Kylie Connors survived the worst kind of betrayal, but now everyone treats her like she’s untouchable.
And the truth is…she is.
As the younger sister of the Sierra’s general manager, any man who's interested in her would have to risk his career for a chance with her.
But then she asks me for help feeling something good again. Something real.
I’ve wanted her in silence for years, burying the truth that she’s the only woman I’ve ever truly craved. She’s forbidden, off-limits, and choosing her could cost me all I’ve built…and rattle the foundation of the life Kylie’s fought so hard to rebuild.
But when she trusts me enough to take that first step, every instinct in me screams to take the next ten for her.
And if she asks for more…I know I won’t hold back.

Sierra Hockey #5
Kylie Connors is the little sister of Damon Connors, the GM of the Sierra's and he's super protective of her especially after all she's been through. She wants to move forward but is scared. She loves her job as a middle school history teacher but not so much the politics that goes with it.
Colt Madden is the left winger for the Sierra's and has been smitten by Kylie for a couple of years. He just wants to protect her and will do whatever he can just to spend a little time with her, even if it costs him his job. She's his "Starfire." He has a lot going on in his life, parents that ignore him and he doesn't know why, and a brother who has medical issues that he doesn't get to see much.
Kylie's walls start to come down letting Colt in and he's thrilled but very cautious. Does it last?
5 stars This is such an emotional story not just for Kylie and all she has endured but also Colt with all his family issues. He is so sweet to Kylie and will do anything for her. Love his brother Blake and also Adrian!
She's a middle school history teacher and working on putting her life back together. She had a bad experience that makes her leery of men, which can be tricky when her older brother is the GM of the Sierra's professional hockey team. But teammate Colt Madden has been quietly watching and waiting for two years since he first laid eyes on Kylie Connor. The man has patience for days, but that skill has come at great personal cost.
I don’t know how she does it, but each romance from this gifted storyteller is somehow better than the last, and this one has so much to love about it. From fun sibling banter and loveable characters with special needs to some truly wicked people and inspiring healing of past hurts, I flew through this in one sitting. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you’ll cheer for this beautiful, rewarding HEA, so run to the 1-Click and start reading today.
This was my first time reading this author, and I really enjoyed it. It’s an emotional story that pulled me in right away.
The book covers heavy topics, especially Kylie’s past and Colt’s heartbreaking family situation, including abusive parents, a sick younger brother, and a reveal that truly hurt my heart.
I appreciated how the heavier moments were balanced with warmth and humor, especially through Colt’s hockey family and his bond with Blake.
The chemistry was good, but what I loved most was the softness and patience between Kylie and Colt as they healed together. The characters felt layered, and I’m already excited to continue the series.
Thank you to Wildfire Marketing Solutions and Elise Faber for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
4.5 stars. This was a great representation of mental health - s/p rape trauma and childhood abuse trauma and how much work it takes to get through it. Also the chronic medical condition representation was so clear and true. I really enjoyed this hockey romance that was hockey based but not the main focus. Colt and Kylie fit together perfectly and their stories wound together too. This might have been my favorite book of this series.
From the moment I started ATTACKING THE ZONE, Sierra Hockey #5, I knew it was going to hit hard, and it did. The emotions, the heartaches, the slowburn, the mutual yearning and desire, and the romance, everything about this story was perfection. It was a flawless tale of two people who had the need for love.
Kylie Connors and Colt Madden had watched each other from afar for two years. She's a teacher and the sister of the Sierra's GM, and he's one of the team's top tier players. Colt has had a crush on Kylie since he first saw her and has finally decided it's time to make his move. Kylie was the victim of a horrible attack, but she's a survivor and no longer wants to be scared. She decides that Colt could be the man to help her.
Colt and Kylie are incredible together. Their chemistry was undeniable, yet it was the friendship and trust which grew between them that had me cheering for them. Yes, Colt has a thing for Kylie's car tyres, often causing her some frustration, yet it brought them together. He gave her the strength and courage to move on from the hurt of her past to become the woman shewas meant to be, carefree and loving. Colt was battling his own demon, the lack of love from his parents. It was hard to understand why they, especially his mother, smothered his brother yet wanted nothing to do with him. Until she dropped"that" bombshell, oh how my heart ached forColt, yet Kylie stood by him and gave him the love he needed. They were perfect for each other.
