He’s wounded, bitter, and stuck in an RV. She’s the one that got away...literally. One road trip is about to change everything.
After a dumb accident sidelines prospect Rick Sanford, he’s assigned the last thing he wants...retrieving an RV from Portland for the club. But the real punch to the gut? He’s not riding back alone.
Mallory Martin was his girl. Until three years ago, when she disappeared without a word… and took his heart with her. Now she’s back in his life, claiming it was all a mistake. A phone number off by one digit. A message that never reached him. A choice she thought she had to make alone.
Trapped together in the close quarters of an aging RV, old wounds resurface. So do feelings neither of them ever truly buried. Tension turns to heat. Regret becomes revelation. And one explosive night proves that the fire between them never really died.
But love on the open road is one thing. Love back in the real world? That’s a whole different journey.
Lost love. Raw truth. A second chance worth the risk.
✔️ Second Chance Romance ✔️ Forced Proximity ✔️ Road Trip ✔️ Miscommunication / Lost Message ✔️ Redemption Arc ✔️ Found Family ✔️ Steamy Flashbacks ✔️ MC Club Brotherhood
He Was Stuck in an RV, I Was Stuck on Them—This Second-Chance Biker Romance Gave Me All the Feels (and All the Heat) Listen. When I say I devoured this one, I mean it. “Lost Years and Love Returns” gave me that delicious emotional gut-punch I live for in second-chance romances—and then followed it up with the kind of scorching heat that had me fanning myself with my own Kindle. Jessie Cooke, ma’am. You knew what you were doing with this one. Let’s talk Rick and Mallory. Their story isn’t just angsty—it’s layered, raw, and so damn real. Rick is wounded—physically, yeah, but it’s the emotional bruising that got me. That man is bitter, grumpy, and all kinds of shut down. And then boom—Mallory shows up. The one that slipped through his fingers three years ago. Or rather, vanished with no warning and a piece of his heart still in her pocket. I felt that reunion. The tension? Off the charts. You know those book moments where the air practically crackles because the unresolved feelings are just that intense? That was this entire road trip. Trapped in an RV together, running on gas station coffee and buried resentment, it’s impossible for them to avoid the truth—or the very not-dead-at-all attraction. And I love that Jessie didn’t go the cliché route with the miscommunication. That "wrong phone number" detail? Ugh. It hurt. Because it made sense. It wasn’t malicious. It was life getting messy, and her trying to protect him and ultimately breaking both of them in the process. That’s the kind of heartbreak that stays with you. But y’all... when the dam finally breaks and they give in? I had to brace myself. The chemistry is explosive—there’s a flashback scene that lit me on fire—but it’s the emotional payoff that really made me swoon. These two aren’t just rekindling something old—they’re building something new on the ashes of what could’ve been. The forced proximity, the found family vibes from the MC, the road trip setting where every mile strips away another layer—it all worked. This story had teeth, heart, and heat. And I love that Jessie doesn’t shy away from showing love in its messy, complicated, grown-up form. Rick and Mallory earned their second chance, and I was cheering like hell for them by the end. So yeah. I came for the tattooed biker and the curvy, stubborn woman who broke his heart. I stayed for the healing, the heat, and the kind of love that refuses to die. This one’s going straight to my re-read pile.💥💀❤️🔥
Lost Years: And Love Returns is Book 7 of the East LA Skulls MC Biker Romance series. It's a short and steamy, OTT, forced-proximity, second-chance, MC romance. Rick is a hunky, somewhat grumpy member of the East LA Skulls MC. Mallory is a sassy, feisty photographer. The two dated until 3 years ago when Mallory disappeared. When Rick is instructed by Knox to pick up an RV in Portland and bring it back to LA, he never expects Mallory to be there. When they are forced to travel together, old hurts and feelings resurface, along with the realization that the hurt was caused by huge misunderstandings on both parts. Can they find their way back to each other? Yes! Their chemistry was pure fire, and the ending was so happy. I'm a sucker for a good second chance romance, and this did not disappoint. I loved it.

Knox informs rick he is going to Portland to pick up an RV which was left to them by a member of the club who has recently passed away. What he doesn't realise is that he'll have an additional passenger.....His ex!
Mallory and Rick don't want to travel back to LA together, but according to Roy's last wishes, that's exactly what they will have to do.
They may have started out angry and upset for the situation they have been put in, but it makes them confront the past and why their relationship fell apart. What Rick finds out shocks him about what Mallory had to go through by herself. Feelings that never went away come to the surface, and both realise that they have never stopped loving each other. Can this time be any different?.

