***WARNING*** This book contains very disturbing situations, dubious consent, strong language, sexually explicit content and graphic violence.
PLEASE read Covered in Coal prior to reading Lies Beneath the Surface. Lies Beneath the Surface is NOT a cliffhanger.
Carly Jo Simon carries the weight of the world on her shoulders.
When she unearthed her daddy’s secrets, she had no idea the repercussions she would be faced to live with. Now, his secrets are her own to carry, as she fights to protect her sister Savannah from their daddy’s daunting past and their bastard brother Drew. Savannah wears a mask of perfection, shielding everyone from the reality of her personal imprisonment. When Savannah’s secrets are exposed, Carly stands by her, hand in hand, offering Savannah the comfort and strength she needs to move on.
Despite carrying the weight of other’s secrets on her back, Carly’s own secrets burden her deeply. Although she battled to keep her heart safely guarded from Colton Weston, he owns every inch of her. But when Carly turned her back on Colton and opened her arms to her best friend Luke, she made a mistake that could shatter all three of their lives.
They all have something to hide. But it’s the secrets that lie beneath the surface that could destroy them all.
Lies Beneath the Surface (Buried Secrets #2) is set in the coal fields of Eastern Kentucky. The dialect used throughout this book is true Eastern Kentucky dialect. We drop our g’s, we say ya, instead of you, and a coal MINE, is a Coal MINES…please remember this when you are reading. It is NOT grammatical errors, it’s simply the dialect of the characters shining through, speaking as true Eastern Kentuckians.
Silla Webb is a Kentucky native, raised in the heart of the Eastern Kentucky coal fields. A coal truck driver's daughter, and a railroader's wife, the coal fields own a special place in her heart. She is a work at home, Super Momma to three rowdy boys, who keep her on her feet from daylight to sunset. As a pass time from her everyday life, Silla started a blog-Momma's Secret Book Obsession, for reviewing romance novels. From there, she realized that not only did she have a natural love for reading and reviewing, but she found that lost love of writing that she once had as a young girl. When she isn't conquering the world as a wife, momma and Super Woman, Silla loves to lay on the front porch swing and read while sipping sweet tea, just passin' the day away.
Beyond ecstatic to release Lies Beneath the Surface (Buried Secrets #2) on September 3, 2014. LBTS is darker than Covered in Coal (Buried Secrets #1), but you'll feel the angst, the gut wrenching heart ache that each character feels. So proud of this story. HEA-NO Cliff hanger
Well, I am a bit surprised with my reaction to this book. I liked the first book, Covered in Coal. However, I found this one harder to get through. In this sequel, we have all the lies about all our characters finally come to light. The truths are finally unveiled. The wrongs, well aren't really righted, but they're extremely wrong. But I was still left with some questions. Now this could be because I had to skim the last little bit of the book, I had kind of lost interest. So what happened with Drew? I know what happened with Josh..Drew, not so much. Who chased her off the road? Did we ever find out? Did James keep his law license or did Monica knock him down like she wanted to? Those are questions I still have.
Now let me explain. I am glad that Colton and Carly Jo are together, finally, after all the stuff they went through in book one (their history) they are finally together...wait, aren't they? they are, they aren't, they are, they aren't. I know angst is something a lot of people like, but this one had just a little too much of the back and forth for me. Once things finally started to fall in line, then it was like all chaos would ensue. And I'm sorry, but Savannah was making me mad. She was taking her crap out on Carly Jo, who clearly did not need it at that time. So it just bothered me. I think this is why I was having a hard time staying connected to the story. I wanted to know how it ended, I needed to know.. I'm one of those people. So I had to skim and once things got really interesting, then I would read everything...back to skimming...back to reading.
While I did really like the first book, this one just didn't hold my interest as much as the first one. Nothing against Silla's writing style, I think it was just how the story unfolded. I'm one of those readers who needs the drama and sexiness to hit and continue throughout, instead of a rollercoaster of up and down, up and down.
