New York Times bestselling author Juliette Cross returns with a new scorching dark romantasy in her The Fire That Binds trilogy. The fate of a powerful witch who can control men with one taste of their blood and a fierce dragon collide.

A spellbinding gift...
A plea answered by the gods...
An unforgiving world where dragons rule Rome.

Lela Bihari’s village was invaded on her wedding night, her betrothed murdered right in front of her. While her sisters were either dragged away or escaped, Lela was sold to Valerius, a consul of Rome.

When she tried to kill Valerius her first night as his slave, her bloodsinger gift manifested… and she was punished for it. Now she’s paraded in front of the other senators for their amusement.

But Trajan Tiberius, the newly elected tribune to the senate, is different. He has no love for the brutality around him. When he frees Lela from enslavement and hides her, Lela is set on a path of vengeance, and using her gift puts her in more danger than ever before.

Now trapped inside the walls of Rome while deathriders circle the skies, how can she possibly trust a Roman dragon? Especially when it is clear Trajan has ulterior schemes of his own? As her powers grow stronger, danger draws closer, and Lela realizes it isn't just her life at stake, but also her heart.

Bloodsinger is a fantasy with some dark themes, including elements of master/slave relationship, attempted sexual assault, and dubious consent--none of which is between the MCs. There is also a scene of self-jury. Readers who may be sensitive to these elements, please take note.

Damn!!! This one had me on the edge of my seat. I loved this pairing so much and the Bloodsinger magic was so epic!

Bloodsinger introduces us to Lela, another powerful witch, and sister to Malina. Lela's village was invaded on her wedding night and she was sold into slavery in Rome. She never saw her sisters again, nor learned what became of them. Her life has been horrible and heartbreaking since then. Though her gift as a bloodsinger had manifested once when she tried to escape, she never had the chance to learn how to use it. Leaving her plaything for an evil creature named, Valerius.

After Julian and Malina made a spectacle of their escape and Julian, the nephew of Caesar, was outed as a traitor, Trajan and the other resistance members have had to lay even lower than before. Everyone is under suspicion and danger lurks everywhere. One wrong move and it could snuff out the rebellion before they can make anything happen.

When Lela finally snaps and kills her abuser, Trajan comes across her moments after and risks it all to reveal what's happening behind the scenes to her. But Lela has known only harm and pain at the hands of dragons in Rome, so forming any kind of alliance with him is a very high ask. However, she doesn't really have a choice but to trust him, or be recaptured and made an example of.

There's also the very inconvenient truth that Trajan discovers: Lela is his mate. Which is very cruel twist of fate.

As Trajan continues to prove his good intentions and tries to smuggle Lela out of the city, she can't help but start to see his vision of the future. A free Rome. With no more slaves, a voice for the common people, and no cruel dragon overlords. It seems impossible, but it feels like something Lela's sisters would have dreamed of. And maybe, love is something she can dream of again too.

I truly enjoyed diving back into this series. I love how the story as a whole was built up on and I really liked how it all still feels impossible. I know that sounds weird, but the danger and pain are VERY real. We see people die and their are very high costs. So this isn't a walk in the park. It takes courage and sacrifice, but we get to see little wins along the way.

And I am SO hyped for the next book. The tease for the next Bihari sister was INSANE!!!

I listened to this mostly on audio, and it was narrated by Blair Dade & Kale Williams. They did such a great job. I was so locked into this story the whole time.

4.5 Stars
2 on the spice scale

CW: ontains dark themes, including slavery in Ancient Rome and self-injury (this has to do with magic), there is also quite a bit of blood, violent death and torture, SA is referenced as well.

*Thank you to the author and publisher for an ARC & ALC of this title. Also, I am friends with the author, so I am calling that out here."

This story is technically a standalone from the first book. However, I do recommend reading Firebird first before diving into this one. The mash up of Ancient Rome and Dragon Shifters as Romans still has me in a choke hold, and I'm very excited to see where this series is going.

Minor Spoilers Ahead:

Lela, like her sister Malina, has magic powers. However, hers are magical powers of the blood and once she tastes the blood of someone, she can make them do whatever she wants. When her village was attacked on her wedding night, she was captured by the vicious Roman nobleman, Valerius. She has spent 3 year since her capture as a gagged slave, so she cannot bite Valerius or any of his Roman friends or slaves and earn her freedom with her bloodsinger magic.