Lost Years: And Love Returns is fantastically written, well balanced and beautifully executed by Jessie Cooke. She continues to showcase what an amazing author she is with each book I’ve read by her so far. I can’t wait to see what her next book will be about. The characters are fabulously written and beautifully executed throughout the book. I absolutely enjoyed getting to know the main characters as well as seeing their story come to life through the pages of this book. I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a novel that can be read in an hour or so. The story is captivating from start to finish, entertaining and an enjoyable read.

I loved this book. Despite being a short novella it had everything – great, well-developed characters, engaging plot and a positive look in life, despite the hardships. Rick and Mallory were torn apart three years ago to a misunderstanding – and failed technology. Bitterness lingered in both of them. But a forced road trip, carefully orchestrated for their behalf by the people who love them, comes to change everything. The way back to each other is not an easy one, but I enjoyed every word. A great novella and an amazing addition to the series. 5 stars.

Rick and Mallory. Love these short sexy reads by Jessie Cooke. They are each about a different couple but the MC story continues in each. Theres humor. Theres passion. Hes sent to pick up something out of state. With one condition. No way. A condition he knew only too well. The road trip from He!!. With all the arguing and tension its surprising they dont explode. Loved their banter. Just a step away from that blurred line. Memories good and bad. A matchmaking widow and two club Prez's. Not only a journey from Portland to LA but a journey back to each other.

Doing a favor for the MC led to Rick and Mallory being stuck on a road trip after years of not being together and a lot of miscommunication. The trip was mandatory and it meant a couple days stuck together in a RV. The tensions were high and due to a series of events the trip became longer than they expected. However, they started talking and soon realized that neither of them really ever wanted to be apart. This was another good book in this series.

Rick is not happy about being sent to Portland to pick up a RV that the club inherited but Knox wanted him to do it. When he gets there he finds out the one woman who has soured him on love will be his passenger going back. She had disappeared without a trace and shut off her phone.
Mallory was heartbroken when she never heard back from Rick after she left him a message. The trip back gives the pair plenty of time to go over old hurts and misconceptions. This is a steamy read with a lot of drama.

I love East LA Skulls Biker Romance series and Rick's Story was great compliment to add. Road Trip or Therapy session - too painful implication of misunderstanding, of missing voicemail. Their past and present colliding, but future is unwritten. What they will decide? Well orchestrated by their friends, their found family to let them kill each other or find their way together. Great characters - Rick and Mallory, well written story, perfectly fits in the series. Enjoyed it.

Rick was involved in an accident that left him not being able to ride his bike. He's been assigned a task, and he's to retrieve an RV for the club. This trip brings him back in touch with his past.
Mallory doesn't expect that Rick is the biker coming for the RV. Now, they are forced into close proximity, where they discover that a miscommunication is what prevented them from being together.
Will they finally deal with the past and find a future together?.

Such wonderful quick stories that are so enjoyable. Rick and Mallory are awesome! They’ve come to realize everything was a big misunderstanding and decide that they shouldn’t have given up so easily. It’s great that they communicated even though they had such anger between them. A great reconnection! Spicy and sweet!.

The book I’m reviewing today is titled, Lost Years: And Love Returns which is the seventh installment of the East LA Skulls MC Biker Romance Book series written by Jessie Cooke. Mallory and Rick have a bunch of misunderstanding, steam, love, tears in this quick paced Insta love story. I enjoyed the road trip story that was set up by Knox and Dex. I can't wait to read Thunders story.

Misunderstandings, second chances, emotional, MC bikers, steamy and happily-ever-after. Rick and Mallory have been apart for three years. A voicemail that never reached Rick, a meddling mother lying to Mallory, neither reached out enough to talk through their hurt. One long trip, one beat up old RV,and a club full of matchmaker help them to have a long over due conversation.

He was just doing a job for the club and never thought he would see her again. She is there by design as well as him but neither know the truth. They never had the closure that they deserved. When they finally talk maybe things will be clear.

I enjoyed lost years & love returns which was Rick and Mallory’s story. I was an emotional roller coaster for me. Loved it. Am voluntarily leaving this review.
A great second-chance romance! The misunderstanding that kept them apart was finally revealed, and being forced together on a road trip created the perfect setup for tension, reflection, and heartfelt moments. As they were finally pushed to communicate, the layers of what went wrong began to unravel in such a satisfying way. Their chemistry, unresolved emotions, and the slow rebuilding of trust made this story a compelling read. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in the series!.
