French Kisses #3

Catching Trouble

Rate this book
Chloe Hargreaves is officially at a crossroads. After two years of travelling, she’s out of money, out of plans, and feeling the pressure to join the rat race. With dyslexia, though, office life feels impossible, and she’s not sure where she fits. So when a summer job as a nanny on the Mediterranean coast comes up, she grabs it. Sun, sea, sand… how hard can it be?

Maxime Moreau is a grumpy, gorgeous single dad with sea-salt hair, tattoos and an intensity to rival Poseidon. He also has a beach club to save and is desperate to reconnect with the daughter he barely knows. When his ex demands he hire an English-speaking nanny in return for summer custody, he reluctantly agrees.

What he doesn’t expect? To haul his new nanny out of the sea—in his fishing net.

Between clumsy boat trips, glittery face masks, a stray kitten, and knot-tying lessons that get far too personal, will Chloe and Maxime’s growing attraction crash on the rocks? Or will their summer lead to something that looks a lot like love?

Writing about love, passion and all things tingly has always been a dream for me.

Originally from rural England, I now live in Sydney’s glorious Northern Beaches, where I’m steadily gathering freckles and dipping my toes into the ocean for inspiration.

With a focus on smart, quirky heroines and sensitive, sexy heroes, I create steamy, slow burn, contemporary romance. Always on the funny side, with a nice touch of spice.

I’m a devoted wife, mother of one beautiful daughter, a wrangler of assorted animals, and a lover of Skittles.

It’s a mix made in heaven.

Catching Trouble by Vicki Hilton totally caught my heart! 💛
This was such a sweet and swoony read featuring all the tropes I love:
✨ Grumpy x Sunshine
✨ Annoyance to Lovers
✨ Nanny x Boss
✨ Single Dad
✨ Found Family

Chloe is a burst of sunshine and adventure, and watching her slowly melt the walls around grumpy single dad Maxime? Ugh, chef’s kiss 😍 Their dynamic had me giggling, swooning, and cheering for their happily ever after. If you love heartwarming romance with just the right sprinkle of sass and sweetness—this one’s a must-read! 📚💫

🏖️Nanny
🏖️Single dad
🏖️French beach town
🏖️Older FMC (32!!-love)

Thank you to @vicki_hilton_author for letting me read the ARC of Catching Trouble. I loved this romance and rated it a 4.5 stars. I was immediately excited when I learned that the FMC was 32 years old instead of the usual early twenties that we usually see- a nice change.

Chloe is in a French beach town to be a nanny for a month for a single dad who runs a beach club. Maxime, the MMC, only gets to see his daughter, 12 years old, infrequently, so their relationship also plays into the story.

I loved the relationship between the MMC and FMC- it wasn’t rushed and I genuinely really liked the characters. I got so into their story that I ended up reading this in one sitting!! I started and 5 hours later I was finished.

This is the third book in the French Kisses Series and I have to say that it is probably my favourite!

Catching Trouble is such a fun and flirty read and I enjoyed every minute of it.

The main character Chloe is such a loveable free spirit, who hasn’t lived up to her family’s conventional expectations of her and how her life should be, while Maxime is a single dad, who has learnt to cope with life by closing himself off emotionally.

When these two first meet, it is definitely not love at first sight and when they meet each other again only to find out that Chloe is Maxime’s new nanny whilst his twelve year old daughter stays with him… things get a little, let’s say… complicated.

If you love the following tropes:
- Single Dad
- Grumpy x Sunshine
- Enemies to Lovers
- Slow Burn Romance
- Found Family

…then this is definitely a read that you will want to pick up!

I read this book in less than four days as I was having such a great time reading this book.
I loved the character development within this book of all the characters and enjoyed the updates and continuation of friendships built in the first two books of this series.

Thank you so much to Vicki Hilton for sending me an ARC of this in exchange for an honest review.

What a fun Summer beach read!

The story follows Chloe, an experienced traveller who never wants to settle down, especially not back home with a finance guy, as her mother keeps pushing her to!

Maxime is our grumpy MMC who is a hot aquaman who owns the local restaurant. He is a single dad who has his daughter Sophie coming to visit for the Summer and needs a nanny, here enters Chloe.

