The ability to see into the future has only brought Waverly pain and suffering. She has been wrong about everything. Ethan...Remi...are all of them really dead?Stuck in Shadowface's compound, Waverly meets a girl named Amber who is determined to escape. Through a simple touch, Waverly can see that she is destined to escape with her. But she knows it is not the end. Shadowface must be stopped.
Jason D. Morrow is the author of the Prototype D series, The Starborn Ascension, The Starborn Uprising, and The Marenon Chronicles. He enjoys playing guitar, shooting videos, and spending time with his lovely wife, Emily.
What a beautiful ending to this trilogy - definitely one of my favorites of the series. I'm thinking it has to do with some happy things resulting from so much turmoil.
This was quite a ride for the past 2 days and now I find myself in a book coma.
I want more of Remi, Waverly, Ethan, and Gabe. I'm happy they got their HEA but sad to see their stories end.
Now, it's time to find out what happened to Evie ♥
So... Still zombies, which I'm still not into, and it only sorta kinda ends (obviously 60 years or so before the bad guy is defeated, according to one vision), and I feel tired and dirty after three books, but it was actually not a bad story in all. Lots of intrigue, secrets, alliances, and traitors, and it at least ends on a halfway happy note.
My biggest complaint if a grammar Nazi variety, most notably that you don't "rack" your brain, something is not "nerve-racking." It's "wrack." WRACK.
This is an entertaining and enjoyable read where we follow the exploits of the survivors of a catastrophe. The idea of the Starborns make this series different from other zombie stories.
It's well-written with a reasonable plot and the first-person narratives give more depth to the characters, though maybe it could have gone further.
I have the omnibus edition but just wanted to add this separate review.
I’ll say it again, the changes of characters every chapter was distracting. I understand why the author did this, because it’s a wonderful way to show different points of view. It probably shouldn’t have been every chapter. Otherwise, the book wrapped up nicely as a prequel to the first set trilogy. Definitely a great read, with adventure, action, and a pinch of romance.
This one got worse only because "love" was the force that made everything better. It felt too much like a deus ex machina, and a little uncreative. There could have been other, cleverer ways to get through this story to its end.

Foreseeing the future doesn't mean you can change it. Waverly hates her gift, it hasn't stopped bad things from happening. This trilogy has certainly shown us some interesting things about how this all began.
This is book 3 of the Starborn Ascension. It takes place one month after the 2nd book but goes back and forth to update you on events. The world has gone to hell and only the survivors remain. You would think with only a small percentage of the populace surviving the outbreak of the grayskins virus the people would want to work together for peace.
I like these books because it shows true human nature. No one is fully good or evil but a mix of both. To survive you must do bad things. Sometimes the true monsters are sleeping in the very next room and not the things trying to eat your flesh.
In this book the visions of the future can be torture. The love of your life can be tested. And the fight between good and evil sometimes becomes a fight between evil and less evil.
This book doesn't end on a cliffhanger like the last two and does it's best at a 'happily ever after' but in this life they deserve a little happy. Even the ever after comes with sadness and it leaves just enough loose ends that it can't be fully over.
Who lives and who survives is just a matter of time. If you knew the future could you kill someone in cold blood just to change it. If you kill one person does that make the future better or worse? All of these terrible decisions rest on the shoulders of a 17 year old girl named Waverly.
She isn't your normal 17 year old however. She has been killing grayskins to survive since she was 14. One of the few she trusts are Remi and Gabe. Some of their "friends" are really their enemies and some have no choice but to be bad. Although one of them is so out of character I feel like screaming at them to figure it out already! But then I think, would I get it if I was only 17 and had only had one relationship to judge the opposite sex? Maybe, maybe not.
I really liked the ending. I liked also that it left an opening for 3 year old Evie to still have to struggle for a good life in a future series (at least I'm hoping that's who will be fighting.) I also enjoyed the fact that this author understood in a future like this sometimes love comes quick but he doesn't rely on it as a reason to write sappy love scenes. Because with the horrors these people have faced it wouldn't be natural.
The good guys aren't all alive and the bad guys aren't all dead. It's a good enough ending to stand on it's own, or to propel you to read the next trilogy without feeling like you are going to miss something. I will be reading them though, because it's such a compelling story and I want to see how it ends.
This should really be a 3.5 because of stuff that annoyed me, but I like the author enough to round up. I spent a good portion of the book wanting to strangle Waverly for being clueless. Still a good book.
Remi, Waverly and their companions must find their way back to each other. That accomplished, they are finally poised to take down the woman who calls herself Shadowface - but she may not be the biggest danger around after all. Meanwhile, Mitch's powers are growing and his agenda puts them all in even more danger... A satisfying conclusion to the trilogy, fast-paced and filled with action as ever. On the whole, I still liked the Starborn Uprising trilogy (set 57 years after this one) more, though.
I read all three books in the series - which says a lot. They are zombie apocalypse novels with a supernatural twist with the Starborns having special abilities. Good writing and strong characters. My only complaint is the lack of hope. There's very little "feel good" going on here - rightfully so when zombies are involved, I suppose. Still, after 3 books I need to take a break before diving into the next series of Mr. Morrow's books. Needless to say, I will buy and read more of his writing!
Book three of the Starborn Ascension series. A post-apocalyptic tale about survival afterzombie apocalypse. It includes violence, supernatural powers, zombies, love.
Good story. I didn't understand Waverly's obsessive aversion to guns considering the violent world she lived in.
I'm normally not big on zombies but they seem to fit in here.
I recommend this.
More of his books, and other good books, can be found at Smashwords, Amazon and other booksellers.
Simply put, this is the best "zombie apocalypse" setting I have ever read. It's built to be very possible even, and maybe especially, the way the world currently is.
This specific book is very dark, with some pretty difficult themes. Have tissues handy. That said, it really does wrap things up into a neat little package, which is pretty rare for a book to manage without it seeming contrived and fake.
A book I could hardly put down. A satisfying ending to this series that makes me want to continue in the Starborn Ascension series. Telling you anything about this book would ruin it. Even the one question I have would. So read it and you will see for yourself. This is another well written story with characters that feel very real.
A satisfying conclusion to what is the first part of the Starborn series. All the loose ends were tied up in what was a thoroughly enjoyable take on the zombie genre.
Early next year i look forward to the second part of the story.
Really fantastic end to the series. There's a lot going on and it really hooked me to the end. This series was a great read, very well edited, and great description. The characters really pulled me through the story. I definitely plan on reading his next Starborn series.
Not sure what it is about book three but every time I picked it up I would fall asleep reading it. It took me forever to get through it for that reason. If you are into the walking dead meets the x men then you will probably like this series. Wasn't exactly my cup of tea but to each their own.
I don't know how I feel! Hate how it ends, but knowing he had another trilogy based on 57 years after this let me know it wasn't going to be a happy one. An attempt at a happy ending was made with the final chapter, but it was no good. Not bad, but most definitely not my favorite set of books.
Good Book but not earth shattering. Zombie apocalypse and 2 sisters who are descendants from aliens; Starborns, with special gifts. Happy Reading!!!! Tim