Absolutely brilliant. I thoroughly loved this story. Make sure you read book one before you read this one.
Carly Jos journey continues in this fantastic story. She's a really strong character but my heart bled for her at times. I love Colton. He knew what he wanted and went for it. Really hope there is a story for Luke soon and he finds happiness.
If your looking for a really good story with romance and suspense then I highly recommend this brilliant read:) well done to the author. I hope she is busy writing more great gems like this one.
I have been highly anticipating this book from the moment I finished covered in coal… so you can imagine my excitement when it showed up on my kindle… I had to dive right in and on the advice of Silla I had my tissues at the ready… I devoured this book with in a day, I was so consumed by this story, I totally lost track of time it kept me up most the night as I simply couldn’t put it down…. Silla’s writing as grown so much in this book and by 18% I was in tears and grabbing for the tissues and this speaks volumes about the book and the written words within it as I am a person who hardly ever cries full stop. So we were left at the end of covered in coal with the cliff hanger and this book picks right up where we were all left hanging, with Carly Jo an emotional mess over what should be the happiest time in her life as she is scared she may have screwed up her second chance with her soul mate Colton…. As the non-love triangle between Colton, Carly and Luke is played out I was taken on an ever moving roller coaster of emotions which has left me feel emotional drained not only by Carly Jo, Colton and Luke but also by sweet sweet Savannah, Carly Jo’s sister and as I got to see through her façade my heart went out to her…. I have never felt so attached to frictional characters as I do to Carly Jo, Colton, Luke, Savannah, Emma, Bill. Bradon, Brailee and Heidi Jo, I feel like they have climbed inside my head and heart and stuck themselves there allowing me to feel every emotion with them, the good, the bad and the horrific… I have cried, laughed, smiled, screamed and cried some more as I read this story…. I wanted to be able to make it right for them all and hurt the ones who had hurt them but I couldn’t I had to have faith in Silla and hope she did the right thing by them and I was not disappointed in the direction and ending this book took…. But be prepared for a fully bumpy ride with many a twist and turn from start to finish. This book literally covers it all from the happy ever after to the dark and sinister… as Carly Jo needs to let her Daddy’s secrets out and face the dark, greedy, selfish Drew… she finds out who really has her back in life… and it’s the people who make her happy and she considers family… all she needs to do is allow them inside her wall of armour….. This book does not leave you hanging but it leaves full of raw emotions yet content… I am excited to see what Silla brings to book three in the series and honestly can’t wait to have it in my hands as I want to continue on this journey with Carly Jo, Colton, Luke, Savannah, Emma, Bill. Bradon, Brailee and Heidi Jo. This review for me has been hard to write and convey the emotions and feels this book evoked in me and I can’t seem to find the words to do it true justice so I highly recommend you read it and experience it all for yourself.
Lies Beneath The Surface is an emotional Rollercoaster ride for most of the characters. It is amazing how many people think that if you bury secrets and lie to those that you are supposed to love, that you are protecting them. Unfortunately, throughout this series you find that it is more detrimental to the ones who are supposedly being protected. This is very true in life. We end up hurting the people we love the most by not sharing with them the things they need to know.
This book contains so much that I am finding it quite difficult to write my review without revealing any spoilers.
This book picks up where Covered In Coal leaves off. Carly Jo, Colton and Luke find themselves in a love triangle and they aren't sure how things will work out.
Carly Jo and Colton tend to push each other away to try to protect their hearts when things happen that they can't control. This is the time that they need each other the most to be able to work through the heartache to try to heal together. But both Carly Jo and Colton are stubborn and this often gets in the way of them moving forward. It is when they are together and touching that they feel the most calmness.
By dying and not revealing his business and personal secrets, Big John subjected his daughters to be targets. Carly Jo and Savannah loved their father and never really realized the horrible man he truly was.
