In Lavinia Kent’s luscious historical romance, a free spirit learns her true desires from a master of the heart, of the body—and of the sweetest discipline.

Lady Bliss Danser, daughter of the Duke of Mirth, is a scandal waiting to erupt. Which is why her highly conventional brother wants to saddle her with Stephan Perth, Earl of Duldon, the only man he thinks will marry her. Worse, Stephan keeps threatening to punish her, to teach her just how a woman should behave. His words may cause Bliss to tingle in the strangest places, but that doesn’t mean she likes the man himself.

Stephan has secretly desired Bliss for years, but he knows how close he is to losing his beloved. Careful not to rile her impetuous heart, he promises only to aid Bliss in her search for another fiancé. And if she’s determined to understand the male body first, he’s happy to comply in that regard as well. However, she must follow his rules or face the consequences. Slowly he takes Bliss to the darker, steamier side of his world . . . where she realizes that Stephan is everything she’s ever wanted.

Bound by Bliss is intended for mature audiences.

I live in Washington, DC with my husband, kids, two cats and a changing menagerie of other small beasts.

I worked in both the arts and in the business world before giving into my love of story telling after the birth of my oldest -- although it wasn't until after the birth of my youngest when I suddenly had full-time childcare that it all came together for me.

I love discussing books -- almost any books at any time.

One of my great joys is having my children get old enough that we can all read the same things and talk. I am so happy that YA is the flourishing world that it is.

And of course I love Romance. I started back with Kathleen Woodiwiss and Johanna Lindsay and have never given them up since -- although there were a few slow spots along the way.

And again I say ...... hooraaaaayyyyyy for Historical smuttiness ! LOL

Lavinia Kent managed to tell us a funny, loving tale of romance and HEA along side a hugely erotic and kinky tale!

This is the story of Bliss Danser, Lady by day, kinky sex-kitten by night (lol) and Stephan Perth, Gentleman by day and kinky dominant by night. Put them together and you have absolute perfection !

Sounds too easy, right? Maaaaaybe ..... you see, Lady Bliss doesn't exactly want to be married. She wants to be free of the constraints marriage brings. And if she DOES have to marry, it most certainly will NOT be to Stephen Perth! Why you ask? I'll say this and only this .... Because she knows he's the only man capable of breaking down her resolve and she just might fall in love! But Stephen has other plans. He's waited what seems like a lifetime for Bliss. And nothing is stopping him from having her. And as soon as Stephen figured out the other side to Bliss .... that was all the ammunition he needed to force her hand and show her love and marriage weren't the devil!

I had a really good time reading this story! Truth be told, this whole series has been fun for me. The story is light and easy and fun to read. The characters are witty and fun and it's HOT!

3.5 Stars

I have a love-hate relationship with this series. I will begin the book, loving it. It’s fresh. The characters are fun yet deep. The storyline is engrossing. I enjoy the author’s voice and the storytelling.

This same phenomenon occurred when I read the first book in this series, to the point that I was nervous to begin this book, in fear it would happen again.

While reading the beginning of the book, I think to myself that I’ll be handing out a rare 5 star review. The book is so original, and I’m riveted to the point of snapping at people when they interrupt my reading time. But something always happens around the 30% mark of the book, where it begins to drag because of repetition and inner monologue. By the time I reach the 50% mark, my emotions sour and I feel bewildered.

It’s very rarely I wish a book was shorter. I know that sounds insane. Who would wish a book to be a novella when you want to get your money’s worth? But with this type of storyline, where it takes ages to get to the foregone conclusion…

A story I was thrilled to read becomes tedious. I love Historical Romance because you are given a pair of characters, and the reader is taken on a journey to their Happily Ever After. But for the same reason I find a comfort in it, if not done with a level of angst or twists and turns, it becomes predicable. Especially when the angst is misunderstandings or just bull-headedness. The Hero knew they were going to end up together. The reader knew they were going to end up together. But the heroine doth protest to the point of irritation, where I lost interest.

I also had a love/hate relationship with our heroine, while I felt the hero was too perfect- too understanding –too amazingly patient for a dominant. What I loved about our hero, his actions and words were consistent. If he said he was going to do something, he did it. His emotions mirrored this, yet the heroine never believed him. Bliss would go from insecure to arrogant in a heartbeat. She would do and say things to the Hero with no consideration to his feelings, which takes away from the reader believing there is love present.

I don’t want to marry you, even though we both know I will, and that we’re both in love with each other. But I’m going to smear it in your face, and tell you I want to marry someone else- kiss someone else. I’m a grown woman acting like a thoughtless child.

I’m not the hero, but that got old- fast –and I’m just the reader. I felt as if the entire time as the heroine waffled back and forth between ‘showing’ the hero she wanted him, while ‘telling’ him she didn’t, that it was disrespectful. As a dominant, to be disrespected and to put up with it, is to relinquish your power. The longer the hero put up with the heroine’s BS, the less respect I had for him.