I loved their slow burn romance, the relationship between Sophie with Maxime and also with Chloe. The descriptions of the French Riviera make me want to move there immediately! I also loved the fact that Chloe was in her 30s, yes there was an age gap but it wasn’t some early 20s girl. I also really resonated with Chloe as I was a solo traveller when I was younger and it took me back to those days!

All in all a great easy read that’s keeps you interested the whole way through! The chemistry and banter are great, nice amount of spice and it’s Summer in a book.

I didn’t realise this was the third book in a series and didn’t think I missed out not reading the first 2, so could be read as a standalone I think.

Thanks Vicki Hilton for trusting me with this ARC! Release day today, 7th July!

Swoony, summery, and cozy, I loved this beach read! What particularly caught my eye was that Ms. Hilton described it not as "enemies to lovers", but "annoyance to lovers". I think the enemies to lovers trope has gotten really watered down recently, with lots of instances of characters simply misjudging each other and not really being enemies. Rebranding the concept to annoyance rather than enemies is a simple and elegant way to address that situation, while telling readers exactly what they're getting into. There is also an adorable meet-cute involving a fishing net, and later a meet-awkward in an outdoor shower. Ooh la la!

Burgeoning beach club owner Maxime is prickly and a bit grumpy. He's got a lot of stress that he's carrying, and he doesn't have much of a support system. Between trying to be present in his daughter's life more (his ex his a nightmare in Louboutin's) and trying to make his beach club successful so as to not fail his investor, he's stuck in a catch-22. He needs the club to be successful so his ex will let him see his daughter and trust that he can provide for her, but to do that, he needs to spend all his time at the club and not actually with his daughter.

Enter sunshiney nomadic barista beach-loving Chloe, a friend of a friend who is tapped to be Maxime's daughter's nanny for the summer. British Chloe speaks no French but given that Maxime's daughter is supposed to be working on an essay in English over the summer, this is fine. Except Chloe is dyslexic. She can't spel her way owt ov a papr bag. Chloe is frightfully intelligent, but written words? Forget it. Voice notes, voice memos, text to speech apps, and other tools aid her in navigating the world around her, and I love how she adapts to live with her disability. Her friends know to not text her; they call or send voice messages. I honestly really loved this inclusion. I'm not dyslexic personally but I have a few friends who are, including one who has dysgraphia as well. I think Ms. Hilton represented this disability well, and respectfully, while also demonstrating that success can be had in ways that don't require an office job sending emails. There's no shame in working with your hands, and being unable to spell does not mean someone is not intelligent.

In true rom-com hijinks fashion, the summer spent in forced proximity has things heating up between Chloe and Maxime. Both characters grow up a little and learn some important lessons. They work through some things independently, as well as some things together, which is one of my favorite things to see in romances. It's important for the characters to overcome obstacles to be together, but it's also important for them to be their own people with their own challenges and opportunities for growth, too.

The chemistry between Chloe and Maxime was incredibly satisfying and the build-up of steam (with a few teases of non-intercourse intimacy) kept the stakes high for when they finally did succumb to their desires for each other. That scene in the cave during the squall? HOT. The scene where Maxime holds his breath in the pool? HOT. The scene where Chloe directs Maxime to put his hands on the headboard? Trope-bending, genre-defying HOT. Those scenes had me like:

A few things were mentioned over the course of the book that I wish had been explored a little more. Chloe's relationship with her mom is tense, and she regularly dodges phone calls from her.

I also wish we had a little more insight into Maxime's ex.

Sophie, Maxime's daughter, suffers from overly-wise-cute-kid syndrome a few times. The one time I can forgive this is when she rolls her eyes in true tween fashion and says "What? I have seen The Princess Diaries, you know." That made me laugh out loud. And honestly, what a great movie.

Catching Trouble is a fun beach read, and will make you fall in love with the grumpy sea god of Southern France and the bubbly British redheaded barista-nanny. Just watch out for the bees buzzing around the lavender bushes, and you'll be fine. While this is the third in a series, the books are interconnected standalones and can be read independently or in any order. Characters from previous books do make appearances, and Chloe is friends with the FMCs from the previous two books, and one of the MMCs is Maxime's investor.