I like how throughout both books we get some background history to understand why the characters may feel or do certain things. I also like that you get the different characters POVs.
I recommend this book because the storyline reels you in. I found it hard to put the book down because I wanted to find out what was going to happen next. It is hot and sexy one moment, emotional in others and suspenseful all the way through. This is an awesome series and I can't wait for the next book to be released.
This is book 2 in the Buried Secrets series. It is not a standalone. Must read in order. Please be aware and respectful that the terminology, grammar, etc.. all represent the geographical region for the story's setting. I was so anxious and excited for this book. CIC ended with such a breathe taking cliff hanger. There were so many questions left unanswered. I desperately needed to know what would happen- how it all would end. I began reading immediately and couldn't put it down. It was almost as if no time had passed. An absolute amazing pick up or continuation from where the first ended. The storyline very quickly became my surroundings. I became totally engrossed. Great inclusion of descriptive and setting appropriate terminology. Excellent writing and story telling is when a mental escape feels like reality. When the people around you say your name several times to get your attention(well that happened here with me). Every superb story must have attachable and entertaining characters. New, old, supporting, primary, it doesn't matter. Each one is vital to a successful plot. Those roles that grab your heart strings and play with your emotions. The ones that make you want to know and follow their journeys. This story was full of those personality types. There was an attraction and desire to know whether good or bad. What word describes it::EMOTIONAL WRECK. I actually had to stop reading and regroup several times. I was just so involved. I felt the pain. I felt the happiness. Oh, I felt the anger. There is no way not to feel like an emotional rag doll. There really isn't any way to prepare yourself. Just grab a case of KLEENEXES. It is so full of promise and hope. I will say it isn't always pretty. There is some strong and traumatic issues / events. I can't say enough. I highly recommend this wonderful book.(series). A 5 star rating really isn't enough. A MUST READ!!!! I can't wait for book three. AndreaGH
Lies Beneath the Surface is the second book of Buried Secrets series. The story picks up right where Covered in Coal has ended.
Silla did an awesome job to continue the story. If you were following this series, I'm sure you are aware that CIC ends in a "Kindle-throwing-cliffhanger". =) This book is so well written and it basically answers almost all the hanging questions from CIC. It is twisted and will held your attention from start to finish.
This book also covers the whole pregnancy of Carly-Jo and you will be in a helluva of roller coaster of emotions during those times and the anticipation of knowing who the baby Daddy is. You will also get a chance to peek in the head of other characters like Luke, Savannah and Josh; which I must say makes this series more interesting.
The title of this series clearly defines what you need to expect in this book.. too many secrets and lies enough to sucked you up into the story and found yourself craving for more as you reached the end of the book.
Furthermore, another reason I sonlove this series is because I fell in love with one of the characters and the interesting part is, he is the antagonist in this series. Almost everyone despised him but I love him like he really do exist! You know the erratic beating of your heart by just hearing someone's name, yeah! that happened! Drew Varney- i firmly believe everyone deserves second chances. I know he is not evil, he is just broken and I'm willing to endure the pain of picking up all the pieces so that he can have his redemption. (Ok, back to reality)
PS I just want to throw it out there that I am so proud of this author. I saw how much she has grown as a writer and I am so thankful for the privilege of getting to know her and read her books. Love yah!
I read Covered In Coal when it first released and have been anxiously waiting to see what was going to happen next. Huge Cliffhanger ending! I try my very best to always do spoiler free reviews and then one especially since it's all about secrets involved.
Lies Beneath the Surface picks right up where Covered In Coal ended. Carly Jo has been through so much because her Daddy's lies and secrets and now and she has to hold on to them as well. She also has to deal with some of her own until she has figured out what to do...she doesn't want to hurt anyone she cares about.
Savannah is Carly Jo's sister and she has her own secrets that she is keeping from everyone in her life. She is ashamed and just wants to hide behind the mask but what would happen if someone saw right through it?