In book 1, I didn’t think I could stand being inside Bliss’s head for a nanosecond. I felt her a spoiled, selfish, thoughtless brat with no redeeming qualities, and I feared I wouldn’t be able to read with her as the narrator.
I give mad props to the author for redeeming Bliss. From page one, I’d forgotten that *expletive*. Bliss was strong. A grown woman who wanted to break free from societal chains. Her first trip to Ruby’s was one of my favorite scenes of the entire book, and I wish the pacing and flow would have continued on as the book went. That scene showed a plethora of emotions through a peephole, because our heroine was ‘feeling’ and describing, and our hero was supporting. If the author could have captured that and had it bleed over into the rest of the book, I would have been blown away. Proving page count doesn’t matter. A shorter book that is unforgettable, is more entertaining than a long book with unforgettable scenes and too much of everything else.

I only enjoyed Bliss when she wasn’t thinking or speaking- in those times, that vapid character from the first book returned, not someone who was our heroine. I preferred our woman of action. When Bliss owned what she wanted, when she allowed herself to feel empowered, I fell back in love with her character…

But there was a problem with that, as Bliss was forever thinking, rambling, or speaking.

On multiple occasions during the same scene, the Hero continually commented on the heroine’s lack of focus, how her mind wandered, and how she rambled. He went as far as to chastise her for thinking in the middle of ‘playing’. In the beginning this was endearing, amusing even. But not during sex scenes.

This was a point of contention for me, as I felt a bit like the Hero myself. It was in moments like these that I became bored, and felt guilty because the need to skim was upon me. While inner monologue gives a reader great insight to character development, too much can be detrimental to the story itself. If the reader is driven to skim the book, they aren’t reading it, so how are they connecting with the character’s private thoughts? When too much, it becomes background noise, never digested and comprehended.

The reader is deep into a great scene, only to be thrust out with endless rumination. The Hero would ask the heroine a question, only for it to be several pages later before she would answer- her mind wandering for pages on end, usually to the same location it had flowed on the page before- the chapter before.

By the time the heroine finally answered our Hero, there was a good chance the reader forgot the initial question. I should point out, these questions were of a sexual nature. So in the middle of being hot and bothered, the reader is subjected to the heroine’s insecure thought process, memories of childhood, where she shored up her nerve with a rehash of how the heroine felt in a previous scene- a scene we already read in great detail. This fizzled the heat level for me because it tore me from the story.

I apologize for my harshness. There is only one thing that brings enough passion out of me to write a review such as this, and that is that I care. I actually feel a bond with the author, with the story, with the characters.

In truth, I loved the author’s voice and writing style. I loved how the characters could be witty and charming, how humor was brought in without being over the top. I enjoyed the tender yet never too sweet moments. As a writer of BDSM in contemporary times, I felt the power exchange and the needs and wants of what the lifestyle entails were perfectly portrayed, especially emotionally. I thought the sex was hot and naughty, and yanked the reader right in as if they were the one being pleasured.

So why my critical review? Because I want to read the 3rd book in this series, and I want to enjoy it without it going down a similar path as its predecessors. No, my opinion isn’t the only one that matters, but a review is just that- opinion.

Genre: Historical Romance | BDSM
Historical Authenticity: accurate
Heat Level: Smoking HOT
Would I recommend this series/book/author: Yes, if what I listed above in the review isn’t on your pet peeve list.
Will I read more from this author: one more try. I think the author is fabulous, but perhaps I’m not meant to be one of her readers, as it just isn’t to my reading tastes.

Thank you to LOVESWEPT and Netgalley for providing a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

After loving the first book in this series, Mastering the Marquess, I had high hopes for Bound by Bliss. Unfortunately, this one wasn’t quite what I’d hoped for.

I liked Bliss and Stephan well enough. While Bliss was naïve and didn’t make the best choices, she was wily and liked to have fun. Stephan was a decent man, and I liked that he helped Bliss explore her sensual side, discovering desires she wasn’t even aware she had. But this book was lacking for me as far as plot goes. I am always loathe to say this when I read a book that’s labeled as erotic fiction, but this book just had too much sex stuff in it. And by stuff I mean voyeurism and teasing and other things that lead up to but don’t include intercourse.

The reason I say that is because, according to Bliss’s thoughts, she and Stephan have quite a history. Because it’s so important to her and she reflects on the fact that they had a past (but not the actual happenings) quite often, it would lead the reader to believe there were many pivotal events over the course of her life that included Stephan. If there were, we didn’t read about them. I’m all for sex and sexy times in the story, but not at the expense of plot. I think whatever Bliss and Stephan had been through would have gone a long way in solidifying their feelings for each other now, in the time this story was taking place. There’s no denying they are attracted to each other sexually (and make no mistake, these sex scenes were hot hot hot), but I didn’t really feel the love connection that should have been established throughout the story. Not exploring their past was a huge missed opportunity, and I think the story suffered for that. The pacing felt off to me, because I kept waiting for something to happen that would show me why Bliss and Stephan were falling in love. It never came, and for me, that meant the story never gained momentum.

