Debt

Rate this book
I don’t know what I was thinking when I hired someone to attack me. Maybe I was bored, or lonely, or there was a void so deep inside of me that I needed something explosive to fill it.

It was supposed to be safe. A thrill. A way to break through the monotony of everyday life. It was an illusion of danger that I could walk away from as soon as it was over.

Except that it wasn’t. Because I had been in danger long before I ever invited it into my life.

———————

My mission is almost complete. The bubbling boil of vengeance that heats my blood might finally simmer.

She is the last piece of the puzzle. Once I destroy her, everyone who ever hurt me will have paid their debt.

It was supposed to be quick and easy, but as soon as I met her it got complicated.

Very complicated.

DEBT is a standalone novel. 118k words. Adult/graphic content that may be difficult for some readers.

★★★★★! Debt (stand-alone). Mia’s uses VIP site to plan her own rape, but Tax Dracconi will not only rock her sex life, but her whole world!

“It’s 2am and I am lurking on the deep web for a male prostitute to mock-rape me. This calls for more wine.”

Debt (stand-alone) is small-town girl Mia Tibbett‘s story. After college she moved to a bigger city and is working as director of operations for a sex toy company. On a whim, referred by her best friend, she signs up with a top-secret site and orders her own rape, a sexual fantasy of hers.

This will prove a life-altering decision for Mia…

Hiding in her home is businessman, Tax Draconi, He provides the best sex and orgasms she ever had… But Tax is not who he pretends to be… and soon Mia finds herself repaying a debt she had no idea show owed. Torn between disgust with herself, contempt and an insane attraction to Tax she is trying to learn Tax’s secrets and his connection to her.

But some truths are better untold…

“This stranger has become the center of my world. A puzzle I have to solve. My greatest pleasure and my deepest pain.”

photo Deb H BS by sb_zpsdzoaafhm.gif

Eleven words to describe Tax Draconi: Ruthless, commanding, relentless, merciless, aloof, complex, broken, misguided, revengeful, loyal and secretive.

“Aaaaand there goes my goddam trouser snake, missing her pussy.”

photo Deb he BS by sb_zpslgbbjpty.gif

Eleven words to describe Mia Tibbett: Sweet, unassuming, self-reflective, smart, driven, open-minded, forgiving, caring, honest, lonely and determined.

“This is the abandon I have been looking for. Shame and decency have long gone out the window.”

Debt is flawlessly written. It was my absolute pleasure to take this journey with Tax and Mia. Story offered the perfect balance of their past and present; lust and contempt; devastation and hope; redemption and forgiveness while keeping me on my toes.

It’s beyond sexy, suspenseful, mysterious, partly predictable, angsty, but above all it’s a love story and about making peace with one’s past. Yet author stayed true to plot by not making everything perfect. The ending is satisfactory, but I would welcome a bonus epilogue further into their future.

Effortless story-telling! Original, suspenseful and engaging plot! Smoldering, edgy and ferocious sex scenes! And… the complex and unforgettable Tax Dracconi!

“Don’t fucking act like you don’t like this shit Mia. I know you want someone to dirty you up. I’ll make you fucking filthy. Now, show me.”

4 dirty dirty DIRTY debt Stars

Reckless. Irresponsible. Dirty. Dangerous. Exhilarating. Erotic. Wild. Euphoric.
How can one thing be all of those?
How can peering into the gutter of my soul feel like I just touched heaven?

What in the effing hell did I just read? And why do I suddenly feel the need to go to confessional? But the better question is, why in the fucking hell did I like it?!

The quote above describes the book perfectly, because it truly is ALL of those things.
Reckless.
Irresponsible.
Dirty.
Dangerous.
Exhilarating.
Erotic.
Wild.
Euphoric.
And most importantly Dirty (it's worth listing it twice)
There are no pleasantries, no small talk it's a man who wants to fuck a woman. Not just fuck her, but take her.

I can say that this book is certainly not for everyone. It's just one fuck shy of being depraved. Luckily my sanity is long gone and my ovaries are steel plated, so this was right up my pervy little alley.
Don't fucking act like you don't like this shit, Mia. I know you want someone to dirty you up. I'll make you fucking filthy.

Mia is a good girl...well mostly anyway. She loves her job working at an adult toy company, but her own sex life has been sorely lacking lately. So when her best friend tells her about the most thrilling and erotic sex she's ever had just so happened to come from a service in the form of a 'rape fantasy' she wants to be disgusted...and yet she can't help but be incredibly intrigued at the same time. A hot and sexy stranger, a safe word that makes it all stop should you chose, and the promise of the hottest sex she's ever had proves too alluring to resist. But nothing prepares her for the man that shows up to 'attack her'

Tax Draconi is a debt collector and Mia is the last name on his list of people to pay.
I will suck her dry. I will fuck the life out of her, I will ravage her until she is hollow and used...

Now I have to tell you, some of the scenes that take place in this book? Even the seasoned pervert in me was almost screaming

What? Debt. Get it? Moving on then ;)
Because it is one step away from being borderline rapey...and yet it wasn't. But it was certainly...dirty. Very, very, VERY dirty.

My advice if you chose to read this is to slightly suspend your disbelief. The interesting thing is I couldn't find it in me to care that some of the things that I read here would usually bother me in any other books. Which definitely goes to say something...and I'd rather not think on that right now LOL.

But the premise of the book is much darker and a whole lot more than the dirtyness of it.

Tax targets Mia for a very specific reason. A reason that has everything to do with their shared past and a past that she has no recollection of.

The story is told in alternating flashbacks of present to past and slowly trickle feeds the reader details, little by little, until you start putting together all the puzzle peaces. Tax's history is absolutely gut wrenching. This is no sunshine and unicorns type of book. It's DARK and it's all kinds of fucked up.

I wish I can give you more of the plot, but I simply can't. That blurb is vague, and that's all you should know going in.

I had a hard time understanding Mia's almost instantaneous connection to Tax, especially given some of the things that he makes her do. I have to say some were almost too tough to swallow...even for me. And yet her lust for him was always unwavering. Now taking into consideration their "past", it did make a little more sense to me by the end.

