K.C. Stewart is the USA Today Bestselling author of the Hailey Holloway series and most recently, the Adirondack Pack series. All her life she had fantasized and day-dreamed on a regular basis but it wasn’t until she began writing short stories that she made those fantasies a reality. She has graduated to novels but still dabbles in the occasional flash fiction and short story. Because of her love for reading and the written word, K.C. is currently continuing her education at Clarion University for Library Science. When she isn’t taking photographs, studying or writing, she is supporting a very real gummy bear habit. Currently, she lives with her boyfriend, german shepherds and cats in central Pennsylvania.
Hailey has sparked our hearts and attention and now she is back, in trouble and kidnapped. At least Dak is out of her head and into her life and his own body, a rather hot one, too! Love is blooming, but when these two communicate, or fail to, someone always gets singed. Welcome back into Hailey’s world of dragons and danger and snark in K.C. Stewart’s Singe. The big question is, WHO will get singed when the dragons rumble?
Back to the kidnapping-Hailey is now the prisoner of Dak’s sworn enemy, Silas, but what surprise does Silas have up his scales for Hailey? What big secret is he keeping and why is he allowing his minions to beat her, or does the cold-hearted dragon leader even know? Meanwhile, after another battle of the wills, Dak and Hailey are in another emotional time out and Dak’s past has come back to torment them both. Hailey may be his soulmate, but our Dak has another mate in his past; one who is conniving, evil, deceitful and determined to come between Dak and his human, Hailey. Will Hailey misunderstand everything she sees and hears or will she allow Dak to explain? Our Hailey? Fat chance! Get ready for one of the most lopsided love triangles in history, a huge reveal and more fun and laughs as once again, Hailey rushes headlong into trouble, her heart on her sleeve, while the rest of her is stubborn as a mule.
Again, I must bow to the mighty pen that K.C. Stewart wields! Not quite as laugh out loud funny, Hailey is seems to be taking a few hits on the chin, but will she recover in time to fight back, with her words, if not her fists? How has Ms. Stewart allowed such a wonderful character to get caught up in a world she is not equipped to deal with? Will Dak get tired of Hailey? K.C. Stewart has upped the ante for love and life, happiness and heartbreak, while putting a little polish on Silas’s tarnished scales. Is there a creature with a heart buried deep within? Who will be Hailey’s hero when her true past is torn wide open?
Style, pacing, dialogue and outstanding characters seem to come easy for Ms. Stewart. She writes with a bold hand, nothing is too over the top and there is no doubt that she loves what she is doing! No matter what genre you read these dragons and this heroine are going to grab your attention, your heart and your laughter.

Series: Hailey Holloway - Book 2 Publication Date: August 8, 2014 Publisher: K.C. Stewart Genre: Adult Paranormal Romance Print Length: 290 pages Available from: Amazon | Barnes & Noble Reviewed for: http://tometender.blogspot.com
Excellent, book 2 of 4 in the (Hailey Hallowell series). Book 1 was great, and book 2 is just as good if not better than the first book.
Hailey is human, and Dacia (Dak) as Hailey calls him is a red dragon, and former sec leader of the red dragons. The two of them are true mates, although Dak is moving a bit fast for Hailey, and she balks. I find him to be patient with her, and always wanting to talk things out, find a solution. Hailey has a tendency to shut down, wants to run when things get hard between them. It's just part of an insecurity she has from all the rejection she has had in her life.
Hailey is really a very strong, funny character that I love, as I do Dak, they are a charming couple. In this book we are introduced to some new characters, not all good, and a new adventure that takes it's toll on Hailey, but it doesn't break her. Silas the evil green dragon from book one is back, and makes more trouble. However, we see a different Silas in this book, and he unloads quite a secret on everyone.
Our old friends Lea the beautiful muse Goddess, and Darby the pixie looking witch are both back in this book, and have their parts to play. Lea really helps Dak with advice on Hailey since he sometimes can be cave manish. Lea is Hailey's best friend, and confident they became fast friends in book one. She also gets the surprise of her life in this book. Darcy the witch who was Dak's best friends mate whom died in book one. Dak thinks of her as a sister, and she was a great help in book 1, is called again for her help. Although, Darcy is withering away from the loss of her mate. Lea, and Dak notice this but see nothing they can do. We will have to see what happens with Darcy in book 3.