Despite my issues with this book, I’m not ready to give up on this series just yet. As I said, I really enjoyed Mastering the Marquess, and the third installment will be Ruby’s. She is by far my favorite character in these books, and I want to see what this author has up her sleeve for my favorite madam! If you’re a lover of erotic fiction and don’t mind a plot that serves as backdrop instead of taking center stage, you may enjoy this book. It just wasn’t for me.

Stephen that boy gets offended if you call his 'member' the wrong name, "please don't call it a male member. I find my own feels quite insulted by the term - a c***, a d***, even a pr***, a Johnson, a pe****, or a John Thomas is far better than a male member. I'd rather you call it pego then a member." He is always in control in the bedroom, "enough," he commanded. "I am as spent as I've ever been and you have me growing hard again." I liked this book Stephen had to work for his woman and I liked that.

" I received a copy of this book for free to read and review for Wicked Reads"

This is the third in this series, and just as enjoyable as the previous two - if not even better. Possibly that is the case as I knew what and who to expect, and why. If I ever get to travel back in fictional time, Ruby is high on my list of people I'd like to meet. She doesn't play a huge role here, but continues to be such a great character. If you have not read the others yet then may I recommend that you do.

I still have visions of Louisa on her first visit to Madame Rouge - and laugh at the memory - so the fact that Bliss was also so innocent was not a surprise. The way that she gained her knowledge, and had revelations about romance in general was both funny and also hot. He was no dull don in the bedroom for sure!

At points I felt that the story could have moved along somewhat more quickly, and that I didn't need the issue reinforced again. However it is well written and certainly no hardship to read. I would maybe have liked more about Bliss's current family situation, given that her brother is now married etc. but her feelings were well explained.

I'm hoping that there is more to come, as I am very fond of the gang, and that letter from Manchester gave me some hope for Ruby too!

Wow, Bound by Bliss by Lavinia Kent is as good as Mastering the Marquess and Revealing Ruby. Lavinia Kent has now risen to one of my absolute favorite authors! Bliss doesn't want to marry Stephan, Lord Duldon, she really doesn't want to marry anyone at all. She has decided if she has to marry it will be to a man who won't stifle her spirit and to a man that she isn't in danger of falling in love with.
Stephan has waited a number of years for Bliss to grow up and be ready to marry him. Stephan likes control in the bedchamber, but he isn't sure he will reveal that part of himself to Bliss. After learning that Bliss has seen a naughty encounter at a party, he begins to believe that Bliss may be the woman to fulfill all of his fantasies and desires.
This book while being extremely hot, was romantic and loving. I really enjoyed reading Bliss and Stephan's story. I can't wait to read another sizzling romance by Lavinia Kent and this one is highly recommended.

I love those historical BDSM stories. Stephan and Bliss are a great match even if it takes them a bit to find their way to eachother. I love their adventures and open nature as in its time was something of a rarity. The personalities were great. Relatable, likeable, and complex. I enjoyed watching them fall in love. Can't wait for the next installment!

I was was excited to read this book after I finished the first one in the series that I actually liked. The beginning was pretty good but I found Bilss to be kind of unlikeable and spoiled. Her indecision lasted way too long like even at the end when they were married she was still wanting to back out and run away. One night was a big chunk of the book and it became really boring and repetitive, super drawn out. I also did not like the part where she got captured by the other lord and she played along with him like nothing, it felt inconsistent for me and kind of gross. Overall I felt myself skimming towards the end just to finish it and did not really enjoy it.

Incredibly sexy read!

‘Bound by Bliss,’ is book two, in the Bound and Determined series. It was an incredibly revealing, sensual and passionate read! Bliss, trying to escape marriage to Stephen, the Earl of Duldon, seeks to find another, manageable, suitor. It quickly motivates Stephen to take matters and Bliss, into his own hands... which proves to be a wickedly pleasurable experience.

È che ci tiene questa duchessa, molto curiosa e intraprendente per una signora dell' alta società . La sua curiosità la porterà nella casa di Madame Rouge. Menomale che ci sta Stephen a metterla in riga e domarla. Anche questo consigliatissimo

I loved this book! It wasn't just a short, throwaway story. It had real people, with real fears, who worked through problems and came together. It was also very steamy, with elements of D/S, so remember that if you decide to read it, but I highly recommend that you do!

This review was originally posted on my blog: jlscaife.wordpress.com.