Trajan Sapphirus Tiberius has left is position as second in command for General Julianus Ignis Dakkia revealed himself as a traitor to Rome. Trajan was able to arrive at Ceasar's palace in time to break the news of Julian's betrayal himself and profess that he had no knowledge of Julian's treacherous dealings. Ceasar then appointed Trajan as a member of the Roman Senate.

Trajan has continued his work for creating and organizing a coup against the current Ceasar Emperor Igniculus. But with Julian's departure, there is no head of an army, and they must recruit more firepower before they make any moves to behead the Ceasar.

The political intrigue in this book is THICK, and the details of enslavement are graphic. So, if neither of those things are for you, then you might need to move on to the next book. But I was ENTHRALLED. Can't wait for the next one!

I liked this just as much as Firebird. I was disappointed that the story of Malina and Julian was not continued, but the story of Lela and Trajan was just as good.

It was so satisfying when Lena was finally able to rid herself of the abusive Valerius. I personally was more satisfied when that POS Quintus met his demise.

Lela eventually found her sister Malina towards the end of this book and it was such a sweet reunion. There will be more of all 4 MC in the final installment (Deathrider) coming out in 2/27 as they go to war against the tyrannical Caesar. AND, In the preview of Deathrider at the end of the book, we find the third living sister, Kostanya. Who knows what the 3 sisters can do when they are all together at last?

Thank you to NetGalley for the Audiobook ARC of Bloodsinger by Juliette Cross!

I loved this one even more than book one — and that was a four-star read for me — so this one easily topped it. The story leans darker and with political intrigue that didn't get boring. I listened to the whole book in 2 days. Definitely a slow burn romance that builds naturally with the plot and never feels forced. High five to the author because fast would have been jarring.

Lela and Trajan completely had me. The tension, honesty and the emotional restraint… it all simmers in the best way before finally delivering. I’m so glad I got to experience their story.

The audiobook was narrated by Blair Dade and Kale Williams, and they both did an excellent job! Their performances really brought the emotion and intensity to life, and I’ll definitely be looking for more books narrated by them.

And that setup for book three?? I’m already impatient but here for the wait.

This is the second in a romantasy series set in Ancient Rome ... but with dragons!

First: Yes, this is a version of Rome that doesn't let you forget about the enslaved population. The FMC of this book and the previous one were both captured and sold as "spoils of war." Also note that the MMCs of both books are patrician Roman dragons who own slaves (although in this book, the MMC harbors the FMC when she escapes from her abusive owner).

Second: Yes, a part of the overarching series plot is that these specific dragons want to overthrow the ruling powers of Rome and remake society. Just know that you're entering into a fantasy where they're GOOD GUYS who just have to go along with the existing power structure for now so they can survive to lead the revolution.

Third: There's a lot of violence, both implied and explicit, including SA.

Finally: The FMC's magic powers only work after she's tasted someone's blood, so she runs around licking knives and wounds, which I personally found a little on the gross side.

If you don't have any objections to the above, Bloodsinger also includes nonstop action, steamy scenes, fun dragon shifters, a perfectly evil villain it's really enjoyable to hate, and a ridiculous (complimentary) Roman AU.

This objective review is based on a complimentary copy of the novel.

Even better than book one!(Which I didn't think would happen...Julian and Malina were FIRE.)BUT...I absolutely loved the story of Trajan and Lela. It was that touch her and die, caring protective relationship. They have passion, but really sweet moments! Spice was slow burn but really hot. 🔥This build up for the finale is amazing!!! I cannot wait to read Alaric and Anya's story next year!!

I’m confused…did we read the same book?? How are there so many 4 or 5 stars?

To me, this was pointless. There was no story here. A slave girl escapes and then hides the whole book. Oh and there’s some spice thrown in. That’s the whole book.

You saw the ending coming from a mile away and the whole plot of book 1, to kill Caesar, still doesn’t happen in this book. Off to book 3 now.

Obsessed this is even better than the first book! I love when a series stays in the same world but follows different couples as the main plot still moves along kinda in the background. Are we still working towards tearing down Rome and its inequality for a better world yes! And characters pop back in at parts from the first book to help make the world feel more cohesive. Love that we’re following three powerful sisters as they find love and master their power. This story was great I really love Trajan and Lela’s romance. The gentle way he cared for her and earned her trust and the easy and natural way the relationship built was phenomenal. Both narrators did a great job adding emotion and bringing the characters to life. Thanks to the author publisher and Netgalley for this ALC

Review copy was received from NetGalley. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Bloodsinger by Juliette Cross is the second book in the The Fire that Binds series, and it completely pulled me into its dark, brutal, and emotionally charged world.

