Avery was supposed to be married by now—not stuck working alongside her ex-fiancé, pretending their failed relationship never happened. So when a solo trip to Italy introduces her to a charming stranger with a devastating smile, a no-strings-attached fling feels like the perfect way to remember there’s more to life than work and heartbreak.
But when Avery gets back home, ready to focus on her publishing company, she walks into the last complication she ever expected—her Italian fling is their new marketing consultant. And worse? He’s her ex’s longtime friend.
Benson doesn’t do commitment—not to places, not to jobs, and definitely not to relationships. His life as a consultant has been carefully crafted to keep things temporary, always moving on before anything gets too real. But Avery isn’t just another momentary connection. The more time he spends with her, the more he starts to wonder if he’s been running from the wrong things all along.
She’s determined to prove he wants more in life. He’s convinced she’s dreaming. But when falling becomes inevitable, Avery and Benson must decide—will they take the leap together or let fear keep them from something meant to be?
The Fear of Falling is a closed-door workplace romance that blends witty banter, undeniable chemistry, and heartfelt moments. With nods to other characters in the series in this standalone story, you won’t be able to resist falling for Avery and Benson as they navigate love and ambition on their own terms.
When a dream honeymoon turns into a solo adventure Avery cries her eyes out on the plane. Fortunately there was a handsome man on the same flight who was intrigued by her story. He sweeps her off her feet, but there is one condition. No last names, no personal details, just a no strings fling.
Benson was the perfect match for Avery. He complemented her in every way. She realizes her feelings for her ex fiancé were nothing compared to what she feels for Benson. How can it end after one week? How can she bear it to say goodbye and never see him again?
I really enjoyed this story. There were swoony moments aplenty. The snark and witty banter were entertaining. Both Avery and Benson had things to learn about themselves and their relationships with others. This was a fun and clean romance with lots of heart.
Sweet, swoony, and surprising! Avery has parted ways with her fiance except they have a business together so they still have to work together. How awkward! But wait. It gets worse. She goes single on their honeymoon to Italy, has a vacation fling, and returns to find that her fling is now consulting with her business. The whole situation made for some great tension, great banter, and cute moments as everyone navigates their feelings. Part of a multi author series but can be read as a standalone. I read it right after The Ruse of Romancing and I believe they paired really well (the FMCs are sisters). Check out The Fear of Falling by Dana along with the rest of the Love Connections series which will be complete after one more book.
I was all smiles and giggles and grins while reading this one!!! My heart was seriously soaring! This is one of those books that just captivated me. The setting, the storyline, the characters, the swoon-factor, the adventure, the emotions, the beauty of it, the banter...ALL OF IT!!!!
Do yourself a favor and make sure you read this before the summer is over! I hope if you do that you're just as captivated by it as I was! I was messaging my book besties the whole time I was reading it telling them they had to drop everything and read it! I even had a bit of a book hangover when I was finished with it!
Avery and Benson are just adorable and funny! But what I loved most about them was how they helped each other in being true to themselves. No judgement, just friendship and encouragement! I love seeing that with characters and how they are able to just be their best, or worse, selves and truly be seen and cared for. There are sooo many scenes that you're going to swoon and sigh over. Benson isn't messing around here people!
The secondary characters are great as well! Especially the secretary at Avery's work, hee hee! I love her! She's the best!!! Ohhhh, I think I need to go back and read this again really soon! Just typing this review and thinking back on all of the scenes has me grinning from ear to ear again! Just go read it!
Content: Clean. Some kisses but nothing further.
I received a copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
I absolutely adore Avery and Benson’s whirlwind, vacation romance gone wrong! Epic flirting, amazing descriptions in Italy, the reluctance to fall, the growth, and her pursuing him (in the second half) was a sweet shift from the norm. This story had so many unique little twists, all the feels, all the laughs, & just made me so happy!
After reading a few books where the tone towards intimacy was a bit on the blurred-line side, I was absolutely delighted that while this may have been a “vacation fling” premise, there were no questions where the lines were. I felt like I could fully relax into and enjoy the delicious tension and beautiful growth in this story. I laughed, I cried, and I loved every minute.
