Coast to Coast #3

Coastal Commitment

Rate this book
She was the girl he always craved.
He was the guy who would never commit.

Then - Nolan Kelly was the life of every party. The guy who always had a perfectly timed joke and lived life for the thrill of spontaneity. He prided himself on never being tied down and leaving himself open to every possibility. He had everything going for a college football star, an amazing family, and a best friend who always had his back. Until she didn’t. Until she disappeared to New York and turned his entire, ideal life upside down.

Now - Maggie Montgomery was finally living the life she had worked so hard for. She had her dream job, a fiance she adored, and no longer had room in her life for people who didn’t choose her. The problem? One look from Nolan Kelly and she was right back inside of her eighteen-year-old body pining after a man who made it clear he was never going to commit.

Nolan and Maggie had always kept the details of their friendship a secret right up to the moment it blew up in their faces. Now, after years of not speaking to each other, they found themselves in a situation that was all fun and no commitments… But how long would it last until their coast to coast agreement imploded once again?

I’m having a good time with this series.

I feel like I read so much “small town” that this Malibu (& NYC in the book) setting gives me a refresh. 🌊

And with that:
Another Kelly sibling bites the dust.

Nolan & Maggie 💕
Friends to lovers
Commitment phobic
Sisters best friend
Long distance
Friends with benefits

It was fun after the first two books of teasing these two we finally got to know what’s the deal.
This could be read as a stand-alone.
But honestly you’re just gonna want to read those too.
They are relatively quick reads.
I think I’ve read all three now in a day each 🤣

Maggie my girl good on you girl for being a strong FMC

The sibling text chats and banter are 🤣👍

I enjoyed the third installment in the coastal series and would read it again. It was a cute romance with some spice. Definitely an easy read!

I really liked Maggie, the FMC. Her character was a great mix of loyalty/patience AND moving on to bigger & better when necessary. Nolan, the MMC was likable as well. His reasoning/commitment issues were valid.

I received a free copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review! Thank you for the opportunity!

Operation Dumbass Gets the Girl-

This was the most binge-able summer romance - friends to lovers - second chances book I’ve read in some time! 🥹

Maggie & Nolan meet in college on the first day of classes and their worlds collide in ways they never could have expected.

Things I loved about this book,
💚 Sports romance
💚 Friends to lovers
💚 Second Chances
💚 Dual perspective & dual timeline
💚 Heads up (game) references 🤭
💚 Found Family

This is the 3rd book in the Coast to Coast series but can be read as a stand alone! I can’t wait to binge the first two and see where this all started. 🫶🏼

Thank you so much for the eARC @kathryncoinauthor, I absolutely loved this book!

It's honestly been a while since I've binged a book, but I completely devoured this one in less than 24 hours and I LOVED IT. Every time I tried to put this book down to take a break, each chapter had me so curious to continue and see how the story was going to go. Both Nolan and Maggie have my heart and reading their banter and friendship turn into more was definitely a rollercoaster of emotions I was fine going through. For starters, Nolan is SO stubborn with his feelings (for good reason), BUT I loved reading how his feelings changed for Maggie throughout the book. I guess I wouldn't even say that his feelings changed, but more so the fact it was enjoyable to read how much you realize how in denial he is about his feelings towards Maggie and seeing him come to the realization that he does.

And, ugh, my girl Maggie. I honestly felt for her throughout the beginning of the book. But, I will say, her character growth was so well done, and I loved witnessing her realization to what she needed as the book progressed.

I am a bit bias since I am a sucker for the friends to lovers trope, so I completely loved how the author navigated this trope in the book that's different from others I've read. I think what I appreciated most was how the author portrayed both the characters feelings and how messy it can be to navigate going from friends to something more. Reading the two MCs tip toe between that line and finally getting to that point was like. UGH YES! I personally enjoyed the cat and mouse game between the two, and I think it just made it more rewarding to read once you get to the end. Bonus note: I did love the added banter and commentary from Nolan's family. The side characters in the story just added to the storyline so well that I liked getting the glimpses of other family members and what they're up to/scheming.

Thank you to the author for this eARC! I love sharing my thoughts with others, and I hope if you read this book, I could read your thoughts too!

"I didn’t want a relationship, but Maggie had the power to bend me at her will. If she asked, I would consider saying yes to anything she wanted. I would most likely also fuck it up." - Nolan Kelly

Written in an alternate timeline, Coastal Commitment is a romance that examines the themes of love, friendship, and commitment between friends and lovers. This story follows the blossoming of Maggie Montgomery and Nolan Kelly's relationship from a platonic relationship to one that transcends boundaries and becomes more.