I have to say that I could have gone without one very particular scene:

But aside from that, I couldn't put this one down. As much as I thought I had an idea about where this book would go, the constant twists and turns kept me on my toes until the very end. And then that end! Holy freaking shit! The feels! The feels, I tell ya! Damn.

This was my first Nina G. Jones book, but I can definitely tell you that she's found a new fan in me.

Finally. My first 5 star read of 2015!

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

I'm not sure if I can buy into the idea of someone hiring someone to attack them out of boredom. I don't see how someone can actually get that bored...there is too much booze, Disney, and 7 seasons of both Sons of Anarchy and Buffy the Vampire Slayer - and other shenanigans in the world - pick something. Intense and Passionate!

The chemistry between the two main characters in this book was crazy hot. It began with Tax wanting revenge against Mia for something that happened many years ago, he plans to kill her. She and a friend who both have kinky rough sex fantasies hear about a website that stages fake rape role play scenarios with hot men. But Tax steps in and Mia thinks he is the guy from the site.

From then on, their encounters are all just as steamy and filled with craziness, but also mystery because she finds out that she owes him a debt for something, but he won’t tell her what it is. She doesn’t recognize him or his name and can’t think of anything bad she has ever purposely done, so she is baffled.

“This is what Tax has turned me into: a crazed woman who follows a man around. But I have been left with no choice. If I just let him go, the question of why Tax came and went will linger in my mind for as long as I live. Oh my god, I’m like that astronaut who wore a diaper to drive across the country to find her lover.”

The story goes back and forth between their encounters and the past where it slowly shows how they originally met and what occurred. The story is good, it builds to a tipping point very slowly and drops pretty dramatically.

RE-READ#6: One of my many guilty pleasures...

** 5 +++ "my savage beast" STARS **

It's come full circle: The girl who set me on the path of destruction can be my redemption.
~ TAX

That was...something else.

Disturbing, dark, dirty and so damn erotic! A beautifully complex story about lust, love, betrayal, choices, consequences, revenge and redemption. This book was perfection for a depraved pervert like myself! *giggles* I will reread and reread and reread this a million times, that's for sure.

How can peering into the gutter of my soul feel like I just touched heaven?
~ MIA

Being my first Nina G. Jones read, it ensured that I'll be stalking this author from now on. It's been more than a week since I've finished the book and I'm still getting chills while writing this review.

For anyone considering to try this book out, my advice is to look past the fuckedupness, including both sexual and mental abuse along with violence, and let the story flow. It'll take twists and turns every once in awhile, but you will reach the calm and peaceful destination eventually, trust me.

Just fire up CLOSER by Nine Inch Nails, relax and start reading! It will get you in the right mood for this heck of a journey!

Mia Tibbett has a pretty normal life, boring even, considering she works at a company called "Alea Intimate Toys for Women", making sex toys. When her BFF Tiffany comes up one day to tell her about the most incredible and satisfying sexual experience she's ever had, which includes a hired stranger to attack and take her, Mia is confused to realize she's more intrigued than disgusted.

After a brief period of denial, she finally decides to fulfill her darkest fantasy, fills out the online form, pays the fine, picks a safeword ("rainbow" LOL!) in case she changes her mind later...and starts waiting for her hot and sexy attacker to come blow her mind!

“Don't say a f*cking word, b*tch.”

That's how Mia's night of passion begins and she doesn't consider saying "rainbow" even once! The sexy beast that rocks her world that night, the man with a vibrantly colored neck tattoo, a pit of snakes that curl and crawl up his neck, leaves her satisfied but still wanting more!

When a few days later another stranger comes, this time Mia screams her safeword as loudly as possible the second she realizes it's not HIM, and immediately it all ends. The stranger leaves, telling her her request is canceled. So if this man is her hired attacker...who was the man that has been occupying her dreams ever since that night? Who was HE?

This stranger has become the center of my world. A puzzle I have to solve. My greatest pleasure and my deepest pain.
~ MIA

Still haunted by HIM, Mia goes to work to meet the new partner of the company, Tax Draconi , and finds herself in the conference room in a very early hour, alone with a man who has snake heads peaking up from the collar of his shirt to his neck...

Tax Draconi is a debt collector and now it's time for Mia to pay. Pay for her sins from 14 years ago.

“I will suck her dry. I will fuck the life out of her, I will ravage her until she is hollow and used...”
~ TAX

The mysteries slowly unravel through POVs from the past and the present, getting you all pumped-up to know what the hell is going on and I assure you...YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO PUT IT DOWN! Oh and don't worry if you absolutely HATE Tax at first. While Tax falls more in love and out of his plan of revenge, day by day, he will most definitely win your heart as well as Mia's! ;)

“I want to swallow you. I want to consume you. I want to possess you. I want you. I want…MORE.”
~ TAX

P.S: I have a confession. *deep breath in* Okay...here it goes... I was so turned on at the tampon scene that everyone here seems to hate. *deep breath out* Yeah. I'm a weirdo, I know. But aren't we all?

Wow! What a ride this book took me on! I was hooked right from the start. I loved this story!

Early on, it becomes apparent that Mia has a stalker that is out to pay for something terrible she did in her past. When she decides to act on her darkest fantasy, she has no idea that she has unwittingly invited her would-be executioner into her home. What ensues, is a dark, passionate, erotic, affair that will bring her to her knees.

Tax can't fight the attraction he feels for Mia, despite believing that she is responsible for a vicious attack that left him and his twin sister, Jude, irreparably damaged. Once he has her in a compromising position, he plans to make the most of it until he collects the debt she owes by taking her life. He's out for vengeance, but the more time he spends with Mia, the more he doubts everything he thought he knew about that night years ago.

As Mia and Tax's story unfolds, the crimes of the past are slowly unveiled. Some wrongs cannot be forgiven. Even after the truth comes out, I wasn't sure if the two of them would be able to move on.

