From New York Times bestseller Elle Cosimano comes Finlay Donovan Crosses the Line—the highly anticipated next installment in the beloved Finlay Donovan series.
Life hasn’t been easy for Finlay Donovan lately, but it just got a whole lot harder. Her nanny and partner-in-crime, Vero, has been extradited from Virginia to Maryland, where she’s facing criminal charges for a theft she swears she didn’t commit. A prisoner to an ankle bracelet as she awaits her trial, Vero is forced to live with her overbearing mother and nosy aunt. Threatening messages keep arriving on her mother’s door, demanding Vero “turn over the money . . . or else.” And if she doesn’t figure out who really stole her former sorority’s treasury funds, her next home might be a prison cell.
But proving her innocence might be an impossible feat. Vero was the treasurer of her sorority when the money went missing—one of the only people who had access to the cash. And her alibi is a date who ghosted her. With her court date quickly approaching, and her mysterious stalker on her tail, Vero needs to clear her name fast.
Finlay decides a trip to Maryland is in order. After all, Vero stood by her through her darkest moments, and Finlay will be damned if she lets her best friend and children’s nanny be convicted for something she didn’t do. She sets off on a mission to sus out the real thief and bring Vero home.
More? Finlay plz stay out of illegal shenanigans 🙏 Change your name, your kids' names, and your nanny's name and move to the Netherlands or something, and get a very safe boring job. Like an accountant.* Be a law-abiding accountant.
**this review is for the chapter sampler (1-12) ONLY!**
I love Finlay Donovan SO MUCH and i'm so glad that we finally get a deeper look into Vero's life before book 1!! Thus far the balance between mystery/suspense and comedic relief is *chef's kiss* and I really have no inkling about what the ultimate outcome will be. patiently awaiting the release of the book in March 2026 😩
**thank you to St. Martin's Press for the Chapter Sampler ARC**
Twelve Chapter Samplier! WHAT. A. TEASE!!! Note to self: read the book blurb before you request a NetGalley book! I guess I only have myself to blame, I was so looking forward to the next Finlay Donovan book that I was so twitterpated to find it up on NetGalley that I neglected to read past the title to the small print. This is such a shameless, self-serving marketing ploy aimed at getting early positive reviews for this book that, frankly, I feel used and abused by the publisher.
Anyway, here are my thoughts on this early teaser for the book: I Love It! And I can't wait to see where this plot finally ends up. Vero has always been a crafty character. She has shady friends and family and connections that have saved Finley's bacon on more than one occasion. Now, Vero is in trouble, and it is Finley to the rescue. At least I hope she is the rescuer and doesn't end up in a jail cell next to Vero. There is also a little something, something that Finlay is up to . . . To Be Continued . . .
My thanks to the Publisher, and Author, for providing a complimentary digital Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of this novel via NetGalley. This is my fair, honest and personal review. All opinions are mine alone and were not biased in any way.
This series remains entirely unserious, entertaining, and full of the love of a found family. Do all of the hijinks make the most sense? No and I’m sure some tech gurus have some comments about signal hacking. But sometimes you just gotta suspend a little disbelief and go along for a hydraulic fueled ride in an Eggplant. Handcuffs not included.
Thank you, NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the teaser ARC 📖💫
I was so excited to get my hands on the next installment of Finlay Donovan, only to realize it was just the first twelve chapters. Despite that, I found it so easy to dive back into the world containing Finlay Donovan and Vero’s antics. Reading this series is like continuing a conversation with an old friend and feeling like no time has passed. It’s a fast paced, easy read that’s full of fun. I’m so eager to get my hands on the rest of the book when it releases March 17 because I have questions that need answers!
I’ve only read the first twelve chapters of Finlay Donovan Crosses the Line, but I already know I’m going to love this one. Elle Cosimano delivers the same hilarious, fast-paced charm that has made this series such a standout for me.
