She has killed kings and princes, sorcerers and alchemists, young and old and rich and poor, and laughed at their screams and rejoiced at the tears of their families. And her next target is Caina Amalas.

The author has finally corrected some "flaws" in the previous series. First, Caina is no longer as lucky as she was portrayed (come on! How can one young lady defeat all those mighty sorcerers without even getting a scratch?). Second, evil sorcerers are not just introduced, foiled, and then killed in the individual books. Third, there is a greater intricate weaving of the story line. And finally, Caina finally has tools (for lack of a better word) that aid her; the pyrikon and the valikon.
I really loved the psyche of the Red Huntress, a maniac sociopath possesed by a demon that grants her superhuman strength, speed and regeneration... Sweet! All in all, it was another interesting adventure.
Ps: I strongly suspect Kylon was the stormdancer that the Red Huntress faced and couldn't defeat. 😉
Overall this was an excellent read and Caina continues to be an inspired heroine. However, although in the main I really enjoy these books I wish the author wouldn’t keep ‘over-egging the pudding’. He can't seem to stop himself from just piling in more and more adversaries. Not content with yet another megalomaniac sorcerer and an army of demons, he has added a rebel country full of despotic slave owning necromancers, invisible assassins and a near indestructible demon possessed hunter, all wanting to kill Caina.
Finally I would have given 4 stars had it not been for the ending, I suspect the author must get attached to his villains because he finds it so difficult to lose them, no matter how unbelievable is their survival.
This book follows 4 short stories - Ghost Price, Relics, Vessel and Candle. These do not have to be read to enjoy this book but include some background information. Again this is an enjoyable book with lots of action, new and old friends against the enemy that wants to remake the world. Some of the story is a bit of a repeat of previous one - Caina against evil but good anyways
This book just shows me how pointless it is to continue reading this series. The best two books in the ghost series are child of ghosts and ghost in the flames because the enemies died at the end and didn’t come back to life like in a video game. Why make the same Characters over and over that can’t be killed till the last book. I should just skip books 4,5,6,7 and 8 and just read book 9 next so I can read a book like the first two again. This series is a copy of the first! I don’t understand the point of making characters like this if she dies or one of her friends it’s one and done but her enemies can be killed 100 times and still be walking around till book 9 when they die one last time because of a stupid loophole!

Dear Jonathan, another entertaining and wonderful adult story in the continuing series. Your stories tend to be on the gruesome side which is why I have identified them as adult reading. Your imagination and creativity, along with excellent characters, makes for an interesting story. The plot line is ingenious and definitely original. I highly recommend reading this book to any adult interested in reading a great story and series. Thanks for the entertainment.
This time Caina becomes the prey of legendary assassin the Red Huntress. Fortunately, some allies are by her side as she fends off new enemies while trying to discover how she can stop Callatas and his Apotheosis.
The Red Huntress is especially evil and terrifying. I wish the bad guys would stay dead but they always come back for more. It was good to see some familiar faces from the Empire. I like how notorious figures from Istarinmul's past keep coming to life.
This series just got better. The first 2 books were lacking but this one makes up for it. The strong main character and the great story telling keeps you reading and the pages turning easily. Great Reading Everyone!
Carina avoids death time after dizzying time. The descriptions of the action keep me turning the pages. The imagination required to tell these stories is unbelievable!
I enjoyed this book it's got great world building and an interesting female protagonist all the action happened at the end of the book 3 3 quarters stars rounded up
Ghost Exile book 3. Spoilers ahead for the earlier books.
Caina finally gets a message about what to do. An assassin who can turn invisible complicates it, but she ends up with the knowledge that she needs to help the ambassador the Empire is sending: Martin. And his wife Claudia.
Assassins feature again. One is the Red Huntress, the legendary killer, while others are more of the invisible Silent Hunters, more limited.
It involves disguises as dancers, Claudia's disliking the local food, a pilgrimage, a weapon that can harm the Red Huntress, a friend from their visit to the maze in earlier books, bandits and their folly, and more.
Another exciting installment in the Ghost Exile series, although with a large gap between reading #2 and this one, I did struggle to remember some of the events referenced. No matter, this was as full of fantasy and bloodshed as the last, with the return of some (rather annoying) characters from the main Ghosts series. I can't say Caina was at her finest here as her scenes seemed cut short almost to reintroduce Claudia and co, but it didn't detract from the overall enjoyment. I also enjoyed the introduction of the Red Huntress, will look forward to her next battle with Caina!