This book has twists and turns you don't see coming. It will keep you transfixed from beginning to end. If you get much sleep, you have more willpower then me. I just finished the book, and I am now giving my review at 2:30 a.m. It took me about 4 hours to read, although I nodded off, and had to go back to the last spot I remembered. Since I was not missing any of this book.
The characters are relatable, and you'll come to love them. It's like you know them, and you're on the journey with them. The writing is superb, the details perfection, the story encompassing, the plot surprising. Don't let this series pass you by, if you're into dragon books, and fantasy at it's finest this is for you. I am LOVING this series so far.
This book I think is for 17-18+ due to sex, and some violence.
Singe, (Hailey Holloway 2), K.C. Stewart Review from jeannie zelos book reviews I enjoyed book one, but felt that with Dak being in Hailey’s mind most of the while I didn’t really get the chance to see the characters together, but now they’re finally separated how will the romance develop? As far as Dak is concerned Hailey is his Mate; that’s it, she’ll move in and they’ll be fine. He’s forgotten though that humans don’t always move that fast...and Hailey isn’t a sweet little obedient miss, but a grown woman with her own plans and doesn’t take to being told what to do- even if its what she wants... So, they're working on that, getting along well. Dak is impatient to get Hailey moved in and can’t understand why she isn’t ready. It’s a kind of culture difference though and he can see that, and knows he needs to walk carefully around Hailey's feelings. Then she’s kidnapped and he’s distraught. I had the awful horror that we were not going to see Hailey and Dak together in this book either when that happened, but its not so. Phew! The kidnapping opens up a variety of plots, there’s Katherine – his ex Mate who’s decided she’s back to stay, and Hailey is an interloper. She wants Dak after leaving him hundreds of years ago, after their brief, disastrous relationship. She has her own reasons for that, and isn’t giving in to Hailey. Silas of course isn’t hiding, but planning his next moves and he’s keeping a huge secret that will affect all their lives. Its a fun read, and I enjoyed it more than the first book. The Dragon v Human differences which Dak and Hailey struggled with were very real feeling. Its kind of accepted that Shifter Alphas are very dominant and tend to give out commands rather than requests, and of course with Hailey having grown up relying inly on herself it’s easy to see why that causes friction. There’s allowances need to be made on both sides if they’re to live HEA. Katherine, the Ex, was a great “bad” lead. I love those, a real B-itchy character adds so much to the scene and creates lots of drama. There were a few quite gruesome moments in what’s essentially a light read....I wasn't expecting that, but it did fit in with the action at the time. Boo the cat – loved him, and he adds another interesting facet. Lia gets a surprise in this novel, something she’d hoped for but almost given up on. I did struggle a bit with Silas in this part, he was so evil last time, so full of hate and revenge that even though there was a plausible explanation I just found him too different in character, and Dak and the others a little too accepting of his changes. Still, it worked well at the end. Some of the questions that puzzled me in book one were answered in this book. There were quite a few typos/grammar errors here, but they were only minor irritations. I noticed especially the peek/peak/pique one that another reviewer mentions, and one that crops up time after time after time in fantasy/paranormal and really annoys me. Rouge – Rogue. Two very different things! When someone goes lawless it makes them a Rogue. Rouge is a red face powder, and when I read about shifters going Rouge I have a mental vision of them as some kind of over done, badly made up drag queen....and that’s not the image the authors intend Winking smile Stars: Four. I just can’t explain why this book (as well as book 1 in the series) is so amazing. Oh yes I can. Good writing and a unique plot. Before I say anything else let me say this…”You must get these books and read them.” Singe starts a short time after the end of Spark. The time lapse is explained easily and nothing is missed in the transition. Hailey and Dacea are enjoying being in their own bodies. They are a couple now dating and living the good life…for a couple chapters at least.
I’m still laughing in this book. That is one of the best things that Ms. Stewart does. She can have the reader laughing one minute then turn on the water works the next. These are perfectly normal reactions to a couple and life in general.
