Katie Reus® is the USA Today bestselling author of the Endgame trilogy, the MacArthur Family series and the Deadly Ops series. She fell in love with romance at a young age thanks to books she pilfered from her mom's stash. Years later she loves reading romance almost as much as she loves writing it. However, she didn't always know she wanted to be a writer. After changing majors many times, she finally graduated with a degree in psychology. Not long after that she discovered a new love. Writing. She now spends her days writing paranormal romance and sexy romantic suspense.
Hunter Reborn by Katie Reus Moon Shifter series #5. Dark paranormal wolf shifter romantic suspense. Best read in series order. Wolf shifter Aiden has been heartsick for over sixty years having lost his bondmate. During an undercover investigation, he’s shocked to find Larissa in a bar that is a suspected underground trafficking in vampire blood. He’s been a warrior and part of Connor’s pack since he lost her. Vampire Larissa Danesti doesn’t know the wolf shifter but feels the bondmate connection. She’s been hidden and buried in stasis for over sixty years. She was told the stasis was for her protection after a shifter named Aiden killed her parents. Feeling her connection to him, she knows he’s not lying when he denies killing her parents. As a vampire of royal blood and a daywalker, Larissa is in danger from those dealing in vampire blood. Aiden’s wolf pack is hunting down the traffickers and she joins them. She’s not going to lose him a second time.
🎧 I listened to an audiobook version of this story narrated by Meg Sylvan who has performed the full series to-date. The emotions of suspense, victim’s terror and mated lust comes through clearly in the recording as does Vivian’s precociousness and all the males protective instincts. The story goes from action to lusty downtime and back taking the listener along for the ride. The distinct voices for the main characters made it easy to follow the story and characters. I listened at 1.5 which closer matches my reading and conversational speed.
A wild ride of hunter and lovers in this continuing wolf pack protecting their families and neighbors from evil. Riveting.
I knew from the previous installment that HUNTER REBORN was going to home in on Katie Reus’ vampires, and that was a tad worrisome because I LOVE her werewolves. Well, it turns out that I enjoyed her bloodsuckers almost as much, especially with Larissa at the helm. There were several romances unfolding in conjunction with the central one so that kept things interesting, and the story had some Vlad flair to it which unequivocally equals action as anyone who’s even remotely familiar with the Impaler will affirm.
It’s tough to maintain the same level of world-building after five books, particularly in Paranormal Romance, but somehow this author accomplishes it. I was impressed with her fang mythology, and will be holding out for more in subsequent MOON SHIFTER novels. The lore encompassing the Brethren was clever as was the role that the heroine’s abilities played in crushing the plot’s antagonist. I was happy with the way that Reus incorporated all of this series’ previous main characters while also simultaneously adding new ones.
Originally I thought that this was going to be Ryan and Teresa’s tale because of the introductory chapters, and the fact that I didn’t read the blurb (my bad). I was hoping for more quality time with the werewolf cowboy hacker; however as far as side threads go, it was a good one. I also enjoyed the cute sparks between Lucas & Vivian, the cubs that the pack adopted, as well as Natalie & Aldric’s burgeoning flirtations. It’s hard to pinpoint who’ll be the next couple to get their HEA, but I like the candidates so far.
Second chance romances have been growing on me in recent years, maybe it’s an age thing, either way Reus knows how to sate her readers’ thirst for PNR. Larissa’s been in stasis for sixty years which made her POV quite humorous because on top of having to reconnect with Aiden, she had to decipher twenty first century tech. The compulsory between the sheets romp doesn’t go down until the last chapter, although there was lots of heavy petting along the way, so you’re not left completely high and dry on steam.
HUNTER REBORN wasn’t my favourite MOON SHIFTER installment, but it’s in my top three. ~ 4.5 stars
Aiden Nicholl is a wolf shifter from the Armstrong-Cordanna pack. He is the one who turned Kat (Jayce mate, from the book Mating Instinct). For the last sixty years he has been mourning the loss of his bondmate privately, to the outside world he has been flirting and acting happy. He also likes to annoy his packmates that are have found their mates yet are acting like boneheads around them by making them jealous. Aiden felt they were stupid for not being with their mates when they had the chance especially since his Larissa was gone.
