Once upon a time Malrik was cold, wealthy, and arrogant. Convinced he was too important to ever fall victim to the curse of the unmated Vultor, he dismissed every female brought before him. Now he roams the mountains, locked in his beast form. Until one day he catches an unfamiliar scent - one that awakens a part of him he’d thought lost forever. A scent belonging to a pretty little human he will do anything to claim.
Bella is perfectly content living on the outskirts of the village with her eccentric father. When he fails to return from a trip, she goes in search of him only to find herself in the hands of a massive, scarred beast. She should be terrified, but despite his fearsome appearance and growled commands, she is more intrigued than scared.
Can she reach the male hidden inside the beast? Or is Malrik lost forever?
Each book in the Alien Wolf Tales series may be read as a standalone romance. These sweet and steamy tales are intended for mature readers.
Malrik is the next Vultor to find his special someone and he's...well, he's nearly been consumed by the curse of the unmated and pretty much everyone thinks he's a lost cause. Ehh, maybe not everyone. I mean, he did help Korrin when Tessa was poisoned and Agatha seems to know more than she lets on, but most everyone else who knows about the curse thinks he's too far gone to ever be more than a beast in the wild.
Fortunately for Malrik, Bella crosses his path and changes everything. She's kind and not too afraid of him. Come to think, she's more afraid for her father than for herself. Plus, she has a keep's worth of tech to explore and attempt to repair and it's hard to stay afraid when the hulking beast holding her in his keep let's her tinker to her heart's content.
As for Malrik, he's a Vultor torn between his (currently) dominant beast side and the other side of him that is pushing forward the more time he spends around Bella. The other side has memories of manners and society and knows that pushing Bella too fast and hard will ultimately drive her away. Somehow, he has to figure out how to balance both sides of himself if he hopes to keep Bella beside him.
A broken keep, more tech than a tinkerer can shake a stick at, a beast who needs to remember how to be a little less feral, and a lady who knows a good male when she meets him. Even if he is wearing fur and claws at the time. *thumbs up*
I loved this book from start to finish. Malrik and Bella were both great characters who came together and mended each other's hearts. They were exactly what the other needed.
I appreciate how the complexity of their emotions were displayed without any unnecessary actions and reactions. The absence of drama between the two allowed for the connection to seem pure and heart-warming.
I search low and high for books that focus on a good romance and connection building without any extra craziness. This book was a great read.
Okay, look. Beauty and the Beast retelling? I’m *in*. Alien twist? Even better. Honey Phillips? One of my absolute faves. So imagine my surprise when *Cursed Alien* didn’t quite sweep me off my feet like a growly space-beast with a soft heart usually does. Womp womp.
Let’s set the scene: Bella’s dad wanders onto alien land, gets tossed in a cell by Marlik (our big, broody beastie), and is basically handed a cup of water and a “good luck” pat on the back. Not exactly the five-star hostage treatment. Bella, being the brave, stubborn queen she is, marches over to the mystery mansion to rescue her dad and ends up bartering her labor for his release—classic B\&B vibes, right?
But here's the thing… I wanted *more*. More connection. More heart. More slow-burn tension between beauty and beast instead of "hey, let’s hammer some broken alien tech while we awkwardly ignore our lack of chemistry." Marlik never fully charmed me, and Bella, while capable and strong, didn’t get much of a chance to *shine*. Their romance felt a little flat—like someone forgot to plug in the emotional blaster.
I still love Honey Phillips (top 10, forever), and this book wasn’t *bad* by any means. It just didn’t give me the swoony beast-boy and resilient heroine magic I was hoping for. I’ll chalk it up to a rare miss and keep reading, because when Honey hits, she *really* hits. Just… not this time.
Cursed is my favorite of the series. Malrik and Bella are a lovely couple with a believable romance. The supporting cast is interesting. Bella's acceptance of Malrik and his redemption are well-written and believable.
🔥 “Mine. My mate. My Bella.” ~~~ Bella is absolutely amazing! She’s brilliant, brave, confident and independent. Even more, she’s so kind, patient and compassionate. I adored her fierceness, courage and her thirst for knowledge. Bella is an incredible woman and I loved her so, so much!
And then, there’s Malrik - a Vultor noble, who’s succumbed to the curse of the unmated and, now, his beast now in control. Malrik is feral, dangerous and snarly, but there’s so much more beneath the surface. Because underneath his ferocious appearance, lies a caring, considerate, observant, charming and fiercely protective male. Malrik is an amazing male and I couldn’t help but adore everything about him!
I absolutely loved everything that happened between Bella and Malrik! Malrik’s beast is in full control… until one day an unfamiliar scent awakens something buried deep inside. Meanwhile, Bella lives an (almost) content life with her father until he disappears on a trip to Port Cantor. When Bella goes to look for him, she finds herself face-to-face with a fearsome beast… And a bargain is struck. I absolutely adored Bella and Malrik together! Their chemistry was fantastic from the start and I loved every moment they spent together. I loved how protective and supportive they were of each other. Even more, I loved how patient Bella was with Malrik while he struggled between his beast and Vultor forms. She saw beyond his monstrous nature to discover the remarkable male Malrik truly is. And, yes, not only Malrik has a library to swoon over, but even after the curse is broken, part of his beast remains (*sighs happily*). Bella and Malrik were so perfect for each other and absolutely deserved to find happiness and love together.
Overall, Cursed Alien is an emotional, heartwarming and wonderfully sweet story and another absolutely fantastic addition to the series.
This author is a bibliophiles national treasure because I haven’t been disappointed yet by one of her stories, and with Cursed Alien the reader will be taken down the path of beastly Vultor shifter Malrik and the human woman Bella who brings down the walls of his once prideful self while systematically shaking up his world. Love these homages to fairytales, made for adults, and the charm, wit, emotion, sweetness, and spice that just makes each one a satisfying read. Unmated Malrik has been trapped in his beast form for a long time and its only when the wind carries a very tantalizing scent his way in the forest one day that his other half is teased into coming out to play, but not just yet. Months later Bella who lives on the outskirts of the local village with her father who some might call eccentric because of his unconventional inventions is worried because he hasn’t returned from a trip to Port Cantor. Bella decides to go searching for him on the road that takes her through the mountains, and Vultor territory, where she comes across an abandoned keep with her father’s wagon outside, and is soon confronted by a very growly beast who offers to release him if she stays to repair his technology, and a bargain is struck, because like her father Bella can fix anything. I so enjoyed this Beauty and the Beast rendition that was sweetly written with lots of emotion, well developed characters, and a narrative that pulls you into a story of personal vulnerabilities, mate bonding, passion, family, a curse, and second chances. My new favorite story of the series! HEA.