Bound by Bliss is the third installment and second full novel in Lavinia Kent’s intensely erotic historical BSDM series that started with Mastering the Marquess. Lady Bliss Danser would prefer to never marry and avoid the pain caused by love. When her brother Swanston (the Marquess from the first novel) demands she find a husband by summer’s end or marry his friend, Lord Duldon, Bliss goes into a tailspin. Duldon sparks dangerous sensations and feelings in her, and she can’t let go of a misunderstanding in their past. Stephan, Lord Duldon, on the other hand, has longed for Bliss for years, but fears his darker sexual urges could destroy any connection between them. However, when the innocent but headstrong Danser asks for his help in finding a safe fiance, Duldon is happy to oblige; if he stays close, there’s a chance to turn Bliss’ heart towards him…and her reaction to his orders hints at a darker side to her own sexual desires.

Bliss is a much more conventional historical heroine than either Louisa from Mastering the Marquess or Ruby from Revealing Ruby in that she is young, never married, and inexperienced. However, as a member of the Danser clan, she definitely not a traditional young lady (her father has an obssession with breeding llamas…). In the previous novel she gets drawn into the predatory Countess Ormande’s circle, and while Bliss was not ruined, this precipitates Swanston’s sudden insistence on marrying his headstrong younger sister off before the younger Danser girls follow in her path. As a result of Bliss’inexperience the story is more about a young woman’s sexual awakening than a tale of consent, but the heat and passion of Kent’s previous works continues, creating an erotic tale that is more The Story of O than The Awakening.

I initially struggled with Stephan, Lord Duldon as a hero because his attitude of knowing Bliss better than she knew herself felt like straight up alpha male jerk territory. As the plot unwound I realized that Stephan has watched Bliss grow from childhood, so he wasn’t just assuming that he understood aspects of her personality. His presumed ownership of Bliss rankled a little, but the young lady did ask him to marry her at the tender age of twelve! Also, I believe that if Stephan truly thought that Bliss loved someone else he would stop his pursuit of her and allow her to simply be happy. His single minded behaviour stems from the hope that pushing the matter will force Bliss to examine her feelings instead of constantly running from them.

Now to the bits everyone is reading this review to learn about: the erotica! Because Stephan and Bliss are dancing around a relationship initially the sex scenes are a slow burn, rather than leading the the novel as in Mastering the Marquess. Bliss has no concept of how exactly sex works or that it can be pleasurable because, as an upper class woman, she has been protected from any hint of sexuality (she wasn’t even allowed to see horses mating because it was unseemly). Stephan analyzes her reactions, touches her, allows her to watch at Madame Rouge’s, and calculates what arouses her, finally bringing Bliss to orgasm with measured skill. For readers unfamiliar with various kink practices Bliss may be an easy heroine to identify with as she learns about the spectrum of sexual acts through Duldon’s tutelage which culminates in an intense, passionate, and soul bearing night. As in the previous works the women have agency in their sexual encounters, and Stephan carefully lays out the rules and safe guards, only asking that she think about whether a certain practice is merely uncomfortable or truly repellent before asking him to stop. The true power is in her hands, which is part of why I love Kent’s work: she understands that kinky sex should not be abusive, coercive, or frightening but rather safe, sane, and consensual.

Ultimately, I didn’t love Bound by Bliss as much as Mastering the Marquess, but it’s still a wonderful addition to the world of kinky erotica. If you enjoyed Kent’s other works, would love to read BDSM stories that don’t make your skin crawl, or just like really sensual historical sex Bound by Bliss should be on your reading list.

Lady Bliss Danser is a curious young thing. Well not really so young, she's twenty two but oh so innocent. Her parents even kept her locked up when the stallions were in heat. Bliss was happy to be free of men, until her brother Geoffrey, the Marquess of Swanston (The subject of Mastering the Marquess, Book One of the Bound and Determined series), decided it was time she get married. So now she has until the end of the season to find a malleable husband who will let her continue to do as she pleases or be forced to marry her neighbor, Stephan Andrew James Perth, Earl of Duldon.

It's not that Bliss isn't attracted to the man, but he is so domineering. They had been playmates as children despite their eight year age difference. She had even proposed to him once, as he carelessly reminds her, when she was twelve. Yet still she resists, there was that time he had inadvertently hurt her and now she is ready to return the favor.

However, despite her doubts, Lord Duldon is certain that Bliss is the one mate for him. Of course, he will have to leave behind his kinky need for dominating in the bedroom and meting out punishments. This is to be a proper marriage. Yet, it's hard for a leopard to change it's spots. Someone needs to teach Bliss about male/female relationships, and he's the best choice - the only acceptable choice. Plus the object of his desire is so willing to explore her sensual side that he soon finds the line between proper and improper quite fuzzy.