From the very beginning, the banter is sharp, the situations are delightfully absurd, and Finlay’s inner narration is as entertaining as ever. Vero’s predicament immediately raises the stakes, and I was completely hooked by the mystery surrounding the stolen sorority funds and the increasingly ominous threats. The dynamic between Finlay and Vero remains the heart of the story—funny, loyal, and deeply endearing.
Even in these early chapters, the plot feels layered and well-paced, balancing humor with genuine tension. The setup is compelling, the characters feel as lovable and chaotic as always, and the story already has that “just one more chapter” pull. Based on this strong start, I expect this will easily land as a 4–5 star read once I’ve finished the full book.
Fans of the Finlay Donovan series will feel right at home here, and anyone looking for a cozy mystery with laugh-out-loud moments and heart will want to pick this up.
It’s no secret that I love this series and that getting an arc is very exciting- but it only being a “sample” of 12 chapters is cruel. Cannot wait until March to finish!!
A big thank you to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for an ARC of the first 12 chapters of Finlay Donovan Crosses the Line.
If you have been following Finlay and Vero since the beginning, you will love finding answers to all of the unresolved questions we have about Vero’s backstory. The sixth books of the series picks up right where we left off in Finlay Donovan Digs Her Own Grave. I felt like I was catching up with friends I haven’t talked to in a while. I cannot wait to read the rest of this book and figure out who stole the money!!
I was so excited to get an ARC of this book, only to be left hanging!!! Only the first 12 chapters, why do you torture us so?
Finlay and her hilarious crew of friends and neighbors are back with another crime on their hands. Vero has been falsely accused and of course it’s up to them to prove her innocence. All the fun and humor you would expect from Finlay and friends.
I was excited to get the next installment of Finlay Donovan, only to realize it was just the first twelve chapters. Cue that strange mix of thrill and letdown. Things pick right back up from the last novel. Finlay is back, trying to help Vero before she goes to trial. Nick steps up with the kids while Finlay is away. I really enjoyed seeing that side of their relationship and how he interacted with the kids. The excitement was just getting started, right before the sample came to an end.
Fortunately, Finlay still feels like an old friend you slip right back into conversation with, and she’s absolutely worth the wait. I’ll definitely be picking up the full version when it publishes on March 17.
Thank you, NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This is based off of the first 12 chapters I was given by netgalley for free in exchange for honest review. I am sooooo excited to see my girlies again!!!! I am loving the relationship Finlay and Vero have. It’s so precious and sisterly. I really like the small way Nick has been involved throughout the book too even though he isn’t as main character as he has been in previous books. I’m excited and anxious to see how a certain something (iykyk) might turn out between them 👀 One complaint is the naming of real life people/situations like Luigi Mangione (as hottie as is he is lol). I’m just not a fan of present day books doing stuff like that.
providing a rating based on the 12-chapter preview!!
I'll admit, I did not read the description at first, I had no idea what I was in for! I love the concept of this one - Finlay, Vero, Javi, and Ramon must band together for another problem ... solving a crime from Vero's past.
I love this mismash of characters, Finlay going on adventures and also Vero's sass.
I was lucky enough to receive a full copy of this book and I have to say, this is one of my favorites of the series. This book never had a slow moment and it was great to finally get justice for Vero. I loved the addition of new characters (her mom and aunt) and the steadfast nature of old ones (Nick). I liked seeing the relationship between Javier and Vero blossom even more and I can't wait for the next installment. I eat these books up. They are some of the easiest reads for me and they go by so quickly. I am left wanting more and more!
Chapters 1-12 review. Ahhh I can’t wait to get my hands on the rest of this book. As always, Finley, Vero and the gang are highly entertaining, way over the top and SO MUCH FUN!! Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to review.
A fun installment of the Finlay Donovan series! Not my most favorite of the series but still an enjoyable little mystery. Received from the Libro.FM librarian alc program.