Well it could’ve been worse, did have to fish her out of the sea in his big net. He thinks he’s going to regret it , I think he may just be right. She is a bit uptight and unrelenting . But hold on ,it gets better yet and she’s all wet again …he almost forgets but she’s turned up for the nanny position. She does fit the bill. Truth be told she gives him a thrill .Takes no nonsense and talks perfect sense even if it’s not in French . An English speaking nanny his ex insists. So he does just this . For the summer season she’s nanny to his twelve year old daughter . He doesn’t know how to be friends or ought to behave .Do they seal it with a kiss or does she resist his charms …can she keep out of his arms? A delightfully sweet and cute as! Sass, pizzazz and all that jazz and Chris ? He can’t resist , can’t get enough of her sweet ass. She’s older but boy is she bolder with it and she’s with it alright and really spritely,he can’t get enough of her at least twice nightly . Her treasure he buries himself in ,fills her silky cave of wonder for ultimate pleasure reaction through this chain reaction of heat and arcs that spark fire in her hole ,that he does a plunder heart and sole. His hearts beating like thunder a roiling roar and he’s succumbing in awe ,a hot summer sensational delight . It’s funny but she’s just what his daughter needs too and daddy dearest he’s more females to be beholden to. Brilliantly written and I was smitten with the pair of em too. Phew ! Sunshine aqua an who owns a restaurant so he can cook ,she’s a bit of a nomad , a roamer but can this dad and his almost teen daughter change her direction with a dreamy panorama of Fun and laughter and a happy ever after in the sun? Chloe is sunshine in bikini form: bright, chatty, and a little lost on life’s map. Maxime is a broody single dad with sea salt in his veins and a beach club in financial distress. When Chloe signs on as a last-minute nanny for his daughter (who gives peak preteen sass), it sets the stage for one of the dreamiest grumpy/sunshine setups. Add in a fishing net meet-cute, chaotic coffee art, and one very opinionated kitten named Bean, and voilà you’ve got Riviera rom-com magic.

The French Kisses series delivers on vacation vibes, and this installment made me want to run away to a lavender scented seaside town and help save a struggling beach bar with nothing but charm, iced lattes, and questionable French.

But here’s the bittersweet twist: just when Maxime and Chloe finally really get together-it ends. I’m talking finally-we’re-on-the-same-page and then… fin. I needed more! More romance, more “The Club” success glow-up, more grumpy fisherman being utterly undone by his sparkly nanny. It’s a charming read that almost gave me everything. I was left floating in the surf, wine glass empty, waiting for the second wave of their love story that never came.

This one’s for the readers who crave their romance with a salty breeze, a strong espresso, and a longing glance across the espresso bar. Bring sunscreen… and maybe a bonus epilogue, s’il vous plaît. 🌊💕

Vicki has such cute stories. So I will never turn down an ARC she sends my way. Its always a fun adventure when I read her stories and this one was no exception. The main FMC is the spunkiest free spirit of them all! This is an interconnected series. It doesn't have to be read in order but you meet the characters for future stories in each one so it adds to the excitement. Plus her books are absolutely amazing and deserve to be read.

Chloe
We have seen her in the previous stories. She is the spunky free spirited friend who always has their backs but can't stay in one place for a long time. She picks up random jobs as she backpacks the world and just enjoys each place for what it is. She has dyslexia and a random goofball. She brings sunshine everywhere she goes but deep down she needs someone to be their for her. She was hired to be a nanny but had no idea what she was walking into.

Maxime
The stern looking grump who is too afraid to rely on others and everyone tries to warn her not to take his personality to serious because he comes off as a jerk. However once you break past his walls he is the most loving and caring man. My favorite thing about him (besides looking like a seagod 🥵) was that no matter what her fear was he never mocked her or made her feel silly. He treated everything with respect and support. He loves his daughter and wishes so badly to be closer to her.

I LOVED this book. Chloe is an absolute goofball and I adored her. Maxime was absolutely perfect and made my heart explode from how considerate he was. This story was so cute and had a theme of finding where you belong and not being anchored but instead supported to be able to handle the tide. Don't be fooled though. This may be an extremely cute wholesome story but the spice was absolutely amazing. The bubbles had me VERY curious 😏 They don't seem like they would match but they balance eachother out so perfectly. She helps him enjoy life and let people in while he shows her she doesn't have to hide and that she belongs there with him.

This was such a fantastic read and I'm so grateful there wasn't any miscommunication issues really. It was all resolved like adults and with love. I'm so grateful I got to read this story. It truly helped me when I was feeling mentally torn.