CW: 2 uses of H***, Side character into New Age stuff
Avery’s life is not exactly where she thought it would be—she’s still working with her ex-fiancé (yikes) and trying to pretend their breakup isn’t awkward. Because the flight is non-refundable, Avery decides going on a honeymoon for one to Italy is better than the awkward situation at work. Enter Benson, the swoon-worthy stranger she meets on her trip. A little no-strings fling is exactly what she needs. But then Avery comes home… and finds him sitting in her office as the new marketing consultant. Oh, and he happens to be her ex’s friend...cue the chaos.
Avery and Benson have such great chemistry—there's banter, sparks, and those little moments that sneak up on you and make you swoon. Benson’s whole “I don’t do commitment” thing gives their relationship some real tension, but I loved watching Avery challenge him.
I loved all the descriptions of the sights in Italy and the secondary characters added to the fun. The texting chats are the best!! Oh, and let's not forget about Benson's flirting and those kisses!! There were a few times I found myself upset with a few characters but most of the time I was smiling and sighing while reading this one. Do yourself a favor and add this one to your TBR!
I received a copy from the author. All opinions in this review are my own.
More 4 1/2 🌟 The Fear Of Falling is book five in The Love Connections multi author series and features Avery and Benson. This one takes you on a dreamy adventure to Italy where Avery and Benson first meet, their chemistry is instant. This story is all amount coincidences and taking chances. This wholesome story is one of my favourites in this series so far and was such an easy enjoyable read. I received a complementary copy from the author.
The Brief: Avery takes herself to Florence, Italy on the honeymoon she planned by herself. When fate introduces her to Benson, they enjoy Italy without sharing too many details. After returning home the details show up at her office.
The Debrief: Utterly charming, as any story that starts in Italy should be, especially by this fav author. Smitten. Delicious. Romantic. Banter. Movie like. All the things. But I especially loved the story when hard things and feelings had to be worked through and growth happened. The ex, the ex mama, Bens, and Avery all came together and I was there for all the unfolding drama….with popcorn. Such the perfect addition to this series and another nail in my @ bandwagon.
workplace forbiddenish romance such a sweet meet Italy. Italy. Italy. facing hard things the cousin texts kissing in the closet sunshiny characters showing up for each other
The Rhyme: Avery is determined to enjoy Italy and unleash some of her inner joy. Benson brought life into the trip, but when she returns to the mundane can she keep the boy?
Can totally be read alone, but it’s fun to get all the cousins stories! Complimentary copy. Kissing only. My thoughts.
"Wherever you are, that’s where I want to be.” Because she is home.
The Fear of Falling by Dana LeCheminant
4.5 stars rounded up.
Another swoony book from Dana! I loved watching Avery's personal journey and Benson's struggle with family issues. And I really enjoyed seeing them together, helping each other, and progressing together throughout the story.
Wowza, Benson is the biggest flirt, and I was so here for it! Some of his comments made me fan my face because I was blushing right alongside Avery. And later in the book, I loved that Avery dished back those flirty comments.
My favorite two scenes were definitely the chocolate tiramisu scene and the bookshelves scene! This was the first book I have read with an Italian setting, I think. And I loved it. I nearly booked a flight after finishing this book to Florence, Italy. Someday I will go! I mean, gelato is one of my favorite desserts! And I do love Italian food, though I can't eat it often because of the dairy.
One of my other favorite aspects was that Avery is bookish and she co-owns a publishing company. It was so fun to see that in this story.
The texts between her and her cousins and also from her sister made me laugh and smile so much. Seriously the best! I loved getting glimpses of the cousins and her sister from the other books as well.
I definitely recommend this swoony and cute romcom! Available now on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited!

Thank you to the author for the review copy. All thoughts are my own.
There’s something about a multi author series that just makes me happy. You get all the books in a row. You don’t have to wait a year or longer for the next story. It really ingenious!
I loved Avery. I loved how she found herself and her confidence was wildly attractive to Benson. She became the strong confident woman that didn’t shrink from her own attraction to him.