“I’ve loved you since the moment we met and that feeling never died, even when I thought you had. The fact that you can’t remember me, remember us, kills me.”
Larissa Danesti has been in a coma/sleep statis for the last sixty years. She is a bloodborn royal vampire from the Danesti line, one of the strongest/powerful line because of which she has some special gifts from her mothers side of the family, also her father Vlad Dracul. She is said to be very powerful and confident because of it by Aiden. She is also a lot older than Aiden:
“You are such a cheeky little male.” She waved a hand at the giant, Adonis-looking shifter”
“Without a doubt she knew he was the male she wanted to be with forever.”
Aiden and Larissa bonded much to their parents disapproval and both of their families disowned them. They had only been mated for a month when Larissa was put under statis, breaking the bondmate link leading to Aiden believing that she had died since he couldnt find her.
“Larissa to her parents: “We love each other and we’ve made our choice. Either live with it or don’t, but we’ve done nothing wrong. If anyone is being foolish, it’s you. ”
When Larissa wakes up from her statis, she doesnt remember Aiden. So it was kind interesting to see Larissa fall back in love and slowly remember their life together. I really liked Larissa and Aiden and really wish I had gotten to know more about them.
Quibbles: Through almost 60% of the book, Aiden and Larissa got no screen time at all. Every other or every third chapter was about them. I wanted to know more about them, I like the others in the series and it was great seeing them together but it bugged me when every other couple was getting scenes but the couple of the book. I would have also liked some more flashbacks of during the time they met and the month they were bonded.
Overall, this was a great addition to the series and I’m enjoying it. Looking forward to the next book in the series. Happy Reading.
My husband and I recently celebrated our 8 year anniversary with a weekend away sans children. That being said I was able to read A LOT without the interruptions. So I decided to go ahead and finish this series since the last few books were shorter. I was in the mood for some shifter drama, and this series was able to deliver. This book focuses on Aiden and Larissa. They defied the rules of the time and despite being different species, him a shifter she a vamp, they bonded. They were in love. They were looking forward to setting an example for future generations until Aiden felt the bond break. Which in his mind meant she had died. He has now been roaming lost and lonely for 200 years since then.
All of this changes when he sees her while him and his packmates are out on a mission. No way- it can't be her. But then he realizes it absolutely is. He doesn't think before grabbing her and bringing her with him to cabin. He can't believe it. The bond is back and everything. Though it is much weaker than it was. But now Larissa is awake, and she is fighting him. She has now recollection of who he is. In fact, a witch has convinced her that Aiden was responsible for her parents death. Despite that, Aiden convinces her to let him help her find this witch and figure things out. Because he realizes the mistakes he made with her long ago, and they won't be happening this time.
Larissa is beyond confused. She has found herself in a cabin with a wolf shifter who claims to be her bondmate. And she can tell he is telling her the truth but she has zero idea who he is. Yet she finds herself trusting him. And wanting him. Her body may remember him but her mind does not. Then she starts having dreams of their courtship. She realizes that he is special to her. She isn't ready to explore things just yet because she wants to figure out who this witch is. Why would someone want to lie to her about who killed her parents? Are they really dead? Who is behind all of this deceit and death? One thing she knows is that Aiden is it for her, but is she ready to dive in all the way?
I haven't read the amnesia trope yet, but I liked it. I liked how much they both felt the connection but then of course there was angst because she didn't want to give in yet and Aiden wanted to give her space. I liked the flashbacks of when they were young and how brave and bold they were together. It seemed that after they were reunited, they both started becoming brave and bold again. They both became ALIVE. I really like this world and am excited to see how all of these other stories wrap up!
Katie Reus brings us back to her Moon Shifter world with Aiden’s story. You may remember the gruff shifter as the member of Connor’s pack who turned Kat when she was on the verge of death. But I think that even if you are unfamiliar with the series, Reus writes the story in such a way, you could jump in and read this as a standalone. That’s a good thing, I think, because even though I have read every book in this series, there are so many characters at this point, I couldn’t keep them all straight without some gentle reminders.
