Fury From Hell is a paranormal thriller about good vs. evil. Here, the good is in the form of Detective Jennifer Holden, a homicide cop that is haunted by her own personal demons of a murder she committed when she was just a teenager. The trauma she suffered at the hands of social agency after agency hardened Jennifer into a staunch atheist making her gun and her bank account the only things she truly believes in.
We meet Detective Holden, shortly before she begins working on her first solo murder case. The victim is Kyma Barnes who was brutally raped and killed. As Kyma’s soul leaves her body, a demon being called by a coven of dark witches at nearby Prospect Park, is drawn to the dying woman by her death throes. Fury Abatu offers to avenge Kyma’s death. The price? The dying woman’s soul. Kyma gives it gladly to ensure the man who killed her pays dearly.
At the crime scene, Jennifer becomes possessed by Fury Abatu. Hosts usually die a violent death within weeks of the initial possession. Detective Holden does not know she is possessed…
With her own demise on the line, Jennifer must fight for her life and her very soul – something she’s not sure she even believes in – to rid herself of the dark force surrounding her and her friends.
Can Jennifer be saved from the demon? Will she be able to find the faith to believe in something greater than herself and her material things?
Read this first installment of the From Hell series to find out!
In a battle to save her soul, one hardened detective, a coven of wiccans and a new belief in things not seen will push you fully into the shadows on the dark side of the street, and finding that the suspense is well-worth the danger. Fury from Hell by Rochelle Campbell goes beyond edgy and dark as good vs evil collide head on and the lines become blurred, jagged and twisted in the living nightmare that has become Detective Jennifer Holden’s life. Jennifer is an atheist, because what God could allow the things she has experienced and witnessed? Perfect for the taking, a fury from Hell invades her body and feeds off the control he has over her. Abatu is no fantasy, he is the vilest of demons and what he makes Jennifer do without her knowledge will set off a crime spree that goes beyond heinous. Detective Holden and her team are assigned to stop this monster; unaware that this is no human and that one of the hunters just may also be the prey.
What is happening to Jennifer? Why is she having blackouts, why does she taste blood in her mouth? Meanwhile, Abatu sits back and prepares for his next meal, using Jennifer as his chef, waitress and clean up staff. His new host will not live forever and he must use her to his best advantage. Only the fear of going insane has Jennifer sharing her fears with a fellow officer and best friend, who, besides being full of sass, is a member of a powerful Wiccan group. Is the faith of the wiccans enough to aid Jennifer’s release from her personal Hell? Will their unwaveringly trust in a higher power be the wakeup call in Jennifer’s soul? Will it come in time?
Dark, demonic and completely intriguing, Rochelle Campbells’ Fury from Hell has it all and then some! Good vs Evil, the long arm of the law in action, a masterful mystery and a touch of the gift of faith. Rochelle Campbell doesn’t do pastel plots, she writes in deep, black strokes across a page of gritty sandpaper as she manages to etch her tale into her reader’s memories. Her world feels dark, desperate and oily, thanks to her vivid descriptions and ability to run the tension out at full throttle. Looking for an unredeemable character to despise? Meet Abatu. The rest of the characters? They are unique in their personalities, their opinions and play off Jennifer’s hardened persona with ease. Grab your favorite talisman and join in on this trek through the dark, mysterious and seamy side of life that gives new meaning to the phrase, “the devil made me do it.”
I received this copy from Rochelle Campbell in exchange for my hoenst review.
Fury From Hell by Rochelle Campbell is an excellent paranormal mystery. It is a story of good vs. evil. The good is Detective Jennifer Holden, a homicide detective, haunted by a murder she committed when she was young. After her crime, she is handed from social agency to agency, a product of the machine. Due to this Jennifer becomes an avowed atheist. Her gun and money are her true belief system.
Detective Holden's first case is the violent rape and murder of Kyma Barnes. As Kyma’s soul leaves her body, a demon is called to the death scene,Fury Abatu, offering to avenge Kyma’s death. The price is the dying woman’s soul. At the crime scene, Detective Holden becomes possessed by Fury Abatu. She must fight for her life and her soul.
This is a deep and complex book for a new author. Rochelle Campbell does very well with the complexity of the plot, and with character development. She has talent. I look forward to the next story in this series.
I downloaded a copy of this book via Kindle Unlimited.
A Brilliant success, that is what I would call Rochelle Campbell’s Fury From Hell. Rochelle had made an exciting character in Detective Jennifer Holder. Her past of murder when she was young is an usual past for a detective to have but it adds a sense of intrigue to the story.
My favorite passage in the books was “Jennifer glanced up at him as she took an unsteady long sip of her drink. It took two more sips to tamp down the flames licking at her belly making her want to do things with and to this man she barely knew.” Have you ever felt that way, even once? I am sure we all have. The context of the book guides you seamlessly deep into a paranormal mystery that will keep your courtesy at it’s willing, wanting height until the very end.