I was really excited to read this book because Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorite fairy tales and I loved reading this retelling of it. Malrik & Bella make a great couple in this story and I enjoyed seeing how their bond developed. The epilogue at the end did a really good job of showing how the two of them are doing a little into the future and I look forward to reading more books from this series as well as other books from this author in other series as well.
My all time favorite fairytale hands down is Beauty and the Beast! There is just something beautiful about love, forgiveness and redemption that appeals to my romantic heart. I'm also on the team that wished the beast never fully left after the curse was broken. I fell in love with beast and I wanted him to stay that way. A prince is a dime a dozen, but a glorious beast who'll love you is hard to find😘😘😘 Malrik was once a Prince of the Vultor people. He was rich and arrogant and believed nothing could begin his way. Not friends , family ,advisors and especially not the curse of the unmated unfortunately he found out the hard way that that no one is safe from your bodies biology taking over. In recent months he's been helping others of his kind save their human mates, his heart and mind beginning to remember life before the curse. Bella daughter of a brilliant engineer who married a small village Mechanic has good for n up of long out of place her whole life especially after her mothers death. She has the brilliance of both her parents and the skill too back everything up. Bella's father disappears on the way back from a the trade market and she goes looking . Bella is determined to find her father on her journey, and she does but that is not all she finds. She's confronted with a Vultor that can't control his beast and she realizes that she likes it like that this is honestly my favorite in the series 🌟 💖 I highly recommend you give this s a try its awesome 💖🔥🌟💖🔥🔥🌟💖🔥🌟💖🌟🔥💖🌟🔥💖🌟🔥💖💖🔥🌟🔥💖🌟🔥
This was such a sweet and heartwarming retelling of Beauty and the Beast. I just want to start by saying that I absolutely loved Bella! She was brave, confident, independent, clever, smart, patient and kind. She's honestly the type of woman who can light a pathway and lead others on. Her kindness and compassion for Malrik and the struggles he faced was truly heartwarming to witness. Their romance felt so authentic and wholesome in how steadfast Bella remained, always reassuring him that she was there.
Speaking of Malrik, I loved getting to see his internal battle. It just made him seem more real and definitely raised the stakes of what it would mean to lose the threads of his humanity to such raw power. Bella was like his guiding light. I love how he was constantly drawn to her, like a moth to a flame. There was nothing he could deny her.
While I don't want to give too much away, I do want to say that I'm happy with how it ended. I'm glad that a part of the beast remains in the end because it fulfills so many childhood fantasies where we wanted Beauty to end up with the Beast. I'm glad with how things were settled between Malrik and the Vultor. And I'm also glad for the little sprinkles of the classic tale that were cleverly tied into this story.
If you're looking for a heartwarming Beauty and the Beast retelling with a sci-fi/monster twist, this is it!
'As they walked, the beast and the male warred within him. The beast wanted only to keep her in his territory, to guard her presence. The male wanted… what? To understand? To remember? To be free of this form that trapped him between worlds? Or perhaps, most disturbing of all, to be seen as something more than a monster by the female who now walked these halls with him.'
I have loved every book in this series, but I was particularly excited for the Beauty and the Beast retelling as it's one of my favorite fairy tales. Great world building and wonderful characters. I really liked Honey's version of the curse that locked Malrik in his beast form. He and Bella made a great pairing and I liked how their personalities suited each other. Bella was also insightful, as well as skilled, and saw there was more to Malrik than his beastly exterior.
'Despite his fearsome appearance, there was a profound loneliness to him as he gazed out at the world beyond his crumbling domain. The intelligence in those eyes wasn’t just predatory calculation— there was something deeper there, something wounded.'
I loved seeing them bond and fall in love. A beautiful read. 5 stars.
Absolutely loved this alien wolf Beauty and the Beast retelling. We have seen Malrik throughout the series and I was looking forward to his story.
Malrik was the Alpha’s son, full of pride and arrogant. Having fallen to the curse of an unmated Vultor, he is now locked in his beast form. Bella works with her father fixing and repairing the villager’s mechanical machines. She has grown restless with the small gossipy village and when her father does not return from a trade fair, sets off to find him. Bella is an intelligent and fearless young woman and loved the interactions with Malrik as he slowly realises that she is his mate. There isn’t only one bed but there is only one bed as far as Malrik is concerned that is with him. I was a little worried when almost halfway through there appeared to be no sign of a library in Malrik’s grand dwelling, but I need not have worried. Also loved that though the ‘curse’ is removed he doesn’t completely lose his beast side and it sure makes for some dominant sexy couplings.