Aiden has been mourning the death of his bondmate Larissa for decades. But as the story begins, he comes face to face with the beautiful vampire he never expected to see again. Obviously, she isn’t dead. She has been in stasis for more than half a century. Larissa has no memory of Aiden or their mating, but when they meet again, their bond snaps right back in place, and with it, all of their shared thoughts and emotions. The story follows these two as they try to uncover what tore them apart and who is still gunning for Larissa, as they slowly rebuild the relationship they lost so long ago.
I have to say that I have some mixed feelings about this book. I liked Aiden and Larissa well enough, but I felt the lack from missing out on their falling in love. When we first see them together, Aiden’s feelings are already at 1000% and Larissa’s resistance is token at best. Honestly, I was far more invested in the b-plot romance of Ryan and Teresa. I’m also really excited about the potential between Natalia and Jayce’s brother, Aldric. But Aiden and Larissa were… ok.
The mystery plot for them was better than the romance. It kept me guessing. Unfortunately, the ending did not live up to the build on that front. The big climax was, well, anticlimactic. The villain reveal was barely more than an afterthought; his motivation, weak. And Reus saved the sex for the very end, too, which felt contrived. I wanted more. I know this series is capable of it. But some of this book just didn’t live up to its potential. Like for instance, the first time Larissa and Aiden almost have sex, she demures, saying, “I don’t think I’m ready for that. Everything is so different in this world. With the Internet, those small cell phones, the mass use of credit cards…. It’s just too much.” What??
Like I said, there were definitely parts I liked. I am so psyched about Aldric. And I loved play of emotions with Ryan and Teresa. I just wish the main romance had the same pull.
While investigating the trafficking of vampire blood, warrior shifter Aiden discovers that the bondmate he thought was dead is very much alive and claims she has no memory of Aiden in this captivating paranormal romance.
Larissa doesn’t understand the feelings for Aiden but has no choice but trust him because her blood is the key to a powerful master’s dangerous plan and the reader can’t help but get caught up in the turmoil that surrounds Aiden and Larissa as they try to put the missing pieces together. These strong compelling characters take the reader by storm with the sparks that fly in every direction, from the fiery clashes of will to the combustible attraction that burns between them and the fast pace and smooth flowing plot keeps readers on their toes with lots of suspense, excitement and romance.
Lots of excitement ensures there is never a dull moment as the danger to Larissa as well as everyone else escalates and the mad vampire proceeds with his diabolical plan to start a war between supernaturals and humans that no will win. The well written scenes and details paint vivid images that bring the story to life while the well orchestrated suspense and action draws the reader in and refuses to let go until they have read every last detail. All the captivating characters from the previous books are back and adding additional excitement and spice to the story as well as introducing new characters for readers to fall in love with.
I was completely enthralled by this exciting and moving Moon Shfiter novel and as always Katie Reus keeps me on my toes with surprising twists and interesting elements, not to mention all the sexy men to drool over and of course I can’t wait to find out what happens next in this series. - Eva
This was my first read in this series, and while I didn't feel lost in picking up book 5, I didn't feel like I knew what was going on, either. I definitely think this would work better if you've read the previous books. Older couples are shown, and while the world is not terribly complicated and you can definitely figure out the basics, parts of it were confusing. The mate bond was tricky. I felt as if I was supposed to know about it already.
That being said, the book worked in all other respects. Larissa is a vampire who has just been woken from stasis by a witch claiming to owe her family a debt. This witch lets her know that her biggest enemy is a wolf shifter named Aiden who killed her family and wants her for his own.
Aiden is with his pack getting ready to go into a club where something bad is going down. He's completely blind-sided though when he sees Larissa...his dead mate. The second they see each other, their mate-bond snaps back in place and he's 100% certain it's her. But where has she been these past 60 years? And how did their bond break in the first place, if death is the only thing that can break it?
Unfortunately Larissa doesn't remember Aiden. But she feels the same pull he does, and she can feel his emotions. He also seems protective of her, and isn't trying to kill her. If the witch was wrong about him, what else was she wrong about?
This is an amnesia story that's done well. Her memory starts to return in bits and pieces; it's not saved until the end when magically everything gets sorted out. It's believable and it doesn't rely on a Big Misunderstanding. She immediately senses Aiden's devotion and love. She begins to trust him early on, and I liked that. I like how they worked together, and I liked how Larissa was able to side with Aiden instead of the witch, rather than forcing a rift between them. There are some cool surprises, and some twists and turns with a pretty nasty villain. This was a solid story, that definitely has me wanting to read more.