Benson, oh Benson. He was so lost. As a mom with young kids I couldn’t help but think “I hope my children never feel like they can’t come home.”
I loved the whole story. I loved that the third act breakup didn’t last longer than one sleepless night, because really these two were made for each other.
There was something about this one that drew me in. Avery and Benson are a new favorite story from Dana.
This book is one in the multi author series, Love Connections. Each is a standalone, kisses only romcom. Each book contains a travel destination and features one of the set of cousins that connects the stories. They can be read in any order.
Like I mentioned, there was something that I can't quite explain that really appealed to me in this story. It must be how the relationship progressed. I loved the time the characters spent together in Italy before really knowing who they were. That freedom added an extra layer to the story for me. Then once they were reunited, that original connection kept peeking through. I just really enjoyed this whole book!
I was given the opportunity to read an advanced copy of the book by the author. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
After reading Dani’s story, I was so excited for Avery and was not disappointed!
Avery and Benson were so different personality wise but so good for each other. I loved how they brought out the good in each other.
Favorite parts -the first taxi trip -all their Italy adventures -their first dinner back in Utah -Avery deciding to be brave and hold back from how she felt about Benson. -Benson’s family and how he saw himself afterwards
Favorite Quotes: I read people for a living, and there’s someone lurking beneath the surface of Avery… whatever her last name is. The woman who used to travel and be brave? I’m willing to bet she’s still in there, and something tells me she’s more beautiful than the woman I met on the plane.
“Whatever turned you scared,” Benson says, his voice low, “it didn’t follow you here to Italy. You have a week to be free and let the real Avery have her time in the sun.” He quirks his lips up in that irresistible smile of his. “Don’t waste it.” How is a girl supposed to argue against that?
“When did you get so bold?” “When I met a guy in Italy who refused to let me hold myself back.” Something lights up in his countenance, his frustration dissipating as he looks at me with a hint of a smile. “Sounds like a nightmare.” “He was kind of the best thing to happen to me.”
All the stars!! 𝑨 𝒇𝒊𝒗𝒆 🌟𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒅 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒎𝒆! 💝 This book truly deserves all the praise! It's that exceptional! The joy this story brought me is indescribable. I absolutely adore this couple! The Italian backdrop is simply flawless! Their meet-cute was charming, and it felt like fate brought them together repeatedly. This rom-com is witty, heartwarming, clean, and utterly delightful.
Two of my absolute favorite moments? When he reads her text messages and those closet encounters. 💞
I received a complimentary e-copy of this book and read it with pleasure. I was under no obligation to leave a positive review.
Book Quotes-
“Benson glances at his watch. “How do you feel about running?” “Hate it.” “Too bad.” He breaks into a jog, pulling me with him”
“Avery, if you’re in trouble, text our safe word.” “Do we have a safe word?” I ask with a laugh. “If we do, I don’t know what it is.”
“I nearly lost a finger to your chocolate addiction just now.” “Don’t be such a chocolate-hating baby,” I say through a mouthful of chocolate mascarpone.’
Caution this sweet romcom will make you want to pack your bags and make a trip to Italy! I love how the characters are challenging each other and their growth throughout this sweet romcom! A fun Summer read!
I received an ARC from the author and all opinions are my own.
ARC Book Review The Fear of Falling A Novel Written By Dana LeCheminant Fiction - Romance Published August 2025 308 Pages ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is the fifth book in A Love Connections Sweet Romcom Series. This is an interconnected series of romance books. Each book has readers traveling to a different place.
In this book readers travel to Florence, Italy with Avery Baldwin. Avery is a partner in a publishing company. Her partner is her ex-fiancé, Eric. This trip to Florence should have been her honeymoon. What begins as a sad trip gets better on the plane when Avery meets Benson West who is also headed to Florence. Benson and Avery spend a magical week in Florence. As their week comes to an end, they both realize their time together must also come to an end.
Once back home in Utah Avery is shocked to discover that Benson is the marketing consultant Eric has hired to help their publishing company. What happens in Italy does not always stay there.
The author’s writing will make readers laugh but will also bring sadness. There are obstacles standing in the way of any potential relationship between Avery and Benson.
