Ky would have been a perfect hero to me if I hadn't had to hear so much about his past manwhorin' days. He was great with Cooper and I loved how he wanted her the minute he saw her.

I got a little tired of Cooper's self loathing and not believing Ky would be interested in her. While I can understand it given I want heroines who can pull themselves out of that situation and become stronger.

Of course, there was the misunderstandings and miscommunication that I absolutely hate which caused unnecessary angst.

Really, the stars are for keeping me interested. I wanted to see what happened and if the bad guy would get his due.

"T-R-O-U-B-L-E" is the story of Cooper and Ky.

I'm gonna try to keep my review as short as possible:
-The h and H are neighbors
-H is notorious for his bet with his twin to keep chicks away; if he or his brother marry, they would have to forfeit their millions of dollars of inheritance
-h has had a super tragic past- her dbag of a "dead" husband was extremely abusive
-H and h meet when she saves him from a poisonous snake
-H is attracted, h is extremely wary
-They meet again when h adopts a bunch of animals from H's shelter
-He slowly courts her and they start banging
-A shitty stalker starts destroying their belongings, threatening their love
-Lots and lots and lots of drama
-HEA

Honestly, this book was maybe a 100 pages too long for me. The physical abuse was extremely detailed and descriptive, and I found myself cringing at that, and the sexual, cheesy metaphors used by the h and H whenever they got turned on. If not for predictable storyline, and the above three reasons, I would have loved it.
Also, would have liked a scene where the h finally faces her fears, instead of taking abuse/ running away.

Safe

This ended up being a pretty good read for me. Ky knew he was done with the manwhorish ways but he just hadn't met the right girl yet. Enter Cooper. She watches Ky from afar and can't help but to be attracted to him. After years of physical and mental abuse she doesn't feel she has anything worth giving. Ky is immediately attracted to her and pursues her. With danger lurking around, he tries to get her to trust him and let him in. This was a sweet read. No cheating. No love triangles. A reformed playboy who knows what he wants and doesn't waiver. HFN. I wish the epilogue was further out than a month or two.

Oh wow I can't believe what a great story this was! Ok I have to start with the heroine Cooper( horrible name) she was so broken and beaten but she did not give up! Wow she was made of strong stuff. She is not your typical virgin widow thing you may have read about this one was a nasty twist. I don't want to say anything more but I cried so much when she remembering the Christmas thing before her birthday! Omg what an emotional scene. And the sex scene were so hot it was awesome.
The hero Ky was the most amazing man ever. He was hard but with a soft center and when he cried in the hospital, that was when I just melted! Wow just so many feelings in this book it was impossible to put down!!! Some funny moments but mostly it was intense. It's a totally safe book. A total keeper for me.

This story was very sweet. Very little angst or drama, especially considering her history. Ky knew she was the one for him immediately and Cooper (I think this is an odd name for a girl) was very brave in overcoming her history. I liked that this did not dominate their relationship.

The mess with her ex was closed up so fast I almost missed it. I feel like the author decided to stop writing and just finished things up in a few paragraphs. Heck the story was over at 63%. The remainder contained previews of other books.

A very safe read.

As her fan, couldn't believe I missed this book! What a bittersweet book. H was totally a sweetheart. H was so gentle, sexy, and considerate. Poor h, she underwent so much! After what I learnd from her x-ray, couldn't help but wanted to curse her ex to hell.

I liked that h told H about her sad past before they became intimate. Never a fan of secret. And I liked to see how h gain self-confidence gradually due to H's loving. Those love-making scenes were of course hot!

Although there was a little misunderstanding at the end, everything went fine.

Recommend to Sable Hunter's fans.

This book was so bad I don’t even know where to start. The writing and grammar are appalling. Everything is contrived. I had to skim through. I don’t honestly know how I finished it.

Oh my goodness, go check out that cover. I will wait here while you go drool ......
You're back? Oh good, now let's talk about this gem of a book. Yes, like you, I had a hard time getting past the cover of this book but when I did, I laughed so hard sometimes I thought I might cry. Kyler Landon is one of those types of dream characters you look for in a hero. He is gorgeous, caring, funny, down to earth and protective of his lady. Oh and did I mention that he loves animals and volunteers his time for good causes? *dreamy sigh* Cooper is a woman that is about to turn into the woman she was always meant to be. She's gorgeous, straightforward and just a sweetheart. She has a lot of obstacles to overcome and a lot to learn about herself. The first time she meets Ky, is action packed and a perfect start to the story. Cooper can handle her own and that's why I took an instant liking to this exciting character.