I enjoy Katie Reus's Romantic Suspense, so I thought I'd give her PNR a shot. I think if I'd been up to date on the series I might have rated it higher. I just felt like I needed to have read the other books. But, you know, the good news is that now I get to read the other books:) I also love when you find an author whose books work for you, and they have an extensive backlist! I'm one happy hussy over here;P
Hunter Reborn is book five in Katie Reus' Moon Shifter series, and while it can be easily read as a stand alone, I urge you to check out the previous ones because of their awesomeness.
Aiden thought his bondmate had died years ago but while at a night club investigating the illegal sale of vampire blood he sees a familiar face and feels the mate bond snap into place again.
Larissa is alive but she has no memory of Aiden, And although she feels the bond she wary of trusting him. She was told that he was responsible for her parents death and that he would kill her too if he ever caught her.
Aiden is determined to never let his beloved mate out of his sight ever again. And when her life is threatened they both have to work together to find out who is out to end Larissa's life for good this time. As Larissa struggles to regain her memories, she and Aiden find out that there is an even more sinister plot beyond the vampire blood trafficking. An evil that is determined to possess Larissa's blood at any cost...
I love the patience that Aiden has with Larissa! She had been in stasis for so long that the world she has awaken in is completely foreign to her. As she struggles to adapt to her new world and regain her memories we learn that she is not some weak female. Larissa is not only a vampire royal but she is one of the strongest one of their kind. Even though Aiden is in full out protective alpha mode he respects her powers and works side by side with her instead of trying to keep her safe in the background (even though he would love to).
Hunter Reborn was a fast paced suspense with more than enough romance to keep the PNR diehards like myself happy. I also loved the secondary romances and hope they get their own full length stories soon! Witty dialogue, strong storyline and amazing characters, I highly recommend Hunter Reborn!
*I received a copy from the publisher through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
First of all I must say I love the cover. It fits the heroine to the T and I also like that it's not the usual albeit good looking half-naked man that shows it's a paranormal. To me it says "the heroine here is a kick-a$$ supernatural wonder." Anyways, as far as the story, the beginning was a little discombobulated to me, perhaps because it takes me a little time to get into the story but I felt it was too many characters thrown in at once. Of course they have all been part of the series so far but still, it was too much for me to handle. Once the action settled down a bit, I got into the story a lot more easily. Reus has a knack for keeping the physical tension between characters in check, and this was no exception. Even though Aiden and Larissa were mates and had bounded in the past they did not jump at each other at the fist chance they got. There had to be a rebuild of trust of sorts and Aiden handled the situation perfectly -oh, how I loved the man for that. The fact that there was kind of a secondary romance story line made the whole even better. At one point I thought perhaps she'd knock two birds with one stone because the other couple was also hawt! But alas, it was not meant to happen in this book. I cannot wait for their story to happen. Now, there were other times when I felt there were a few cliches happening, and the dialogue felt a bit flat, specially when it came to the villains. All in all, I will continue reading the series and I'd recommend it to fans of PNR that like suspense mixed in their stories.
++I received a copy of this story in exchange of an honest review++
In the interest of full disclosure, I have to say that I am a Katie Reus fan. I have read all 10 books in her Red Stone Security series, the Serafina: Sin City and Dark series. However, I have not read a single book in the Moon Shifter series and this is book FIVE.
I am happy to say that Ms. Reus has hit a homerun. I don’t always love it when my favorite contemporary authors go into the paranormal romance realm. Sometimes the elements don’t translate well and things get a little wonky. I am happy to say this is NOT the case here. I loved the story. I thought it was creative, suspenseful and fun. The author brings the right level of emotionality so that we, as readers, get hooked into the drama.
I’ve said this before and it is still true. Katie Reus’ books would make great movies. Her writing is engaging - it pumps up the blood pressure, and is very visual. Having not read the previous four books, I had a small concern where this book could stand alone. I’m not a huge fan of jumping to the middle of a series, but what I realize is that it all depends on the author. At no time during the story did I feel lost. The author provides plenty of context and enticing details that made me want to read the earlier books instead of putting me off.
IN A NUTSHELL:
Whether you are a long time fan of Katie Reus or new to her books, you will enjoy this read.
