Overall, I liked the collection of books. Some books were much better than the others. It did take me longer than usual to read this book as a lot of the stories are similar and they started to run together so I had to take breaks.
Marines by Jay Allen: 4 stars, interesting, had some boring parts, mostly during the wars, content between wars was interesting
The Gates of Hell by Jay Allen: 4 stars, interesting, had a slow and somewhat boring start, as the book progressed it got much better.
Pennsylvania by Michael Bunker: 5 stars, great and interesting, wish it was longer
Becoming Eagles by Michael Bunker: 5 stars, quick interesting read, didn't want to put it down
Omega Rising by Joshua Dalzelle: 5 stars, interesting read, didn't want to put it down, full of twists and turns and relatable characters
Omega Force by Joshua Dalzelle: 5 stars, great quick read, I wish that it was more than a short story, interested from beginning to end
The Forever Gate: Part 1 by Isaak Hooke: 5 stars, Unique and interesting, kept me guessing. I did not want to put it down.
Caterpillar Without a Callsign by Isaak Hooke: 4.5, kept me on the edge of my seat the entire short story, not a complete 5-star because parts of the beginning were confusing.
The Laurasians by Isaak Hooke: 5 stars, intriguing, kept me on the edge of my seat, I love dinosaurs and this short story fueled that love
Atlas- Deleted Scenes by Isaak Hooke: 5 stars, I can't believe these scenes were deleted. They kept me interested and make me want to read Atlas.
The Empire's Corps by Christopher G. Nuttall: 4 stars, started off slow and parts were boring but then picked up pace and became full of action, keeping me interested through the rest
Blake Coleman Goes Back to School by Christopher G. Nuttall: 5 stars, short, interesting story with comedic relief
Rebel by Edward W. Robertson: 5 stars, enthralling from start to finish, one of my favorites
Dark Space by Jasper T. Scott: 5 stars, so many twists and turns. I enjoyed every moment of it, tied as one of my favorites
Dark Space: A Chance Encounter by Jasper T. Scott: 5 stars, cute short story that gives some background insight into some of the characters
The Terran Gambit by Endi Webb: 5 stars, great read, full of twists and turns and ends in a cliff hanger. My absolute favorite
The Bernoulli Equation by Endi Webb: 4 stars, a cute short story that gives insight into one of the characters of The Terran Gambit, it got slightly boring in a couple of areas, but overall it was good
The Synchronicity War by Dietmar Arthur Wehr: 4 stars, interesting twists and turns with interesting characters, it did become dry in some areas
Galactic Empire Wars: Destruction by Raymond L. Weil: 4 stars, some areas were much more interesting than others, overall an entertaining read
If you like well-plotted, comprehensive books about humans and the galaxy, this contains several you should read and enjoy. The characters are good and heroic and there is some romance as well. Worth buying and following up with the ones that are a aeries. Enjoy!
Ten science fiction novels, mostly first volume in a series for each author. Of the ten, I found four where I intend on reading more of their series (Omega Rising, The Empires Corps, Dark Space and Galactic Empires War plus perhaps Synchronicity War). Props to Pennsylvania for being my first Amish science fiction novel but it like the rest failed to connect with my tastes.
Sorry just too much of the same plain vanilla space war where the authors don’t even bother to develop alien species. I think the m more of the multiple genre stories that get my attention.
All of the books in this anthology were at the very least entertaining. Most captured me from the very beginning. The Synchronicity War series was my favorite and I have already read the second book in that series. While the plots in these books are nowhere near as complicated as the Dune series by Frank Herbert, they were all as captivating as the prequel s written by his son.
The one down side is the amount of time some authors give to tactics, making the read cumbersome at times.
Not for younger readers, but high school and up should grasp easily.
This sci-fi box set is for the true lovers of space opera. Stars & Empire is 10 galactic tales, by various authors, which will leave you gasping for breath from excitement.
Each story is unique and covers the full gambit of space adventures. They are each action packed and fast paced. It provided me with hours of reading enjoyment and pleasure.
I really loved Stars and Empire and highly recommend this box set to all lovers of space opera sci-fi.
A collection of space opera books, the first books in series to wet the appetite. I have read Jasper T Scott (Dark Space) and Joshua Dalzelle (Omega Force) series and enjoyed them and wanted to read the exclusive short stories. Both were very good reads, Jasper's showed how Ethan and Alara met, which was good. Looking forward to reading some of the other first books in series.
I found the stories to be well written on the whole. The selections flowed well from book to book. I found myself adding the second volumes to my wishlist in many cases.
Not as good as I was expecting from other reviewer comments, but perhaps I am expecting too much. Most characters from many of the stories are extremely shallow and the dialog is mind-numbing and contrived.
This is one of the best acquisitions I've ever made. All stories were enjoyed and I purchased the subsequent books from three of the authors to finish their series:) That's the best guide/recommendation I guess :)
I love these sets... gets the authors out there and I get to read the first of several series & I have found several authors that I liked and didn't know about, I have gone on to read many of their complete series. Almost all of them infact.
I really enjoyed reading the first book in this series. Can't wait to get into book two. I like the worlds, the development of the different species. Book one was offered in Stars and