Of course, there are obstacles - Matchmaker Lady Perse, Stephan's aunt, for one. She has made Bliss promise to stay away from her nephew. That means Bliss has only one night to satisfy her curiosity. Then there is Bliss' own personality. She's the one who likes to be in charge. Can Lord Duldon convince her that he's the boss, especially in the bedroom?

The plot is simple, but the majority of Bound by Bliss by Lavinia Kent consists of erotica as the two lovers explore each other's bodies and do everything but consummate the relationship. The inquisitive Bliss has so many questions and Stephan is all too ready to give her the answers. They both agree that the best method is to show, not tell, so the reader should be ready to be titillated as the two "contemplate" their bodies and their reactions to the feelings of touch. Stephan patiently, sometimes to the point of Sainthood, "explains the process" detail by excruciating detail as Bliss explores and searches for the answers to her curiosity.

Their sexual exploits, taking place during the Regency era, are conducted at Madame Rouge's House for Gentlemen of Taste (the subject of the novella, Revealing Ruby). Ruby knows of Lord Duldon's proclivities, but must keep her doubts about his tactics to herself. We get a view of some of the activities found in the hidden chambers of the brothel via a peephole as Bliss begins the learning process. She quickly discovers the feeling of orgasm and the joy that a simple touch can bring between two willing partners.

Fans of erotica will definitely "enjoy" Bliss' education in sensuality and perhaps learn a new technique or two to enhance their own lovemaking. There's not much to the story, but who cares when a book is filled with passionate delights. I wouldn't call this a BDSM novel despite Lord Duldan's need to control the lovemaking and provide a rare punishment. Most of Stephan's focus is on pleasing Bliss which brings them both great sexual satisfaction.

Lavinia Kent is our Queen and we readers are her loyal subjects, waiting for her to deign us with the next novel in the series. Four stars.

The third title, yet second full novel in this series, I’ve not read the earlier books in this unique historic erotic romance series from Lavinia Kent.

In this title, Bliss is the daughter of the Earl of Mirth (Love those titles by the way) and she is an impetuous, somewhat unruly young woman. Her brother fears she is a scandal in waiting, and demands she end her flirtations and marry.

Stephan is the Earl of Duldon, and has carried a flame for Bliss for ages. While he’s more than willing to marry the recalcitrant young woman, he knows that a proposal will send her packing. Instead, he offers to help her find the perfect fiancé, while he hopes his constant attentions will turn her eyes in his direction.

Bliss is wholly reckless and I completely understood her brother’s desire to marry her off: until Stephan and her experimentation with him, she’d never wholly crossed the lines of propriety in terms of the time, but it was close. Very close. She’s determined not to marry, or more succinctly, marry anyone who can give her a challenge, I saw a bit of a ‘novice’ schemer in Bliss, even as I enjoyed her.

Stephan is a dominant, and desires his will be done in the bedroom and elsewhere. His attraction to Bliss starts with him subjugating his nature to not scare her: soon he sees in Bliss the ability and desire for more. She’s intrigued and quickly their pact to find her a husband move them into the bedroom. Still, Bliss is determined not to take their relationship further than dalliances and her sexual edification.

Here is where the book had moments of over-looking a clear push and pull tied to both emotional and sexual desires. Kent went to great lengths to build our understanding and belief in their emotional connection: those passages were unnecessarily wordy and only kept the fairly ridiculous stubborn behavior of Bliss in the forefront. She was submitting in every way possible in the bedroom, she was curious about Stephan’s every move and moment, and she spent long passages thinking over their time and her feelings, convincing herself, not this reader, that she was simply enjoying a dalliance.

Well-crafted and exceedingly hot, the sexual scenes were laden with BDSM and submission, although Stephan’s concern for and willingness to allow Bliss to explore her fantasies, all while gently reminding her that she has choices and he will comply added levels of depth to their interactions. While Stephan is hardly unselfish in his behavior, his careful crafting of a situation that is open and appearing to be under Bliss’ control give her choices not often afforded to women of the time, and opens the door for her to see that marriage to Stephan may NOT be exactly what she expected.

Aside from some over-wordy passages and some repetitive interior monologues, the story is unique, sensual and very sexual, all while holding a connection to the era. While social convention is flaunted, the characters feel real, honest and plausible and kept me interested as I waited for Stephan to get his wish.

I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

I absolutely love reading about this time period and I was looking forward to hearing Bliss' story, the third installment in Lavinia Kent's Bound and Determined series. I knew she had a lot of spunk and determination, mixed with a healthy dose of curiosity, and I knew we would certainly be going on an adventure with her.