In this book we see that even though dragons live unnoticed in the world of humans there are many things that they just don’t understand about each other. In some ways it is like moving to another country and trying to maintain your cultural differences and then, surprise, surprise being angry because the locals don’t understand your way of thinking and living.
It is these differences that are woven throughout the storyline. Primarily we see the struggle between Dak (dragon) and Hailey (human) being a couple and not understanding the dating customs of their partner. They both recognize that they love each other but Hailey doesn’t understand what being the mate of a dragon really means. Dak doesn’t understand why Hailey is having problems being his mate. It is this struggle that is the foundation for this story.
The primary characters from book 1 are back in Singe. Darby and Lia are back to help with the magic that this couple needs. Silas, the villain, is back with a twist that I didn’t see coming but I love it so much. (Just so I don’t turn anyone away he isn’t going to cheat with or steal Hailey from Dak. I can’t tell you anymore because it will spoil the reveal.) I will say that Silas is still an SOB and will hurt for pleasure but we do see that he also has a heart even if he hides it deep.
The big, big villain in this installment of the story is Katherine, Dacea’s ex-mate from years, 750 years to be exact, ago. She wants Dacea back and she will do anything to get him.
I like this book more than the first. For me seeing Hailey and Dak in their own bodies and together as a couple is very enjoyable. I like their struggle as they learn about one another and address their differences and expectations.
As much as I like this book I couldn’t give it 5 stars because the typos are still there. Again the typos are an annoyance but they don’t take away from the story. They do, however, make me feel bad for Ms. Stewart because her staff let her down. There is no way a decent editor wouldn’t catch these. That said please read this series. They are great.

Singe is the sequel to Spark and picks up a week or so after the first book ends. Hailey has recovered and is thrilled to have Dak out of her head and into his own, brand new body. Meanwhile their old enemy, Silas, is not out of the count. The reasons for his odd behavior in book one become clear as the story unfolds, but he's not working alone. An old flame, a tragic history, and the continuing struggle for true love in the face of danger and adversity build this story into one that's hard to forget.
Let me start off by saying I liked the level of complexity built into the plot, particularly around Silas' character arc. It's one of those situations that the villain is given a soul and we are given a window into it. He's definitely evil, but there are glimmers of good, so deeply buried that Silas himself cannot reconcile himself with them. Then there's Alex. I really like him and how he's woven into the story and made part of the unofficial family that formed in the previous book. It's a little out of character how he came to be where Hailey meets him, but it's all linking back to the Silas character building. Hence, the complexity. The story sets up for a book three quite well.
As for Dak and Hailey's relationship, I found myself pretty confused in the beginning. There was a level of hostility and disregard for each other that I did not expect after the way things were going in Spark. It was incongruent and kind of shocking, hard to reconcile the mega-sized wrench that was tossed in the gears. Plus, after just witnessing a rather messy argument, I am just not feeling it when the two jump right into getting it on. Also, the story starts off with an abundance of crude language, talking dirty, cussing aloud and in thoughts, that sort of thing. I don't mind that in small doses, but it seems out of place when paired with the quirky and lighthearted humor that is one of my favorite features of this and the previous book.
Overall, I enjoyed this book, but it kind of shocked me in places. I would recommend this to fans of YA/NA urban fantasy. Readers who prefer a cleaner read may not find this to their liking, while those who prefer edgy and sexy fiction will probably find it right up their alley. I wouldn't recommend this to younger readers due to the violent and sexual content.
I received an e-copy of this book in return for an honest and fair review. This review was written for the Pure Textuality blog at puretextuality.com.

Singe is book two in the Hailey Holloway series. I recommend that book one, Spark is read first.
Book two is full of action and does not disappoint in being an excellent follow on. Plenty of room is left for book three with unfinished business.
My new favorite kooky heroine is back. Hailey Holloway could be my new best friend – obviously if she was real. Her wit, sarcasm and strength are back and demonstrated whilst she is being held hostage. Here she was enjoying life with her mate Dacea who was finally back in a real body, when she is drugged and kidnapped off the street. She is kept comfortable whilst held captive and meets Alex, in the adjoining cell, who we find out has been missing from his mate for several years.