I am looking forward to reading the sixth and final book in the series to see where we are headed next.
“‘Wherever you are, that’s where I want to be!’ Because she is home.”
I’ll start by saying thanks, Dana, for letting me be a part of this journey. It was my first book by Dana, but certainly not the last. I had so much fun reading this story. I loved the chemistry between Avery and Benson from the very beginning. It was amazing to see how much they positively influenced each other’s lives. Another advantage, especially for younger readers or those who don’t like sexual content, is that this book is completely clean, and the only intimacy mentioned was kissing. I personally don’t mind sexual content in romance books; however, in this one, it wasn’t needed. It’s a great story to read in the summer, as some parts are set in Italy, and you can feel the warmth and atmosphere of the country. If you’re looking for your next read, I can most definitely recommend this one! Have fun! 😊
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
When Avery goes on what should have been her honeymoon alone to Florence, Italy, she doesn’t expect to meet anyone. When the same charming man reenters her life after their “fling,” she can’t believe it. But will he give a real relationship a chance?
I have a few favorite things about this book: 1. The cousins and their loyalty and hilarious text messages. 2. The way Benson started as the flirty one, then how Avery took over that role. 3. How Avery and Benson both helped each other see themselves more clearly.
This book was funny and sweet with great character development. It gave me all the feels! It also made we want to book a trip to Florence!
THE FEAR OF FALLING (Love Connection Series #5) by: Dana LeCheminant @authordanalecheminant
••I give 5 stars!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
~What happens in Italy—>follows you home...
-THE FEAR OF FALLING, is such a delightful closed-door workplace romance that wonderfully combines witty banter, undeniable sizzling chemistry, and sweet, heartfelt moments. Watching dear characters navigate love and ambition on their own terms was quite the adventure that takes place in both Italy and Utah. Seeing this couple choose to work through individual inner struggles, and doing all they can with their hopes and desires for the future was so heartwarming. This dear story is part of a multi-author series, and each one within is worth the delightful fun read and fun adventure!📚🙌🏻❤️
“You’re not willing to admit it yet, but we could be a great us, Benson. You and me, taking on the world together. Trust Me.”
•Content: Complicated family relationships, insecurities, comparing to others, miscommunications,
“It’s like a shooting star. You can’t plan for them, and if you try, you’ll be disappointed. But you also have to slow down if you want to see one. Let yourself be in the moment, without any distractions.”
-I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
“There are so many people in the world who love you and want you in their lives.”
I loved this book and it was my favorite of the whole series. I laughed, I cried, I swooned. Benson helped Avery find herself again and she in turn helped him. They both had a bit to work through, but that’s what made their connection so strong. I’ve become a huge fan of this author recently. She definitely has a gift for storytelling.
This is a sweet romcom. Avery has recently broken up with her fiancé and goes on a trip to Italy. There she meets Benson. Benson has commitment issues but isn’t opposed to a fling. Avery doesn’t normally do flings but decides to with Benson. What starts as a fling leads to more after vacation ends. And they meet again at her workplace. This is not my usual type of story that I like to read to be honest but… I love this author so I wanted to read it. It was really sweet. I really loved the character growth and how they helped each other with their issues. Avery and Benson are a great couple. It takes them a lot of work to get there but I love that. This is part of series so we se some reoccurring characters. Overall, I thought this a great story. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Content: kisses/makeouts, 2 uses of “h*ll”
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
This book is the perfect blend of romance, tension, and heartwarming moments that will have you hooked from the first page. This book beautifully explores the complexities of love, personal growth, and second chances, all wrapped up in a dreamy Italian adventure.
Avery’s journey is both relatable and compelling. She’s trying to move on from a failed engagement, but when she meets Benson, an irresistible stranger with a smile that could melt anyone’s heart, it feels like a much-needed escape. Their spontaneous fling in Italy is everything she needs to remind herself that life can still be fun—and even more so when you’re not expecting it.