Can Jennifer be saved from the demon? Will she be able to find the faith to believe in something greater than herself and her material things? My Review: Fury From Hell is Rochelle Campbell's debut novel and features quite a decent storyline. I'm a fan of supernatural books and tv, so Fury fits with my preferred genres.
As is sometimes the case with self-published titles, there were numerous grammatical and other mistakes which I personally find rather get in the way of my enjoyment of the story. I completely understand that not everyone can afford to hire a professional proofreader and/or editor, but most of us will know someone who could give it a critical eye.
I liked Jennifer and Betty, found them to be likeable and believable - to a point - this is a fantasy book, after all! Their relationship was interesting, particularly in the last half of the book.
Although I did enjoy most aspects of this book, I felt there were a lot of unnecessary scenes that seemed to be padding. They didn't add anything to the story and could have been omitted. Having said that, the end felt a little too rushed.

About the Author:
The main thing about me? I've been writing since I was 12. The first complete story (including obligatory bad plotting) was in the 5th grade. A superhero with a gynormous head and a penchant for cursing up a blue streak (sorta like Will Smith's Hancock...) saves the day by melting glass when all of city's water was stolen by 'the bad guy'. [Uh-huh. Steven Spielberg watch out.]Yet somehow, my teacher Mr. Lustbader, felt I had talent. Now, innumerable years later, I am still putting pen to page and fingers to keyboard. As many writers do, I started off with short stories and have now moved into novels. My first novel, "Fury From Hell" is a paranormal cop thriller set in Brooklyn, NY. Two fast-talking, irreverent cops -- Jennifer Holden and Betty Feinster -- are out saving lives and ridding the streets of Brooklyn from a demonic Fury. This book launches Tues, 9/9/14.Writing makes me feel alive. It allows me to express the crazy side we all have within us. Writing is my way of staying sane. So, for me, writing is a process; not a problem.
Timeline: 10/31-11/1-13 The High Priestess felt the tug from the Otherworld as the Fury (demon) struggled with the Veil. Kyma (f) was going through the witching hour of Saimhain night (High New Year). Police Officer Saks (m, 84th. Precinct) was the 1st. to arrive on the murder sight located at the construction site on Hoyt/State St. Detective Jennifer Holden (NYPD, 84th. Precinct) & Detective Paul Yearwood (NYPD, 84th. Precinct) arrived soon after. There lay Kyma Barnes (25+, hairdresser) remains.
Detective Jennifer Holden went to tell Mrs. Barnes (Kyma’s mother) & Gerald Palmer (Kyma’s B/F) the bad news. Detective Jennifer Holden began her investigation & interviewing. Girl’s night out at Cody’s bar. Detective Jennifer Holden (OCD), Detective Betty Feinster (Jennifer’s BFF, NYPD, 84th. Precinct, aka Mother Hen), & Officer Barbara Babs Strickland (MS Forensics, NYPD, 84th. Precinct) had a great time. Chad Fosdick (bartender) ask Jennifer out on a date.
News flash: Derrick Palmer was brutally murdered and found in a burned up motel room (Brooklyn). Detective Jennifer Holden, Detective Betty Feinster & Detective Paul Yearwood were at the crime scene. Detective Jennifer Holden, & Detective Clift (NYPD, 84th. Precinct) went to interview Chelsea Rennkler. Bad news her father Stagg Rennkler had been murdered.
Will the murder cases be solved?
Who is Fury Abatu?
What about Lady Ariella?
Jägermeister shots (Jäger Bomb Shooter) will kill ya! My BMF just laughed when they had 2 pick me up off the bar floor.

I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.
A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written very bizarre paranormal book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great erotic paranormal movie, or mini TV series. The author left me hanging! There is no doubt in my mind this is a very easy rating of 5 stars.

Reading this book I wanted to know what was going to happen next. My curiosity got the better of me. There were times that I had goose bumps (and I was actually a bit scared to keep reading) and the plots and twists were never expected. I liked that the main character, Jennifer Holden was a relatable character and not someone with no flaws and a “perfect” picture. This book is part of a series and the ending is a real cliff-hanger with many more possibilities that leaves you wondering. What is going to happen next?
I have to be honest and say that the book is focused on a topic that is just a bit too intense for me and something I don’t really have an interest in. I would suggest this book to readers who are really interested in the paranormal and the spiritual realm combined with the suspense and even some horror. What I particularly liked is the descriptive talent of Rochelle to paint the picture for you and the fact that she had different events blending effortlessly into each other.
Rochelle Campbell writes with humor and enthusiasm and Fury From Hell is a very enjoyable read. It is fast paced and leaves you wondering what will happen next as you eagerly turn the page. Lovers of Brooklyn, New York will enjoy the references to places, people and culture. Just the thought of Fury Abatu sends a shiver of fear up my spine. The end did not disappoint! I look forward to Book 2!
An enjoyable read with the main character Detective Jennifer Holden being possessed by a demon from Hell the Fury Abatu.
I won a copy of this on Indie Pride Day 2015 and to be honest I had completely forgotten about it being on my Kindle. The cover did not really appeal at the time. But I am really glad I picked it up again once I started to read I was hooked in.