This story took me on an emotional roller coaster. I loved tax, then I hated him, and then I loved him again. I felt disgust, outrage, sympathy and sadness, all in the course of a few hours. I was on the edge of my seat, right to the very end. Yes, I did say end. This book does provide an ending and closure, which is rare to come by these days.

It was suspenseful and hot! I loved it! I would definitely recommend this book to other readers who love a romance with a touch of dark thrown in.

SPOILER-FREE REVIEW

I can't begin to relay how much I loved this book. At the risk of this being one huge fan-girl review, I'll keep it spoiler-free and just explain what I loved about it. A strong word of warning... there's reviews out there that spoil the first scene in this book! Beware. Read the book blurb. Take my word for it, this book did not disappoint. There's a direct correlation with the number of status updates I post and my love of a book... Sorry for filling everyone's feed- I couldn't help myself!!

First of all, if this book could have one theme song, Debt would have Nine Inch Nails, Closer. Ya know, "I wanna fuck you like an animal?" In fact, many chapters have a correlating song for the themes in the chapter. LOVED that component. I just played my U-tube while losing myself in the chapter. It just worked to put the reader in the scene...in the mindset. And no, there were no Disney themed songs that ever applied. Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, Fiona Apple, to name a few. No Barry White sweet lovin' songs, either. If you hope for that, this book is not for you.

First off... Who should read this gem? ( It does cater to a certain taste and, on the flip side, may NOT be right for other readers.)

1.-You have to like an antihero. A hot, tatted, suited, brooding, dirty talking anti-hero.
2.-You have to like some angsty tug of war between love and hate.
3.-You have to love a bit of darkness...this is more gray.
4.-You have to be okay with the whole rape-for-hire idea. If rape is a trigger, it might not work out.
5.-You have to love mystery and suspense where answers are trickle fed slowly thru flashbacks to the past.
6.-And, most importantly, you have to love animalistic, primal SEX. Against the wall, hot-as-fuck sex scenes. This is likely one of the hottest books I've read. It was dark and dirty...but not kinky. Biting, scratching, pulling....ah, you get it, right?

****
If you've answered yes to all the above, shelf your current read and get started pronto. photo 9CABD14A-1C7C-46BF-B556-17CE5770C3E3_zpst8gbvmkj.jpg
In a nutshell, Mia works for a female sex toy company. When her best friend approaches her about this rape-for-hire website, Mia is shockingly intrigued. Her most secret fantasy is being taken by force. How great would it be to fulfill that fantasy safely...with a safeword and not actual rape? She books the service, listing dates and times where she will be alone...not knowing when this actual encounter will take place. But, hey, if the scene doesn't work for her, she's always got her safeword- rainbow and it will stop. What does she have to lose?

Tax Drakoni is a man out for revenge. He has a list of his victims, those responsible for the pain he and his twin, Jude, endured 14 years ago. There's one name left...Mia. She will be his last victim...her debt to him will be paid. It should be easy. It's been easy thus far... until he actually fucks sets eyes on Mia.

I will suck her dry. I will fuck the life out of her, I will ravage her until she is hollow and used...

That's all your getting for plot! Go in blind- it will rock your world. There's nothing hotter to me than the tug of war between love and hate. Both emotions run so high and, deep down, can be very similar. The chemistry and whole dynamics of Mia and Tax was unlike any book I've read. Secondly, if there's one thing I hate, it's an anti-hero that goes soft and turns into a White Knight overnight. I need a slow thaw for it to be believable. And Tax is no White Knight...he is the ultimate Black Knight. But even in all his dirty talking vengeance, a love story is buried deep. It's that love story I pulled for, knowing that their circumstances were beyond messed up. The book is told in dual POV which was imperative. We needed to get in Tax's head to understand the why's of his words and actions.

I've never read a book from this author and I'm amazed how quickly and thoroughly I was engrossed in the story. In fact, I made myself savor it. I forced myself to put it down, trying to make the experience soak in and last as long as it could. It's that good. The book is FUCKHOT. No better term. It's no hearts and flowers swoony endearments either. It's brutal, savage, and animalistic...and so very very dirty! Some readers may question Mia's mindset to fantasize about something so dark and disturbing, to crave a man that calls her such demeaning things, but the author makes it work. You feel Mia's undeniable pull to Tax...Damn, I had a pull to Tax. But I digress...

 photo ADD91B80-DA9A-44E6-BF28-1D76BEA7F05E_zpsd8svsv6t.jpg

Debt keeps you on edge right up to the last sentence and I'm sad it's over. It will, no doubt, be a book I will find myself re-reading from time to time. And I thank you Nina G. Jones, for getting this reader out of the mother of all book slumps! You rock!

Favorite Quotes- (not for the faint at heart)

***"I'm so sorry!" "Don't worry. I'll send you the dry cleaning bill. Water wasn't the only thing you got on my pants today."

***"You're the perfect little whore, but you're my fucking whore."

***"Mia...Mia you are so goddamn beautiful," he murmurs low, I almost miss it. He says it like he begrudges that he feels that way. "I hate you...I fucking hate you."

“You crazy bitch,” he says with a smirk. “You wanna fuck like animals? I’ll fuck you like an animal. You’ll howl like a motherfucking animal.”

oh my god. this was an emotional rollercoaster. goodness, the more i think about it, the more i wanna go and cry. but i'm not crying? its weird. i'm shocked. wow.

i really thought this was going to be a rape fantasy book with ZERO plot, but boy was i wrong. revenge plot never sounded more amazing. i was honestly so skeptical because to me his revenge was based on miscommunication but damn when we found out THE WHOLE story, i couldn't even blame tax... jesus...

that whole ending—fucked me UP. i didn't expect that to happen. I STILL CANT BELIEVE THAT HAPPENED. WTF.

“Beg, bitch,” he whispers. “Say my fucking name.”

i'm so hot for tax, its not funny at this point. goodness this man knew how to just use his words. when he told her to fuck him >>> i'm still thinking about that.

“Suck it like you mean it. Suck it like a slut who hires men to rape her.”

i mean i'm reading a book with my fav kink ever... its expected for me to go this crazy... ITS HOT OK.