Dacea re-enlists the help of muse Lia and witch Darby to help find his mate. This is not made easy with the return of his short-term mate of 750 years ago, Katherine.
Whilst Silas is redeeming himself from being the sadistic monster of book one, his place as evil villain is taken by Katherine. The harpy will do everything she can to win her mate back, and not because she loves him, but because she sees him as a prize.
Meanwhile Silas has a secret. He may have found the baby sister he thought dead for so many years. He will do what it takes to secure his part in her life, even if it means joining forces with the enemy.
I highly recommend this series. The characters are so likeable that I feel invested in their lives. I found myself cheering for the faithfulness Dacea had for his relationship with Hailey. He was offered his former mate on a platter, but chose to stay faithful to his true mate Hailey. He really grew as a man in this book in the way he learnt to read Hailey and understand her inner workings and insecurities. I love a male lead that has high values.
I look forward to reading book three when we find out if Katherine gets what is coming to her nasty harpy self and if Darby gets a happy ever after.
My only criticism is that the writing could use some polishing up on the editing. I continued to find many incorrect word uses, however this did not detract from the story too much.
*This book was given to me by the author in exchange for an honest review*
Singe takes place just a little while after Spark. Hailey and Dacea are now dating and they couldn’t be happier. Dacea has a new home and wants to show it off to Hailey. All Hailey wants is to consummate their relationship since he didn’t have a physical body before, and Hailey was in the hospital for a while. Dacea explains that since Hailey and he are mates that he expects her to move in right away. Hailey is blindsided with that proposal and even though she loves him, she thinks things are going a little fast. They argue and Hailey ends up leaving. Dacea goes after her and they make up and he thinks that that was the end of it and still expects her to still move in right away. After another argument Dacea goes home and Hailey calls Lia for a little girl time for the next day. Hailey sets out to meet with Lia but a surprise from Dacea’s past, who everyone thought was dead, comes and kidnaps her. Hailey is taken to a place where she is locked up and she finds out that Silas is the one holding her. However, Silas has a completely different reason for wanting her this time that is a very good and surprising twist. After not hearing from her for a few hours Lia and Dacea do a spell and find out that she was taken and will do anything they can to get her back. However the surprise from Dacea’s past will also do whatever to get Hailey out of the way and get back into Dacea’s life. I thought this was a very good follow up to Spark. The characters are still really great and Silas’s reason for kidnaping Hailey are very shocking. It’s a completely different feel to the first one because there isn’t as much action but it makes up for it with new and shocking twists and turns.

I am so excited to be reviewing this book, because I loved it just as much as I loved the first book, Spark. I actually think I enjoyed this book even more than the first book! In this book, there is some tension in the relationship between Dak and Hailey, which I think, only made their bond stronger. There was plenty of romance in this book to make my heart explode with happiness.
""Hailey, you are my Céile. My Mate, my partner, the one thing that makes me real." He kissed her, soft and assuring. He told her with his body what he had trouble expressing with his worlds. "I love you, Céile.""
There were some things revealed in this book that came as huge surprises that I really enjoyed. In the book, Hailey gets kidnapped by Silas. At first, I obviously hated Silas, but by the end of the book, I loved his character. I won't say why (no spoilers!), but I was pleasantly surprised with the development of his character. If you are a fan of Dak and Hailey (like me!) you do not have to worry about a love triangle between Dak, Hailey, and Silas. However, Dak's ex-mate tries to take Dak back, which adds some drama to the story.
I just love this book series so much. The dragon aspect is something I enjoy so much about this series. I also love the romance, action, and mystery that occur in every book. I cannot wait for the next book, Scorch, to come out. I will be reading it the day that it comes out! I really enjoy this book series, and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves paranormal romances.
OK! Well this one gets even better! Because Hailey and Dak solved one problem, now we’re on to the next. I am going to try really hard not to spoil anything for you here. OK, so Hailey found a way to help Dak, but now she needs the help. After overcoming her “illness” at the end of book one, she needs to help him get his head out his… yeah that. And in the process, she is kidnapped. Now, we meet some new characters, and I love them too! Silas isn’t the biggest baddest guy anymore, someone else from Dak’s past is very intent on hurting Hailey. And some from the present are bent on keeping Dak in his place, which is not with the dragons.