Give me a paranormal romance, throw in shifters and vampires, a dollop of suspense, amnesia and a second chance, strong writing, brilliant story and awesome characters and I'm one happy girl.
I got all this and more in Hunter Reborn. I have really enjoyed this series and this one is no exception. Another brilliant book from Katie Reus, that has left me desperate for more in this series.
One thing I will say, although each couple in the series gets their HEA I would strongly advise reading the entire series in order, I think without doing this you would be a bit lost.
Aiden is a sweet and hot shapeshifter! So happy he got his own book.:) Larissa is perfect for him.*Grin*I hope this is not the last book in the series.Jayce´s brother need his own book.
I got an ARC from the Publisher and this is my honest review.
I liked the romance and suspense overall, but not as much as I did Erin and Noah's story. Plus, the premise was misleading. It made it sound like there was a lot of drama with Larissa wanting to leave Aiden- which I wouldn't have been surprised about considering she basically discovered she was bonded (lifelong, no less) to a strange male- when in reality Larissa never really tried to.
I liked Aiden, but he didn't really stand out to me from the other overly protective, possessive males in the series.
I liked Larissa more; I thought that she was strong and yet vulnerable and I liked her backstory. I still prefer Erin, but Larissa was a pretty good heroine.
The romance had chemistry and decent development. I usually like second chance romances because I like reading about the history between two characters, and this one was no different though I wish there was more scenes of the past.
The suspense was alright but kind of lackluster at the end. I didn't expect Cornelius, the main bad character, to be just a regular vampire with powers from the dark arts. After all the buildup, especially with Magda the witch and Ned the human that was trafficking the vampire blood, I kind of expected more. I hope there's more on demons in the next few books.
I also wish there was more information on different abilities- from Ryan's empath abilities to Kat's psychic ability to see auras... my biggest complaint with this series is that the worldbuilding is rather lacking.
But overall, I enjoyed this read and I liked reading about the other characters- from the ones whose stories are next and the ones who are already happily mated.

This was absolutely fascinating! I loved Larissa and Aiden’s unique history. Their story kept me engaged from the first pages. I was anxious to find out exactly what had happened to Larissa and how it was all going to play out for Aiden and her both. This had so many twists and turns. I was unable to predict what might happen next.
I loved both of these characters. Their journey was not typical of shifter romance which made it all the more exciting. My heart hurt for them both as they struggled with the past and the present. While this was a bit angsty in places, it was not overwhelming. The addition of past characters and the introduction of new ones added to my overall enjoyment of this book.

REVIEW: 4.25 stars--HUNTER REBORN is the fifth full length installment in Katie Reus’s adult, contemporary Moon Shifter paranormal romance series. This is warrior/wolf shifter Aiden and five hundred year old, royal family vampire Larissa’s storyline-a second chance at love tale.
Told from third person point of view using present day, flashbacks and unfolding memories, the focus of the storyline is two fold. As the Armstrong Cordona Pack continues their search for the people or species responsible for the trafficking of vampire blood, our hero Aiden will discover that the mate he long thought dead is alive. The problem-Larissa doesn’t remember Aiden, their mating, or anything about the previous sixty years. When Aiden sets eyes on his wayward mate, their matebond is immediately reconnected leaving a shocked Larissa ready to run.
The prior connection between our couple has already been established. For the past sixty years Aiden believed his mate was dead; their matebond severed; and his heart heavy with sorrow. With Larissa’s return, Aiden must uncover the truth behind his mate’s disappearance, its’ connection to the past, and the who and why of such a treacherous feat. Larissa and Aiden cannot, and do not, deny their attraction and tie to one another; Larissa’s acceptance is fairly easy considering the reality of the situation and what she has been told. Larissa’s connection to the Pack’s investigation will pull our couple and the shifters into a dangerous and dark world.
The secondary and supporting characters include Magda-a witch whose ‘master’ demands obedience and blood; a number of ancient vampires with connections to Larissa’s family, and several members of the Armstrong-Cordona Wolf Pack first introduced in the previous installments. The AC Pack is strong, cohesive and welcoming of interspecies relationships-something not all supernatural powers are willing to accept.
