The life of Eddie Bartlett, a lonely, timid Wall Street research analyst, changes dramatically when he hires the Reynard Agency to help meet beautiful women using their unique dating system. What he didn't know, what no one knew, was that he would meet the girl of his dreams and that death and destruction would follow as he desperately tried to keep her.
This book is unlike any I have ever read. Which is good, because I don't like to be bored when I read. The Agency, if you can get over the occasional missing words, misplaced quotation marks or awkward dialogue, will take you on a thrilling journey filled with humor, sex, friendship, romance, power, violence & everything in between.
The story revolves around Eddie Bartlett, a hard-working Wall Street analyst who is a romantic at heart but just doesn't know how to approach women. His boss & friend, Dave Castro, however is a regular Casanova, and it just gets to be too much for Eddie to see him scoring with the ladies week after week while Eddie lives in constant loneliness, a single 30-something who should be married by now and living his dream of sharing his amazing life with a wife or partner. He decides it's time to do something about his losing streak with women & comes across the Reynard Agency, a unique & exclusive dating service that can guarantee Eddie success with women.
He decides to give it a shot, and boy, is he glad he does! His self esteem is now at an all-time high as he starts meeting new women and "closing the deal" so to speak. Everything changes, though, when he meets Jessica Goodwin. He falls head-over-heels in love with her & so wants to suspend his contract with the Agency, but that's against the Agency's rules. What happens next will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat!
It was hard to put the book down as Eddie holds fast to his love for Jessica and risks everything to keep her. He is challenged by corporate greed, secret networks, and pure evil. Pick up this book & you'll be engrossed in the story too!
I agree with other readers, this would make an exciting movie. I can almost imagine Matt Damon as Eddie, Zac Efron as Dave, and Jessica Alba as Jessica. Who would you choose?
Eddie is a nerdy research analyst who doesn't have a lot of luck with the ladies. While looking at dating services online, he comes across The Reynard Agency; a different kind of dating service! Eddie is in for a big surprise once he joins the dating service. He never expected to fall head over heels and he never expected the violence that would follow as he tries to hold on to his girl.
I was very pleasantly surprised with this book! It took me a little while to really get into it but then I was taken away with the action!! A very different storyline than anything I have read before. I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to anything else M.L. Caggiano writes!
LOVED IT! The AGENCY is worthy of a movie deal. I know I'd go and see it! Great, believable characters, especially Dave the office lech! The plot holds the attention and keeps you thinking about it all day and wanting to come back for more. It reminds me of Stephen Kings Quitters inc,but instead of stopping smoking its dating, break the rules and the AGENCY comes after you no holds barred.
THE AGENCY starts out very innocent. Eddie Bartlett is NOT the type of guy that gets a date real easy,as a matter of fact,Eddies a schmuck! Then his life changes when he surfs the net one lonely night. Read THE AGENCY to find out the rest.
I received this book from goodreads in exchange for a review
This book was enjoyable. It offers something a little different than what one is typically used to but is a welcome change of pace, with a good plot and good characters.
I need to preface any review by first saying that I greatly enjoyed this book.
It is immediately clear that the author put a great deal of time, research and consideration into building this project.
That being said. I must comment that I find that there were things not included that in my estimation needed to be there. There were sentences that suffered fromllack of words. There was a scene where the male MC reads a listing of the female MCs work history (for lack of a better term) and seemingly didn't notice the name that was repeated. We spent a great deal of time on the female MCs trauma, while never explaining it fully (this however may have been intentional on the author's part as it forced readers to consider what they would) The male MC was tracked to the house of a hacker and nothing ever came of it on the part of the antagonist.
There were things that were stated that in my estimation need not have been. Sentences that contained unneeded words. The scene involving the garbage collector was wholly unnecessary and stole from the tension of the story. I personally could have dealt with a great deal less crying (I did not see that it was called for a great deal of the time). There was a death scene that I found to be way too technical. Someone is dying. I didn't need to read the autopsy at the moment of death.
These are easily dealt with and did not take from the enjoyment of the story. It had some twists and turns that were simply delightful.
I only regret that I have had this book for six years and only finished it this week
I have to admit this wasn't what I expected. The cover made it look like some kind of near future cyber thriller with the eyes hinting at a touch of horror.
What I got was a pacey thriller with an intriguing premis, mixing romance with quite creepy and manipulative thriller, giving a twist on the evil corporation while delivering a contemporary message about sex trafficking and the nature of male relationships and drives in the modern world.
In summary, entertaining, airport thriller style read with a bit more to it.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is brilliantly thought out and has great character development. For a first time writer, M. L. Caggiano is able to attract the reader from the beginning and keep the dialogue captivating through the end. I think this would make a great movie. :)