But the twist when she returns home—finding out that Benson is not only her new marketing consultant but also her ex’s longtime friend—is pure magic. The tension between Avery and Benson is palpable, and I loved how their chemistry grew from an initial fling into something deeper. Their dynamic is charged with conflict, vulnerability, and a longing for something more, making their relationship feel both natural and poignant.
Benson’s reluctance to commit added a rich layer to the story. His backstory, his fears, and his gradual shift from commitment-phobe to someone considering a real future with Avery are so well-done. Watching him confront his own demons while Avery continues to believe in their potential kept me eagerly turning pages.
What I adored most was how the story delved into the idea that sometimes you have to face your fears and take risks to find what you truly want. The witty banter, emotional depth, and steamy tension make this book an absolute must-read for romance fans.
If you’re looking for a story with heart, passion, and a whole lot of swoon-worthy moments, this is it. Avery and Benson’s journey is a rollercoaster of emotions, and you’ll be rooting for them every step of the way. This book proves that sometimes, love comes when you least expect it—and sometimes, it just might be waiting for you to take a leap.

* I literally love Florence and I’m already so excited! * Ugh. Sir, please stop * I would pass away 😂 * This text conversation with her cousins is too good * That kiss 🤭 * Ahh I KNEW it! * Come on, man * I love how obsessed he is * Awww! 🫶
This was such a fun story! I will admit, I’m a little sad that more of it didn’t happen in Italy, but I loved it all the same!
I feel like Avery and I are a bit of kindred spirits. She is bold and loves books and loves to travel. And I loved how even though she had lost some of her adventurous nature, she found her way back.
“…at this point I don’t want to pretend I’m anything but who I am.”
Benson is so charming and I love him! I love how just right from the start he encouraged Avery to be 100% herself. I do wish there had been just a little more resolution with his family, but Benson is a sweetie and I loved him.
“I am so far gone for this woman that pretty much everything she does brings light into my life.”
The story was fun and sweet and swoony and I enjoyed it all the way through!
“You’re not willing to admit it yet, but we could be a great us, Benson. You and me, taking on the world together. Trust me.”
Thank you to the author for the ebook. All opinions are my own.
✨The Fear of Falling✨ Book 5 in A Love Connections Sweet Romcom series
“This guy is sexiness incarnate, and I’m an uptight publisher who owns too many pairs of slacks and forgot how to go through life without a plan.”
Oh my word!!! This story was so incredibly fun, swoony, hilarious, and full of tension and flirtatious dialogue! I am absolutely loving this series and seeing all the characters we know and love from the previous books. This is book 5 of the series and can be read as a standalone, but do yourself a favor and read all of these books!
Avery is on her way to Italy for her honeymoon, without a husband... She and her ex-fiancé ended their relationship of 6 years, but have maintained their professional relationship with their publishing company. The trip was already paid for and she has always wanted to go to Italy. Eric can manage on his own for a week. She is fine, he is fine, they are fine. At least, that’s what she keeps telling herself. Well, she finally lets her feelings out on her flight to Rome…her seatmate thinks she’s going to a funeral. With all her crying, it is understandable.
Benson runs his own business and it keeps him going from place to place, never settling down in one place for too long. He is on his way to Italy to see his friend’s wedding and he has managed to put work aside for a week. He’s exhausted but cannot get any sleep with the woman sitting next to him on his flight. He’s a people person, he fixes things. He helps pull her from her sadness, and the rest of the flight is uneventful. He still can’t sleep, but it is for very different reasons... After getting off the plane and finding his own ride to his hotel, he sees this same woman in a long line to get a taxi…he shouldn’t call out to her from his own taxi, but she is so captivating…
Benson is Avery’s knight in shining armor in every way. He swoops in and saves her several times in just her first day in Italy, and has even agreed to be her own personal tour guide. They agree to no personal information being shared and to keep things casual. She can do this! She will not let her heart fall for this flirty, uncommitted man. But as the week goes on, Avery discovers she feels more for this man than he could ever feel for her.
“Keep being brave, Avery Grace. The world needs the woman you really are. Not the one you think you should be.”
