Shadowblood Souls: The Complete Series

Rate this book
Our souls are bound together. Our powers will tear us apart.

There were six of us. Caged, turned into monsters, and tormented with brutal tests of our dark powers.

We had only each other to count on... until an escape attempt ended with one dead, the others recaptured, and me dragged away into a different nightmare.

When I finally fight my way back, the men I set free are hardened, beastlier versions of the devoted boys I knew. They see me as a traitor and a murderer, but they refuse to let me go.

Even with our former captors hunting us down, they want to make me pay.

But the greatest threat may be the new horror that's woken up inside me...

*Shadowblood Souls is a monstrous urban fantasy series for those who love savagely possessive men and fierce heroines who'll fight for what's theirs. This box set contains all five books in the series—Shattered Vow, Monstrous Power, Captured Fate, Heartless Foe, and Fearsome Dream—as well as a brand-new bonus epilogue.*

#1: Shattered Vow

POV:
You’re a literal, living science experiment and just used as a novelty and for others’ profit but … it still manages to ... GET WORSE?! Howwww… (Read the book to find out!)

I’ve been dying to read this one for ages, solely due to that stunning cover. I went into this completely blind, only knowing that Chase wrote it (and to be fair, she does always deliver) and that I love the cover. It did not steer me wrong.

Has a bit of a confusing start but, not really? If that makes sense… it’s intentionally vague about some things while building some very interesting lore.

Captivity.
F!ght-to-the-d34th scenes.
Betrayals, everywhere.
Self-sacrifice.
Found family.
Reconnections.
Catastrophic trials.

^So much more, was too busy being lost in this world to take notes.
Excellent, instantly needed book 2. Recommended read. 4 stars.

🎧 Audio:
Decent audio with flawless overall sound quality and good narration. 4 stars on this end.

#2: Monstrous Power

SHE’s the monster … but they are too …
And she’s still working on the fallout of all the ways they’ve wronged her.

(Love all the vibes here.)

We get some answers but the kind that lead to more questions—really, you just need to read this series in order, IMO. It’s all more juicy that way.

Shadow magic.
Magical(ish) mate-bonds.
Living science experiments.
Protective men and FMC.
Groveling.
Tentacles!
Protective alphas but … SHE is also very protective her of men.
Angst … so much angst.
Action / fight scenes.
Living on the run / always moving.
Mysteries.
A war is brewing…

Overall, it left me needing more, and it was a fun, wild ride.
Onto book 3.

4 stars.

🎧 Audio:
Decent audio with flawless overall sound quality and good narration. 4 stars on this end.

#3: Captured Fate

POV:
You wake up in restraints, basically mid-war, and everyone you love is … who-knows-where.

This installment brings lots of being on the run, almost non-stop action and scheming and new/old connections and friendships.

This series will likely have a tight hold on you and I recommend just grabbing the omnibus because … well, just save yourself the angst.

Communal living.
Training.
Reunions.
Found family.
Scheming.
Extortion.

The drama is non-stop, there’s lots of action and it’s just plain fun. 4 stars.

#4: Heartless Foe

Another fun installment and in this one I couldn’t help but admire Chase’s skills, as despite all the chaos, scheming, plotting, action, drama, etc. the leads still find time to work on their relationship/s.

Never a dull moment in this series!
The states just got even higher and … don’t have it in me to list all the tropes again.

I was an exciting installment—4 stars.

#5: Fearsome Dream

As I embarked on the final installment of this very fun ride, I found myself glad that first book had caught my attention with that gorgeous cover, as this has been a blast.

This was a fun and necessary installment; Chase manages to advance both the plot and the relationship/s, throw in more mysteries and precarious predicaments, even higher stakes, and eventually pack it all up.

Plus, attempting / plotting, etc. to rescue kids—packs lots of feels and is chock-full of fun scheming.

Overall:
Fun, really nice advancement and wrap-up for this series. Appreciate the inclusion of the bonus epi as well.

4 stars.

🎧 Audio:
Decent audio with flawless overall sound quality and good narration. 4 stars on this end.

Shadowblood Souls: The Complete Series (Shadowblood Souls Series) by Eva Chase

Shadowblood Souls: The Complete Series (Shadowblood Souls Series) by Eva Chase ~~ Going into Shadowblood Souls, I thought I was ready. I was not. This series is dark, brutal at times, emotionally charged, and completely binge-worthy ~ especially in this complete collection where there’s no escape once you’re pulled in.