“I want to swallow you. I want to consume you. I want to possess you. I want you.”

“If it was possible, I would put my dick in every single hole at once. I want to have every piece of her.”

i want someone to be this obsessed with me. i'm not fucking kidding. tax obsessed over her pussy had me fucking dying. man stalked her for years, raped her, made her his sex slave... i'm fucked up. IM FUCKED UP.

“You taste so fucking good. I love when the smell of your pussy stays on my mouth. It makes me hard again as soon as I leave you.”

anyways, go read this book if y'all don't have triggers. this was so good.

I Loved this book! It was Depraved, Dirty & Fucked Up and right up my alley.

Mia is good, she leads a normal life and she has a best friend who she shares her fantasies with. When BFF Tiff tells her of a service where you can hire a hot male stud to 'attack' you and give you the best sex of your life, she hesitates slightly but after a few wines decides to fill out the form. When her attacker shows up, she is shocked to find out that she loves the fight and is instantly drawn to the man who is treating her so badly.

Tax is a debt collector, but the kind of debt he collects is not of the monetary kind. On the surface he is a sick bastard who is out for revenge. He blackmails Mia into meeting him every Tuesday for rough sex and humiliation.

"I fucking hate him and I want him so bad."

Slowly, slowly we get to know the history that is behind these two characters, one who is a kind hearted soul and the other who is dark and cold. The pace of this book was perfect for me.

"I don't like to hurt people, Tax. Even now, I should hate you, but I can't. I don't have that in me."

I fell in love with Tax, he was totally redeemed in my book and I most definitely got butterflies in anticipation of him falling in love with the person he thought he hated.

"She is the only person who makes me feel something that isn't anger or retribution"

A Brilliant dark romance, Nina G. Jones is one to watch out for.

I decided to read this one on a whim when I was told it had lots and lots of hot, taboo sex.

Yep that’s me, I am book whore who loves smut.

Well this one is definitely more than smut. The story begins with us meeting Mia. Mia is looking for spice in the bedroom, when her friend recommends she visit a website that specializes in rape for hire.

Things go completely wrong when she is actually raped by another man. Things continue to escalate and we learn the reason for the attack. Despite Tax’s plan things get messed up even more when he begins falling for Mia.

There is actually so much to this story and I was completely enthralled waiting to see what happened next. The story is a little over the top, and believe it or not the sex got a to be a little much for this girl.

Yes, but it is true, I actually started skimming the sex scenes. That aside I do recommend this one if you are looking for a steamy, taboo read with suspense.

description

TBH I went in for some dirty sex but never knew I would be so emotionally invested, leaving me traumatized because of certain horrendous event, the reason for fourteen years of vendetta. The story is nothing different from any revenge premises out there but much darker, fucked up and gut wrenching, the crazy complex characters and powerful writing made me feel like I ran a marathon.

If you read other's review on this one, you might wonder 'did she read the same book?!' since the second half affected me so much I couldn't think of anything but that. I don't know if I hate the author or love her for putting me in that position but she definitely is one to look out for!

So why not 5 stars?
That ending!! this is the very first time I wish there wasn't an HEA, It didn't feel right after what Tax's did towards the end. (I'm not going to put that in the spoiler but if really wanna know PM me, I would love to talk it out)

P.S: Thanks bestie for being there for me in the wee hours of the morning, I was never so glad to see your text before♥

P.P.S: Hugs will be generously accepted, I'm so in need of it.

Ooops. Sorry DNF.

Definitely a case of 'It's me not you'.

I just can't put up with that kind of sex. It would have been fine if it was occasional maybe, or it was only in the bedroom, but the depravity, blackmail and coercion spilled over, and a flick through the book tells me there's a lot of sex. I just didn't like it, and it turned me off big time.

I'm sure the story is as great as everyone says, but the sexual dynamics made me instantly dislike the characters and I found it hard to get over.

Highly recommend for those who loved Raw by Belle Aurora. It's actually very similar in storyline, he hates her for some unbeknown to her reason, he loves to shame her cause he hates her so much, fortunately she realises, she likes to be shamed.

In my eyes the sex in this is heavy BDSM. Which I don't do. The characters dynamics involves a high level of blackmail and coercion/dub-non-con, shame and degradation.

I'm sure fans of books like Raw, BDSM, slave/captive erotic romances will like it, and the reviews are stellar. But it's just not for me.

4 This-one-is-REALLY-steamy Stars

I picked this one up because of the reviews and plot. A girl hires someone to rape her? Oh yeah I’m all over that.

Let me get this out of the way…

I love dark books.

I love it when the hero is a killer

I love taboo, dirty, gritty and naughty sex

I love it when the Hero treats the Heroine utter crap.

Most of this is checked off. I wouldn’t call Debt super dark, but it’s not light. I would say if you want to read something a little different, then this one is for you.

Mia goes through an escort service to hire a man to rape her. What she didn’t expect is to actually get attacked by a real attacker. She doesn’t know this at the time and gets so turned on she has sex with him.

All of us have a bit of Mia in them. We all want some form of kinky sex. What’s a single girl to do? Well, pay for it. I couldn’t get enough of this and let me tell you, it was hot! If you don’t like books with lots of sex scenes, then don’t read Debt. The book is over flowing with it but it didn’t take away from the story. I promise.

Tax is the attacker. He has his reason for attacking Mia. He planned on killing her, but he became too turned on and ended having sex with her. Isn’t that the problem these days? You plan on killing someone and end up sleeping with them. I know it’s a CRAZY story, but it worked for me.

Tax can’t kill Mia, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t hate her. And you can feel it. He treats her like crap and lets her know it. AND Mia gets turned on by this.

All of that I just mentioned was the good part. Now, the part I had issues with was the writing flow and Tax’s issues. The book has flashbacks and I can’t stand it! Eventually you figure out what happens and by the time you get to the part, you just don’t want to read it. It’s pretty graphic.

There’s a lot of angst in this one, meaning things could have been prevented by simply communicating. Yep! It’s one of those books. Why don’t people just talk to each other? I don’t care for your reasons. I don’t care you don’t want to relive the whole thing because you can’t talk about it. It’s just silly.