I can never fault Elise Faber's ability to bring out her character's emotions, passion, humour, and fears. Once again she has delivered every one of them flawlessly. Her characters always have depth with room to grow even further. Then there are the secondary characters who also have their own stories to add to the main one. I adored Blake, Colt's younger brother, considering his situation he had a wonderful outlook and his love for Colt was boundless. ATTACKING THE ZONE had so many layers and I enjoyed watching them being oeeled back. It was another fabulous read from Elise Faber.
ATTACKING THE ZONE is the fifth instalment in Elise Faber’s contemporary, adult SIERRA HOCKEY erotic, hockey romance series. This is player Colt Madden, and middle school teacher Kylie Connors’ story line. ATTACKING THE ZONE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers
Told from dual first person perspectives (Colt and Kylie) ATTACKING THE ZONE follows the building relationship between our story line couple. Colt Madden has loved Kylie Connors from afar, but as the sister of the team’s general manager, and a woman who has experienced the worst of betrayals, Kylie is off limits. Determined to prove Kylie is worthy of love, Colt begins a slow seduction of our story line heroine.
The world building follows several paths including the dysfunctional dynamics of the Madden family; Colt’s love for his disabled brother, and Kylie’s struggle to move on from the past.
The relationship between Kylie and Colt is a friends to lover. For months Colt has been dancing around the woman with whom he will fall in love, a woman who will come to the defense of our story line hero. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including the return of Kylie’s brother Damon, and his wife Joey (On The Fly 4), and teammates Storm, Knox and Riggs. We are introduced to Colt’s brother Blake, and their questionable parents Frank and Donna Madden. The author has plans for a new spin off, small town CEDAR HOLLOW series beginning with Storm’s story line
ATTACKING THE ZONE is a story of secrets and lies, family and relationships, acceptance and love. The character driven premise is heart breaking and emotional; the romance is seductive; the characters are determined and charismatic.
The teacher meets the hockey star. Colt is a hockey player on the team that her brother is the general manager for. She is the 7th grade history teacher that is trying to get over her past. Colt has been in love with Kylie for 2 years and she wont give him the time of today. However, what he doesn’t know, is that she feels the same way but because of who her brother is she has never done anything about it. That all about to change. When they have dinner together one night after she gets a flat tire, they start talking and she asks him for help in over coming her past. He offers to help, with her over coming it. They are hit with many challenges from her boss, to a student, to his brother and her brother and more. They work through these things and they are both becoming better people because of it. Their friends and family see the changes in each of them. She is starting to heal from her past and he is learning what love is. When he gets hurt on the ice, she is right there beside him while he is recovering, even when he doesn’t want her to be. As time goes on, he learns some things about his past, and when this is happening she is right by him again and they realize that their pasts are no so different and that they need each other. They help each other and both his brother and her brother can really see that they are meant to be with each other. This is a good read and it really flows well through the whole story. You get many insights on their backgrounds and why they work so well together. This is one book I think you need to pay attention to the trigger warnings for. There is talk about some touchy subjects that might be hard for some people to read. While keeping that in mind, I think that it helped make the story complete and helped turn both damaged heroine and hero to who they are supposed to be. This series is always fun to read and I recommend the others in it.
In this fifth book in the Sierra Hockey series, it is the turn of Kylie Connors, little sis to Damon the GM, and Colt Madden, a player for the Sierra team. For two years, Colt has been mesmerized by Kylie and her strength after a harrowing ordeal that almost cost her brother his freedom, but he has been too afraid to approach her because of who said brother is! So gradually over time, Colt has been letting the air out of Kylie's tires so that she has to stop just short of where her apartment is, and he rides into the rescue. Eventually, the ice is broken and Colt and Kylie form a friendship, one built on trust and respect, that morphs into so much more. Colt is afraid to go too fast with Kylie, but over time, he knocks down her walls and slowly works his way into her life and heart. Kylie has many demons to overcome, but her brother isn't one of them as he has known for a long time (as has the whole Sierra team) how Colt has felt about Kylie, and I, for one loved that. Colt's family life has been hard too. His brother Blake, whom he adores, has medical issues that prevent him from traveling to see Colt, without a lot of preparation, and parents who quite frankly have no interest in him and have checked out of his life. This leads to serious resentment and confusion as Colt has no idea how to fix this. But he is determined to make his "found family" the most important people in his life.