3.5⭐As I was only able to read the first 12 chapters, this rating may change.
This book is the sixth in the series and feels promising. The storyline is getting better as the series goes on, the first 3 books were the weakest but I did enjoy the two that followed. Vero' s predicament is the main subject in this installment and Finley, Jack, and Ramon are all helping her to clear her name for a money theft from the previous year. How has only 1 year passed since the series started? Nick is as charming as ever and I am looking forward to reading the rest.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this novel.
This review is for the 12 chapter sample. This series has become a guilty pleasure of mine. Finlay and Vero’s shenanigans and comedic timing are always entertaining and make for a fun read! Chapter 12 ended just when the story was picking up pace, so I’ll be anxiously awaiting the release of the book!
Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and Netgalley for access to the ARC sample!
Thank you NetGalley for a sample of the first 12 chapters of the book. I am hooked and cannot wait until March to read the rest of Finlay and Vero's shenanigans.
A huge thanks to NetGalley for this ARC sample, I was so glad to jump back into the world of Finlay Donovan and her partners in crime early!
I’ve said before - I’ll never get tired of reading about Finlay, Vero, and all the shenanigans they get up to. The premise of this book is similar to others in the series - but this time, Finlay and friends are attempting to solve a crime to clear Vero’s name, and even just in 12 chapters, I’m fully hooked and can’t wait to read more about what happens. I’m already loving some of the new characters in this one, like Vero’s mom and auntie. I’ve always loved Elle Cosimano’s humor and particularly the banter between Finlay and Vero. I have so many questions and can’t wait for March to read the rest!
I really enjoyed this book. I was gifted an ARC of the book and was super excited to win a book drawing!
Finlay and Vero are up to their shenanigans again! The storyline is great and detailed. I really like how all characters are involved and I really enjoyed the ending…although now I can’t wait for the next one!!
My thanks to Netgalley, St. Martin's Press and Elle Cosimano for the SAMPLE of the eARC of this book in exchange for a review.
Let's just get this out of the way, first things first and all that jazz: I LOVE the Finlay Donovan series. I own all of Cosimano's books and was immediately a fan of Finlay within the first few chpaters of book one, Finlay Donovan is Killing It. I've only had the chance to read the first 12 chapters of this entry but I wish with my whole heart that I had the entire book in my hands. I swear, I read this in a couple of hours, in between baths and bedtime stories for my kids. I finished the entirety of book 5 yesterday and that last line had me floored. I was so grateful I had this sample to read but good grief, it leaves me hanging AGAIN and now I have to wait so long to finish this book. It's the holidays, so I'm just going to say it: Bah Humbug.
Finlay Donovan Crosses the Line follows Finlay to Maryland, on a mission to help Vero who has been extradied back home on charges for theft. Vero swears she did not steal the money from her sorority, where she was treasurer, but without the guy she was with available to alibi her, she fled the state. Vero is now living with her mom and her aunt on house arrest and things are getting serious as a stalker is sending threatening messages to the house. Now Finlay is determined to solve the case to help her best friend and nanny to clear her name and get her back home.
This is a case that has been in the works for this series for a while so I'm glad Cosimano has made it the focus for the next book. I have hated having this hanging over Vero's head so I'm ready for Finlay and Vero to finally figure out who was behind the theft and clear Vero's name. The two of them together are brilliant and I would hate it if the pair of them were kept apart for future books, which I hope this series ia going to go on for a while. Each book keeps me riveted, usually smiling, sometimes laughing, and sometimes, especially with book 5, almost gobsmacked because I did NOT see that reveal coming and I I LOVE that I can't guess the outcomes of these books before the 70% mark. I love the sass and the trust and the devotion between these two women, the support they give each other through EVERYTHING that they have gone through is astounding. I wish I had someone in my life like Finlay and Vero do, seriously, I envy these two.