All that aside, the book had a great intro and the steamy scenes were enjoyable. Very different, kinky and a little dark, just my kind of read.

“I fucking hate him and I want him so bad.”

Well, that line literally summarize my feelings about Tax! One moment you hate him but another moment you're loving him just because of he fucks you until your brains out... That excitement, that terror gives you high... I just really loved this dark and dirty story. :D

If you're okay with dark and very, very disturbing love stories -and oh let's don't forget the mind fucking sex- I highly recommend this book to you. ;)

Annnnd that epilogue broke my heart soooooo bad. Dammit! :'(

Ps. Thank you so much to my gorgeous friend Beatrice for recommendation. This book really hit the right spot. :D I really enjoyed this sick & twisted love story, thanks babe. :P

Honestly, I didn't want to read this book at first but I found it intriguing. Into the book and I was glad I started it. It was good, too much sex (not that I am complaining ), a bit predictable and the plot doesn't move on for a long time. I was going to DNF it because I knew what was going to happen but I continued nonetheless, the reason I rated this book less has nothing to do with why I wanted to DNF it. Then I was like 'thank god I didn't DNF it' It was a solid 4 stars for me, I 'had' removed one star for the predictability but then the ending came. I don't like to read books where hero/heroine murderer especially if they are not punished on top that it is justified but I was still fine with it because if the book is good, it doesn't matter especially if the killing was deserved

Oh sweet baby Jesus!!! HELL YES! That's what I'm talking about!!! This book was amazing! Blown away! Who the hell is this author and where can I get more?!

I have two words for you, Tax, and I will speak them to you in my mother tongue:

 photo 756835_zps9j9zslvq.gif

"Reckless. Irresponsible. Dirty. Dangerous. Exhilarating. Erotic. Wild. Euphoric. How can one thing be all of those? How can peering into the gutter of my soul feel like I just touched heaven?

I've found that when I really, really love a book, I have trouble using my words and coming on here to attempt any kind of coherent review. I have yet to write reviews for some of my very fave recent reads for this very reason. So I am gonna try my hardest here. I am also gonna try to tell you something that you don't know about this book. I am assuming that you have already heard that the steam factor here is SCORCHING!!! I mean...

 photo giphy 1_zpshq4jdapz.gif

 photo tumblr_luzyg02p4X1qd8xuz_zpsxvyrlrit.gif

What I'm trying to say through gif-a-licious interpretation is that the book is fucking HOT, and Tax might just be the dirtiest, filthiest talker that I have ever had the very esteemed privilege of meeting! You feel me?

HOWEVER... this book packs some major story!!! I'm talking heart-string yanking, gut wrenching, emotions!!! Without giving too much away, I will just say that the past/present shifts GUTTED ME!! We learn that Tax used to be quite a bit different back in the day. He was the lanky, awkward, dorky kid that everyone discarded and assumed was a freak. I so badly just wanted to hug him and shield him. My heart so badly broke for him and his struggles.

I found this book to be flawlessly written. Tax and Mia's journey sucked me in almost immediately. It was a perfect blend of lust and contempt; tragedy and hope; redemption and forgiveness.

Don't get me wrong, it's controversial and not for everyone. I can definitely see how some would find the content extremely disturbing. For some reason, I did not at all. The author took me there, and I believed every bit of it. The behavior fit the characters and their combined history. It lures you in with the premise of a rape fantasy story, and while that is part of it, it's very far from being the whole story. Tax has very singular reasons to having his claws in Mia and they have everything to do with their shared past and revenge.

"My dad used to warn me that the devil doesn’t have horns and a pitchfork, he’ll appear as the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen. He’ll make you laugh. He’ll make you feel good. You’ll do things you never thought you would, but he’ll tell you it’s okay. And before you know it, you’ve sold your soul to him."

"Mia...Mia you are so goddamn beautiful,” he murmurs so low, I almost miss it. He says it like he begrudges that he feels that way. “I hate you...I fucking hate you,” he grumbles in a much clearer voice. “Hate is a feeling too,” I whisper through a moan. “I don’t want to feel anything anymore.” “Feel yourself inside of me,” I plead. “That’s all you need to feel right now.” “You ruined me,” he growls, thrusting forcefully, snarling at me. “You ruined me,” I reply."

 photo 786429_zpsyvrif5of.gif

So many amazing moments here. And as much as I started getting the general idea as to where this crazy train was heading, I still could NOT put it down until the last word, which happened at 4 in the morning, and left me bawling just because it was over. I really could have read another 500 pages of these characters.

This is a nice loooong book, which I LOVED! The ending but one of those where you really have to use your imagination. I was ok with it. I am only ok with these types of endings when they are executed correctly AND when the author gives us just enough definitive information, but lets us assume the rest, and that was exactly what I felt that Nina did here. It is kind of abrupt but

"It’s come full circle: the girl who set me on the path of destruction can be my redemption."

I will say that the only abandonment issues that I was left with were surrounding Rex!! OMG, what happens to Rex now?!?!?! I need to know. I would LOVE a Rex/ Tiff novella!!!

Otherwise, this book filled a void for me that I had been trying to fill for months in the revenge story department.

Cannot wait to read more from this author!!!

And just, one more time, before I go. Tax, baby?!

 photo 847024_zpsobi7ip3t.gif

Ok... I am really done now! ;) Read the book!!!!! I will definitely be re-reading!

"It happened tear by tear, thrust by thrust, kiss by kiss, but over time Tax and me have evolved into something beautifully ugly."

Okay let's start the therapy

description

I enjoyed this book a lot and I'm not sure what it says about me. If you ask me if I would read all over again?

DAMN YES!!
At some point, I was questioning my morality and at the end I thought Who cares?

description

Yes the book contains parts that can be disturbing but it's not so dark... There I said it.

description

Mia is a smart, independent and quite strong little woman who lives a normal life without too many complications... And maybe that's the problem.