Now for the plot. I can't say enough about the plot. It took my breath away. There are moments when Ky is faced with the fact that he might lose Cooper and Ms. Hunter writes with such flair that I felt his desperation and it broke my heart. Another was toward the end (I can't give away spoilers) when Cooper was confronted with something from her past. I could feel the terror she felt. I love it when an author can actually draw me so far into a book that I forget my surroundings. T-R-O-U-B-L-E was one of those books for me.

It has to be noted that Ms. Hunter has taken the subject of domestic abuse and simply nailed it. The feelings that a battered wife might feel is exactly what was portrayed in Cooper's character. How a future partner should handle a problem such as this was just the way that Ky did. This is an important subject that needs to be graphic in order for the reader to get into the character's mind and understand the urgency of the situation. OUTSTANDING job Ms. Hunter.

So all in all, Trouble was one sensational read filled with action, suspense and humor. I simply can't say enough about this book. At the end of the book, it states that T-R-O-U-B-L-E is the first book in the series. YES, can you believe this is a series book? It just keeps getting better. After you read Ky's story, I know you'll want to read his twin brother Ty's story in My Aliyah which comes out in January 2012. They are all part of the Texas Heat Series. Ty's story is not out yet but you can bet that I'll be first in line when it releases. So hurry and buy T-R-O-U-B-L-E, you're gonna love it!

Cooper has escaped from a small town, that helped cover up her late husbands physical abuse. Strung out on steroids that made Richard even meaner than normal. He was able to abuse Cooper as he had his brother a Judge, doctors who looked the other way and highway patrol who would return her when she would run. Richard was suppose to have died in a shot out, but no body had ever been found.

I absolutely loved Coopers character. She had been through hell and back. She had only been loved my her Mother, who had passed away at a very young age. She was left to be raised by her step father & and later step mother. Who pretty much used her as an unpaid maid. Then abused by her husband. But she never gave up on a better life and prayed to be loved.

Enter sexy neighbor Kylar Landon. He is everything Cooper has ever wanted in a man and been told she was never good enough to have. He is tall, good looking, kind, protective and rich. Ky falls head over heels in love with Cooper when she saves him from a rattlesnake and ends up getting but instead. She is just adorable when he is bringing her home from the E.R. And the meds are letting her mouth run free. Loved it.

A romance soon blooms between the two but when Cooper sees a man on her back porch Ky convinces her to come stay with him. Soon strange things start happening to Ky's property. And missed opportunity's to tell each other how they feel lead to heartache and despair.

My heart was overwhelmed for Cooper, with everything she went through and still more to come. The girl spent a lot of time at the E.R. / clinic. Four trips not counting all the times her husband had broken bones. To call her a survivor would be insulting.

Very excited to be starting the second book in the series ... My Aliyah - Heart in Chains

T-R-O-U-B-L-E, is a very appropriate title for this book, because that it is what gorgeous hunk, Kyler Landon is in from the first moment his eyes land on his feisty neighbor, Cooper. What a first meeting that was, complete with a coiled up rattlesnake!
Kyler is great, he is sexy, funny, smart, and protective. Cooper is a smart, open and honest woman who has been beat down by life, especially her slimy dead husband. Sable Hunter deals with the subject of domestic abuse, in this book, and I feel like she did a great job handling it. Cooper has suffered a lot in her young life, but instead of feeling sorry for herself, she picks herself up and tries to move on. She does however feel like she is not good enough in a lot of ways, and she puts herself down a lot. Kyler, soon realizes that he has his work cut out for him, dealing with this beautiful lady.
This book is filled with action, suspense, humor, and steamy love scenes. I cried a few tears, but more than that I had to laugh out loud several times. I also loved the other characters in this book, especially Kyler's twin Tyler. I loved the bet that Kyler and Tyler had about marriage, and to see how the Ky/Ty treaty played out in the story line.
As always, Sable Hunter, had me from page one. She is one of my favorite authors, and when I see her name on the front of a book, I never think twice about buying it!! If you haven't read any of her books, give one a try, I bet that you will be hooked too!!