I really felt for all the characters in the book even a little to the jackasses. You not only get Carly Jo's POV but also Colton, Luke and Savannah's. It was great to hear from all of their sides. You don't hear from Heidi Jo but Ashe is so frigging adorable and sassy.
Secrets from the past and present are uncovered and the twist and turns sure bring you on a ride. They sure do keep you on your toes while reading. I would highly recommend if you enjoy a emotional love story with some mystery. Great Job Silla!
Quotes:
"I've loved with every ounce of my being, only to have everything that I love, everything that made my life worth living, stripped from me. Never take the woman you love for granted."
"You ordered a double slice, because I'm eating for two...not my fault you can't count." I shrug.
"Well, it's true." She drags out her whiny voice. "That's what you say all the time when I get upset that you have to work. You say your boss may be pretty, but she's a big meanie."
First off I just want to say that I LOVE LOVE LOVE this series! LBTS picks up right where CIC ended. We all know that CIC ended with a huge and I mean HUGE cliffhanger. (Which by the way I totally hated, I remember sending Silla a message asking when book 2 was going to be out). We all wanted to know WHO IS THE DADDY! Of course I wanted it to be Colton I mean come on he is Colton. And Heidi-Jo would just love that! But honestly I had no clue who the daddy was. I wasn't a big Luke fan in CIC so that was another reason I wanted Colton to be the daddy. But I can say that after reading LBTS I am a HUGE Luke fan and he might just be up there with Colton now!
So in LBTS you go thur the whole 9 months that Carly-Jo is pregnant! Which by the way is a huge emotional roller coaster. Like I am not even kidding when I say your emotions one minute, your smiling and happy and then the next your are just crying like a baby. Then you have chapters where you are just pretty much crying the whole time. Like it broke my heart, reading some of it. Oh and then there are moments where you just want to scream. But at the same time you can't help but love all of these characters in this series. (well almost all -2 of them)
There are so many turns in this story that you never see coming. Lies that come to the Surface that you are like Holy Shit I so didn't see that. So with that being said my review will stop here because if I keep going I feel like I am going to give away some big secrets! And that is just a big NO NO!
I am so very proud of Silla! She did an AMAZING job with this story! I just couldn't seem to put it down, every chapter pulled me in more and more! <3
We are back with our thick accented Kentucky miners and I can’t contain how excited I am to read this. Covered in Coal and it’s cliffhanger, left me counting down the days until fall and THIS book!!!
If I thought my life had shattered before, spiraling down around me, I was wrong. Because in this moment, the eye of the tornado is heading right for me on a path of destruction and despair.
I deserve every ounce of what I get.
Lies Beneath The Surface picks up exactly where we left Carly Jo last. She had her life together but it was about to be wrecked- again. She’s made mistakes and now she must be responsible for them. But lies and secrets hurt. They hurt those you love. Those you care about. Carly Jo learns what hurts the most.
I loved both Colton & Luke in book one. One man had power to prove to love Carly Jo. The power to get to her. But will one have the power to keep her or not? Carly Jo had her own “lies” to deal with in this sequel.
“I love you so d*** much, Carly Jo. Don’t you frickin’ sit here and rip my world apart!”
The title alone tells you this book will be nothing but lies-lies that, those involved wished were buried. The men in her life are pressed to face these circumstances and deal with it.
We also have my favorite character back- Heidi!! Gosh I love this little girl!!!!!
“Well, Heidi Jo, if I didn’t know any better, I’d say you missed me.”
I did! I did! I did!!
Along with the loveable Heidi we have Savanna and her storyline. I loved and hated this. Love the twist but hated it too because I wanted to reach in my kindle and yank some characters straight from the words and put some sense into them. I must say I really liked this storyline over the main one (Carly Jo).
Overall, I liked the conclusion of Carly Jo’s story and I’m very happy with the ending. I just didn’t love it as a whole like I did the first. For me there was something missing. That deep connection. That deep struggle. I’m happy with the way it played out and I’m glad I read it. I was upset that at times I found myself skimming and wanting to get to the ‘other’ storyline. THAT one had me intrigued and I wanted more of it.