When one of her friend comes and tells her the sex experience she had, Mia is tempted to give it a try. She is a little worried at first but she soon decides she has many options to stop the experience.
You're gonna ask, what is this experience? Well ...she decides to be attacked sexually by a stranger.

Yes way!
Tax is a beautiful and dangerous man who is lead by vengeance. He wants Mia to pay and he will do anything he can to destroy her.

description

The fact the book is a told from dual pov helps you a lot dealing with the darker aspects of the story even if it's not always easy. Tax is intense, he is demanding and from the start you are wondering how this is going to end.

description

For 14 years, Tax waited for the perfect moment to complete his revenge, his final goal. And from the start, his plan is questioned by Mia. He starts to question himself, he has doubts about what he wants but he kept needing all this to stop and finally achieve what's meant to happen.

Mia's not trying to change me, and that is what is incredible about her. In fact, she wants all of me as I am.

What happened 14 years ago?
How does Mia can be a gentle young woman who's so loving and caring after what happened?

Mia is really philisophe with what happens to her. Tax came into her life like a tornado and it left him no choice! She manage brilliantly everything Tax throw her way without breaking down! And that's what I like about a female character, that's what I look for when I read. When there's a certain fragility; a certain questioning even a little cracking but at the end someone who knows what she wants and is not afraid to go get it!

3.5 TO 4 STARS

Wow, this was definitely different. It was engaging, gritty, a bit dark and had loads of anticipation built in to make you sweat. I did love this, despite my rating but a couple things towards the end left me feeling conflicted. However, the story was original and had me glued to the pages. I thought Mia was an interesting character. Sweet, kind and forgiving, she was also hiding a dirty side to her. Working for a . She had a dichotomy to her that made her stand out and I could appreciate the complexity in character.

Tax was something else. He was also quite complex, reminding me of a wounded yet vicious animal. He was capable of love and loyalty but when he was wronged he did things that made me queasy. I couldn't say I liked him very much, but I did dig him and Mia together. The steam in this book was intense! Some scenes were incredibly erotic and packed a wallop. They seduced and enticed although towards the end I could have done with a few less scenes.
Jude was such a damaged woman. Damaged beyond repair, in my opinion. I believe she had issues that could profit a psychiatrist for the rest of his or her career and still not skim the surface of derangement she suffered. Her story was horrific and I couldn't imagine the hate she held so close, but she was also capable of horrible things that did nothing to appease her pain. But despite loving this and feeling the grit come off the pages there were some issues for me.
The pivotal development towards the end with . So although I loved this and the pacing, I couldn't get past that moment that changed the book for me. I know there are some arguments for what he did, but...no, I just can't stomach it.

The last thing that bothered me was the way things ended. I need closure. I need to know where Mia and Tax are in their relationship. Yes, the ending was good and I'm glad it ended the way it did. Time did nothing to change the depth of feeling and love between Mia and Tax, but how about an epilogue that's truly an epilogue not just a 'THE END'? And the whole Mia hiring someone to mock rape her wasn't an issue for me. I could believe it actually. But the retribution Showdown Tax did seemed very unlikely and lacked legal and forensic probability. But I could get past that and I did. Anyways, this was really good and I did love it minus my issues, but they bothered me enough that I couldn't overlook them. But really, if you're looking for grit and suspense with a heavy dose of steam and original plot then read this!

Oh WOW! This book was an amazing read! I am so glad I listened to my GR pals and picked it up! If this is on your TBR shelf, you need to stop what you are doing and read "Debt" right away! Just a warning though: It is dark, intense, the sex gives new meaning to the word raw, primal, and animalistic. WHEW! What I especially love about this read is that there is a ton of hard core sex....BUT: there is a major storyline as well. I will tell you, this story had me FEEL, and I mean that it was gut wrenching at times. I was literally sick to my stomach at times, and yet; I felt so much empathy for the characters involved. There are some parts to this story that will have you raging, and then in the next minute your heart will be melting. I have never felt so many different emotions within the same book before. I have heard it be said that not many authors could have pulled this story off...and I have to agree. Nina G. Jones did a beautiful job, and she is nothing short of brilliant. Her writing is flawless in so many ways. She blended the past and present perfectly and smoothly. I have nothing but good to say about this read. It won't be for everyone. At times, there are situations that are hard to take; but I guarantee to you that this book will make you feel deeply. This author is a writer who has talent; and I will now buy anything that she writes!

I don't even know where to begin explaining this storyline! I don't want to ruin anything, as it is a story that should be experienced without being told certain reveals.
We have Mia who is a character that on the outside is well put together and works very hard in her career. Deep down though she has a need to be dominated sexually...well..that is actually putting it mildly! Let me put it to you this way...Mia decides to set up a "mock attack" one night so that she can experience what it would be like to be raped. Yes, you read this right! When everything is put into place, she does begin to second guess her decision. The anticipation is killing her, and then when Tax shows up one night, there becomes a HUGE misunderstanding as to who he is. Let me tell you this...When these two come together sexually....it is beyond anything I have ever read before!!! The aggression and rawness of their screwing is holy hotness HOT!

I realize this is a very brief explanation, but I don't want to give away too much about Tax. This guy is one of the best anti-heroes I have ever read about. The author does a beautiful job of making you despise him at first; but then shoving a twist into the mix and having you feel major empathy for him. His intensity is to die for, and how he ends up feeling for Mia is all consuming. Here is an example of his passion for her:

"Because as soon as I leave after having you, I want you again. And then even when I have that, it's not enough. When I see another man look at you the way I do, I want to kill him. I want to swallow you. I want to consume you. I want to possess you...."

That is just a sample of what comes out of Tax! There is just so much I'd like to say; but I seriously don't want to ruin anything. All I can stress to readers is that this book is so much more than sex. Please don't get me wrong...there is a ton of sex...and there is nothing pretty about it! It is beyond anything you have ever read before though. This story though, it has grit, and at times it is gruesome. There are situations that will shock you, and have you feeling all sorts of emotions. I just can't express enough how this is a MUST read for dark romance lovers.
I highly recommend it! The only thing that I would want different, would be to have an Epilogue that gives us a glimpse into the future. Other than that, this read was perfect for me.
Mia and Tax are characters that will live in my head and heart for years to come. This is a book that I will never ever forget! An absolute EPIC read for me!