Malrik and Bella are my favorite couple in this series! I've wanted Malrik's story since we first met him in Alien Huntsman when he came to Tessa's rescue. This is a Beauty and the Beast retelling...the way I always wanted it to be, where the Beast keeps some of his Beastly ways. Bella is a tinkerer, which I absolutely loved. She is sweet, kind and loyal. So is Malrik but he is also growly and possessive. I enjoyed this story so much. I can see it becoming one of my comfort reads since it left me feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. I can honestly say there has never been a Honey Phillips book I haven't loved. She writes magic of the best kind. Her characters are warm and alive. Some you love and some you dislike a lot...just like real life. Her worlds are amazing and complete. But her stories! Her stories are wonderous, magical things that take you away from this sometimes very hard life. I loved this book! 5 stars isn't enough.
loved this book, and it may be my favorite of the series. Malrik was a tortured soul, lost, confused, and lonely after his beast took over. He suffered from the Curse of the Unmated. But he caught the scent of Belle, a human from the village, and his life slowly began to change. When an opportunity arose for him actually to meet the owner of that elusive, incredible scent, he jumped on it. Belle had always been the weird one in the village, working with her father on mechanics, greasy and oil-stained, she was often the subject of gossip. When she meets the Beast, she agrees to help him fix all the broken mechanics in his Keep. What neither realizes is that she is also there to fix him! I loved it. She was so accepting and had such a beautiful soul. I was so happy for their HEA. Malrik's story was one I had been eagerly awaiting, and I am grateful for the opportunity to review such a wonderful romance.