I am a first-time reader of Kathryn Coin's books, and after reading the blurb, I instinctively signed up for an advance reading copy. Despite having no introduction to this series.

Nolan and Maggie's remarkable friendship, which was forged over years of shared memories, is so profound and extensive in Coastal Commitment that it stands out from the many romance novels that use the best friends-to-lovers trope. A dual-timeline narrative plot is typically a bit tricky for me. Happily, the novel derives greatly from Kathryn's use of this structure, which shows the gradual onset of Nolan and Maggie's love for one another while upholding their friendship status.

Neither Maggie nor Nolan is unaware of the other's stance on a committed relationship. Maggie is seeking an equal who will not reject her because she cherishes commitment in a relationship. But because he fears being deserted after he has put his heart into a committed relationship, Nolan thinks the contrary. In a nutshell, both characters fear heartbreak and do not wish to jeopardize their friendship. They have a valid reason to be concerned. Regretfully, Nolan has allowed his fears and insecurities to keep him paralyzed instead of being upfront about it. Maggie thus becomes hurt for most of the story.

"Nolan and I didn’t get here easily. I could be mad at him, since this all could have been avoided if he had asked me to stay on graduation night. But at the end of the day, I needed the time in New York. I needed to explore my career and find myself before coming back completely sure of what I wanted." - Maggie Montgomery

Maggie and Nolan's level of friendship captivated me despite the story's drag of their cat-and-mouse play (caused by Nolan's stubbornness). When they eventually crossed that friendship threshold and had that "f*ck it" moment to hook up, it was even more phenomenal! Ah, that explosive chemistry was all worth it.

Alongside Maggie's strong and sassy character and Nolan's laid-back yet protective persona, the plot also features some levity from their friends and family. With their witty banter from the group chat and the ties that have moulded them into a close-knit unit, I was delighted to get to know the dynamic of the Kelly siblings. I became curious and wanted to read the first two volumes in the series as a result.

In conclusion, readers of lighthearted, friend-to-lovers romance will find Coastal Commitment to be an enjoyable and comforting read. The story demonstrates how falling in love with your best friend is a tightrope walk between hope and uncertainty, as well as love and fear. Even while it is risky, there is something unquestionably unique about it. Love is, after all, best shared with those who know us the best, and who could be a better friend than your best friend?

I voluntarily read an Advance Reader Copy and am sharing my honest review based on my personal experience. Thank you to Kathryn for trusting me to read this book in advance.

Kathryn Coin 𝘯𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘦𝘥 the friends-to-lovers trope with a story that delivers all the butterflies and slow-burn tension your heart can handle. Nolan & Maggie’s story (book #3 in the Coast to Coast series) is an absolute standout - and while you 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 read this as a standalone, do yourself a favor and start with books 1 & 2. Trust me, they’re 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘪𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳.

Nolan and Maggie’s friendship was pure magic. Kathryn showcased their age and journey so beautifully—it never felt immature but instead captured all the growth, longing, and sweetness of their bond. Add in the dual POV and timelines (executed 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘭𝘺, by the way), and I was hooked from start to finish.

What I 𝘸𝘢𝘴𝘯’𝘵 prepared for? Falling head-over-heels for Nolan Kelly. 🥵 He’s the life of the party, a lovable playboy with zero filter and endless charm - but when it comes to Maggie Montgomery? He’s 𝘨𝘰𝘭𝘥𝘦𝘯 𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘺 through and through. Maggie, the fierce, authentic, determined girl everyone gravitates to, completely stole his heart. And when all that slow-burn angst 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 explodes? Nolan delivers one of the most iconic “fuck it” moments I’ve ever read (my stomach 𝘥𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘥 in the best way possible). It’s no wonder Maggie always hoped Nolan would be the one.

Watching them “keep it casual” was hilarious - especially since everyone 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 could see how not-casual this was. Cue the side comments and deadpan one-liners from the Kelly family that had me laughing out loud.