Although I read this years ago, I wanted to revisit these characters. Ky is a hard working man and cowboy with a big heart. But he is lonely, and not looking for another one night stand, but his soul mate. When a sweet young woman rescues him from getting bit by a rattle snake, he is immediately smitten. Copper is not only the hero, but his next door neighbor! She is everything he has wanted yet she is skittish and shy. After surviving a marriage in hell, Cooper is trying to get on her feet. Scars on her body and heart, she has the sweetest soul despite what those who were supposed to love her have done. When Ky becomes her true knight in shining armor, she cannot help but love him. But can Ky keep her safe when her past comes around? If you love sexy men with a heart of gold then you will LOVE Ky! And Cooper is just a sweet soul and I loved her character so much.
Tropes: abuse survivor, cowboy, sex toy play, virgin MFC, love at first sight.
Triggers: abuse, assault, violence.

This is one of the first books I read from the pen of Sable Hunter.
After reading this ,it encouraged me to make sure I read everything
Sable had written.
Cooper had survived an abusive marriage, and lonely childhood.
Tyler her next door neighbour, fell hard the first time he met Cooper.
This is a very emotional story, and you can't help fall in love with
the characters. If you enjoy adventure and steamy sex you can't go
wrong. As with all Sable hunter's books great characters and emotional stories. this book has it all.

Not exactly my favorite because as much as I liked Cooper, she's way too scarred and I almost lose my patient reading her character. Sure she's scarred and damaged by her past but her insecurities are too much to handle, in my opinion. I wish she could act like a grown woman, suck it up and embrace Ky's affection. I'm sure women can sense it if her men's being sincere, right? Yeah.

Plus why in the world Sable Hunter named her heroine Cooper? Seriously. For a moment I thought there's a twist of M/M romance here..

ANOTHER GREAT BOOK, I L.O.V.E.D. IT. SO ROMANTIC EVEN THOUGH IT HAS A VERY DISTASTEFUL STORYLINE WHICH WAS HANDLED VERY WELL. THE SUBJECT MATTER WAS VERY HORRIBLE BUT IT'S SOMETHING THAT HAPPENS ON A DAILY BASIS SOME WHERE ON OUR PLANET. IT HAPPENS IN ALL CULTURES AND RACES BUT THIS STORY WAS SPOT ON, I KNOW, TRUST ME I DO. AS USUAL MS. HUNTER HAS SOME OF THE MOST SEXXY SENSUAL LOVE SCENES, ALONG WITH ALPHA MEN, READY "TO CATCH A GRENADE", FOR HIS LADY LOVE. SIGHHHHHHH!!! BE STILL MY HEART!

***NOTE MY REVIEWS OFTEN CONTAIN SPOILERS***

Cooper Lawson is trying to rebuild her life after years of abuse in her marriage. Hiding out from her dead husband’s family in a friend’s hunting cabin she mostly avoids people even though she wishes for friends. She slows down to stare at her handsome neighbor K. Langdon every time she passes his house though she’d never dare talk to him. That is until she sees a rattle snake behind him about to strike and can’t help but coming to his aide. When Kyler Langdon see’s the tiny woman next door take a rattle snake bite for him he can’t help but be enamored with her. Neither of them can resist the other, but their happiness seems to be short lived when Cooper sees a mysterious man outside her cabin and Kyler’s things start getting destroyed. Has Cooper’s past come back to haunt them her haunt her? And if so will she survive it again?

The book is really more of a three and half or three and three quarters than a three stars but since I rate on even stars I put it as a three. It was a quick, interesting and delightful read. But there were a couple issues with believability that I had as well as some other things so as much as I enjoyed reading it I didn’t think it was quite a four stars yet.

The book is a contemporary erotica romance, so it tells you up front that a lot of the focus in this book was sex. Since the author isn’t trying to sell the book as a regular romance I’m not going to discredit the book for lots of sex scenes. It’s the genre and it’s supposed to be that way. One thing that I enjoyed about the book is that even though a lot of the focus in the book is sex she made a point of developing a larger and more interesting plot line. Would I have liked to see more of that outside plot line? Yes. Do I feel it exceeded expectations for an erotica novel though? Also Yes. As a long time resident of small towns I can easily buy into the idea that a woman could end up trapped like Cooper did in this novel so I found that believable. I live in a town where child predators live within a block of the school because one of the members of the tight knit group that runs the town gains a lot of cash from renting to them so town officials look the other way about how close these citizens are to school and homes where children live. I can easily picture a town that looked the other way while the sheriff violently abused his wife. I did however find it a little hard to believe that he remained married to her for a few years and never once had sex with her. I don’t quite understand why he would chase her down to marry her if he had no intentions of any sort of physical relations with her beyond abusing her. And while Cooper does display some of the well known signs of victims of abuse such as being guarded and having occasional moments of skittish behavior, I don’t think that was followed through enough. Within two days of physically meeting Kyler she slept with him, easily trusting him and falling into a routine with him. While the behavior would fit with her level of naivety about how things work between men and women I don’t feel it meshed with the characterization of a women who’d experienced the kind of abuse mentioned in this novel. I feel there should have been more build up before the physical activity occurred between them due to her past. I’ll buy into the saving his life because she’s been raised with good morals and couldn’t just let him die. However I think she should have been more skittish about letting him touch her at first and more guarded and hesitant about letting him into her life. For someone burned as badly as this character has been I feel she rushed into both sex and trust too quickly for it to be really believable. I mean there were moments when that part of her character came clearly through, but I just feel she put her heart and body on a sleeve too easily for most of the novel.