5+++ Indebted Stars!

description

First off, HOLY CRAP. I LOVED THIS BOOK.

The whole premise of the book was crazy. Mia signs up for a website that offers her the chance to live out her "rape" fantasy with a good looking man. They give her a safe-word to say and never tell her exactly when the rape will occur. She gets home one day to find a man in her apartment. She is immediately attracted to this man and of course, she gives herself to him. A few days later, she is dragged into a van...confused as to why they sent TWO men to fulfill her fantasy, she immediately screams out the safe word. The man backs away and leaves Mia feeling completely dumbfounded and scared shitless. She realizes that the man who attacked her at the apartment was not sent from the website and that he actually DID rape her. Even more confusing to her is the fact that she actually liked it.

The man who attacked her at her apartment was none other than the sexy Tax. He has been watching and waiting to kill Mia for years. Tax and his sister have plotted revenge against Mia for many years, and finally seeing his chance to FINALLY kill her- he takes it. Only it didn't go according to plan. The reader knows that Mia thought he was a role-playing actor, but Tax is completely befuddled as to her reaction to him. Little does Mia know, her playing along and enjoying what Tax was doing is what saved her life.

What else can I say about Tax other than the fact that he was, quite literally, NUTS. He was so hell bent on revenge for so long that it was all he knew.

"Hate can become so ingrained in you that it becomes part of your identity, your psyche."

That being said, I felt for him and his sister. They had something VERY bad happen to them when they were younger, and felt that Mia was the reason for all of it. I won't get into any more details than this, just do yourself a favor and don't judge Tax so harshly in the beginning. He has his reasons.

The book is also filled with many twists and turns. MANY of them left me with WAY too many feels to comprehend! Shock, confusion, sadness, and my favorite feel- TOTALLY TURNED ON.

reread, december 2021 ⤞ 5 stars.

I'm getting just as emotionally fucked up as I did the first time I read this.

✄┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈

5 stars ☆

❛Reckless. Irresponsible. Dirty. Dangerous.
Exhilarating. Erotic. Wild. Euphoric.❜

oh, and don't forget ruthless, filthy, brutal, merciless, raw, animalistic and pitch fucking black.

“You crazy bitch,” he says with a smirk. “You wanna fuck like animals? I’ll fuck you like an animal. You’ll howl like a motherfucking animal.”

— songs:
· okay by chase atlantic.
· numb to the feeling by chase atlantic.

I woke up and still thought about the beginning, the middle and the end. I even went back to confirm my doubts―I thought I imagined it due to sleep deprivation―about the last pages of the book. my feelings are still mumbled and jumbled, so I don't want to talk about the ending, but when I reached it, it felt as if someone dumped a bucket of ice cold water on me.

❛He’s light and dark, forgiveness and vengeance, beauty and ugliness. He’s all those things. My beautiful savage.❜

that's it. this book ruined me for other books. It tested my comfort zone. my gosh, it also physically and mentally drained―and emotionally exhausted me. how can I love a book that's so wrong on so many levels?

"It’s 2am and I am lurking on the deep web for a male prostitute to mock-rape me. This calls for more wine."

Debt is what I would characterize as a psychological thriller or a dark romance. Nina G. Jones certainly knows how to write. The text is rich with detail and yet doesn't overwhelm the senses. The plot is intriguing and the characters are authentic. This story will sweep you under like a tsunami. It is relentless.

description

Mia is a hardworking girl. She is thriving in the work place and has good friends. One night her friend tells her about a recent sexual encounter. Mia learns about a website that offers a special service. You can hire a man to come in to your home and "rape" you. Although Mia knows it is wrong and twisted, she forges forward and decides to check out the service herself. Who doesn't like a heroine that makes crazy decisions that you can live vicariously through? Not that I would ever want to experience something like that.....or would I?!?!?

"Yes, I’d like to schedule my assault for Thursday at 6pm. Yes, my place is fine."

To her surprise the experience turns out to be the most erotic event she have ever experienced.

"His mouth is all over my torso, savagely kissing, biting, consuming. I can’t tell what stings and what pleases me as he mixes softness with savagery. I want it so much that my body fights him."

Mia has no clue what she is getting herself into. As the puzzle pieces begin to fall into place, we find out who Tax is. He has been watching Mia for a long time. He wants to make Mia pay.

description

When Mia realizes that things are not as they seem, she has a moment of panic. I love this moment in the book because we see her come to terms with her lack of judgement. She struggles with what is right and wrong or black and white. Or is everything just grey?

Tax believes that he must make Mia pay.

"Oh god, I need to see a doctor right away. Sure he wore an expensive suit and was impeccably groomed, but that doesn’t mean shit. This isn’t right."-Mia

description

At this point in the read, I am questioning my own sanity. I am dying to know who Tax is. What debt does Mia have to pay? What could she have possibly done to deserve the torture she is receiving?

Tax is unforgiving with the rage he unleashes on Mia. He is physically, emotionally, and sexually abusive towards Mia.

“I f*ck you when I want, how I want. I own you. Period. Don’t pretend like you have any sort of say in this. Don’t convince yourself that you can play mind games with me, because you will lose. Every. Single. Time."-Tax

Everything is so twisted because he uses sex to hold her hostage. She cannot help her attraction to him. Despite the sickness of the situation, Mia is attracted to him. She wants to figure out who he is and what he thinks she has done!

As the story is slowly unfolding, Tax begins to fall in love with Mia. He is such a hard man with a twisted soul. And yet, Mia brings out his light.

This book is so relevant to everyone. Even though the circumstances were over the top, the truth is we all crave things that aren't good for us. We all love things that are wrong or bad. We all fight to make things right or ok.

"Hate can become so ingrained in you that it becomes part of your identity , your psyche. You define yourself with that hatred, so that if it leaves and there is nothing else to replace it, you lose a piece of yourself. I think when you feel anything strong enough it becomes its opposite. I think you can love someone so hard that you hate them. And I think you can hate someone so hard you grow attached. That’s why some people spend their whole lives hating someone they repeatedly invite into their lives: they don’t even know who they are without it."