Hailey has grown so very much. She is still a little lacking on confrontations, but she is so much better. She will stand up for herself, and she will find a way to get back up when she’s knocked down. She’s also becoming great at helping others around her. I can’t say much more without telling you actual things and then spoiling it for you. :)
Dak is learning that his way is not always the right way, and women need to be treated kind, not ordered to do things. He’ll learn. And then he really gets a nice swift kick in the booty when Hailey gets kidnapped. He will do anything to find her and get her back. And now, he’s got a whole new enemy.
This one is awesome. We see our favorite characters and meet great new ones. The plot has just blown the roof off and now with this new threat I can’t wait to see where we’ll get to go!! GIMME GIMME BOOK THREE, like right now! pretty please. 5 PAWS, 5 Dragon CLAWS, 5 everything! Well done!! :)
Singe is book 2 of the Hailey Hollow series. It's packed full of suspense, plot twists, and action!
Just when things are looking good and her boyfriend has his own body back, Hailey finds herself kidnapped and in a cell in Silas' dungeon. Oddly enough, Silas isn't cruel to Hailey, and even tries to amuse and spend time with her. He's even gone as far as to bring some of her personal items for comfort. The reasons for his unexpected kindness will blow you away.
Dacea is ready for him and Hailey and begin their lives together. He thinks she needs to move in to his house so she can be protected, but Hailey needs a little space to herself. She heads into town to blow off some steam when she is captured. While Hailey is locked away, Katherine, Dacea's old mate, shows up and tries to rekindle an old flame. Dac wants nothing to do with her and tries keeping her away. How will Hailey feel when she learns that Katherine is back? He wants Katherine gone so he can focus on finding Hailey, but Katherine won't be swayed. They're still mates, after all.
There is so much going on in this book. Many secrets are revealed. You learn a little more about Hailey's past, including info on her parents. The plot twists are crazy. New characters that I love are brought into the series. Will Dacea and Hailey have their happily ever after, or will Katherine come between them and end it for them once and for all? I loved this book and can't wait for Scorch, the next book in the series.
This is the second book in the Hailey Holloway series. You do need to read Spark, the first book, before reading Singe. Singe picks up a short time after Spark ends.
Hailey is healed and now out of the hospital. Her and Dak are now dating. He is no longer just a voice in her head, but has his body back. Their relationship isn't an easy one. They do love each other and accept that they are mates, but Hailey still needs her space and he is ready for them to be officially mated.
"'I love you." He leaned down and kissed her. "I know." Hailey smiled with a mischievous twinkle in her eye. "I love you like a fat kid loves cake." He laughed. "You sure know how to make a moment special, Babe."
Silas is still up to no good. But, he does end up redeeming himself some, in my book. I'm still unsure about him, but I know he would never, intentionally hurt Hailey. Well, more than he already has.
A blast from Dak's past, Katherine, is back, and now they are on the verge of a war.
This is a great continuation of the series. I still love the banter between Hailey and Dak. And now between Hailey and Silas. I will be starting Scorch right now.
Hailey and Dak are back. Finally getting through their trial and Dak having his own body, then slowly getting used to the fact that they are true Mates. When suddenly she is kidnapped right off the street by someone for Silas, who has some information for her that turns her world upside down. After some terrible things happen her and her new friend Alex escape from Silas' home and return to Dak. Unfortunately Katherine, Dak's crazy ex has come back into the picture and is trying to cause problems between Dak and Haley. Will they be able to get through their new problems and find their way into being Mates again or will Katherine succeed and destroy what they have so tentatively built? This book was just as good as the first, this series is one of the best I've read in a while. I enjoy the characters in the story almost as much as the story itself. I believe that you'll get a kick out of the story and you'll laugh and cry all at the same time. I recommend everyone read the series.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed reading "Singe". It had me chuckling throughout. I love all of Hailey's quirks. I'm smiling now just thinking of her being pissed because she wanted sex with Dak, and he thought she didn't like his house. (Read the book, you'll understand what I'm talking about.) I loved that all of the old gang was brought back together. Darby's plight had me very sad. She's part of the gang. That's not supposed to happen. I loved the surprise that Lia got when Hailey finally escaped her kidnappers. Then we have Katherine. I hate her. I'm still not even sure why she wanted Dak back. She seemed to be a little airheaded to me, she thought she was only gone a few years not centuries. I could keep going, but I don't want to give everything away.