The story starts with a heroine who is already broken by the world before the series even truly begins. From the very first book, she’s thrown into a dangerous supernatural underworld where survival means learning fast, trusting carefully, and bleeding when necessary. She’s surrounded by powerful, morally gray men ~ not instant heroes, not instant allies ~ and the tension is thick right out of the gate. Early on, alliances are shaky, motives are unclear, and no one is offering safety without a price.

As the individual books progress, the stakes escalate fast. What begins as survival turns into power struggles, shadow magic, blood bonds, and enemies who are far more organized and cruel than expected. Each book peels back another layer: secrets about her past, the truth behind her abilities, and why she was never meant to live a quiet life. The relationships deepen slowly and painfully, built on shared trauma, hard-earned trust, and moments where betrayal feels inevitable. No one gets a free pass in this series — everyone has to prove themselves.

Mid-series is where things really explode. The world expands, the enemies become more personal, and the heroine steps fully into her power ~ even when it terrifies her. Choices made in earlier books come back with consequences, and the men around her are forced to decide where their loyalty truly lies. This is where the found-family element hits hard, because these bonds aren’t pretty or easy ~ they’re forged under pressure and loss.

By the final books, everything collides. Power is claimed, lines are drawn, and the cost of survival becomes painfully clear. The ending doesn’t magically erase the darkness — it earns its resolution through sacrifice, growth, and acceptance of who these characters truly are. It’s satisfying without being soft, and that’s exactly why it works.

I read part of this series on Kindle, but when my eyes needed a break, I switched to Audible ~ which I do constantly because reading and listening helps keep my head sane when I’m not teaching. The narration added another layer of intensity, especially during the darker scenes and emotionally charged moments. Hearing the fear, anger, and devotion made the story even more immersive.

Having all the books together in one collection is honestly dangerous because once you start, you won’t stop. This series is intense, emotional, and unapologetically dark — exactly how I like it.

I would definitely recommend this book and series and can’t wait to start on the next book. If you want to know what happens next, you’ll just have to read this series yourself ~ you won’t regret it.

This was a beast of a listen at 51 hours but I enjoyed Riva's story and it has been on my TBR for way too long. I have unintentionally read the Shadowkind series' completely out of order (I haven't read Sorcha's series yet) but it didn't hinder me too much. This book starts off with not a lot of context though and it did take me a minute to get into it.

Book one was a really strong start and probably my favourite of the five largely as it focused on the lead characters and setting up their dynamic; I also quite liked the level of distrust as it was entirely plausible rather than a simple miscommunication and it made for some interesting conflict. Despite his beginning, Jacob was probably the MMC I liked the most. Of all the male leads, he was in a unique position compared to the others and his reactions were understandable in retaliation to what he thought Riva had taken from him. I didn't like his actions but I did like how he wasn't forgiven overnight and had to work at it.

The middle books had a balance of action and drama and there were plenty of emotional moments for Amber Lee Connors and Adam Gold to dig their teeth into as well as several new characters joining the series. I found the villains a little samey though and the pacing drifted a little for me here but I suspect that's largely down to listening as an omnibus as the books blended together.

The final book took a few turns I didn't see coming with several plot threads being tied up earlier than anticipated leaving Riva and her guys dealing with a civil war. I engaged with the last half of the book more than the first as it threw up some really interesting questions about nature/nurture and how far they would be willing to go for the greater good. And I'm always here for more Rolick page time!

My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read

You know when a book is so good, you don't even want to go to sleep? Yeah, that's this one.

Shadowblood Souls isn’t just a book, it’s an entire world. It's a dark, gritty, and fiercely romantic reverse harem series that sucked me in from the very first chapter. I'm talking about a heroine who grows stronger with every hit she takes, and a group of morally grey heroes who'd burn the world down to protect her.

The emotional connection between Riva and her guys is everything. You feel their pain, their struggles, and their undeniable love. It’s the kind of series where the characters feel like your friends and you genuinely miss them when it’s over.

🎧 The audiobook? Absolute perfection.
The narrators, Amber Lee Connors and Adam Gold, are the heart of this series. They gave each character a unique voice and emotion that made the story jump off the page. The way they bring the action, the passion, and the pain to life is just breathtaking. You can feel the characters’ conflict and desire in every word.

If you're a fan of urban fantasy, found family, and a slow-burn reverse harem with high stakes and deep emotion, you need to listen to this. It's a complete journey that's worth every single minute.