She leaves Italy feeling more refreshed and more herself than she has in a long time. When she gets back to work, she finds her business partner hired someone to help grow their company. He is Eric’s friend from college and the man who stole her heart in Italy. What follows is a most heartwarming, hilarious, and romantic story. The Fear of Falling is already on my list of books to re-read. 🫠🧡🔥
“For the first time in my life, I refuse to give up just because something is hard. I’m not going anywhere.”
I LOVED the character arcs of Benson and Avery and how much they both grow as individuals and together through the story. Benson faces his commitment issues and Avery doesn’t let her past get in her way of her future.
‘He’s like Batman swooping in out of nowhere to save the day. Or Bruce Wayne? Batman if the vigilante part of him dressed like Bruce Wayne. Gah! His initials are even B.W.! Ridiculous.’
Thank you to the author for my advance copy. All thoughts are my own.
This book has already landed itself on the top of my list of books to read again. The Fear of Falling by Dana LeCheminant is romcom gold. It needs to be read and read often.
The story focuses on Avery as she goes on her Italian honeymoon alone after calling off her wedding. While in Florence, Avery gets swept up a light-hearted fling with Benson, a fellow American attending a friend’s wedding. Avery won’t let herself admit that she could fall for Benson for real if they hadn’t agreed to keep things casual. When Avery returns to work after her trip, she comes face to face with Benson, the consultant her partner hired to help them build their business. The story that follows is funny and heartbreaking and full of hope and so swoony.
I loved Avery. I thought her character arc was so well done. I loved seeing how she grew in confidence and really came into her own. It was so fun to see Avery flirt and challenge Benson. I loved seeing his reactions to Avery treating him how he treated her in Florence. It was so good.
LeCheminant did a great job of showing how Avery wasn’t a good match for her ex-fiancé, Eric without making Eric into a horrible guy. It was so refreshing and sweet. I also loved the addition of Benson being friends with Eric. LeCheminant did a beautiful job of looking at choice and how choices lead us down the right paths. I loved how Avery made that observation in the book.
Benson was a dream. He was successful, well-traveled, gorgeous, and wealthy, but he also felt he wasn’t enough and avoided relationships. I loved how Avery really saw him for who he was, supported him, and challenged him. The bond they felt from the very beginning was so beautiful as it grew and changed as their relationship changed.
Now that I have gushed about Avery and Benson, I have to mention Florence. I loved the Italian setting. I went to Florence on my honeymoon years ago, so it was a delight to experience it again with Avery and Benson. The first kiss in Florence was perfect--IYKYK!!!
I adored everything about this book. From Avery’s book publishing company to the cousins to the romance, I loved everything about it. It was the perfection addition to the Love Connections series. I could go and on about how much I love this book, but you need to read it.
Dana LeCheminant’s books always pleasantly surprise me - I go in expecting to love it and then the book exceeds my expectations and I get even more pulled in to the story than anticipated!
Avery is the sort of character you know needs a HEA right in chapter one. Her very meh relationship of six years has just ended, and you just know she deserves better. (Also, normally I’d be very worried about rebound relationships for the character, but it was so clearly written that the relationship had died well before the breakup; it was mostly Avery moving on from the idea of the relationship at that point). Off she goes to Italy, on what was supposed to be her honeymoon - where nothing goes to plan but in the very best way. Avery and Benson are the best sort of couple - they each bring out the best in each other and are so authentic together!
Also, compliments to both LeCheminant and fellow Love Connections author Hillary Slaughter. Given that their books cover the stories of two very close sisters, it was obviously important that the characters match in both books. They clearly communicate and work together very well, because the portrayals of Avery and Dani are seamless between the two books. That’s no easy feat!
Thank you to the author for the ARC; all opinions are my own.
This is a sweet contemporary romance. Our heroine Avery, who runs a publishing company with her ex, heads off to Italy on the trip that had been scheduled to be her honeymoon. Seated next to her crying form on the plane is Benson, a workaholic who bounces from place to place. When he offers to let her share his cab and then gives up his hotel room for her, she’s caught his eye. The problem? He doesn’t do anything with commitment. So, we are off on an instalove, week-long, fling. There is banter and some kisses (but bedroom activities are specifically off limits). And then it ends. When Benson shows up in Utah, at Avery’s company, long time friend of her ex, their forced proximity keeps things on the edge. There are sweet moments with them. There are family moments and the publishing business is woven in as well. However, the strong thread throughout this book is one of a fling - of no commitment. There were solid characters and I did find the story enjoyable. This is a just kisses romance, intimacy level 2.