This book is so beautifully written. The characters are so relatable, the development is on point and you can't help but fall in love with them. Once again, Ms Faber has given us a story that has all the feels and a wonderful HEA. How can you not love these players and their chosen loves.
Beautiful. Just beautiful. Elise Faber delivers another gut-wrenching, heartfelt must-read in Attacking the Zone.
The fifth mesmerising story in the Sierra Hockey series, this book once again proves why Elise Faber sits firmly as one of the top hockey romance genre writers, Her stories don’t just entertain—they stay with you. With emotionally layered characters and deeply moving storytelling, she has a rare ability to write romances that burrow straight into your heart. I genuinely don’t think I’ve read a single book of hers that hasn’t left its mark.
Kylie Connors is a survivor. She’s lived through something horrific, and on the surface, she’s “moving on”—but Elise Faber asks the harder question: is Kylie truly living? That quiet, aching space between survival and joy is explored with such tenderness and care that it hurts in the very best way.
Enter Colt. A hockey player tied closely to Kylie’s world—playing for the team where her brother is the GM and his girlfriend is the coach—Colt keeps his distance… or at least tries to. And that moment with the tyres? Absolutely priceless. Especially when his thoughts reveal everything:
“I can protect her from everything— Except from wanting me.”
That line perfectly sets the tone for what follows.
Watching Colt with Kylie is something truly special. His gentleness. His compassion. His unwavering devotion. Every interaction is layered with patience and quiet strength, allowing Kylie the space to feel safe, to trust, and slowly, beautifully, to come out of her shell. And as she does—falling for Colt piece by piece—it’s nothing short of perfection.
Attacking the Zone is emotional, tender, and profoundly romantic. Elise Faber doesn’t just write love stories—she writes healing, hope, and the kind of love that feels earned. This one will stay with you long after the final page. 💙
Kylie Connors is the sister of Damon Connors, the Sierra’s General Manager. So of course she has always had hockey in her life but wanting to be involved with a hockey player is the farthest thing from her mind, especially since she had a horrible betrayal. But there is one that might have a chance, Colt Madden. She just needs to decide if she is willing to give him a chance or not. Kylie doesn’t realize that he has problems of his own with his family, parents that are extreme and a brother that is very sick.
Colt Madden has had a crush on Kylie for years, he wants to be in her life and protect her forever. His idea of taking air out of a car tire every so often and have to rescue her might have been a bit extreme but he didn’t know what else to do. She figured it out and after another tire episode (not his fault) she was willing to let him into her world. He knows he has to take it slow, really slow and let her decide when and where. Together they can be amazing, they both have to have lots of patience and help the other to heal.
This is book 5 in the Sierra Series by Elise Faber and it is action from the start. Like her other books, this one does touch on sensitive subjects that are not always easy to read by some. But it is one that captures your attention from the start and holds it until the very last page. Can’t wait to see what happens next.
Thanks to Wildfire Marketing and the author for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
Colt and Kylie seriously stole my heart in this slow burn romance. Initially I was a little concerned with Colt letting air out of Kylie’s tires so she’d have to pull over. He followed her so he could change her tire for her and spend some time talking with her. He’s actually a complete golden retriever of a MMC with a misguided plan. Thankfully, he sees the error of his ways and as Kylie said ‘she wasn’t dumb.’
This book has some pretty emotional storylines - Kylie’s past sexual assault and the recovery of her confidence and trust. Colt’s younger brother has had life threatening health issues his entire life requiring numerous hospitalizations and surgeries. Their parents have been abusive to both Colt (neglect and disdain) and Blake (smothering and extreme control). There is a shocking revelation that devastates Colt.
Elise handles each of these delicate subjects in a manner than had me emotionally invested in the characters and on the edge of my seat wondering how it was going to turn out.