Although this is the fifth installment in the series, HUNTER REBORN can be read as a stand alone without too much difficulty. Any important information is revealed when necessary but for cohesion and familiarity of characters and their history, I suggest reading in order. There are also a couple of other developing relationships throughout the story (Ryan and Teresa/ Natalia and Aldric) that set up possible future books and storylines.
HUNTER REBORN is a second chance storyline for two people whose love for one another was silenced by revenge and discrimination; hatred and deceit. There are moments of humor, romance, action and suspense with a little bit of $ex to stir your imagination. Katie Reus pulls the reader into an imaginative world of the supernatural. The storylines are addicting, captivating and leave you wanting more.
Hunter Reborn is the 5th book in the Moon Shifter series by Katie Reus and tells the story of Aiden Nicholl, a werewolf shifter and Larissa Danesti, a natural born royal vampire.
All Aiden ever wanted was his mate. So, when he finally found her, he couldn’t believe how lucky he was until she was taken from him. Now, sixty years later, Aiden can only but remember what his bond to Larissa felt like. Her loss left him bare. How can a man recover from such loss? Finding a new pack, gives Aiden some hope but can’t replace the yearning in his heart. Until the night that changes everything…
On a mission to find the ones responsible for trafficking vampire blood, Aiden and his pack visit one of the most popular vampire clubs. Everyone knows what they should be looking for and that’s not a vampire that looks like Larissa. Aiden can’t help himself but follow the woman who looks exactly like his dead mate. Larissa and he are face to face when their old bond reactivates. The force of the bond is so powerful that Larissa is knocked out while Aiden seems unable to control his wolf. But for a while everything and everyone is forgotten because for a while his mate is back!
After been awaked from a sixty years stasis by a witch (who claims to be her friend), Larissa has many questions but most importantly she feels that she is forgetting something or someone. So when she bonds with the wolf rumored to have killed her parents, Larissa needs some answers and fast.
But is she ready to face the truth that was taken from her?
Hunter Reborn was a beautiful book. It was about second chances, a deep love that managed to survive through the ages and finally it was a story that healed. Aiden thought he got his mate back and he once again became the carefree man he was, only to be crashed again by Larissa’s lack of memories. Their bond was back but Aiden needed to claim her again, his Larissa. Much as he wanted to claim her, he had to earn her trust first and help her remember the love they once shared.
I fell in love with this book, with Aiden and the love that never weakened. Beautiful, magical and enthralling! That’s what this book was. We got to see Aiden and Larissa making new memories but the author didn’t neglect to give us glimpses of the life they shared. It was amazing seeing how they met, how they fell in love and how they claimed each other. Their stubbornness, their determination, their fierceness and their love made this story so exceptional.
But not for a minute think that this is just a romance. We get action, suspense, a bit of mystery, twists and turns and amazing secondary characters. Some we already know and some are new. We get to see Connor and Anna, Vivian and Lucas (little cuties), Jayce and Kat, Ryan and Teresa (new couple on the horizon) and Natalia. One character I didn’t expect to see was Jayce’s brother, Aldric. Aldric makes his appearance here and although I didn’t like him that much in the beginning, I can say that he wasn't the bad guy I thought him to be.
I really liked this book! Highly recommended!

It is filled with incredible hot scenes between the two lost mates that are reunited. Unexpected twist and turns in the plot will keep the reader turning pages to find out what happens next.
Would I recommend this author: Yes! When an author becomes a must read even before the book is released, then you know that author is an astonishing talent. Ms. Reus is such an author and each book she gifts her readers with is better than the last one. A must author that should be on everyone’s must read list!

This is the 5th book in the Moon Shifter series but it can be read as a stand-alone.
Aiden Nicholl, a werewolf shifter, is tracking down a lead on the trafficking of vampire blood with a team of his pack mates when he espies and then feels his bond-mate, a woman whom he believed died when their bond link was broken sixty years ago. Her loss had devastated him and now her presence has reactivated the connection between them. Nothing will stop Aiden from getting to his mate but when he finally has her he’s devastated again for she doesn’t remember him though she does feel their link. Much as he wants to claim her he first has to earn her trust and help her remember the love that they once shared and what it cost them.