This is another fun installment in the sci-fi fairy tale retelling series Alien Wolf Tales. The series is made up of interconnected standalones and can be read out of order. It’s also a spin-off of the How the Alien Were Won series.
Human FMC Bella is the town mechanic and tinkere. When her father doesn’t come back from a trip through alien territory, she goes looking for him, and finds Malrik, the shifter alien MMC who is lost to his beast form.
I enjoyed getting Malrik’s story, as he appeared in several of the other books. Beauty and the Beast is also a favorite of mine, and I appreciated this interpretation, which removed some of the more Stockholm syndrome elements from the original. I loved Malrik’s personal growth, and Bella’s as well although it was not as drastic. They were great for each other.
Another stellar spicy sci-fi. I look forward to more in the series and can’t wait to see what fairytale we get next.
Spice:4.5/5 Plot:4.5/5 Writing:4.5/5 My Enjoyment:4.5/5
This is a beautiful retelling of the Beauty and the Beast tale. On Cresca the planet where humans live in an old time west community, Bella and her father ate the mechanics of the town. Bella wears overalls most days . Certainly not husband - getting attire. Her father has taken some things to be traded . The trail would have taken him in Vultor territory. He should have been back Days ago....... Bella , worried for her father, sets off to find him . But first , she needs to know where to go. Agatha , her friends grandmother, would know. As Bella set off on her adventure to find her father, she finds so much more !!! Malrik, was once different then he is now. His beast has taken over. But not completely. And once he scents his " mate", things get very Interesting !!!! These two are so sweet together. This book , is a fantastic read !So glad I picked this up !!!
It’s time for the wolf to find his mate and break the curse!!
“Yes, he was hers. Had been from the moment he’d caught her scent. Would be until his last breath.”
Such a captivating read as Beauty and the Beast is retold! Bella is strong, competent, intelligent, and determined to find her beloved inventor father who has gone missing while gone to sell goods they have produced. But on her way to find him, she also finds her fated mate Malrik. Malrik has been taken over by his Vultor wolf side and has her father imprisoned. She trades her technology skills for her father’s freedom. Can they find a way to love one another and break the curse?? Agatha plays a part and as always, her presence brings wisdom and joy by being instrumental in bringing the couples together. A fantastic and sexy read!!.

One of my favorite fairy tales is Beauty and the Beast. Honey Phillips has done it again with her version. It follows the fairytale yet has some delightful twists. I also like that the books are standalone with a charming HEA for the couple. I liked Belle. Her determination and support of Malrik was fun to read. She wasn't afraid of him even when he was in best form. I loved her acceptance of all of him, including his in-betweens . We learn a little bit abut Malrik in Tessa ad Korren's story (Alien Huntsman). I loved how Korrin stood up for him with the council . Well written with steam to the eventual romance. Action and suspense throughout. I can't wait to see what other fairytales get a retelling.

Honey Phillips never fails to write a good story, but for some reason, this one just made me smile a lot. Especially the end. It wasn’t perfect - the falling in love in a couple of days seemed rushed, and the description of the beast was missing (unless I just missed it). When they were talking about the beast running through the forest, I’m picturing like a giant wolf. With a muzzle. How they could kiss, I couldn’t imagine. I wish there had been a more detailed description of the Beast. But apparently he stood upright? And eight feet tall? Too tall.
However, I enjoyed the entire book and Honey Phillips remains one of the authors on my list whose books I can buy without checking reviews or even blurbs. I know I’m going to get my money’s worth and thoroughly enjoy her books! As I did this time.
Reviewed in the United States on May 24, 2025 Honey Phillips’ series of reimagined fairytales has given us a version of beauty and the beast the way it should have been. The Disney version has nothing on this tale of love and transformation. The Vultor of Cresca already have had some magical adventures but none are more magical than a beauty taming her beast. The way that they see the truth of each other regardless of what each looks like on the outside and the way they truly communicate with each other is the way that we should all aspire to communicate with each other. Plus, this book makes all of my “the beast was hotter before he changed into a human” fantasies come true. Such a wonderful story and SOOOOOO HOT!