I enjoyed the banter and interactions with Colt’s hockey family, his brother Blake and Kylie’s students. Extra fun and added humor to help lighten the story.
I received a free ARC from the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.
*4,5 stars* It was definitely an emotional ride of emotions as I was reading this story; going through ups & downs that had me spinning as I felt for the characters. A journey of love, self-discovery and heartbreak throughout the story. I liked the chemistry between Kylie & Colt but also the tenderness that was displayed as both were finding their way. Such a great addition to this series!
Kylie enjoys her teaching job but has been dealing with a lot of personal things in her life that she tries to slowly overcome although it's not easy but takes it day by day. Each time her car breaks down, she calls up Colt who doesn't mind helping her out. Although he's been at the same team as her brother, they haven't really known each other as she tends to stay away. Colt always had a crush on Kylie but always kept his distance, even though lately it gets harder to contain their feelings for one another. Slowly, Kylie's walls are coming down and Colt is determined to make her see that they could be good together. As time goes on, both are dealing with their past but they seem to have found a way to hopefully heal together, even with the road ahead...
Ms. Faber writes stories that move you in such a way that your heart feels all sorts of emotions, as well as feeling a connection with the characters. She is the queen of hockey romance stories, so I know when she has a new book or a series coming out, it will be a one-click book with no questions. Attacking the Zone is the fifth book in her spectacular series. We are given Kylie and Colt's story and it is one of heartache, yet at the same time one of hopes, dreams and a love that was meant to be. Kylie has survived a horrific situation and she is trying to move on the best she can. Then there is Colt, a hockey player who happens to play for the team her brother is the GM. Colt has had feelings for Kylie for what seems like forever, and he is sneaky in the way he spends time with her. When feelings come to the surface and Colt learns about her past, it is heartwarming to see the way he takes care of her. He really is the perfect book boyfriend. He tells her he will wait for her to be ready, even if it takes a long time. A beautifully written, moving and breathtaking romance story that will stay with you forever.
This is yet another beautiful, heart-tugging romance from Elise, the kind that I've come to expect from her and am always excited to read. Her stories always feature remarkable men and women who endear you so easily for their strengths and vulnerabilities, and the MCs here were precisely those things. Kylie thinks she's broken, still painfully haunted by a transgression committed against her person. But Colt is there, supporting her, ever patient, ever gentle. He's her anchor, her safe space, and it is through him that she slowly but steadily learns to unshackle herself from the terror of her past.
From start to finish, it's a feel-good romance that does funny things to your insides. You're smiling for most of the book, heart swooning during the tender-sweet moments shared by Colt and Kylie. You pump your fists at the moments when they achieve a milestone in their blossoming relationship, and you root for them during their trying moments as well. It's a book you can breeze through easily because it's so engrossing, and when you get to the end you can't help but be excited for the new series that's to follow next.
A fabulous book about family (both blood and found) and protecting those you love any way you can. Colt and Kylie are perfect together and he is so perfect with her that it is impossible, in my opinion, to not fall in love with him. He has admired her from afar for a couple of years, finding one particular way to be close to her that he realizes wasn't the safest way and vows never to do it again. Kylie knows what he is doing but doesn't want the connection to end because she finally feels something for a man after what happened to her in the past.
He is patient, kind, loving, protective and every other word you can come up with to describe a man who doesn't push but lets someone know he will always be there. She feels like she is still broken from what happened to her, but he helps her realize how strong she is and that she deserves happiness in her life. His relationship with his family is abhorrent, except his brother and I love her relationship with her brother.
I love this couple and can't wait to see what comes next. I received an ARC and this is my honest, voluntary review.
Kylie isn't looking for love and doesn't trust men in general after a traumatic issue in her past and as a teacher you would think she's safe from unwanted attention but her brother Dammon is the Sierra Hockey teams General Manager but Colt has been pineing for Kylie for 2 years so he has been slowly trying to get her attention even if he's gone about it in the wrong way by slowly letting the air out of her tires but when his attempt to be there gor her evertime things go wrong causes and accident he knows he's gone about things wrongly but soon there relationship becomes both of there worlds based on trust and love and Colt definitely needs that love with a sick brother and parents that don't care about him he's a afraid to loose his new family with the Sierra team but loving Kylie is more important to him. I loved this book how all the team rally around him and Kylie and new how he felt before he did. Was the ending a little fast yes but still a good read by the author I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.
