The Armenia Caper: Where Spies Shake Hands and Devils Hide There are spy novels and then there adventure novels. The Armenia Caper falls between the two. It should be clear to readers not all Spy assignments are exciting, filled with danger and murder. Sometimes there are straight forward clever methods that are predominately detective work. The Armenian Caper holds both.
The Armenia Caper is drawn from but one visit of many to this amazing little country called Armenia. The history alone will keep anyone busy for years. Hunter Blacke Sometimes described as a 'Fixer' Early in life Hunter began exploring the corners of the world learning the respective cultures, and their differences. Enjoying the connection, Hunter choose his professional base skill-sets in the Tourism Industry.
Blacke was very intrigued by the, corporate, political and economic flavors representing the world's developing countries. Hunter fitted into the process as a tourism economic advisor, while exercising covert business and political intelligence gathering for hire, governments and corporate.
The thirst for suspense and the interesting people met, drove Hunter deeper into the community of intrigue, danger, suspicion and clandestine operations. Bordering the good and the bad was not always an easy task. The time was well masked within the cover of everyday professional work in Tour and Travel.
Until recently, nothing ever was discussed with family and friends about the numerous foreign trips,or,their purpose. Now semi- retired, the drive to put on the table some of the experiences, albeit primarily fictional accounts for obvious reasons, creates the perfect theatre to draft small abstracts from a life- long passion for serious adventure and thrills.
Hunter's specific assignment was the spread of democracy, and protection of individual freedoms. An advocate for freedom of expression, and the pursuit of personally set goals continues to be his guiding compass.
As a rule, I am very picky of what I read. I have far too many books on my TBR List to ever fuss over poorly written or disliked reading material. However, irrational thought processes must have invaded my brain out of an unreasonable desperation. Armenia is one Country that has very few books available via a library system or EBooks - my only outlet for books. (Unless I received a gift-card). In an attempt to add Armenia into my World Challenge, https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/.... {In the beginning, it was only a Challenge based in a Original UN Members Country but I am a glutton for punishment}. https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... I now have read a 2nd installment of the Hunter Blacke Chronicles. hunter blacke very short "book" The Armenia Caper: Where Spies Shake Hands and Devils Hide. Alluring Unpredictable and Always Dangerous. I find Hunter Blacke's writing style disjointed and unorganized. At times, there is an attempt of dry humor that simply falls flat. At times, the sentences are just badly worded. Where there is supposed to be "danger and unpredictable" suspense, it is just plain plodding. Armenia is simply described as a dismal place that is still struggling to get out from under Russia's rule. She is chocked full of international spies, scary and corrupt not so secret police, a struggling government and dilapidated society. There is a lackluster attempt to depict Armenian cultural pride, (mostly in her food). I wanted a true adventurous suspenseful caper. I wanted a rich description of the Armenian people and their thoughts. I got very little.