I received an eARC of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Another amazing read from Dana LeCheminant! It was so easy to fall into the story and just get lost. I loved it!
When Avery’s engagement falls apart she goes on her honeymoon alone to Italy and meets Benson on the plane. When the two run into each other again waiting for a taxi, they decide to spend their time in Italy together and have a vacation romance. They keep their identities a secret as they don’t plan to see each other again after the trip.
I really loved how Avery and Benson met and how they met up again. The flirting between these two was top notch and I really enjoyed the descriptions of Italy. Dana LeCheminant is a favorite author of mine. I read everything she writes and I went into this one blind, knowing I was going to love it! The way they met up again after their trip was a surprise and I enjoyed it that way so much! I love how Benson sees Avery as a passionate, spunky, woman and brings back the parts of her she lost during her relationship with Eric. These two bring out the best in each other and help each other grow. There were several twists in the story as well. I love the way Avery pursues Benson later on in the story when he was so reluctant to fall. This one had some amazing kisses with an absolutely perfect ending. It made me so happy to read.
The Fear of Falling is part of the Love Connections series but can definitely be read as a stand-alone.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
If your engagement ended but the honeymoon trip was nonrefundable, would you still go?! The travel happy person in me says yes, but the romantic in me would be conflicted regardless of the destination. This is clearly not the pickle that Avery has found herself in.
Avery Baldwin, two months removed from her long-time relationship and determined to get away (because her ticket is nonrefundable). Florence, Italy was a long-time fantasy vacation spot, that she never thought she would see by herself! What she wasn’t having an emotional breakdown just before the final leg of the journey or striking up a conversation with her seatmate! Once in Italy, her world is flipped upside down when her seatmate from the plane offers to show her a different perspective of seeing the vibrant city! Thus begins the unexpected adventure that she never expected!
Benson West wasn’t planning on talking to anyone until arriving in Italy for his friend’s wedding, but fate handed him a weepy seatmate that he couldn’t help but be drawn to! Once arriving in Florence, he continued to be thrown into her path. While he knew he was in the city for a friend’s wedding, he proposed a whirlwind adventure of spending time together over the week with no strings attached. Much to his surprise (mine too), she agrees. It’s a week neither of them is bound to forget, but reality settles in as they go their separate ways to return stateside.
Fate continues to mess with this pairing as he turns up at her workplace. Complicated with her business partner being her ex and her new business associate was her fling… oh and both men know each other! Uh oh! Oh this book! It scratched my travel itch and swept me off my feet both abroad and stateside! I truly loved so much about this! While it doesn’t seem practical for these two to be as connected to each other and yet with Dana at the helm of this love story, it was executed perfectly! It was hard to put down! May we all find ourselves trying new things, falling in love with the person who we were meant to be with and allow ourselves to be free enough to make the unexpected choices that will lead to a lifetime of memories! Bravo!
Another super enjoyable Love Connections series book. I loved Avery and Benson’s story.
Avery and her finance broke up before the wedding, but Avery decided to still go on the non refundable honeymoon alone. Distraught over the life she lost, she is surprised to meet a man who challenges her to live in the moment and enjoy Italy. He’s kind and funny and makes her realize how much she has changed while dating her ex. She is determined to live life as her authentic self.
Benson loves his job and travel, and is not ready to stay in one place or with one person. He enjoys his time in Italy with Avery, but never expects to see her again. When his next consulting job is at her business his plans are foiled. Can he keep his distance from Avery, or is there happiness in commitment and building a life in one place.
I loved how Avery and Benson learn to live life more happily when they are together. They both have some painful experiences in their past and I loved the support they provided for each other as they confront the people in their life that have caused them pain.
This was a fun lighthearted romcom with depth that made me love and connect to the characters. It was such a fun read.