This dark romantasy is set in an alternate ancient Rome where dragon shifters hold power. The story follows Lela, a young woman stolen from her village as spoils of war and forced into slavery under a cruel master named Valerius. Once vibrant and deeply connected to her family and traditions, Lela arrives in the story as a broken, hollowed-out shell—until a magical gift from the goddess Minerva begins to spark something back to life inside her.

Her path crosses with Trajan, a powerful dragon shifter newly elected to the Senate. Trajan is walking an incredibly dangerous line. He was once second-in-command to Julius—the dragon whose devastating rampage through the city made him a legend and a traitor to Rome. Now Trajan must convince Caesar of his unwavering loyalty, not just for his own survival, but to protect his grandfather and sisters. Beneath that carefully maintained mask, he’s on a mission to destroy Rome and Caesar from within.

What I loved most was the slow, careful building of trust between Lela and Trajan. Given everything Lela has endured, Trajan is remarkably patient with her, giving her the time and space she needs to heal. Their bond grows gradually as he helps hide her after her daring escape and as she begins to explore the magic Minerva has gifted her. They connect through shared goals and hard-won honesty, making their relationship feel earned and deeply satisfying.

The world-building is excellent. Juliette Cross takes the bones of Roman history and the Roman pantheon and twists them into something fresh and compelling. The stark divide between classes, Caesar’s iron grip on the Senate and the people, and the vicious sycophants surrounding him create a tense, oppressive atmosphere filled with fantastic villains.

This book doesn’t pull punches. It explores heavy themes of slavery, revenge, trauma, and the strength it takes to break free from both physical and mental cages. There are heartbreaking moments, especially in Lela’s story and the tragic tale of the white dragon, which left me desperate for her to find revenge and freedom.

Minerva has gifted magic to three sisters, and with Bloodsinger we now have the stories of two of them. I’m eagerly waiting for the final book to see how everything comes together and what it will ultimately take to bring down Rome.

Bloodsinger is not a light read—this is dark romantasy with teeth, and it’s definitely not for the faint of heart. If you’re looking for a gritty, emotionally raw story with slow-burn romance, political intrigue, dragon shifters, and characters who must find their inner strength to survive, this series is worth diving into. Just heed the warning: it’s not for summer children.

Narration:
Performance: ★★★★
Character Separation: ★★★★
Diction: ★★★★
Pacing/Flow: ★★★★★
Sound Effects: None

Both narrators Blair Dade and Kale Williams return to the Fire that Binds series as the narrators.  Kale has a long history of books he has narrated and his comfort with audio performances showed again in Bloodsinger.  He brought Trajan's voice to life as he made his performance convincing.  He captured the struggle to protect not only himself but his sisters and Lela.  His voice is rich and decadent, it was easy to see why his catalog of books was so long.  Blair Dade is newer to audio narration, but held her own in this story.  Her voice is one I think I'll see more and more in books and I enjoyed her interpretation of Lela.  She was able to show both the vulnerabilities and strength within her character.  Her pacing and performance stood up well against Williams PoV chapters which is a feat in and of itself.

Bloodsinger by Juliette Cross — ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ (4.5 stars)
Yay,we get more of Trajan, and honestly? I ate that up.

Lela starts this story having all but given up, surviving as a slave, and watching her claw her way back to herself was so satisfying. That revenge arc? Immaculate. The feminine rage in this one really hits, and I loved how much the overall story progressed alongside it.

Trajan is such a green flag it’s unreal. The way he cares for Lela, especially in their more intimate moments, is handled with so much tenderness and respect for everything she’s been through. And getting more of him and his dragon? Elite.

One of my favourite things about this series is how each couple gets their moment while still building the bigger, interconnected plot, and the tension is definitely rising. I’m already dreading what César is going to do next, but at the same time, I need these women (and his sister!) to absolutely ruin him.

Overall, I loved this book, definitely my favourite in the series so far, and I’ll 100% be continuing.