In this the third book of Vicki Hilton’s French Kisses series, traveling adventurous Chloe lands at the beach club of Maxime, the man known for his permanent scowl and her new boss as she is to be his twelve year old daughter’s nanny for a month. Chloe and Maxime share acquaintances with Iris from book one, Chloe’s best friend, and Luc, Iris’ billionaire husband and Maxime’s lien-holder for his beach restaurant/club, The Méduse. It was Luc who suggested Maxime hire Chloe as a nanny for his daughter Sophie but Chloe went into the job not realizing one of the big requirements of the job would be something she struggled with. Sophie’s mother, Valerie, has been very controlling of her life and how Maxime spent time with his daughter so this was an important time for him but he had other pressures laying heavy on him too making him even grumpier than normal. Then on this fateful day, he casts out his fishing net and brings in a mermaid…but not an especially happy or grateful one. Could things get even more strange? Yes, they can in this delightful grump catches his very own sunshine, better known as the “sea god” catches his “mermaid”, where opposite personalities fit perfectly together. With its wonderful assortment of characters, I found myself laughing, swooning and cheering on several occasions and falling in love with the witty, playful Chloe, the grumpy, caring Maxime, the preteen, intuitive Sophie, and the squeaky, sleepy kitty Bean. This author is fabulous at setting the scene with her descriptions of the locale and the situation. The reader can visualize the smells, the sounds, the feel of it all and here we have a peaceful beach, a lapping pool, an aromatic coffee, fragrant, flowers and a lover, all within a book. Get this book for a dose of these with a bit of humor, angst, family bonding and a romance where the younger sunshine lands in the net of the older grump but uses the cords of the netting and her latte drawing talents to draw a perfect picture of their HEA.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 𝘊𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘛𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘦 by Vicki Hilton

Catching Trouble is the third book in Vicki Hilton’s French Kisses series—but don’t worry if you haven’t read the others; this one stands perfectly on its own. And wow, did I love every minute of it!

I’m usually not a huge fan of slow burns, but for Vicki? Always worth it—and never a regret. This book is packed with fun, flirty moments, emotional depth, and laugh-out-loud scenes that had me completely hooked. It’s grumpy-sunshine romance at its best, with spice that’s both swoon-worthy and seriously steamy.

Chloe is one of my favorite FMCs ever (plus we share the same name 😂) She’s bubbly, full of life, and incredibly relatable—I honestly felt like I could be best friends with her. When she lands a one-month nanny job at a gorgeous seaside villa in France, she expects sunshine and serenity—not a moody, emotionally closed-off boss. But Maxime? He’s irresistible. Grumpy, yes. But also protective, passionate, and totally magnetic. Their chemistry leaps off the page.

The setting is so vivid I could see the ocean, feel the breeze, and picture myself right in the heart of that quirky beachside club. I adored Sophie, Max’s daughter, and Bean the kitten completely stole my heart. The supporting cast brings so much warmth and humor, it truly felt like being part of a little French family.

From the giggles to the longing glances and late-night confessions, Chloe and Maxime’s journey is full of heart, heat, and healing. It’s about more than just falling in love—it’s about showing up for each other, flaws and all.

I devoured this book and I’m already tempted to reread it. Highly recommend for fans of:
✔️ Grumpy x Sunshine
✔️ Nanny/Boss trope
✔️ Gorgeous French coastal vibes
✔️ Laughs, love, and the perfect amount of spice

Vicki Hilton, you’ve done it again—utterly charming and completely unputdownable!

Catching Trouble by Vicki Hilton is the third book in the French Kisses Series and I have to say that it is my favorite!

This book feels like summer in a book with the beachy town vibes.

Catching Trouble is such a fun and flirty summer beach read. I truly enjoyed every minute of it.

The story follows Chloe, an experienced traveler who never wants to settle down, especially not back home with a finance her mother wants keeps pushing her towards. She is such a loveable free spirit, who hasn’t lived up to her family’s "expectations" of who and how her life should be.

Maxime is a GRUMPY single dad, who "copes" with life's curveballs by closing himself off emotionally. He owns a local restaurant and has his daughter Sophie coming to visit for the summer. And you guessed it, he needs a nanny for Sophie.

When these two first meet, it is definitely not love at first sight so when they discover that Chloe is Maxime’s new nanny whilst his twelve year old daughter stays with him .... That's when things begin to get "complicated" in this delicious slow-burn romance.

There is lots of banter and chemistry between Chloe and Maxime with some spice.

