VAMPYRE A new chapter in the Devil series. In 16th-century Croatia, Elton Grando was a father, a husband, and a man of trade. But when he defied the brutal Venetian regime, the Devil offers him a die and be forgotten, or rise as something new.
Turned by a Collector, Grando becomes the world’s first Vampyre. He is bound by ancient laws, cursed to feed, and tasked with restoring balance in a world teetering on chaos.
But the equilibrium is fragile, and power, once tasted, always demands more. As Grando builds his undead kingdom in the shadows of Istria, the Republic prepares for war and the Devil becomes an unlikely ally.
Familiar faces return, Lilly among them, as the Devil’s wager unfolds on bloodied soil. Vampyre is a gothic, blood-soaked expansion of the Devil universe.
It is a story of vengeance, transformation, and what it means to rule when death is no longer the end.
Michael Harbron is an American fiction writer who brings a unique, yet traditional approach to the horror and supernatural genres. From a young age, Harbron was captivated by the eerie and unexplained, a fascination that has deeply influenced his writing. His works aim to unsettle readers through suspense and psychological depth, revisiting the shadowy corners of childhood fears. His debut novel, "Interview with the Devil," exemplifies the blurred lines between reality and the unimaginable. Harbron’s storytelling resurrects dormant fears, proving that true horror lies not in what is seen, but in what is felt.
Yet another great installment in the Interview With the Devil series! Although it's technically a side story, I still recommend reading it before reading Armageddon. The character development in Vampyre is essential to being able to fully appreciate the final chapter.
I have read all the books in the series but I love that if you haven't you can read this and just jump right into the story I love that he continued the story of lily frog she is my favorite character I cannot wait to see what happens with her And the vampire Also I know fright night is going to be freaking amazing
This book was excellent. It is filled with action. Great to see some of the characters from Michael Harbron’s other books link into the story. The Witch is my favorite and has steadily become my favorite character out of all his books, this one definitely in the top three for me. He steadily applies the gas as this story starts to take off and it’s like a brake pedal doesn’t even exist. Cannot wait for the next one. You do not have to read the other books to read this one, but they’re definitely worth it as well. Easily my favorite author today.
This is my first book by this author. I wanted to like this book because I love vampire reads but this book didn't keep my attention making this a difficult read to get through. I do have to say though, the cover is fire. 5/5 stars for the cover. Kudos to the illustrator.
2.5 stars .. It was a good attempt at a vampire genesis story. Not as well developed as his major novel. Prurient writing for heightened scene exposition harkened to bad 80s schlock vampire novels. Been there.
Very dark and absolutely gripping. Beautifully written too by an extremely talented author. Not only is it a page turner, but you cannot help but accept the existence of evil and chaos as a living reality behind the outward appearances of normality. Plenty of existential angst. IMHO it is not a superficial read. It is very satisfying to read quality writing of horror.