Another mesmerizing read by Honey Phillips. This classic is an all-time favourite of mine. The characters and storyline are alluring and addictive. Despite what we all know about this classic, Honey has made it into so much more. 💜💜🔥
Both lead characters have the amazing fortitude to see beyond the surface. Their story unravels through patience and understanding. Seeing and feeling the isolation that initially brought the two of them together. The perfect balance of strength and vulnerability.
This story warms the heart. A tale as old as time.........

Love Cursed Alien, book 4 of the Alien Tales series by Honey Phillips. This imaginative Beauty and the Beast retelling has Malrik having turned almost completely beast after decades alone following his being thrown out of Vultor society. Bella works with her widowed dad, fixing all things mechanical. Dad leaves to pass through Vultor territory to trade in another town but doesn’t return as expected, causing Bella to go in search for him. Finding dad imprisoned in a tower owned by the beast, she agrees to stay to fix the keep’s failed tech while her sickly dad goes to the healer. As they work to restore the keep, Malrik and Bella learn that love can conquer all, even an ancient curse!
I have not read the previous books in this series, but it was rather easy to follow along with.
It's a beautiful Beauty and the Beast retelling set on the fictional planet Cresca.
We first meet the beast in his almost feral beast form, hunting a cottma (=rabbit) He's a Vultor that has been totally consumed by the curse of the unmated vultor.
And our female lead Bella is a Mechaniker/engineer who likes to repair things.
I am not going to provide spoilers, so just know it was an enjoyable read. But maybe I'm a little bit disappointed with the epilogue 6 months later...
My unanswered question: Can a vultor and a human have kids?
This was such a cool Beauty & the Beast retelling! I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved how strong, smart & capable Bella was. She didn’t back down from a challenge. The Beast, a Vultor that had the curse of the unmated after years of arrogance & refusing every potential mate, was almost completely lost to his beast, but was still able to recognize Bella as his true mate. Bella is drawn to Malrick & falls in love with him. This is a steamy take on the story with a HEA.

Bella is not the typical girl in the eyes of her village. She is a mechanic who assists her father fixing things. When he father is delayed she goes off with the aid of Agatha to find him. Just so happens that she finds him in the keep of Malrik. Malrik is struggling to come back to sanity away from his inner beast. These two go on a journey together as Bella’s presence helps Malrik come back to sanity. They find common ground and intimacy with each other. They also are fixing up his fallen keep. She is the best person to not only help fix the keep but to bring Malrik out from the curse too.
Malrik was cursed to be a beast for all times due to him being unmated. Bella, who worked with her father as a mechanic, was anxious about her father when he had not returned from a trip so she went looking for him unknown to her that he was in Malrik's keep. Malrik scented Bella and his beast was captivated so he made a deal with her - fix his keep and her father would be released. For some reason, Malrik had to be sure she was safe. As Bella works on the tech in his keep, she starts to have real feelings for him and him for her. This is a beautiful retelling of the beauty and the beast with a happy ending.
Beautiful rendition of Beauty and the Beast!!! (But with monsters, and shifting, and spice!!!🔥🥰😍🔥)
Really, Honey nailed this one! I absolutely loved this!!! It was a wonderful story of unconditional love, found family, finding your people…all of that.
I loved that Bella was a mechanical engineer in this version. Independent and fierce, she’s the perfect mate for Malrik (the Beast). I also really loved that SHE loved his feral/beast side as much as she loved his Vultor side🥰.

Good story with an interesting literary take on Beauty and The Beast. Kept to one of the classic storylines (Americanized version of the original French classic) but giving a twist to the story to keep it within Sci-fi parameters. This is the fourth book in this series and none have failed to miss. I did think that this story could have been fleshed out a bit more but it was still satisfying. Hopefully this series will continue and Honey Phillips will continue her creatively ingenious takes on classic fairytales.
This was such a great addition to the series and I loved this take on Beauty and the Beast. One fun twist is that Bella and her father are tinkers and can fix just about anything. This comes in handy when she goes to find her missing father and sees he's a captive of Malrik. Malrik scented her and knew she'd be important to him so he's thrilled to have a way to barter for her skills to get her where he wants her ;P Expect to fall hard for these well developed characters as they work to deal with his curse and find their HEA. Love that the author included an epilogue for us :D