If you love the following tropes:
- Single Dad
- Grumpy x Sunshine
- Enemies to Lovers
- Slow Burn Romance
- Found Family

…then this is definitely worth the read!

I had such a great time reading this book. I loved the character development and enjoyed the updates and continuation of friendships built in the first two books of this series. Even though this is part of a series, you don't have to read the entire series to enjoy this book, it's just a bonus. (You should still read the series though because all the books are good.)

Thank you so much to BookSirens and Vicki Hilton for sending me an ARC of this in exchange for an honest review.

Catching Trouble is the third installment in Vicki Hilton’s utterly charming French Kisses series—and I adored every single page!

When Chloe agrees to a one-month nannying job at a beachside villa in coastal France, she expects a laid-back escape full of sun, sea, and maybe a bit of mischief. What she doesn’t expect? Maxime: a broody, emotionally buttoned-up single dad running a struggling beachfront restaurant… or his sharp-witted 12-year-old daughter Sofie, who’s not exactly thrilled about the new nanny situation.

Cue the fishing net meet-cute (yes, really), a delicious slow-burn romance, and all the grumpy/sunshine goodness your heart could want. Chloe’s vibrant warmth gradually melts Maxime’s icy reserve, while Sofie brings humour, vulnerability, and heart to every scene. Their trio dynamic is pure magic—equal parts funny, sweet, and emotionally resonant.

The setting? Chef’s kiss. The lush French coast comes alive on the page—so vivid and transportive, I was ready to book a trip just to visit “The Club.” And catching up with characters from previous books was such a treat. The whole series radiates cozy, chaotic, found-family vibes, and Maxime and Chloe slot right into the fold like they were always meant to be there.

✨ Tropes I loved:
• Grumpy/Sunshine
• Single Dad
• Age Gap
• Beachside Romance
• Slow Burn
• Found Family
• Fishing Net Meet-Cute (!!)

I devoured this in one sitting—funny, romantic, full of heart, and just the right amount of escapist. Perfect for a hot summer day or when you need a warm, witty story to lift your spirits. Vicki Hilton’s writing is effortless and full of charm, and I’m already counting down the days until the next book!

If you love beach reads with depth, banter, and beautiful characters—this series is an absolute must.

Ohh, such a beachy read, that takes you to a summer beach town for a couple of hours. I really enjoyed this story and the vibe it sended. And since it's summer, time it came out in the best of times.

Here we have Chloe, who is a free spirited woman, and kind of a nomad, who ends up in a little beach town to work as a nanny for one month. And could it be any better? Summer, beach, and sunny days in a perfect little town? Well .. it would be if her new boss woulnd't be so grumpy and gave her a chance.
Maxime is a fisherman, and a local coffe /bar owner, who is trying to succed in his business. He has is dauther home for the summer, and wants to connect to her but just doesn’t know how. He hires a nanny to help, but she is just not what he expected.
They don’t click right away, having to mold themselfs into each others styles, but they soon not only addapt but thrive around each other. Can a free spirit be tamed? And grump learn to live and be free?

I have to be honest. I had a little trouble connecting with chloe at first. Maybe because we are polar opposites. Or maybe because I deep down envied her carefree attitude. But as the story developed I grew very fond of her and realised she had to be written this way for the character development and for the story to work as it did.
On the other hand, Maxime I liked from the start. I do love a grumpy man, with the softest heart inside. He had walls erected atound him to protect himself. And he had more than reasons to. But seeing them crumble with Chloe and Sophie, was priceless.
An then, as a cat person, I loved how the author included Bean in the story.

The French Kisses series continues on with book 3! Chloe, who we met in the first book is now arriving at her new gig, being a summer nanny for a single dad who also just happens to be the handsome man that catches her in his net on her first day. Not the greatest first impression!

But Vicki excels in her books by using the utmost humor and awkwardness to bring people out of their shells and develop into the diamonds they're meant to be. Chloe is a free-spirited personality who kind of flits between jobs and travels the world. Maxime, her new boss, comes from a difficult childhood where he lifted himself up and is trying to run a business, but his twelve-year-old daughter is also staying with him for the summer.

This is where Chloe's job comes in. Maxime's daughter is only allowed to stay with him for so long because the ex wants her to continue her school work and Chloe is hired to help her. But Chloe didn't realize she was going to have to help her write a paper, and Chloe is desperately hiding a very big secret.