Cosimano has a real knack for making the stakes in these books something that keeps me coming back over and over to read them. I've read the series over at least 3 times by now because I love these stories. I love all the side characters from Finlay's kids, Delia and Zach, to her nosy neighbor Mrs. Haggerty, her boyfriend Nick and her "guy in the chair" Cam. I could do without Steven, I'll be honest, but that's just the way I am, I would have left him to rot so many times but Finlay is a better person than me so he's still around. The reveals and the clues keep me guessing and the endings always make the whole book worth the journey of reading it.
This book is sure to be awesome, what I've read of it was not enough, I want to finish reading the whole book already. I'd inhale it in one sitting, guaranteed. Cosimano wastes no time getting the characters in place and starting the investigation and I have no idea who the true culprit is but I will have to wait to find out. Countdown to March and the book's official release beginning NOW.
Well? Is it March yet??
If you love Finlay Donovan, this book needs to be added to your pre-order list. I already have my copies ordered, the hardcover to go on my shelves and the digital for me to read in one hand while I do everything else at the same time. If you haven't read this series yet, grab a copy of book 1 and try it out. These books are so much fun, you are missing out if you have not read them.
Rating on my scale? 10 stars, ALL THE STARS, seriously, tell me the truth yet, is it March? Inquiring minds need to know!
Title: Finlay Donovan Crosses the Line Series: Finlay Donovan #6 Author: Elle Cosimano Publisher: St. Martin’s Press-Minotaur Books Genre: Mystery Thriller, Humor Pub Date: March 17, 2026 My Rating: 4 -on First Twelve Chapters Pages: 368 not sure about pages of Sample
Story picks up after Book #5 “Finlay Donovan Digs Her own Grave” when Finn's nanny and best friend Vero aka Veronica Ramirez had been Extradition and is on house arrest back in her home town until she goes to court for allegedly stealing illegally gained gambling money from her sorority. But no one has any faith in her lawyer or the police, so Finlay and Vero's boyfriend Javi come to help her out. Dunn wants to help but her parents are sick with the flu. Adorable Nick volunteers to watch the kids. Finn loves him so but he ho experience with taking care of littlie ones. He assures he he can do it and wants her to go and help Vero.
Unfortunately this was a “Sampler” and we mystery thrillers readers know that the beginning 180 pages are setting us up for the ‘fun stuff’ the reason we read mystery thrillers. Difficult to rate an unfinished story when as I fan I know I will love it.
A comment made after reading #5 ~ I enjoyed this- in fact I liked it BEST in this fun series. As a faithful Finn reader, I have already put #6 on my TBR list. I don’t know the title but something along the lines of “The Extradition of the Babysitter or Who is Veronica Ramirez?”
I realized that these titles were not good as it needs to have Finlay Donovan in it!
Thank you NetGalley and Saint Martin’s Press ~Minotaur Books for this early eGalley. Publishing Release Date scheduled for March 17, 2026.
Life for Finlay has been really hard without her friend and nanny, Vero. She and the kids both can not wait to get her home, but to do that she needs to be found innocent in Virginia of stealing money from her sororities illegal gambling nights. Vero has always said she didn’t do it but being the only sorority scholarship sister and Hispanic, she ran away that night and that just made her look that much guiltier. Now she must prove her innocence or go to prison for a long time. The only way Finlay can go help Vero is to find someone to take the kids for a few days so she can go up there and investigate because Vero’s public defender isn’t going to help, only there is no one to help with them. Her Ex is away, her sister is to busy at work, her parents are just getting over the flu. When Nick volunteers she is reluctant but gives in and leaves. Now Finlay needs to find out who really did this and free her friend so they can go home but time is ticking fast. If you like Finlay Donovan books this one will not disappoint. While there are no Russian mobsters in this book there is still loads of action, and a new nosy neighbor who is running a poll on social media on what type of underwear women think Nick wears. There is also a lot of suspense on all the fronts going on in the book. I just love these characters and it makes you think could all of this possibly happen to one person. The storylines have all fit together really well and are the kind that keep you up late reading just to see what happens next, because it is bound to be funny. I really love this book and series. review copy provided by Netgalley
OMG - I saw FDCTL and that is all - my heart fluttered and I excitedly pushed the "read now" button. I should have read the offer more closely (see below!).