“Carly, I swear I don’t know where you find these devilishly sexy men, but if I ever leave Josh, I’ll be raiding your man candy dish.”
“Just tryin’ to ease your nerves you filthy minded freak. Get on the table and wait for the doctor like a good girl.”
“You can mask your fears and try to bury the pain, but it’s what lies beneath the surface that holds the truth.”
My Review:
I almost always struggle when reading a series, especially when there has been a considerable time lag between installments. I typically start off feeling a bit lost as I have either forgotten or confused most of the secondary characters, as well as many of the salient details about the story. So it took me a few chapters to find my sea legs with this book, as the beginning of the story had me truly muddled. When I finally started making connections and settling in, the story took off like a rocket and I was holding onto my precious kindle for dear life. We find there are many deep and hideous secrets that go all the way around and circle several times to surround this small yet intense group of people. There is a bit of everything in the mix, humor, suspense, illness, pregnancy, sass, drama, angst, tears – someone is always crying their eyes out – tenderness, abuse, brawling, heartache, and oh yes… deliciously steamy sensual scenes. It was a long and involved story, and I enjoyed several nights of sleeplessness and subsequent book hang-overs – so worth it! Ms. Webb has concocted a well plotted and intriguing story that I don’t think I could ever tire of. She is devious in sprinkling details about and parceling out its-and-bits of information to keep me involved in the story, and unable to put my kindle down. She is a wicked woman, even though my eyes are red and my head is sore and wooly, I am already feeling restless and tapping my foot while waiting for her next one.
Oh my, oh my and again oh my. Jesus Silla you just near cost me a box of tissues! Silla's writing is so emotional, so visual and so all en-bloody-compassing! I BLOODY loved this book! This has everything a romance should have protagonists, antagonists, secrets, reveals, feelings and most of all a CONNECTION with the reader. I would be shocked to find someone who didn't connect with this series on some level, I really would.
Often in a second book the reader can be left feeling a little let down. Well I honestly didn't and I honestly don't think potential readers will either. I love reading books where the secrets come to light, the reveals and the ahhh moments, the ooh moments and the blubber moments. This book had them all again in spades.
Silla is definitely a firm favorite goto writer after this and book 1, her writing skills is dabomb, her use of local lingo - brilliant, this helped give her characters their life and their essences.
I am not going to go into the story, you don't need that, you should just go read this series on the basis of reading my reaction to the story and the writing, that speaks for itself without me needing to quote verbose what went on. I wouldn't anyway, too may secrets and too anxious to not let one slip, so just take my word for it - GO READ THIS SERIES NOW!
Bravo Silla, I am so happy to have received a copy of this to review, I as always promise 100% honesty and honestly I cannot wait to read more from your wonderful imagination.