Bliss is the younger sister of Geoffrey, the Marquess of Swanston, whom we met in Book One. She wanted to live a real love story, to have utter love and devotion from her husband, but circumstances lead her to change her views. She wanted it all or nothing. Now she resists marriage, not wanting to put her heart in danger of being hurt or betrayed. She is quite happy to live out her days as a spinster, enjoying freedoms that a wife would not have. She knows what is proper, what is expected from a lady of her standing, but that doesn't mean she agrees with the constraints of the time period. She is fiercely independent and I just loved her spark, her zest for life and her curious nature and need to experience as much as she could in her lifetime resonated deeply with me. When her brother issues her with an ultimatum, marry Stephan, the Earl of Duldon, or find her own husband, she embarks a daring journey to find the perfect fiance.

Stephan is in love with Bliss, and has been for years. He also has darker carnal desires than what he thinks his society wife would have, so resigns himself to settling for a wife for appearances and bloodline, while satisfying his needs with trips to Ruby's. When Bliss rejects his proposal and voices her desire to find the perfect fiance, while asking questions about what goes on at Ruby's, he has no choice but to step in to help her with her plan, keeping her safe, while thinking he can win her over while in her company.

I just loved this pair and the daring escapades they went on. Bliss had such a thirst for knowledge and her air of innocence added to the sizzling chemistry between them, their lust for each other was tangible. I loved their banter, their sense of humor, the wonder in Bliss' discoveries and their burgeoning romance was a joy to watch. They suited each other perfectly, and I loved seeing Stephen realise that Bliss may be more perfect for him that he ever imagined. I loved their intimacy, their honesty and openness, their trust in each other. The added excitement when Bliss' curiosity gets her in a sticky situation added excitement and intrigue to the story and I thought it was well played out. At times her inner dialogue was very detailed and slightly drawn out but she is young and I thought it went with her curious personality.

Overall another great addition to the series and I loved the epilogue. I'm really looking forward to the next two installments and hopefully Ruby's HEA. She deserves it.

3.5 out of 5 stars
I very much like the story of this series. Well actually, the story surrounding Madame Rouge’s House for Gentlemen of Taste. It began in book one, Mastering the Marquess, and has continued through Revealing Ruby and into this one. In each story another nugget is divulged about the history of this illustrious establishment and its mysterious proprietress. In Bound by Bliss some more nuggets were revealed which opens up another whole direction this overall story arch can go in. I only hope it doesn’t take too many more books to reveal all and give Ruby the happy ending she deserves. Just my humble opinion.

In the meantime there is the wading through other couples’ stories. Lady Bliss Danser – younger sister of the Marquess of Swanston who was introduced in the book one. (Although in that book she was called Blythe. *sigh*) Stephen Perth, Earl of Duldon is the Marquess’ best friend. Therein lies the conflict of this book. Duldon was the boy next door. Bliss has loved him since she was twelve and he was twenty. Near the end of Mastering the Marquess, Duldon had announced his intentions to Swanston concerning his sister.

I got rather frustrated with Lady Bliss. She was completely innocent and naïve, but insatiably curious. She wanted things her way and saw no reason for otherwise. She was a Danser. They were expected to cause scandal. There were times I just wanted to bop her alongside the head for her stubborn intractability. I am really very surprised she hadn’t been fodder for scandal of some sort already. Maybe she had some reasons for her belief that everyone she loved left, but really. Get over yourself girl.

Duldon – he had a dark side. Duldon was smart enough to know he did need to learn about himself and how to control his urges before he could marry Bliss. But the time has come.

For two hundred and fifty pages Duldon chased after Bliss, using everything in his arsenal to convince her he was the one for her. Some of it was fun and entertaining. Some of it was downright HOT. Some of it just dragged on and on and on and on. The author does have a knack for writing a beautiful love scene, but sometimes she does get a bit carried away with every little detail. I know, what an awful thing to complain about. Unfortunately, after a while, I found myself losing interest. Sadness. But, I stuck it out and made it to the happy ever after, and a rather satisfying one it was.

If you like the pomp and grandeur of an historical novel, you may enjoy this. If you like kinky erotica, you will like this. It reads well as a stand-along novel, but you will miss the ongoing mystery of Madame Rouge’s House for Gentlemen of Taste. That is what keeps me coming back to this series. I look forward to the next chapter.

I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

"A lady was not supposed to want."

THE STORY: Stephan Perth, Lord Duldon has wanted to marry Bliss Danser since she proposed to him at twelve. He has waited years for her, however, because he has dark desires that he wanted to get control of before he married. Now that he has decided to marry her, Bliss doesn't want him. Bliss has a reckless side. She has desires of her own that she doesn't even understand but she knows that she doesn't want to marry Duldon so she only has to the end of the season to find another man to marry or her brother will force her to marry Duldon. Surprisingly, Duldon agrees to help her find what she wants in a husband while introducing her to her own sexuality. While she might not want to marry him, Bliss cannot resist Stephan.