Kathryn Coin is 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘦𝘥, and I know her words are going to take the romance world by storm. Oh, and that teaser for book 4? 👀👀 Did she just tell us to dust off our cowboy boots?! Eeeeek!! 🤠

Thank you, Kathryn Coin, for trusting me with this ARC - I hope you don’t mind scoring yourself a lifelong fan. 💋

Oh my freaking goodness this book it broke me and put me back together this is my first book from this author and it did not disappointed, these two are situationship final boss, I love them so much

“ɴᴏʟᴀɴ ᴀɴᴅ ɪ ᴡᴇʀᴇ ᴀʟᴡᴀʏꜱ ᴍᴇᴀɴᴛ ᴛᴏ ʙᴇ. ɪ ᴡᴀꜱ ᴊᴜꜱᴛ ʜᴀᴘᴘʏ ʜᴇ ꜰɪɴᴀʟʟʏ ꜱᴀᴡ ᴛʜᴀᴛ ᴛᴏᴏ.“

This book was had me going through it even from the first chapter, especially Nolan’s reaction to Maggie’s engagement I was hooked from there, this book had me crashing out I just wanted them TOGETHERRRRR

Nolan and Maggie has been bestfriends for years but never anything more because of Nolan’s commitment issues, the slow burning was slowingggggg

They clearly belong together they know it, everyone KNOWS IT and then they agreed to be friends with benefits because Maggie just ended her engagement and wasn’t ready for a relationship yet, these two are everything about to me

The angst in this book omggg and the back and forth, watching them go to friends to something more was not easy because they both wanted something more but Nolan afraid of committing

I will definitely go back to read the first two books before the next one comes out because I’m loving this series and found family in it, it was just amazing

This book will have you going through it but it will definitely be alright in the end!

Thank you Kathryn for giving me this arc it was amazing <3

3.5-4 Stars- I really enjoy the authors writing style but, for some reason I just can't bring myself to leave a higher rating then this. by no means was this a bad book.. I was really looking forward to Nolans book and, the tension between him and Rox had been building up since book one., I think there was so much tension, that these characters held too much pressure to truly fulfill their shoes. I feel like these characters could have had more potential but the build up almost lost a bit of the spark

other then that the story was amazing and, the writing style was really good. they were really hot and cold, the entire book which gives you back lash but, the way he was instantly protective over her was so heartwarming. I felt as if the scene with Derek when he apologizes was more for fluff then anything, it was kind of meaningless but glad he did say sorry at the same time.

Maggie is a fun character- she has insecurities that are portrayed appropriately and, give light to people who fight being insecure on the daily. I felt as if with all of them getting older that, they shouldn't be going to the bars and partying as much with them getting more 'mature'.
all in all I do love their connection and, love how well they understood one another. I am really looking forward too Ryleighs book as I have some predictions I hope can come true!

OH MY GODD!!!🤩

I’m so freaking happy to have received an Arc because this book was everything!!!

First of all, I am obsessed with the Kelly siblings!! Like they have this dynamic that I love and look forward too!! I wanna be apart of their squad!!

But getting to the point, both Maggie and Nolan have been best friends since their first day of college and have been inseparable!! Their bond is something sacred to them but after one falls for the other first, things changed. And overtime, they chose to continue to see each other, then they have this arrangement and then everything comes tumbling down until Nolan finally decides to put his big boy pants on and makes the final move!!

Honestly Nolan, you needed some common sense in every way!! And Maggie, she knows what she wants and went for it!

Also, side note, I never liked Derrick!! Eww!!

I’m so happy they got their ending!! These two were so fun to read and the dual timelines was everything!! I already miss them!!😭💗

MY FAVORITE AUTHOR DOES IT AGAIN !!!!
I am always excited to find out she's releasing a new book This woman is a freaking workhorse with the way she's publishing new books multiple times a year, okay Taylor Swift. I enjoy how throughout this series The love interests are lightly hinted at and that is the books go on you actually get a more in-depth background from all the characters even of the previous books. wish I feel like some romance book trilogies completely forget that we fell in love with the other couples and want to know what they're doing. as we got to the end of the book I was thinking to myself he just needs to propose He's wondering how do I commit to her and let her know that I'm serious about how I feel about her and I'm like bro propose and then he fucking proposes!!!!

I'm also interested to see us dive into the other Kelly siblings that we haven't had all that much interaction with before I have a sneaking suspicion that rye will get with that baseball man that Nolan is friends with but that's just a hunch.
I'm excited for the next two books she has coming out one in October and one in November?!!

Wow!! I was lucky enough to get an ARC copy for this book and it did not disappoint!

Maggie and Nolan’s story was the one I was most excited for, my favourite Costal story so far!

I went through all the emotions of this, and it reminded me a lot of my teenage years; friendship losses, young relationships and found family.
The family group chats? Iconic. I live for them.

The “immaturity” of Nolan reminded me of some of my friends who couldn’t commit to plans, let alone 1 girl.
Maggie reminded me a lot of myself, leaving your hometown is hard and sad, but sometimes we have to do hard things that make us better people.

I loved Maggie and Nolan’s chemistry so much - sometimes people are just made for each other!