I had an additional believability issue with some of the sex scenes, for example as I mentioned Cooper is supposed to be a virgin, yet there’s no mention of the hymen in the first sex scene, no barrier to be broken and no initial pain with her first time having sex even as well endowed as Ky is described to be. I mean no I don’t expect it to be painful and unenjoyable through the entire scene but there’s usually at least a sharp intake of breath, maybe a small sting upon initial entrance your first time. If she’s supposed to be a virgin I think there should have been a little more slow hesitation during their initial intercourse scene. The second thing involving sex I had some trouble believing was how easy this couple achieved climax. In one scene she gets off from him playing with her breasts and he follows without ever having been touched in anyway intimate. He’s in his thirties, that’s a little hard to believe something that small would make him climax. The reverse happens in another scene when she achieves climax from giving him oral attention. As much as it’s nice to imagine a partner who achieves climax from see you get yours, it’s highly unlikely this would actually happen.

Other than the believability issues mentioned about some of the point of view changes bothered me as well. At times it was distant also as if being narrated toward the beginning and these sections also included small sections of info dumping. However most of the novel was in a close third person. I feel it would have been better for the novel if it had been kept in that close third person from beginning to end allowing that information to come out in other ways more gradually throughout the course of the novel.

As I mentioned before there’s an interesting plot to this novel beyond the love story and fierce attraction and I would have liked to have seen more of it. She has this abused woman who believes she’s a widow, though her awful husband was only faking his death to hide from a drug cartel who he stole money from. While you get a little bit of this feeding through the story it’s not really taken into any depth. She’s created a really twisted villain who you barely get to spend any time with. It seems a shame to come up with this dangerous exterior plot and such a shudder worthy villain and not see these things really get their time in the limelight. While the book may not have still fit into the erotica genre had she expanded upon these things I do believe it would have been a more interesting novel. She’s compiled all the makings of a great romantic suspense novel here but not really expanded upon them enough to fit in that genre.

In addition to the suspenseful elements she also weaves in a considerable amount of humor and miscommunication which despite my complaints about the book leads to a very enjoyable novel to read. The book covered a fairly large period of time by basically not going into a lot of detail on days that weren’t quite important to the story. By avoiding the unnecessary details she maintains a nice fast pace to the novel. Though I will mention again if she’d written out more of the suspenseful scenes instead of glossing over them I really think this would have made a world of difference in what the book is and what it could be.

As far as characters go, Hunter knows her genre and its needs for a well developed character. While for someone who hasn’t been abused or sheltered from the ways of the world Cooper may be a little difficult to relate to she is a well developed character. You’re brought right into her mind and her feelings in a very gripping manner. She’s so abused and sheltered she can’t see the things right in front of her eyes. Kyler is equally developed though you don’t get the same sense of connection to him as to Cooper because you aren’t given the same amount of time inside his head. I believe this is intentional because between the two Kyler is the less compelling character, he’s led a fairly normal and privileged life. Cooper is definitely the more interesting and wounded character. As a mentioned above, she’s also created a compelling villain though the other secondary characters are not as well developed as these three.

Overall despite the three star rating which I gave for the reasons mentioned above this book really is a highly enjoyable read. I think it will find a nice fit with readers of erotica and contemporary romance.

TOO WORDY A READ

A pretty intense drama about a young wife who had been beaten and tortured by her husband. The story really begins after her husband had been reported killed while performing his Sheriff duties. She lives in fear and almost hiding from strangers. She rescues her neighbor, who becomes immediately infatuated with her. They relationship is intriguing and there definitely is potential for a gripping story but the storyline gets too wordy with all the references pertaining to sex thoroughly. The final break through and ending almost become the best parts of the story.