Not sure if you are keeping up with my reviews of this author or this book series ...but let me explain ... I started by reading book #4, first .. now I am playing catch up to figure the back story for my mind and pure curiosity. From the start of book 1. I loved Luke Ashton best-est. I felt Colton Weston (his daughter Kylee Jo, is my 2nd favorite character.) had, had his chance, and totally screwed up royally. I think Drew is a jerk ... but darn it he totally adds to the depth of this story. I love figuring out how everything got started. I am curious about things. Don't wanna reveal anything that might be spoilers if you have never read the books. Totally a great series. I guess I should add there are a few "trigger" moments in this book ... spousal abuse, I knew I loved Luke for a reason, what a smart man. There are a few moments, where the author doesn't call Carly Jo ... she just calls her "Carly" ... for me personally ... I was a bit confused. I did have to read a few sections in the book over and over to make sure we were not talking about some one else? or whatnot?! On my kindle the doodles at the top of each chapter beginning are very difficult to view, at times I am not sure who is speaking, I know this is not a big deal ...but it is a bit confusing. just saying. ( ; If you love country life, coal mining, Kentucky, southern flair to it. (or is it flare?) any who I think you get my meaning. We all need a bit of drama in our lives this series has that and all with cute ole' Kylee Jo. She is one cute-pootie!! Precious! Must read!! ( ;
First of all I have to start off by saying that Silla is absolutely brilliant! After leaving us wondering at the end of Covered in Coal Lies Beneath the Surface answers all of your questions. From the moment I opened the book she immediately captured my heart and pulled feelings out of me making me cry immediately! And it didn't stop throughout the book! She made me love characters even more and on the flip side despise others even more. You learn things about some of them that you had no clue about. I was shocked and wanted to jump in the book and take care of the nastiness myself. I was happy, sad, outraged, elated, heart broken, crushed, I could continue on and on with words to describe how I felt because I felt them all in this book. Silla has grown so much as a author that it is astounding. I'm so proud to have been part of this journey. It's been a couple of days since I've read this book and my mind is still on them! I couldn't get enough of this book! I didn't want it to end I just wanted to keep reading more and more about the story. I can not wait for the next book to come out! I'm already pining away for it! Congratulations Silla on another amazing story!
It's really hard to write this review, and say what I wanna say without giving away any spoilers, but still give it the praise it deserves!! Silla absolutely took my breath away with this book! Her writing has flourished tremendously since her debut Covered in Coal! While I loved CIC, she blew me away with LBTS!! The emotions she pulled from me with her words, went beyond anything I've felt! The anger, the sorrow, and especially the LOVE! I felt it all from her characters! <3
In LBTS, it picks up where CIC left off and we finally get the answer to the question that's been lingering since the 'WTH' cliffhanger! As buried secrets are dug up & revealed, we watch as hearts are broken and lives are changed forever!! We get to go though Carly's very emotional pregnancy with her, as she tries to cope with how her life, and the lives of her loved ones, are changing.
Silla gave us twists and turns that were very unexpected! I am so excited for the next book in the Buried Secrets Series! I can't even begin to imagine where else she will take us!! ;)
Omg get the tissues at the ready because your going to need them..I loved this book so much it gripped me in from page 1..I was left speechless what a book..I loved this book if you havnt read covered in coal you need to before this one..I knew this book would be good but its fantastic.well written. .5 stars doesn't even cover it its worth alot more.you nedd to read this its a must read book you will not be disappointed. .well done sillaLies Beneath the Surface
This one was so good overall. There were parts that were very hard to read but we're integral to the plot.
This picks up right from where covered in coal ended, but with a prologue showing us more of Colton.
I was equally mad at both Carly Jo and Colton. There was so much hurt and betrayal that these two had to work through.
We also see more of Savannah in this book and my heart broke so often for her. I was irritated by Carly Jos need to protect her, especially when Carly knew how it felt to have important information withheld.
Silla did such a spectacular job with this one. I was committed and invested in these characters. The world building is phenomenal and I loved feeling like I was there.
I'm excited to read Savannahs book. I want very bad things to happen to her husband but I also want to see Savannah heal.
Luke is a favorite. I admit I was weary of him in book 1, but his quiet calm personality won me over. He hurts when everyone is hurting. I loved seeing the friendship between him and Colton.
This was truly amazing and worth reading the hard parts.
LIES BENEATH THE SURFACE continues the saga of Carly Jo and Colton with side stories involving Luke and Savannah. The personal drama we were left with between Carly Jo and Colton in “Covered in Coal” is carried into this part of their tale. Although there may be resolution to some of their issues, we are still left with a few unresolved matters and the potential for more to come, making for what I expect will be a gripping conclusion in “Mend the Seams.” The rollercoaster of emotions is still going strong as we get to know more about the characters and get more involved in their lives. Kylee Jo’s character remains one of the bright lights in Carly Jo and Colton’s relationship. And although we aren’t left with as startling an ending as in the 1st episode, as one storyline resolves, there’s another waiting to unfold, leaving us wondering what excitement and stirring conflicts are we in for next.