Can you imagine my distress? I tore into the book, madly flipping pages, only to come to a screeching halt (double entendre intended...in fact, I, too was screeching, and still am). My excitement was brutally cut-off after reaching only about a third of novel! (again, see below!)
My beloved characters have joined forces FINALLY to get justice for unjustly accused and prosecuted, Vero! We all know that she didn't steal the Sorority funds, but all the evidence points in her direction. Anyone who can vindicate her, is either lying or in hiding or possibly the actual thief. ...
The gangs all here, supporting and searching while Vero stubbornly tags along with a screeching ankle monitor as she violates the terms of her house arrest (an awful lot of screeching going on).
And whodunnit? I DON'T KNOW, because I didn't read beyond the title being offered. It turns out that if I had read "the small print" on the "read now" offer, I would have known that I was requesting only a 12 Chapter Sampler of the book!!!!!!
In the screeching words of all my granddaughters over the years- "IT'S NOT FAIR...." that I have to wait until publication date to read all the rest of the shenanigans the gang will get into and how (if at all) they will finally catch the villain who stole the Sorority funds and set Vero up for the fall.
I'm reserving the fifth star for when I get to read the final chapters of the book!
Oh Finlay! Back at it again with the chaos. Shocking? Not even a little bit, but I loved every second of it. Going into this one, I genuinely wasn’t sure what direction the story would go or which characters we’d be spending the most time with, and that uncertainty made it even more fun to dive into. I was so happy that this turned into a full blown rescue mission for Vero, because finally getting to peel back the layers of her past was everything I didn’t know I needed.
The deeper character development added so much emotional weight, while still keeping the humor and ridiculous shenanigans that make this series so addicting. Finlay and Vero’s chemistry is absolutely unmatched, witty, heartfelt, and perfectly chaotic in the best way. This duo had me smiling one moment and laughing out loud the next, especially with the nonstop antics woven throughout this book. A highlight was definitely them coming up with every idea possible to trick the ankle monitoring system, just downright hilarious.
This book struck such a great balance between humor, heart, and suspense, and it left me completely satisfied while also desperate for more. Dare I say it? I’m already counting down until the next book. Please, keep them coming. I’m not ready to let these characters go anytime soon, we need to know more about that “piece of evidence”.
Huge thanks to Elle Cosimano, St. Martin’s Press, and NetGalley for this ARC!
I am officially spiraling! Having just finished the first 12 chapters of Finlay Donovan Crosses the Line, I can say with full confidence that Elle Cosimano has not lost her touch. If anything, the stakes feel higher, the humor feels sharper, and the mess... well, the mess is bigger than ever.
The Dynamic Duo is Back The absolute highlight of this series has always been the relationship between Finlay and Vero. Starting these chapters felt like catching up with old friends, if your old friends were constantly dodging the police and getting tangled up in accidental crime syndicates. Their chemistry and frantic energy are what make this series so special, and these opening chapters dive straight back into the heart of their "ride or die" friendship.
The Ultimate Tease These 12 chapters are amazing!! They give you just enough to get your heart racing and remind you why you fell in love with this storyline, only to leave you hanging right when things get juicy! It is the ultimate tease for what is clearly going to be an explosive journey.
A Special Thank You A huge thank you to the author Elle Cosimano, Minotaur Books, and NetGalley for providing these first 12 chapters. Getting this early look has only solidified my obsession with this series!
I am officially counting down the days until the full release in March. If the rest of the book is as fast-paced and witty as this opening, we are all in for a wild ride. Mark your calendars—Finlay is back!