OPINION: This was a very, very hot book. Readers who don't like graphic sex should avoid this, but the sex is definitely in furtherance of the story and not gratuitous. Bliss and Stephan are definitely meant for one another and have a passionate courtship. Bliss is determined to be strong and forge her own destiny. Stephan wants Bliss even when he thinks he will have to subdue his own nature. When he finds out that Bliss might want the same thing he does, he wants her even more. This book has a lot of BDSM involved. My one complaint about the book is that I was annoyed by the determination Bliss has to not marry Stephan and the reasons for it. Considering how much the two engage in sexual relations, it is just difficult for me to buy her reluctance. By the time her reasons are revealed, it just didn't seem significant enough to justify her reluctance. While it reduced my overall enjoyment in a small part, I still really enjoyed their passionate, intense relationship. This book is hot and readers who like that type of book will be happy with this one.

WORTH MENTIONING: I was somewhat distracted during this story by my interest in Ruby who was the subject of the novella REVEALING RUBY that takes place right before this novel. That novella was left on a cliffhanger and there was a small mention that reminded me that I still wanted resolution of Ruby's story.

FINAL DECISION: This book is hot with lots of graphic sexual scenes with an emphasis on BDSM. The romance between the couple stays the focus. The only complaint is that the reason Bliss has for denying Stephan's desire to marry her did not seem sufficient when finally revealed.

CONNECTED BOOKS: BOUND BY BLISS is the second novel in the Bound and Determined series but can be read as a standalone.

STAR RATING: I give this book 4 stars.

NOTE: I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley in order to provide an honest review of the book. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions expressed are my own.

Bliss has known Stephan Perth, Earl of Duldon her entire life and has wanted him for as long as she can remember. But having learned at a young age that we sometimes lose those we love and that trusting others with your heart can leave you vulnerable, Bliss refuses to marry Stephan. As much as she is enticed by the way he watches her and the dark promise in his eyes, Bliss refuses to open herself up to the possibility of loving and losing him.

Stephan has been waiting for Bliss to be ready for him for years. He's always known that she was the wife for him, even if he didn't expect to be able to share his darker, more dominant side with her. The desire is clear in her eyes but she continues to push him away, claiming she wants a marriage with someone she can trust. How better to earn her trust than by helping her explore her sexuality and allowing her to experience all those dark fantasies that have been playing through her mind?

I truly adored both of the main characters! Bliss is a curious and strong woman who has spent her whole childhood being let down by those who she loved and needed most. She struggles with a vein of fear that keeps her from trusting Stephan with her heart. I really connected with her character and loved that the author didn't try to tidily sweep up her worries in one fell swoop. Bliss is a work in progress and her feelings for Stephan and the love and desire he shows her everyday help her overcome her fears bit by bit.

Stephan is an amazingly understanding hero who knows what he wants and is willing to compromise and work with Bliss to get her to a place of acceptance. Though he is a dominant lover and likes to be in control, he constantly reminds Bliss that she always has the power to choose. He gives her a safe environment to explore her fantasies and test her boundaries. His seduction and his control were hot but his understanding and reassurance made him all the hotter.

The chemistry between Stephan and Bliss is amazing. There is such a wealth of eroticism and sensuality in the novel that infuses every touch and every kiss. That slow build, which begins through curiosity and voyeurism grows to an inferno. There were so many diverse and creative sex scenes that really allowed the characters to explore all the stages of their relationship and their desires.

Bound by Bliss is the first novel I've read by Lavinia Kent but I loved the way she wrote her characters and her erotic scenes so much that I can't wait to start in on the rest of the series. If you're looking for a sexy as sin read with a bit of a BDSM bite and a regency setting, then this is the novel for you.

Bound by Bliss is a historical erotic romance which in short means its a BDSM novel set in the age where you wouldn't even know where to look for it. Lavinia Kent is my favorite author when it comes to historical erotica with a BDSM flair. She manages to take you there, stretch the intensity of the moment between two people who appears in public as circumspect but behind the close doors of Madame Rouge's establishment takes the art of sensual erotic torture to new heights. Bound by Bliss is no exception. Bliss Danser wants to experience life to the fullest which she feels she can never have if she marries for love (yes this is quite confusing but the longer you read the more her mindset makes sense). But she has always felt attraction for Stephan, Lord Duldon, her brother's bestfriend. And because of her quirky mindset she feels he would be an unsuitable husband. Stephan on the other hand, is ready to pounce, I mean, ready to acknowledge that Bliss is truly the one for him after all these years. Well he had to get all his unusual urges controlled before he felt he could be a proper husband to her. Little did he know and little did she know that they are definitely perfect for one another, sexual proclivities included. The writing is flawless, especially the sexual scenes between Stephan and Bliss ( AC full on better yet dunk a bucket of snow on yourself while reading). Although the plot is nothing special, two people who are in love with each other but circumstances and misunderstanding gets in the way, the execution of the story was quite well done. Ms. Kent excels in this, the sexual journey for the two main protagonists isn't only in the physical but also in the emotional and psychological level. The BDSM aspect is meant to enhance each characters strong points and not just to titillate the reader and so a greater appreciation is given for each characters development. Bound by Bliss is recommended for readers who like a good BDSM novel in a historical setting.