Overall, I loved this book and will add to my list of 5 star re-reads. Thank you to Kat for giving me the opportunity to read this before it is released!

I Got This Book As An ARC Reader And Promised To Give My Whole Truthful Opinion. Thanks So Much To Kathryn For This Opportunity💞

Tropes:

Slow Burn
Sibling's Bestfriend
(somewhat) Strong Female Main Character

This book was definitely interesting to me. I kept in mind that this was my first book coming into the Coast to Coast series so I was not too familiar with any of these characters (which in retrospect made me not connect with rhe characters as much) the author still did a great job allowing you to still feel like you know what's going on and connect woth the characters even if it's your first book in the series. One thing I was not the greatest fan about was rhe constant running in circles Nolan and Maggie did, the same things and feelings were repeated over and over, the same phrase or things were said by each character multiple times and at point I felt like their arrangement did more harm than good for them. But it all worked out in the end! Nolan seemed to me to be a bit self centered sounding at times and Maggie whenever she would self deprecated herself me me just want to either give hear a hug or be like... girl really? Not again. But as someone who has somewhat experienced the same thing I can relate. The writing style of this book definitely took me a little to get into and I can definitely see how others can eat this up. All in all, I definitely think everyone should give this book a read because it does go down very smoothly if these tropesare what you like. My rating could go up once I read the other books and connect with the other characters. I will keep it updated 🫡

In the slowest burn humanly possible, Nolan and Maggie made their way to the top of my friends to lovers couple lost. That list doesn’t actually exist, but it sounds good right?

Honestly though, WOW. Nolan is probably now a top tier book boyfriend. And i have several. He’s the life of the party with a no-effs-given attitude, but Maggie turns him into a golden retriever with eyes for her only.

Their “let’s keep it casual” wasn’t ideal, since they were both obviously blind to what everyone else could see, but dang. Yes please. I thoroughly enjoyed this and can’t wait to see what happens next!

Nolan and Maggie met on the first day of college. Their friendship grows and struggles throughout the years. Will they be able to make a commitment and face how they really feel?

I thought this was good, but I liked the second book better. The flashbacks made it kind of tricky to keep the timeline straight in the first half of the book. I enjoyed the second half a lot more. Nolan and Maggie were cute together once they started listening to their true feelings. I wanted to smack Nolan for the majority of the book, but he finally got his life together. The spice was fine.

The side characters were fun and this is an interesting family to be a part of. It was the third of a series that already has a fourth planned and probably more to go along with the other siblings in the family.

3.5 STARS. Loved the instant connection between Nolan and Maggie and the magnetic pull they had towards each other. They were meant to be together, but they weren't going to make it easy for either of them. The highs and lows in their relationship had you hooked from the beginning and rooting for them instantly (all though I did want to shake them both to wake up and see what was right in front of them). The whole Kelly Family dynamic and banter was amazing and hilarious and had you wanting to be one of them. I read this as a stand-alone but it instantly had me purchasing the rest of the series to get as much of the Kelly's as possible.

✨ ARC Review: Coastal Commitment ✨

I gave Coastal Commitment 5/5 stars because it’s another amazing book from a great author!

I was so happy to finally learn Nolan and Maggie’s story after getting to know them in the previous two books. You can truly see the author growing with each book she writes — she’s so good!

This story had me hooked once again, and I’m completely obsessed. Can I get book 4 like… right now, please?! 😍

Highly recommend this series if you love heartfelt romance, great character development, and stories that keep you turning the pages.

Solid 3.5⭐️. This book is part of a series, but can be read as a standalone! I really enjoyed the storyline of this story, the back and forth in the beginning is a little much but also feels necessary so you know the background you need to between the two MC’s. The writing style wasn’t exactly my cup of tea, I struggled a bit through the first half of the book but really enjoyed the second half. Spicy scenes are also there but very minimal. Although it wasn’t my favorite, I did enjoy reading and getting to know both characters!

Oh man! The angst and slow build of this one!!! It was so worth the wait, but I wanted to scream at Nolan (and sometimes Maggie) every step of the way!! Such a great third book in this series!! Who doesn’t love a friends to enemies to lovers trope!? This book made me tear up more than a few times, but I am so happy with the ending!!! Now on to the next sibling!!! I love interconnected series, especially sibling series, where you get to see every couple past the pages of their own books. I love the Kelly family banter in this one as usual and I am dead set on Ryleigh being with Mason (and MJ)! No other alternative in my mind!!! 😉 Can’t wait to hopefully see them more in the next book and to figure out Owen’s story!! Thank you to the author for another great arc book!!
