It's helpful before writing a business plan and as you launch a new business, as well as changing the way you market an existing practice. Don't expect a hard core list of to do items that sell, but rather some inner work that creates a better marketing style fit.
I found this book to be useful. It gave me some good questions to ask myself in setting up my business. It gave me a different perspective on how I want to market myself. I particularly appreciated the sample business plan questions.
