Willow was once a witch until her doctor gave her a death sentence. Faced with this grim fate, she asked her vampire friend, Corwin, to turn her into a vampire so she could continue living. Although Willow misses the sensation of practicing magic, she is grateful to be alive. However, when her best friend, Christina, received a death sentence of her own, she also wanted Corwin to turn her into a vampire. Corwin felt uneasy about the situation, sensing that something wasn't right, but he ultimately granted Christina's wish. In doing so, he lost the love he had cherished for a long time.