If I could I woukd run straight into a train also! I had to stop at 26%! Okay so we have these guys and 1 girl who have special powers and they are raised together since INFANCY! WE barely get any life situations that woukd have you tearing up or rooting for them! After she kills tons of people to get away and finds the guys they treat her horrible! No, that does Not tingle my pringles! The author made me dislike the guys so much I think the girl should have split after she found the woman that made them. And let's talk about that, we barely get any info from the psycho somehow motherly woman that noted when the first smile came from the girl! The angst goes away quickly but at 26% I had grown a tentacle and it was beating me in my head to stop reading this atrocious non story. Where are all these good reviews coming from? I did not rally for the guys except Dominic and the girl is just too poor me. These people have monster like abilities and can take out people they should be tougher than this! Wake up!!! No I will never recommend or read any of these authors books!

Let me start by saying I did enjoy this series. I did feel like it started off very abruptly and threw you right into the story, which for this story was rather confusing because I felt like I was missing a lot of context. Over time though the details were filled in and that really helped.

I loved the relationship depth that was built over the books. I did not like that the books didn't ever seem to let you breathe. I'm not talking about multiple chapters of downtime, but these books very much felt like jumping from one crisis to another without any oxygen between them. I had to eventually take a break from the books to just let my mind digest everything that had happened so I could go forward.

The ending was great, they were well written. just a few things that made them difficult for me but they are good!

loved it so much!!

If you’re just discovering Eva Chase, I
Highly suggest you read Flirting with monsters (the complete series) then heart of a monster (the complete series) before you start this one as it’s part of a “universe”… they are all RH..
the spice level of heart of a monster and shadowblood souls is a bit spicier then flirting w/monsters. Monster-peen and appendages…
I loved them all… the emotional aspect this series plus the amount of groveling… oh boy I loved it…

Another really good RH series of hers is bound to the fae (the spice isn’t as spicy as these but it’s good) 9 books total. 3 box sets. With paired audiobooks…

I wanted to like this. The premise sounded so interesting. But my goodness the mfc was so boring. The entire series can be summed us as:

We've been captured!
Angst, fighting, blood
We escaped!
More fighting, blood
We've been captured!
sex, sex, sex
Fighting, plotting, blood
We escaped!
sex, sex, sex
Fighting, angst, blood
We've been captured!

Rinse, wash, repeat.

Honestly if I hadn't been somewhere with no internet I would have returned this and DNF. I just skimmed it to see how it ended.

I feel like I have lived their lives with them!
A lot of uncomfortable situations have made these relationships stronger. Riva and her Shadowblood men.😊
I have enjoyed the books and the HEA was worth it.
I thought it was possibly too long though. They could have killed/ changed the outcome of a couple of their battles.
But I liked how the other characters from the previous books came into this one.
Glad I read Sorcha's book first as she and her monsters were prominent in the last couple of books.
I would recommend it.

This story follows Riva, who is a hybrid human with supernatural abilities, and the five guys she grew up with, trained with and shared hopes and dreams with. The first couple of books are outstanding, but the latter three feels kind of repetitive and left me with a meeeh feeling.

This is an urban fantasy, why choose without sword crossing, with morally grey MCs and multiple POVs.

Shadowblood Souls: The Complete Series by Eva Chase is kind of disappointing and I found it hard to rate appropriately as I really enjoyed the first two books but the last three were drawn out especially books three and four but got a bit back on track with book 5. My rating is a 3.5 stars. I've been a fan of Eva Chase for years and will continue to be.

Holy cow!

This is a good series. There's so much action and things going on. Plus all the twists and turns that will keep you going. The narrators did a good job relaying emotion and differences between the characters. I recommend this listen make sure you have time to binge because that's what you'll want to do.

We have the story of Riva and her guys as a complete set. There's action, danger, tension, drama, heartbreak and steam throughout. There were also cameos of characters from some of the author's other series, but it's not confusing if you've not read them yet.

I received a free copy of the audiobook and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Great series

This is one of my all-time favorite series, and Riva will always be one of my favorite heroines. The bonus content was fantastic, and its nice to have the series in one book.

Great Story!

This was a very good read! I enjoyed the characters and the plot itself was very detailed. The relationships within the story, between all the characters, not just the main romance, were portrayed with depth. I prefer a bit more spice but enjoyed this book.

X-Men vibes x bully romance, Riva and 5 guys are held captive by a secret and mysterious organization who conduct tests and intense training on them. They build an unbreakable bond until Riva breaks it.

I don't love the miscommunication trope which is a major part of this series plot where the boys choose to believe their enemy over Riva. They blame her but don't let her go which is incredibly frustrating. I also wish there was more grovelling which is the best part of a bully romance in my opinion.

Slow burn RH. The dual narration was lovely.

Thank you for this ALC from StoryOrigin and Eva Chase.