Such a sweet book! While there were a few cheesy moments of dialogue, this book pulled them off in a good way. The heroine broke my heart with all she had been through and the details we heard. The hero was the right amount of masculine cowboy while still remaining soft. I loved her journey of rebuilding herself with him by her side. I liked the dual POV so we could see his unspoken thoughts of love for her and how kind and patient he was. This one tugged at my heartstrings unexpectedly which is always the best kind.

An okay read but just felt old fashioned even with the sex. Abused wife meets handsome knight who saves her, but her evil husband isn’t dead. Persevered but felt it was lacking more strength.

Cooper's husband is dead, the sadistic wife beater is not missed. She escapes the town run by her ex's goonies to a small town in Texas where she swears to begin a new life, a good one, without him. But all the remarks hurt worse than the broken bones and starting fresh doesn't come easy… after all if her deceased husband was right she’s no more than an ugly cow.

After living in isolation in small cabin for few weeks she finally meets her neighbor, the handsome Kyler who she's been watching for a while now driving by his house, as she rescues him from a possible rattlesnake bite, just to get bit herself. Ky demands he needs to take care of her and take her to the hospital, and very very grudgingly she finally agrees.

Ky has never met a women like Cooper, she's his perfect match, a gorgeous little spitfire, but the skittish thing tries to evade all his approaches and insistently calls him a friend, but he has a plan to get out of the friend zone, but even if he does there seems to be much more to Cooper than meets the eye. And why is his ranch now suddenly under sabotage, and from who?

~*~

I think I've found another favorite author! I absolutely fell in love with Trouble! I loved broken Cooper and Ky for wanting her just as she was never knowing just how broken she was. I haven't read a novel on domestic abuse since Stephen King's Rose Madder, and as much as I loved that book I loved Trouble even more! Maybe Trouble kicks Rose Madder's ass because let's face it S.K doesn't really write deliciously hot love scenes - Sable Hunter does!

I truly enjoyed the plot it was intricate in subtle way not robbing from the romance but adding to it. I loved how broken Cooper was, she'd been beaten, abused and tortured, physically and even more damagingly, mentally - but still she had a kind character, she had compassion for animals which she viewed as not hostile, where she tend to think people thought the worse of her. Which I can somewhat relate to myself, having been bullied at school, hurtful words for years on end cause damage.

Ky was the absolute rock of the book! He was there for Cooper every step of the way without any knowledge of what she'd been through. He wanted her, loved her and cared for her, this was touching enough to get any girls eyes to water, that kind of unconditional love. Not that the love was just pure, oh no, there was plenty of passion and sexual tension, Ky trying to control his and Cooper questioning both of theirs.

This is one of those books that you just got to read, you'll feel for Cooper, you'll root for Ky to figure it all out and you'll be at the edge of your seat when the suspense aspect of the story kicks in. I know I was! More than once I went "watch out he's right there, oh god, look, no don't go there!".

I highly recommend this book to you if you love broken girls getting whole again, dizzyingly passionate love story, suspense and of course a hot cowboy, with a twin! Which reminds me I have the 2nd Texas Heat book, My Aliyah: Heart in Chains to read next week. ;D

This is the first book that I've read from Sable, but it will definitely not be my last. I did not want to stop reading, my attention was pulled back to this story whenever I had to put it down. You are drawn into the characters emotions so well that you can almost feel what they do. Texas Heat has nothing to do with the temperature outside...

Cooper Lawson had a horrible marriage that lasted three long years. Living through abuse, both mental and physical has caused her to keep to herself and trust no one. Her husband has been dead for almost two years and she still lives with the fear of being found by his family, causing her to hide and have no trust in men. There is only one problem she has and that's being lonely. Her only pleasure is watching her neighbor work outside when she drives by, but that's about to change. Cooper is ready to put the past behind her and move on.

Kyler(Ky) Landon has the reputation of a ladies man and he is not ashamed of it. But, now he is tired of being alone and is starting to think of settling down and it doesn't have to be by marriage.
Ky lives on the land next to Cooper, but he has never seen her. He knows someone watches him from a car as it drives by, but he can not see who it is. He is about to find out. As Cooper is passing by while he is working outside and sees a rattle snake getting ready to strike. She gets out and draws it's attention away from Ky so he can kill it, the only problem she has is not moving fast enough and the snake gets her instead.

While Ky takes care of Cooper his feelings for her start to grow and he wants more from her. Can she forget the past to try to find some kind of relationship with this man? As strange things start happening to her, Ky becomes more protective over her. Then they find papers that incriminate Cooper's dead husband and now stranger things start happening to Ky.

Can they both get over things from the past in time to tell each other how they feel before it's too late, or will Cooper's past come back to destroy her?