Larissa Danesti is a five hundred year old natural born vampire of royal lineage who has been asleep in stasis for the past sixty years. She was awakened by a witch who professed to be her friend, this she accepted as truth since she has no memory of her past life. When she runs across what shouldn’t be possible, a shifter who is her bond-mate she knows that she’s been lied to. Though she feels the mate connection the man is still a stranger to her. She must sift through the lies she’s been told and unravel her memories for them to have a future and to find out what happened to her family.
There is something sinister going on tied to the use of vampire blood that is making certain vampires and even some humans act strangely. Upon investigation it is found that Larissa’s reappearance in the world is somehow tied to this. She is a vampire with a secret that she doesn’t remember but someone out there does; someone with evil designs for the world. The reunited bond-mates have much to deal with as they try to reconnect their lives and with the help of Aiden’s pack solve the mystery of what is going on and who is after Larissa and for what purpose.
This series has great likable characters. The hero and the heroine are both strong willed with a softer side to them and though they challenge each other the deep love they feel for each other brings out their vulnerabilities. This book had mystery, action, suspense and a sexy second chance romance. The storyline with all its twists kept me turning the pages. And there is more than one romance in play for there are subplots with two other couples which did not detract from the main. The pack here is quite unique, allowing for a mix of shifters and different species couplings. In its diversity is its strength. I look forward to more stories in this series.
NUMBER OF HEARTS: 4 1/2 REVIEW: Another great story from Ms. Reus. There is a lot going on in this book so I will do my best to not give you any spoilers. While this is Aiden’s story, we get to see a lot of two other possible (okay one seems pretty for sure) couples which makes me so very excited about the next few books in this series. But back to Aiden’s story. In the very beginning we learn a lot more about Aiden and why he is the way that he is. We learn about the level of grief that he has endured for years. As the story goes on we learn more about the who’s, the why’s and the what’s that lead Aiden down a very grief stricken road. But now that things changed Aiden will never let anyone hurt what is his again. I loved Larissa. She is feisty and sweet. I really loved Aiden and Larissa’s first encounter. Even if it ended with both of them on the floor. :) You will have to read to find out what I am talking about. If you are a Moon Shifter fan you will love this book. If you are new to this series I would highly suggest that you start from the being of the series. There is an ongoing story line that flows from one book to the next.

Another great read from Katie Reus. Never let down when her name is on the by line. In this the 5th book of the Moon Shifter series, we finally get the goods on the sexy as hell Aiden. As the pack heads out to find the source of the vampire blood trafficking, Aiden is thrust back into the feelings of the bond-mate he lost 60 years ago. When he realizes that she has no memory of him except for that she was told he eliminated her family, he needs to prove that his love and their bond will survive all. Larissa was awakened by a not so ‘good’ witch after being in stasis for 60 years to a world that is totally unlike the one she remembers, from cell phones, to clothes and the way people act around her. She is to put it mildly in shock and in fear of being with Aiden even though she feels the bond and knows that she should trust him, she does not remember him. Throughout the story, memories are revealed, darkness is brought upon the pack and the couple as the evil behind the death of Larissa’s parents and the reason she is really awakened is revealed. My favorite parts are the weird blood drinking crap, but hey that is why I love Katie, she gets me! (that part in the cave under the house was the best) LOL We also get a glimpse into Ryan and Theresa’s story, which I am hoping in the next editions we get the full scoop. This book, like the rest kept me turning the pages with eagerness to find out what will happen next and if Aiden and Larissa will make it to their Happy Ever After!…. You will have to read it to find out!

Katie sure knows how to spin a story. This story had plots that twisted and turned, you never knew which way it was really going to go. You could guess but chances are you would be off. This story felt like I was riding a roller coaster blind folded. It kept me on the edge of my seat and I had to finish the books. There was no putting it down. once I started I needed to finish. And I did, in one sitting.
Aiden has lived with the pain of losing someone he loved. He is protective of his pack. Especially the females. He loved to provoke the males, especially if they were being "dicks" about their potential mates. During a mission Aiden spotted a female with blue-black hair. He needed to know who she was. He had to know for sure if his mind was playing tricks on him. Deep down he knew he could blow this mission but he could not walk away. What he saw and felt was simply not possible.
Larissa was on a mission herself. She needed information. She was woken from her stasis by a witch. Now she was feeling lost and confused in a world that had changed since she was last in it. She does not remember parts of her past. It is like a blank screen which confuses her even more.