In the end, all is revealed.
description

Overall this book was a difficult read for me. It like witnessing a train wreck. You know it's not going to be easy to watch and yet you just cannot tear your eyes away. I started this book and couldn't put it down until it was finished. My heart was breaking in one moment and in the next my heart beat was going crazy reading about these two together. I went from hating Tax to loving him. The only reason I rated this book a 4 star instead of a 5 is because I felt like the ending was too short. I wanted so badly for an extra chapter or epilogue. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys some darkness in the romance. This is one book you do not want to miss.

"We are the thing of beauty created from catastrophe. We are the light burning bright , forged from an impossible collection of coincidences."

Special thanks to my Turning Pages at Midnight Posse! Another great BR!

In the beginning of the book I kept asking my self WTF? How can I read this and love it...I mean I'm a Psychologist of God's sake...I really have to start psychoanalysing myself because this is not happening?!?!??!

I can not be enjoying this!!!!!!!!

description

But as I kept reading I started to love the book more and more but there must be something wrong with me for loving it so much...right?

description

...and so I did...

During the book I discovered that Tax is actually my brother from another mother. Why do you ask? Well because he is half Romanian (like me...well I'm actually 100% Romanian :P). That's why naming him Silvio doesn't work...if his names was Silviu I would have believed it but Silvio is an Italian name...not Romanian.

Also Draconi is not a Romanian name but where reading fiction not history right? Some may call it artistic license...I call it: NEED FOR A FACT CHECK :P

description

All in all it was a great book, well written, with great sex scenes and just HOT HOT HOT!!!!

Ohhh and...this was me during the entire book...

G&J: Sometimes we pick up a book because of the Author’s warning. A warning usually means we’re going to be shocked. We enjoy being shocked no matter the emotional reason. Well; this time we were proper SHOCKED. We could not believe that an Author had this story in her head never mind put it down on paper. It was one hell of a fucked up story. But you know what’s even more fucked up? We couldn’t put it down. We were drawn like moths to a flame; like a kid to a candy shop…well you get our point we’re sure. It was a train wreck of emotions. We should not have been unable to put this book down; we should have rationally thought nope; this is too much. But we didn’t and this is one of those times where we can honestly say we have no idea why we loved this book as much as we did or even why we kept reading. It was horrific and went against natural instincts. It had so many triggers that it’s only right to warn you that this book is NOT for everyone. Please heed the warnings.

‘My Dad used to warn me that the devil doesn’t have horns and a pitchfork, he’ll appear as the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen. He’ll make you laugh. He’ll make you feel good. You’ll do things you never thought you would, but he’ll tell you it’s okay. And before you know it, you’ve sold your soul to him.’

So at the base of the traumatic and evil is a fundamental fucked up intense love story; yes we found and felt it despite the wrapping disguising it in complete and utter darkness and brutality. It was incredibly well written and this Author certainly has a flair for the detailed dramatics. It was eerie, haunting and quite frankly one hell of an ugly heart-breaking story. Yet; there was enough humanity, love, passion and vulnerability to draw us in and capture us from page one. Debt needed to be well written for it to work. It was and it did. The characters owned us. All of them.

‘This man is my stalker, my terrorizer, my lover.’

This story is revenge. It’s love. It’s retribution. It’s pure uninhibited passion. It’s evil. It’s heart-breaking. It’s a complete mind-fuck. The violence and erotica; the graphic nature will shock and disturb you. This story is a crazy arsed ride that had us falling in love with a man who on the surface is what we hate and what we fear. This is fiction not reality and we’ll be damned if we didn’t fall in love with him and this story. It makes no sense but then again in fiction sometimes that’s what has us riveted.

‘He’s light and dark, forgiveness and vengeance, beauty and ugliness. He’s all those things. My beautiful savage.’

This story is nothing like anything we’ve read in a long while and we feel slightly mad and irresponsible for recommending it. But recommend it we do! Bloody hell what a book; we were split between fuming in anger and crying big fat tears!!!!

Nina G. Jones this was our first and you blew us away and still have us talking! We could’ve kept reading….sometimes the illogical becomes the logical. Sometimes an Author takes you past your comfort zone and gets it right. That’s what happened here!

‘Reckless. Irresponsible. Dirty. Dangerous. Exhilarating. Erotic. Wild. Euphoric. How can one thing be all of those?’

First of all, MANY THANKS to the lovely Jade Violet for loaning this book to me! I saw it pop up a lot recently on my timeline (there must have been a BR somewhere), and I was intrigued. Thanks so much for sharing with me, Lady! xoxo

I'm letting this one sink in a little more before I rate it. More to come...

Things I liked:
--- Super hot, sex early & often
--- Dark fantasies explored
--- Some character development

Things I didn't like as much:
--- It definitely needs a better editor; the writing was a little more choppy than I usually enjoy
--- The H was not only super damaged, but he was probably a sociopath. Didn't like how he treated the h for 90% of the book, so it was hard for me to reconcile his actions with his reasons for taking them
--- I also really disliked the way the author ended the book (super rushed; seemed unnecessary). --- Not a fan of the replacing birth control pills on the H's part, despite his "reasons" - trapped pregnancies are not cool
--- NO ONE asked for a "sexy tampon removal scene;" No. One.

Plot --- /5
Main Characters --- /5
Supporting Cast --- /5
Steam Level* --- 4.5/5 (everything but including another person)
Violence --- yes, with potential triggers (descriptions of child abuse; child gang rape and sodomy; rough, dubious consent sex; gun violence)
Language --- yes
POV --- Dual

*Note that steam level is not a rating so much as a how hot was it: 0/5 - clean; 1/5 - mild (nothing descriptive); 2/5 - 3rd base action/1 home run; 3/5 - now we're getting somewhere (a couple of full-on steamy scenes); 4/5 - yes please! (erotica territory); 5/5 - they did EVERYTHING in this one, y'all