Maxime and Chloe have a very slow burn in the first half of this book where they keep finding themselves in increasing tensions until finally the walls break down. Both of them are hesitant to let the other fully into their life because neither of them feel quite ready for any serious commitment, but they also can't ignore the attraction.

A full blown beach adventure filled with the love of family, found and otherwise, with two very tender hearted individuals who fear rejection more than anything. But love always wins and I enjoyed this one immensely!

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Tropes:

* Boss x nanny

* Grumpy x sunshine

* Single dad

* He’s French!

* Slow burn but so worth it!

Thank you to Sirens and Vicki Hilton for this eARC! I enjoyed it so much and such a great summer romance read!

I really liked the dual POV that gives both of their perspectives, especially in the beginning when they didn’t know who they both were yet. It made it fun and the tension quickly built up for a burning romance in such a romantic setting in France! In addition, the cover of this book is so perfect! It fits so well with the story, and really captured him so well especially! 🫠

Chloe is so likable, and while Maxime is at first standoffish and closed off, he can’t help but fall for her. I liked how she not only helped nanny, but helped him and everyone else at the club he owns too. The forced proximity added to the slow burn, which made their first two times together extra hot and spicy!

In addition, I enjoyed how she got closer to Sophie, and I could tell she would be a wonderful addition to her life, too.

I am glad there wasn’t really a third act breakup, and how they were able to admit their love for each other (and act on it 🤭). It was such a good HEA and I really felt their connection was so strong and lovely!!

Vicki has done it again with the third book in this series it's an absolutely brilliant story. Chloe is the sort of person everybody falls in love with straightaway, she's funny, caring and gorgeous oh and let's not forget totally accident prone. Becoming a nanny just temporarily is yet another thing she's doing whilst travelling different countries. When her friend asks her to do this she jumps at the chance free room and another gorgeous place to visit. Maxime enjoys the quiet life of hes a bit broody, but he's a lot on his shoulders. Starting up the beachside club has been hard, getting locals and tourists to visit is even harder. Having the chance to have his teen daughter for a month he jumps at the chance. Now he has a strange woman staying in the annexe as his daughters nanny. This is a funny and just a little steamy story you won't want to put down with the added bonus an adorable kitten named bean and quite a few bees. Sit back and enjoy this laugh a minute story where nothing goes to plan and an annoying ex puts a spoke in the wheel of any chance of romance. Make sure you add this to your tbr list you won't be sorry you did

♡“Taches de rousseur.” 💋

Chloe and Maxime had two meet cutes at the beach and his garden. They had an interesting introduction to two times they met each other.🧡

Chloe is the new nanny for Maxime's daughter, and they were definitely surprised to run into each other again. Chloe helped Maxime's business with her experience with coffee. Chloe was this ray of light for Maxime and his daughter. Somehow, Chloe brought Sophie out of her shell when she needed it. ☀️

The author did an amazing job of representing Chloe's dyslexia without making it the main focus. Chloe managed to deal with new challenges because of her Dyslexia, but she's not embarrassed by it.🩵

When Maxime creates a unique penchant for Chloe. Maxime and Chloe are perfect for each other! Maxime's daughter was very accepting of Chloe and loved that for them! Chloe, was that missing piece for Maxime and Sophie's lives.🩷

Catching Trouble is book 3 in the French Kisses series, this is my favourite of them, I’m a sucker for a Single Dad/Nanny trope 😊 and dual POV makes for such a fun read.
Chloe, the FMC is such a lovable character, she has the ability to bring joy to everyone around her. A simple swim in the sea on her first morning in Furze, leads to her getting caught in a fishing net, almost drowning, her rescuer is none other than Maxime, her new boss! It’s fair to say there is an instant attraction which then unfortunately leads to an awkward first meeting his daughter, Sophie.
Chloe can see that Maxime is carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders and she’s determined to help him build a better relationship with Sophie and make a success of his beach club.
I love the way she sees the best in those around her, her carefree attitude is like a breath of fresh air to Maxime, the pacing of their slow-burn was perfect, as for spice 🌶️🌶️ it was delicious. He’s described as rivalling Poseidon, this man can stay underwater for a long time…….Chloe gets to enjoy bubbles in a way I’ve never heard or imagined before 🫧
This story has good depth, a fun storyline and makes for a perfect sexy HEA beach read.
Thank you BookSirens and VickiHilton for the ARC, all opinions expressed are my own.