Attacking The Zone is Colt Madden and Kylie Connors emotional and entertaining friends to lovers journey that I quickly became invested in. This was a bittersweet read because this is book five and the final book in the Sierra Hockey Series. I loved everything about this book. Kylie and Colt watched each other from a distance for years. She is a teacher and sister of the Sierra’s GM and he is a star player which means she should be off limits. Colt has hidden his crush until now but will Kylie be ready to take a chance on a man. This book touched me on so many levels, I fell hard and fast for Colt and I admired the strength Kylie shows while overcoming and surviving a horrible attack but it was watching Colt do whatever was needed to support the woman who holds his heart. This is a well written, emotional story that was heartbreaking and heartwarming as well as being a wonderful conclusion to the series.
Colt is a professional hockey player who has had feelings for Kylie, the sister of the general manager, for a couple of years but he knows he needs to be patient because of her past. He is determined to get her attention one flat tire at a time and show her that she can trust him with her heart and her safety.
Kylie has endured an experience that changed who she is and left her with trust issues both when it comes to others and herself. She has feelings for Colt but has been hesitant to become more than acquaintances however he is also the first man to make her feel like she can move forward with her life after what she went through.
I really enjoyed how supportive they were of each other as he helped her heal from the past and she helped him deal with the family turmoil that is a constant in his life. The characters are captivating, the romance is enchanting and this story has all the feels.
Honestly I don't know what it is about the series that Elise writes, but I can totally picture them as a tv show, and quite honestly I binge each book like it is an episode of that show. 🤣
Kylie has been through quite a bit, and Colt recognized that. He was willing to go at the pace she was comfortable with, and was going to help her heal from the past situation. I loved how caring he was. The stalker like moments at the beginning of the book made me chuckle, and I did question his motives at first. But I also loved how Kylie called him out on his antics. She was completely on to him.
The incident on the ice definitely had my jaw dropping. Then there is the situation with Colt's parents, and oh what an emotional mess that is. His brother is amazing though.
Absolutely love the Sierra Hockey group, and cannot wait to see what Elise writes next.
The Sierra Hockey’s General Manager has a younger sister, so no hockey mister is getting near her ya hear? Well they’d live in fear of their life and it’s be too much strife to try and pull it off. Getting even a FaceOff in the friend zone never mind offensive zone manoeuvres . But someone is out to disprove this and getting close to the little missy . This looks like it could get messy really quick for Colt but he doesn’t bolt . He looks after her has worshipped from afar but when she asks him to be there for her that way. Make her feel good agin does he sway ,does he stay with the boss’s sister… Wonderful writing and so clever too . Elise Faber what can’t you do cos this is swell . In the Attacking Zone is where he is prone to be but when she pleads so nicely ,his head is lost and so is his heart. I loved this story from start to finish my interest did not diminish one bit with this book about the hockey player and the boss’s baby sis . Absolutely bliss ,it’s exquisite.
I have been looking forward to Kylie getting her book since we first met her in big brother Damon's book, and Attacking the Zone and Colt are... chef's kiss. Colt has been pining for Kylie from afar for a while, but not only is she the boss's baby sister, but Colt is respecting her boundaries as she works through her fears from an earlier trauma. Colt is so dang swoony. Swoon city, if you will. His care and attention to Kylie in every way is just beautiful, while going through his own familial emotional issues. Aside from Colt and Kylie, I also adore the sibling relationships. Kylie and Damon's and Colt with his brother, Blake. The love, protectiveness, and care the siblings have for each other is so endearing. The love, the humor, and the chemistry had me rapt and invested all the way to the very end.
"You make me feel so good. What you say. How you say it. How you mean it."
Kylie has suffered a lot in the past few years. But she's trying to find a balance to enjoy her everyday life and trying to keep the nightmares away. She's been existing and is not sure how to move on from everything.