Going into this book I expected it to continue directly from book one’s FMC, so I was definitely surprised when I realized this was actually a different character’s story. At first it threw me off a bit, but the way everything starts connecting later on honestly makes you understand exactly why this book exists in the series.

This book is fast paced in the best way there’s always something happening and it keeps you fully engaged from start to finish. I really loved Lela; she’s powerful, confident, and fully comes into her own throughout the story. And Trajan? Total cinnamon roll for her. He’s protective in a really healthy way he never tries to dim her or control her. Even when he wants to keep her safe, he still sees her as his equal and gives her space to use her power and make her own choices, which I loved.

Overall, it was a really strong continuation of the series and I’m even more excited for book 3. I can’t wait to see how everything comes together and watch them all work toward taking down the empire.

I loved this one even more than book one.

Everything just leveled up the stakes, the pacing, the tension. The story leans darker with more political intrigue, but it never slows down. I flew through this and could not put it down.

Lela and Trajan completely had me. The tension between them, the restraint, the way everything simmers before it finally gives you just enough… it was so well done. Their relationship feels earned, and the slow burn works perfectly with the story instead of against it.

I had the ALC for this one, and the narration was excellent. It added so much emotion and intensity to the story and made it even harder to stop listening.

I’m also obsessed with how the bigger picture is starting to come together. You can feel the threads of the series tightening, and it has me so excited (and slightly stressed) for what’s coming next.

And I NEED to talk about Caesar’s sister…the white dragon?? I have so many questions and I am dying to know where her story goes. Between that and the setup for sister #3, I am completely locked into this series.

That epilogue?? Yeah… I’m not okay. I need book three immediately. Thanks to Bramble and Macmillan audio for the ARC and ALC.

Bloodsinger by Juliette Cross is the second book in the Fire That Binds Series and I absolutely loved it! I enjoyed the first book, Firebird, but this one was even better. I loved how this one centered around a different couple (Lela and Trajan), but still dived deeper into the world building and the political intrigue of the main plot. The romance was a slow burn and so well done that it had me rooting for them from beginning to end. I also loved how Lela took back control of her own fate early on in the book. Now I need to figure out how to wait for book 3! Thank you to @NetGallery @MacmillianAudio and @JulietteCross for the ARC for a honest review, I loved it!

Bloodsinger plunges readers back into the brutal, dragon-ruled world of The Fire That Binds trilogy with heart-pounding drama and rich character development. The story centers on Lela Bihari, a fierce and deeply scarred heroine whose bloodsinger magic, the terrifying ability to command others through the taste of their blood, awakens after her village is destroyed and she’s sold into slavery. From being paraded as a spectacle to reclaiming her bodily autonomy and agency, Lela’s arc is one of trauma, vengeance, and eventual empowerment as she learns to harness her gifts and rebuild her sense of self.

Opposite her stands Trajan Tiberius, a Roman tribune and dragon shapeshifter disgusted by the cruelties of his own society. His evolution from reluctant rescuer to committed ally and romantic partner adds emotional weight to the narrative. His kindness and moral conviction challenge Lela’s hardened worldview and help her see that survival and resistance can be intertwined with trust and connection.

The drama in Bloodsinger is driven by Lela’s internal struggles, balancing vengeance with compassion, and the external pressures of political machinations in a crumbling empire. Cross weaves intense action, dark themes, and a slow-burn romance that deepens both characters’ growth, making this installment a powerful, character-focused continuation that sets the stage for the trilogy’s finale which I'm impatiently waiting for!

“Bloodsinger,” by Juliette Cross

This book was honestly so cool. Imagine ancient Rome but with dragons, witches, and gods running everything. The world-building alone had me hooked. The story follows Lela, a powerful witch whose magic lets her control men with just a taste of their blood, which is honestly such a wild and dangerous power. After her village is destroyed, she’s taken as a slave to Rome, where dragons rule the empire and witches are both feared and used for their magic. The romance dynamic is all tension and suspicion at first, because they come from completely different worlds and neither of them trusts the other. But as they’re forced to work together, the chemistry builds in that slow, sharp way that makes every interaction feel loaded. I loved the mix of Roman politics, gods interfering in mortal lives, dragons flying around the empire, and witches with dangerous magic. It made the world feel huge and dramatic, like something that would honestly translate perfectly into a TV series.