Larissa passes out on seeing Aiden. Aiden could not believe what he was seeing. There was no way. Together Larissa and Aiden have to figure out what is the truth. Who do they believe and who is coming after Larissa?
Hunter Reborn is book number five in the Moon Shifter series. You can read this book as a stand-alone but I feel that you would get more background into the dynamics of this series if you have read the other books. That being said, this book is about Aiden. He is a wolf shifter that lost his bondmate decades ago. His was a rare mating as he was mated to a vampire. Aiden and Larissa defied their powerful families to bondmate. When Larissa disappeared and the mating link was broken Aiden was devastated. Fast forward to the present – Aiden and other pack-mates are investigating the illegal trafficking of vampire blood. During his investigation Aiden discovers his lost mate Larissa. She has no memory of him, their mating or where she has been. She certainly doesn’t trust him and wants nothing to do with him. As they try to uncover who is behind the trafficking – it becomes clear that he needs Larissa’s blood to complete his plan. Aiden is not willing to loose Larissa a second time and fights with all he has to keep her. The suspense in this book was great – it keeps you guessing until the end trying to figure out who the bad guy is. The paranormal world that Ms. Reus has created for this series is great. The plot moves along well and the character interactions are believable. I truly enjoy this series and look forward to more Moon Shifter books.
I was provided an ARC of this book by the publisher through Net Galley for an honest review.

REVIEW: Loved it! Hunter Reborn is the fifth book in Katie Reus's Moon Shifter Series and while it can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the series in order. They're all great. Hunter Reborn captivated me from start to finish. It has a unique plot with plenty of hot romance and suspense. I loved Aiden and Larissa together! Aiden is all alpha, but respects his mate's strengths enough to stand beside her instead of trying to hold her back. I just loved him! Most of this series is about shifters, but Katie Reus was able to switch up the storyline with this vampire couple and give readers a look into their world. I highly recommend this book and this series for paranormal lovers. It's incredible and I can't wait for the next book.

Reus has a way of writing strong, sexy, protective alphas that you can't help but love. This second chance story has it all from suspense and mystery to a Romeo & Juliet type love story. The prejudice against a different species from both families added a nice aspect to the story.
Larissa is a strong vampire who can take care of herself...most of the time. Aiden is a sexy wolf that gets a second chance with his mate. He is such a great character. He respects his female and recognizes that she probably could take care of herself, but feels the need to protect her anyway. I'd say more, but don't want to spoil the ending.
This is the 5th book in the Moon Shifter series and it is one of the strongest instalments yet!
Decades ago Aiden's vampire bondmate disappeared without a trace, leaving him devastated as he believed she had died. Now a chance encounter brings her back into his life, only Larissa has no memory of Aiden or the love they once shared. Can they work together to find out what tore them apart as they battle to keep Larissa safe?
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it's renewed my love for the series and I definitely like the way the overall story arc is developing. It was fun catching up with older characters and I am truly intrigued by some of the new additions, I can't wait to discover what is coming next!
While investigating the trafficking of vampire blood, warrior shifter Aiden discovers that the bondmate he thought was dead is very much alive and claims she has no memory of Aiden in this captivating paranormal romance. I was completely enthralled by this exciting and moving Moon Shfiter novel and as always Katie Reus keeps me on my toes with surprising twists and interesting elements, not to mention all the sexy men to drool over and of course I can’t wait to find out what happens next in this series.
It seems like with this book strides have been made in the supernatural world. Some of it had to do with Aiden finding Larissa again, some with who Larissa is and how others view her, but a lot within the pack. I liked that Aiden got a second chance with Larissa, that over time Larissa got her memories back. I also liked that Ryan finally came clean with Teresa. His honesty and why he acted seemed to have a big effect on Teresa and put Ryan's past actions in a different light.
With all the big changes within the pack and new alliances it will be interesting where things go from here.
Nice little second chance PNR with an alpha male who waited, stayed faithful for his h for ages. Shifter-vamp romance which is my favourite kind ( reminds of the Underworld romance..sigh ) The head hops were a bit irritating though, I remember at least 8 POVs if not more - personally I prefer one POV at the most two.