Catching Trouble, the third installment in the French Kisses Series, delivers a heartfelt, swoon-worthy romance that had me hooked from the very first page. Chloe and Maxime's story did not disappoint! These two had me rooting for them through every high, low, and steamy moment in between.

Vicki Hilton masterfully weaves together humor, sass, and vulnerability to create a love story that feels both layered and real. Chloe's fiery personality and sharp wit brought such a fun dynamic, especially in her playful banter with Maxime. Their chemistry leaps off the page with every glance, every tease, and every emotionally charged moment.

This book is full of charm, heart, and just the right amount of tension. I absolutely loved this story and can’t wait to see what’s next from Vicki!

What To Expect:
🌶 Slow Burn
🥰 Found Family
👩‍🍳 Nanny/Boss
😠 Grumpy/Sunshine 🌞

Very well written, keeps you wanting more of and from these characters. Chloe is a free spirited woman who loves adventures so she travels and does her thing. Maxime is a sour faced grumpy gorgeous man. But he is having trouble with his club and getting customers there. Plus trouble with his ex when his daughter is finally allowed to visit but he must hire a nanny to help her with her school projects. Chloe shows up at the club and after speaking with Fifi , she decides to go swimming while waiting for Maxime to show back up. While swimming she tries to deep dive and find a piece of sand glass and ends up caught in a fishing net. Chloe is pulled up by some sea God whose good looking and tattooed, what a chest. Maxime is also shocked to have caught a pink clad mermaid. From this point on there is lots of heat, steam and emotions. Each has their own secrets that will need to be told to the other. Lots of reactions to every interactions. Curl up and enjoy this story. Would strongly recommend to everyone.
I received this story and leave this unbiased, honest review.

- Single father
- Grumpy/sunshine
- Fishing net meet cute
- Age gap
- Beach read
- Slow burn

I have loved the French Kisses series. It was so nice having a book be set in a tropical location - beach side in France. The descriptions of the the Club was so lovely that I wished it was a real location!

When fun-loving, drifter Chloe agrees to take on a nanny position for the summer - at the beach! - she has no idea how that decision will effect her life. She has picked up a few skills in her travels and is excited to play all summer. She doesn't realize her new charge is the semi-sullen pre-teen Sophie...

Maxime is the grumpy owner of the Club, a beautiful, but struggling, beach side restaurant. Some of his employees think the restaurant is empty because he has resting brood face. Imagine that!

Chloe and Maxime have the most unique meet cute I've ever read! And watching this couple that are attracted to one another, but try not to be, fall in love was so magical!

Catching Trouble is the third book in the French Kisses series by Vicki Hilton. This was the first book that I have read by this author. And let me just say that I loved this book. It made want to dust off my passport, so I can drink lattes at a French beach club. This book has everything that Im looking for in a romance book: grumpy X sunshine, single father X nanny, a unique meet cute, and a slow burn romance. I think Maxime is now added to the list of my favorite book boyfriends. A grumpy French aqua man look a like. Yes please! Chloe is also one of my favorite female main characters. I loved the relationship between Chloe and Maxime. Their banter had me laughing out loud and swooning. I liked how there was also a focus on Maxime developing a father-daughter relationship with Sophie. This is the perfect summer read to read next to the pool or if you are lucky enough the beach. Thanks Vicki Hilton for giving me an opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Ahhhh I was so happy I got this as an Arc!!! Thank you so much Vicki for this opportunity ❤️ (I unfortunately crashed after work and forgot to write my review last night but here we gooooo)

I absolutely love this series it's soooo good I always love sweet slow burn love stories its a nice break from the other kinds of books I read. Anyhoo this is a grumpy meets sunshine slow burn romance with the single dad falling in love with the nanny whom is literally caught in the net 😂. The stories description of the beach side restaurant named The Club is so detailed if it was a real location I'd definitely hit it up it sounds so good plus beach 🤩🤩. This was an adorable and funny slow burn romance that was absolutely perfect for a summer read 📚 I'll definitely even give it a reread when the weather let's up so I can read at the beach for that perfect summer vibe to go with the story 🥰.

If you love slow burn romance, sexy single dads and beach vibes this one is definitely for you!!!