5 out of 5 stars. The mix of Roman empire vibes, dragons, witches, and enemies-to-lovers tension was so entertaining. I could absolutely see this being an amazing show someday. I actually listened to this one as an audiobook, and the narration was really good. The voices fit the characters well and the pacing was perfect — sometimes audiobooks feel too slow or too rushed, but this one felt really easy to get into.

Lela is a Dacian dancer whose goddess blessed bloodsinger trait manifests after she is captured on her wedding night and enslaved by Valerius, a consul of Rome. If Lela tastes a man's blood, she can command him to do her will. So Valerius keeps her muzzled with an elaborate gold headpiece. When Trajan Tiberius, senate tribune, sees her, he's appalled at her treatment and wants to help save her from Valerius as much as he wants to bring Valerius down himself. As Trajan begins to make his political moves, Lela takes her freedom into her own hands. In the dangerous world of a Rome where the powerful are also dragon shifters, Lela and Trajan work to make the right alliances that could eventually lead to the downfall of the Emperor.

Like Firebird, this is created to binge: the fantasy elements are interesting but uncomplicated, and the worldbuilding is well-constructed for an easy read. I find the series a compelling romantasy, and appreciate the way Juliette Cross gives Lela agency to reclaim her bodily autonomy. Her bloodsinging power not only allows her to protect herself, but enables her to be a part of the solution.

It's always a little harder to review a second book in a series, since much of the analysis relies on knowledge from the first book. Bloodsinger doesn't add much extra depth to the series, but maintains the momentum of the series in this dark reimagined ancient Rome. If you liked the first book, you'll like this one. The relationship between Trajan and Lela is different from that of Julius and Malina from Firebird: while there is a power differential of dragon and someone who has been enslaved, there is a dynamic of equals because Trajan has never owned Lela and he immediately offers her his blood, demonstrating he is willing to submit to her power.

The audiobooks for this series are narrated by Blair Dade and Kale Williams, and are an enjoyable experience for anyone who loves to listen to their books. I do find that the worldbuilding is light touch enough on details that it's still easy to digest if you listen.

Thank you to Bramble for an eARC and MacMillan Audio for an ALC. Bloodsinger is out 4/7/2026.

Audiobook ♾️
Spice 2🌶️
Story ♾️
One word: Phenomenal

Bloodsinger by Juliette Cross is book 2 in The Fire That Binds Trilogy. While in the first book we just scratch the surface of the world building and politics of this fantastic Roman Empire, in this book we go deeper into it, we get closer to the Cesar and his tyranny over the people. We learn more about the magic system and the style of magic existent. I will have to say this book is a beautiful fantastic metaphor, however, I will let you figure out why.
This time we follow a different couple. Lela and Trajan, who stole my heart, and the connection with the first book is so coherent and makes me so excited for the last book of the series.
Lela is such a strong FMC, with a very dark past. Juliette has created a complex character, with trauma that gets her autonomy back, and finds herself again. She is a very powerful witch, with quiet strength, bravery and putting out phenomenal fight. Feminine rage is one of my most favourite tropes and this woman builds back her backbone.
Now let's talk about one of the most adorable, delicious dragon shifters ever written. Trajan is a kind soul, with his dragon-side loving Lela, deeply and unashamedly. He is sweet and protective in the most adoring way.

Audiobook: We are reunited with Kale Williams as Trajan and Blair Dade as Lela and they are absolutely magical. While this is a dual style, they did an amazing job immersing us and themselves in these characters and giving us a splendid performance.

Thank you, Bramble and Juliette Cross, for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Whilst I thought the previous instalment, Firebird, had a lot of problems and decidedly didn't live up to its potential, I still felt intrigued by the world and intrigue to give the second one a try. And I would say this one has improved in many ways over its predecessor.

First and foremost, the relationship between the two main characters is not between a slave and her master. There is still a massive power imbalance, but I was a lot more comfortable with Trajan and Lela's dynamic than I ever was with Marina and Julian's. To clarify, Lela is a slave whom Trajan meets in a visit to consul Valerius' house and it is made clear she's been abused by him. Later on, Trajan helps to free Lela from her enslavement and hides her away in his house until he can get her out of Rome. Her life is still very much dependent on him but there is at least a promise of freedom and agency.

