Hatching a Spell: a cozy easter romance

Rate this book
Autumn Rosewood was dreaming of a quiet Easter weekend. Her magic has been behaving, her romance with Wyatt slow and sweet, and everything falling into place. That was the plan... until the middle of the night, when her best friend Kida calls, heartbroken over a certain mysteriously handsome gangster who had ghosted her. Kida wants to crash Easter in Birchwood Falls.

Between helping Harmony plan the town's biggest Easter egg hunt ever and watching Kida charm the whole town square with her eccentric ways, Autumn almost dares to think they might make it through the weekend without any magical mayhem.

Almost.

That is, until Wyatt cradles his newborn nephew, and suddenly Autumn’s magic goes on its own little adventure, enchanting dozens of hand-painted eggs. And before anyone can blink, those eggs hatch into a fluffy sea of baby bunnies. Oops. It’s a magical mishap big enough to spill the beans to Harmony about Autumn and Kida’s secret.

And just when she thinks things can’t get more chaotic, Easter dinner at Wyatt’s family’s house turns into an impromptu road trip to Tilly’s ranch, where the carrots are roasted, the expectations are low, and the welcome is warm enough to melt any heart.

Kova lives in the heart of Southern California where she weaves tales that defy the boundaries of reality. When she's not attending to her three wildlings, her bonus daughter, her feline familiar (secretly plotting world domination), and her husband (also harboring grand schemes), she's out and about.

You'll often find her roaming Renaissance faires where magic and mayhem collide. Or perhaps, she's embarked on an epic quest into the unknown, camping in magical places where the very earth seems to whisper ancient secrets. And when the moon graces the night sky, she's been known to meet a metal band or two.

I seriously can’t get enough of this series. Each story just keeps getting better, and this Easter novella is no exception. I loved everything about it — it’s such a sweet little story, and Autumn and Kida’s relationship continues to be one of my favorite parts. They’re the perfect example of lifelong friends, and the way Wyatt has just naturally fallen into their dynamic is so heart-melting.

It’s also been really great to see Autumn growing closer to Harmony. She’s built this whole little life here, which is so satisfying when you think back to the first book, where she wasn’t even sure she would stay.

We also finally get more about why Wyatt is the way he is — and let me just say, it had me full-on sobbing. Watching Autumn and Kida both stand up for him against his own mother was such a powerful and touching moment.

And listen... I need to know more about this guy who ghosted Kida. First, she has a panic attack over him, and now she’s heartbroken? Who hurt our chaos queen?! Who is this Falcon, and when do we get to see him grovel? I am invested and absolutely need more of everyone's story in the next one!

I just binge-read the last two books and omg, this Easter novella is sooooo adorable!!
I loved getting more of Kida’s backstory, though I’m still desperate for more. Pretty please give us a Kida spin-off someday!! I need to see more of her and the mysterious Falcon guy. The little hints have me hooked!
And Autumn?? She’s fully embracing helping Harmony now, instead of reluctantly getting roped in, and it’s everything. Kida and Autumn literally hopping around the square to make "accurate" bunny tracks?? CUTEST THING EVER.
Also, I totally need the recipe for Kida's cowboy sloppy joes! They sound amazing!
And the wave of bunnies when Autumn suddenly got hit with baby fever?? Hysterical, magical, and just perfect, lol!
Oh, and that dinner with Wyatt's mom? Jesus take the wheel. She’s totally a witch... with a capital B. Send help, but also, I’m here for it.

I’m absolutely obsessed with this cozy, funny, and heart-squeezing little story! Can’t wait for more!! The Summer Novella can’t get here fast enough!!