Holy wow! Carly Jo and Colton’s story picks up where we left off. Colton couldn’t be more shocked and excited to find out she is pregnant, but the question is yet to be answered who is the baby’s daddy. I loved how their story unfolded and everyone who had a hand in helping these two find a way back together. So much emotion, hurt feelings and trying to figure out how to survive with or without the love of your life. Carly’s family's deep secrets are about to surface and all the devious, despicable, disgusting things that Josh and Drew have their hand in. I loved the twists and turns and how Savannah’s story is coming to light. I can’t wait to hear more about her life and how Luke will fit into it. So much happening but in a good way that you won’t put this book down. I’m excited for the next book in this series. Amazing read!
Oh my gosh. The way I was all up in my emotions with this story. Happiness, anger, joy, irritation, everything. I wasn't just reading a book, I felt as if I was in it. As if I was right there, watching it all play out. So much happens in this book. It is so intense and there are moments that are very hard to read. Check your TWs, but there is so much growth for these characters. So many truths that are revealed, and so much to look forward to. Silla captures you and takes you on a journey. I am so excited for the next story!
After reading Covered in Coal which ended with Carly Jo discovering she is pregnant, I was excited to read more about Carly Jo and Colton. Lies Beneath the Surface did not disappoint. Carly Jo and Colton go through more drama, hurt and betrayal once the pregnancy is revealed. Savannah's story line was heartbreaking. Luke had great growth as a supportive character in this book. There was so much drama, secrets, suspense, danger and redemption that had me invested in this story. I loved it! Looking forward to the next book.
We have been waiting on this one since the cliffhanger that left us shaking our heads in Covered In Coal and all I can say is it was worth the wait! We see what Carly Jo has been going through and how she has been dealing since last time and she is so very strong and I admire the author for making her such a multi dimensional character and not weak. Then there is Colton who is the love of Carly Jo's life, but who was torn from her. One of the great things about Colton is that he doesn't give up easily and makes sure that Carly Jo knows it. Be warned that you will be pulled into each story in this series, the grammar, the writing, the characters, and the story line just pull you in and make you feel like you are living the story with the characters. Wow, just wow, I needed tissues during parts of the story and other times I wanted a bat, lol. I cannot stress enough just how well written this story is. The secrets that come out and how they damage the people that are still left to deal with the fallout is brilliant.
I love how this book seamlessly picked up where book 1 left off. I loved getting the perspective of the other characters! I’m excited I can jump right into book 3! I’m not writing a summery of what this book was about, just that you need to start a book 1 if you’re just starting out!
This was a heart-wrenching, emotionally charged roller coaster ride. As truths are revealed, can love overcome? Will the hurting ever end? Can relationships be repaired? So much to say but not wanting to give anything away. I am so glad I took the time to read this one. Looking forward to Luke's happy ending because if anyone deserves it, he does - best friend ever!!!
I am very much enjoying this series. Growing up in Appalachia I am enjoying reading as we speak. The book still has sex, lies, coverups . I am sure that Carly Jo doesn’t have her happy ending, yet. With the truth of Savannah and Josh’s relationship coming out and a glimpse into his side of the there will be more to come. I can say for sure is we all need a Luke in our life.
This is one of the best series I have ever read ! I'm so in love with Colton & Carly Jo & the rest of the gang they all have overcome so much to gain & keep a lifetime of love
This is my first time reading this author while the second book was good, I feel the author drags out the story. I said I wasn't going to read the third book, but now I am kind of hooked so I am going to purchase the third
Well this series is definitely full of angst, darkness and deceit. I didn't like Carly Jo very much in this book but am happy that she and Colton finally got some happiness. Now I have to read the next book but if Drew doesn't get all the evil he deserves coming to him, then I will stop reading.