Colt has been silently watching her for 2 years now. He sees her for what she is and no what happened to her. All he wants to do is love her like she deserves. When they finally found the strength to confess their feelings it felt like everything was right with the world. I loved his patience with her, and i adored her for how she supported him when his own family didn't, well expect for his brother. I loved Blake!!!!
This story was not hot and heavy but it still delivered a punch. I loved it from start to finish and with the epilog that Elise has left us, i have a feeling a this series is just getting better.
This 5 star book, beautifully written held my attention from the very first word to the very last. I should like to say thank you for the privilege of reading this as an ARC. I truly loved everything about this book. The characters were extremely well written and definitely felt very real to me. Some very sensitive topics were covered in the story and I thought Elise wrote them extremely well paying attention to the sensitivity of the subjects. This book touched me and I definitely had several cry loud moments especially closer to the end. This is one that truly deserved a happy ending and I want to read Storm's story in Elise's next book. I highly recommend this book and feel that it can be read as a stand alone. I hadn't read other books in this Sierra Hockey series and I had no problem following along. If you are a fan of Elise and her books then this is a must read for y'all.
An emotional story with wonderful characters…and some who definitely are not.
Kylie has survived a horrible experience and, with an overprotective big brother who happens to be the General Manager for the Sierra Hockey organization, Kylie has slowly been finding her way again.
Colt, who is a hockey player on the Sierra team, has quietly watched as Kylie has worked through her recovery…one that perhaps isn’t complete, but shows a glimmer of the person she used to be. He has been waiting for the right time for her to really notice him. And while his “continuous meet-cute” shenanigans are actually sweet, his patience and kindness helps Kylie break down her walls.
Colt too has his own struggles…without giving any spoilers, suffice it to say that they both deserve a HEA.
This is a sweet story that you won’t want to put down!
Sierra Hockey book 5 - it’s an emotional one! A standalone with interconnected characters, this is the story of Colt and Kylie. Kylie is the younger sister to Damon, (GM to the hockey team) who we met in Book 4, and she’s still living in the shadows from abuse she sustained a few years ago. Colt, ever the giant golden retriever has been pining for Kylie for over two years from afar, allowing her time to heal, but to him, she’s always been endgame. This is a story of perseverance, patience and building trust - it’s emotional, heavy at times but Colt never fails to deliver the warm and fuzzies!
I voluntarily reviewed a free advance copy of this book provided by the author. The opinions expressed are my own
This was my first one of the Sierra hockey series and I feel the need to go back and read about these couples. You can absolutely read it as a standalone, I would like to know a little bit more about the side characters. The idea that he deflates her tires to make sure she has contact with him is a bit creeper, but you get over it fast when he is so patient with her due to some trauma she is working through.
There are some deep issues explored in this book, so check the TWs, but they don’t go too deep (there are no explicit memories or retelling of what happened) but your mental health is still important. The story gets right into it and goes fast, so if you want a quick read with a good story and some spice, this is perfect. I was especially intrigued by the epilogue and the spin off that is happening. Good stuff ahead! 4/5⭐️4/5🌶️
Colt has been trying to get Kylie to notice him for two years, he knows about her past and is wary of upsetting her, especially as her brother, Damon, has a lot of sway with the team! Kylie knows he's been flattening her tyres so he can 'rescue' her, and gradually she's feeling safer with him. Colt's brother has had a hard life with many illnesses forcing him to have surgeries and hospital stays. Blake and Colt are very close inspite of their parents. Colt supports Kylie, helping her with school work, putting one of her pupils in touch with Blake. This is a great, emotional story from Elise, with an empathetic hero and a sassy heroine. Made for each other.
This was an enjoyable read. The characters were fantastic. Colt was a swoony character, and we loved Kylie. She had a beautiful soul and a sense of humor.
We loved being a part of this couple's journey to their happily ever after. There were big revelations, healing, and love.
The story was emotional, fun, and flirty. Kylie and Colt had this beautiful connection and palpable chemistry.
We loved this one; it was a nice addition to this series. Our favorite part was their first date, where we saw Kylie truly blossom, and where we felt she was ready to let go of her demons and move forward and embrace the happiness she truly desired and deserved.
Overall, this was a beautiful love story where we fell in love with its characters.