Overall, this was a great book. It was fun, made me laugh out loud. It was fast, I finished it in one sitting. Finally, it made me want more of Hailey and Dak. I can't wait to read more of their story.
I feel I was a bit lucky in this read. I read book one right before I read book two, so there was no gap for me in time to forget or fall out of love with these characters. I must say that I love Hailey. She is one of my new favorite female characters. Her wit and sarcasm are classic. I fell more in love with Dak's character in book two.
This book has plenty of action and I love it. I must also say I love the world Stewart has created. The shifter world is a fun one to read about and she does a wonderful job creating it. In book one we had a great villain. In book two he steps aside some what for a new villain to take the lead. I have to say, I love a good villain. Katherine is a great one. The ex-mate of Dak and she is back for him.
A great read overall. I'm always a fan of the paranormal. This book did not disappoint. I can't wait to see where this story goes in the next installment. Bring it on. I only wish I didn't have to wait.
There is no way to explain how amazing this book was. It was absolutely spectacular. K.C really did a great job with this book. I look forward to reading more from this author. I really loved the plot and story of this book. I also fell more in love for the characters this time. I was shocked to discover some of the relations but it made the story so much better. Decea is a wonderful character. He's very protective, hard headed, and has the skills that everyone loves there partner to be. I love the fact that he is a dragon and has his body back to experience a life with Hailey. This story has it moments and you feel what the characters feel. This was an exciting story to be able to read. I really recommend this story to anyone that loves, dragons, romance, and fast pace.
Hailey's being held prisoner. Three guesses whodunit, but you only need one! Her cellmate is none other than...well, read to find out!
Silas' secret is a doozy and the revelation will cause a big stir. I can't wait for the next book to find out how (if) things get resolved.
Katherine is my new favorite person to hate and Dacea is even more likeable now that he's in the flesh.
While the book does seem to meander its way through the plot and to the finish, I did enjoy it, overall. If you loved the first one, you definitely don't want to miss book two.
Highly addictive I couldn't put it down once I started I had to finish it but at same time didn't want to. The secrets and the love and fighting is what brings the characters to life and makes it almost real. the storyline was a bit of a shock to me but makes me wonder how things will work out from here.
Finding out the truth can hurt more than not knowing. Fate is twisted and loves throwing a curveball buy your copy today to see what is installed for them.
I can't wait to read scorched and see what happens next.
Such a good book! I have really not read many books about dragons. They take a different approach to mates than some others I have read. Besides that I loved it. Hailey and Dacea are a very interesting couple. She is taken and not sure if he will come. Katherine, Dacea first mate, shows up to even though she is not wanted. Will hailey and Dacea get through this. I cant wait to read more from this author! Such amazing stories! I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book is the second book in the series. It still continues to keep interested and guessing to what is to happen next. In this book so many things happen and so much much information is given. Hailey finds herself in a bit of trouble. Things happen to Hailey that she is not sure she can heal from. I am looking forward to the next book. I am eager to find out how things end. I reviewed this ARC for SNS reviews.
*****Nicole's Review***** I was given this ARC for an honest review. This book is the second book in the series. It still continues to keep interested and guessing to what is to happen next. In this book so many things happen and so much much information is given. Hailey finds herself in a bit of trouble. Things happen to Hailey that she is not sure she can heal from. Wow, that escalated quickly. I never anything coming, but yeah I had my doubt about Silas and Hailey. Oh and wow the end is so troyish lol. I liked it, I can't wait to read number 3
Just when you’d expect their happily ever after to take place back from god knows where comes a harpy. Hailey is the one needing salvation this go ‘round. This story does not disappoint!
As the series continues I'm even more hooked as the story takes some twist and turns but keeps getting better I'm looking forward to the third book in the series . still a must read series.
Book 1 as tolerable. This one took a nosedive. Our heroine is rather wishy-washy with her feelings. The big "twist" was extremely predictable. I'm not sure I'll continue the series.