Perfect Summer Beach Read With Laughs, Heart, Steam and Wonderful Characters

This book had a little bit of everything that makes a perfect beach read and was hard to put down. Chloe and Maxime were opposites in that she embodied sunshine and a nomadic lifestyle while trying to "find herself and her passion", while he was a very serious (and sometimes grumpy!) cafe owner trying to be successful and show responsibility to maintain visits with his pre-teen daughter. Their "meet cute" was hysterical as were many of their initial interactions and banter, but eventually Chloe and her heart of gold won the entire town over and even found ways to help his business. There were laughs, tears, sparks, heat, an adorable kitten and the pages just turned themselves because I couldn't wait to see what happened next. The book is part of a series but is easily read as a standalone novel - Enjoy!

I was sent an ARC by the author and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

-Fun beachy read
-French
-Tiny cat companion named Bean
-Dyslexic FMC
-MMC looking like a tattooed Poseidon God
-Age gap
-She's the nanny
-Makes coffee in a bikini, apron and chef hat

Thoughts
This would be the perfect book to read on holiday at the beach. Both Chloe and Maxime are both such strong-headed likable characters that you just wait for them to click in their heads that they need to get together now! Chloe is the nanny but she might not have all the skills to help Maxim's daughter but she does have the skills to help him in his club. She comes in like a whirlwind with how much of a free spirit she is that Maxime doesn't know what to do. Throw in a tiny cat named Bean and this book was chef's kiss!
The thing I both hated and loved about this book for the French phrases throughout the book but I wish that the author included the translations for a few of the more common phrases to reference back and forth.

Chloe seems to always find herself surrounded by interesting people and places, and a month long job as a nanny to her best friends husbands work friend is no exception.
One month as a nanny in a beachside villa surrounded by the beach, who wouldn't love the chance.
Maxime finds himself totally out of his depth, he had to supply a English speaking nanny as stipulated by the mother of his 12 year old daughter Sofie, before she was allowed to come for a visit.

What he wasn't expecting was that his quiet life was about to turn onto a frenzy out of control adventures.

Chloe brings her slightly quirky personality to a very emotionally controlled Maxime.
Sofie brings a fresh young perspective to a slow burn romance with plenty of humour and chemistry between them all.
I enjoyed reading this storyline.

This was a fun read with lots of slow burn tension. Chloe is wild and carefree while Maxime is a rule follower who doesn’t make time for fun or spontaneity. Their chaotic adventures are very Chloe, and Maxime cannot be help but be drawn to her. I enjoyed Maxime’s daughter and the challenges she brought to the table. Also, a plus, the little black kitten, Bean. While Maxime is all business, Chloe is exactly what he’s missing, and Maxime is the reliable strength that Chloe could use in her life. Sounds like a match made in heaven.
My favorite parts are when Chloe is working at the coffee bar, and all the attention and customers love her and when Chloe and Sophie begin to soften up towards each other.
If you are in the mood for a slow burn set in the south of France with lots of fun chaotic times, this is the perfect choice.

Chloe has moved to Furze in France, and taking a job as a nanny, leaving her matchmaking mother in London. She has an unfortunate introduction to Maxime, neither realising that he is her new boss at the time. Once she settles in Chloe sees her role as more of a companion to Maxime's 12 year old daughter, Sophie. However, Chloe's dyslexia means struggles to help Sophie with her schoolwork which was a request by Sophie's mother while she was staying with Maxime. Chloe's sunny disposition and help at Maxime's restaurant make it more successful. And the chemistry between Chloe and Maxime becomes more intense and eventually they can't resist each other. An unexpected visit from Sophie's mother threatens to ruin everything but Maxime stand his ground and convinces Chloe that she is his future. A fun, emotional read.

Great grumpy/sunshine romance. I loved this story of free spirit, Chloe and her grumpy French boss, Maxime. Chloe has been employed by Maxime to look after his daughter for a month whilst he runs and tries to make a success of his beach front bar. This is a seriously feel-good story and both the main characters are truly likeable. I especially enjoyed their ‘meet-cute’ when Chloe goes for a swim on arrival and ends up being caught in Maxime's fishing net! I really liked that Chloe tries to remain professional despite her growing crush on her taciturn boss; whilst Maxime fights his undeniable attraction to his young employee. In addition, Chloe is hiding her learning difficulty whilst attempting to help Maxime’s daughter with her vacation homework. Throw in Maxime’s cold, snobby ex and his likeable bar manager and you have a delightfully readable rom-com.