I have to say I was unsure of this book when I started reading Bound By Bliss, with words like “particular tastes” and “to be a man of uncertain tastes”, I was thinking “what the heck am I reading?” But as the book unfolds, it is such a racy story.
We start the book, with neither of the lead characters! Lady Perse has decided to visit Ruby, aka Madame Rouge (an upper class brothel owner, with a surprising connection to the Lady), to discuss her nephew Stephan Perth, Lord Duldon, and his choice of bride. She asks Ruby to find Duldon a wife.
Stephan Duldon has found the women he wants to marry; he wants Lady Bliss Danser. He wants to be her master, to make her behind red, ultimately he wants her to submit to him (that’s right, only BDSM ladies). But Bliss doesn’t want to marry Dull Don, even though her heart beats only for him…thus begins a cat and mouse game between them, with a few dirty rats thrown in for good measure.
I REALLY enjoyed Bound By Bliss, it is BDSM-lite with one voyeuristic m/m scene, and so if you dislike a gay scene, this might not be the book for you. I have to admit that this is my first every historical BDSM book I have every read. It wasn’t silly or cringe-worthy, but tastefully written, with a solid plot.
I found the characters very fascinating, from Lady Persey to Bliss, you can almost picture them in your mind, like you know then personally. I would have liked to know a little more about Bliss’ family, but I am thinking that that could be in another book.
I will say again, I found the whole book a delightful change and I normally don’t discuss the art work on the covers, but this is one of my favorite covers! It is earthy, classy and sexy all at the same time.
I give Bound By Bliss 9 out of 10.

Bound by Bliss is the second book in the Bound and Determined series by Lavinia Kent and I thought it was ok. I was looking forward to this book since I read the first one, Mastering the Marquess, which I also thought was ok.

The story centers on Lady Bliss Danser (didn't care for the name, by the way) who was given an ultimatum by her brother to wed by summer's end or be forced to marry his friend, Stephan, Earl of Duldon. Naturally, when a lady does not care for the ultimatum and does not like Stephan because she finds herself drawn to him. So what is a girl to do? Tell the Lord that she will NOT marry him and to have him find her another fiance instead! Unknown to her, Stephan has secretly desired her for a long time and decides to aid her in her quest but he also has a different motive. He wants Bliss all to himself.

As with the first book, I was torn about this story. I did not really like Bliss in the first part of the book and Stephan also did not feel as dominating as he was supposed to be. Sure, there was chemistry between the two, but I felt that it wasn't until the book was almost done.

DRI’S REVIEW:

First of all I would like to thank Random House Loveswept and NetGalley for providing us with a copy of this book so that we could bring you this review.

This is going to take me a few minutes to get through, not because it wasn’t a good book, but it was such a great one and I don’t want to give too much of it away.

The one thing I have loved the most about these books by Lavinia Kent is that she transports us back to a time when lady’s were supposed to act like lady’s and men were able to be rouges. But at the same time they do so much great things. I love to immerse myself in the old times with the balls and masquerades, with Dukes and Duchesses… you get the point. So not only do I get to have that, but I also get to have the kink that I so enjoy with these books as well. Now another thing that I truly loved about this book was the fact that Bliss and Stephan, already had strong feelings for each other. Also I enjoyed that she was able to keep most of her secrets and desires to only between her and Stephan. Not that her brother liked that too much, but hey you can’t help who the heart wants. We do get a few glimpses of characters from he previous books so that is an added bonus. Again like I said before I don’t want to give anything away because this book deserves you to dive into yourself and be transported to the past just like I did.

I have this book five very solid kisses.

Happy Reading… Adri

A red hot romance that turned the heat way up, Bound by Bliss was a sweet and spicy historical romance. I liked this book. I thought it was a great romance.

Bliss was a vivacious, determined type of heroine. She would try anything once and that included anything in the bedroom as well. My only issue with her was that her reason for not wanting to marry Stephen was...somewhat ridiculous, considering she held it against him for years. But, other than that, I liked her.

Stephan was great. He was determined to win Bliss and if that meant indulging her curiosity, so much the better for him. But, really, he was sweet and sincere in his love for Bliss and that made him a wonderful hero.

The romance was hot off the charts. There was more than enough to get you fanning for face as the steaminess kept on coming. And, I really thought Bliss and Stephen were a great couple. They were well matched, in bed and out.

The plot moved swiftly and kept me interested all the way through. I liked the story and the ending was great.

Bound by Bliss was a sweet and spicy romance that is sure to turn up the heat. Romance lovers, if you want something hot enough to get you fanning your face, then you'll want to check this book out.