One of my main issues with the previous instalment was how little we get to see (and understand) Malina's power, but in Bloodsinger that is no longer a worry. Lela's power is introduced to us early on as she is forced to wear a muzzle so she cannot use her magic after a failed attempt at murdering her master. We get to see her slowly get the grip of her power and become stronger over time. And, honestly, her power slays. With a taste of anyone's blood, she gains control over them. That's a pretty cool power.

On this note, Trajan giving up his agency by freely offering his blood to Lela was definitely a nice touch and added major points to the romance and his character. The tension between the two is ever present, but I like that Trajan is always very careful to respect Lela's boundaries and everything happens on her rhythm rather than his.

As for the characters themselves, I wish we had gone a little deeper. Similarly to the first book, I still think we only get very surface-level characters, but this instalment was slightly worse still. Where the first one was very focused on the domestic life of Julian and Malina, this one went full in on the political intrigue aiming at starting a revolution in Rome. So, while the action was definitely packed, it came at a cost of further character development.

Having said this, I still feel like the pacing was not super smooth. I was absolutely locked in up until about 70% of the book and then I feel like we get a lot of back and forth that is not necessarily logical, before returning to Rome. The ending was at least very fast paced and fun to read. I'm intrigued to see where the third book will take us with a non-slave main character, which is exciting!

Firstly thank you to MacMillan Audio for providing me with the ALC for this book. I absolutely loved the audio.

Okay but Bloodsinger (book 2 in the series)?? I think I liked this one even more than Firebird 🔥

This is an interconnected standalone, so while it picks up right where Firebird left off, we’re following a new set of characters, specifically the sister of the previous FMC. And wow… her story is so much heavier.
Lena has spent the past three years in slavery after being separated from her sister, enduring a brutally cruel dominus that’s left her spirit nearly broken. The only thing keeping that spark alive? A whispered story about a slave who escaped on the back of a traitor dragon 🐉 That tiny piece of hope was everything, and watching it grow into something stronger was honestly so powerful.

This book definitely leans darker than Firebird, but that’s also what made it hit harder for me. Lena’s resilience, even when she feels completely defeated, was so compelling to read. Her strength doesn’t come easy, and it feels earned.

She also forms an alliance with someone she absolutely does not want to trust, especially given everything she’s been through. And of course… feelings start to get involved 😭 The tension?? The internal conflict?? The fact that he’s one of the dragon-shifting Romans makes it all even more complicated.

✨ darker tone
✨ forced proximity
✨ reluctant allies
✨ slow-burn romance
✨ emotional healing

This one just had a bit more emotional depth for me, and I was so invested in Lena’s journey the entire time. If you liked Firebird, I definitely recommend continuing the series. This one really stood out for me.

The Fire That Binds is turning in a multi-layered series that I'm invested in. I don't think I'd really realised when reading book one, that the sisters were going to be the premise for each book. Lela (this book's FMC) was the sister of Malina from book one. She was literally muzzled so that her ability to manipulate blood through her voice was impossible.

This story had a small echo of Dumas' Man in the Iron Mask. Lela had all my empathy and I felt her fierceness emanating from behind her mask. Trajan, a tribune in Caesar's court was a dissenter, undercover and working towards a different Rome with his Grandfather as a fellow ally.

Rome and Caesar remained vile, misogynistic, corrupt and debauched. There were many scenes that were discomforting but seemed to authentically represent the regime in this story.

Lela was a strong, fierce and empowered woman. Her power dynamic with Trajan and his empowerment of Lela were satisfying. The story was frequently tense with small periods of joy and equilibrium.

I am desperate to see a story about the White Dragon. I hope we have that to come. I'm absolutely looking forward to Deathbringer and the next sister.

Thank you Tor Books for the review copy.

Audiobook review:
Dark, emotional, and completely addictive. Bloodsinger is even better than book one, especially on audio. The dual POV narration had amazing chemistry, and the distinct character voices made a large cast easy to follow. The final stretch and epilogue were standout moments, and I’m fully hooked on this trilogy. I received a complimentary ALC from NetGalley and Macmillan Audio, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I didn't realize that the series was interconnected standalone, but I like it! I loved the first book, and enjoyed this one almost as much. My only thing was that I didn't feel as much of an emotional connection between the fmc/mmc. There was so much going on with the revolution plot that they didn't really have time to connect emotionally as much as I wanted. Still enjoyed it a ton, and I can't wait to meet the author at ApollyCon this month.

2.5. Not as good as the first one. Too many similar plot points.
