Matteo “Lucky” Branson has it all—an elite hockey career, a massive fanbase, and the kind of charm that trends effortlessly on TikTok. As the fun-loving left winger for the Pittsburgh Titans, he’s built a brand on superstition and swagger. But when a viral dating challenge puts him opposite a woman who couldn’t care less about his fame, Lucky’s about to learn the hard way that some games don’t follow the playbook.

They call me Lucky for a reason. My grandmother swears I was cursed at birth—yet somehow, I’ve been kissed by fate every day since. I’ve got my rabbit’s foot, a shamrock tattoo, and quirky rituals by the dozen—and it’s all worked so far. Life’s been smooth. Hockey, clout, fun... I’m skating through.

Until I meet Winifred Shaw. Winnie. She’s smart, bold, and laugh-out-loud funny, with a TikTok following that rivals mine and a dating challenge that’s going viral. The premise? Thirty days of dating to prove an average woman can still land a decent guy. I’m the first to accept the challenge—one night, one chance, and then she moves on. But the moment she rolls her eyes at me, I’m hooked.

She thinks I’m just another overhyped athlete with a pretty face and a lucky streak. But I see her—confident, curvy, electric—and I don’t just want a second date. I want every single one after that.

I’ve always trusted luck to get me where I need to be. But this time? I’m ready to fight for it.

Lucky by Sawyer Bennett
Lucky by Sawyer Bennett
Narrated by Connor Crais and CJ Bloom
Pittsburgh Titans Book 18, Can stand alone easily.
Disclosure: I do PA work for Sawyer which is why I got this review copy so early. However, I pride myself on ALWAYS writing HONEST reviews. While I normally review every book I finish, in Sawyer's case, if it is less than 4.5 stars, I will not review it at all. This post contains affiliate links.
“Thirty days of dating to find a normal guy. Someone… refreshingly average like me, apparently. He doesn’t have to be perfect. He just has to not make me want to crawl out a restaurant’s bathroom window. And I’m guessing that this platform is big enough to open my dating pool. So, I’m appealing to all you, besties… help a girl out. Let’s see if he exists.”

“Lucky here—actual name, not just wishful thinking. Challenge accepted. I’m not perfect, but you won’t be sneaking out bathroom windows. I also bring snacks.” Then I lean in a little closer, pop my dimples. “Challenge accepted, Winnie.”

I didn’t expect to fall for Lucky by Sawyer Bennett the way I did. I thought Lucky might come off as too full of himself, and Winnie as just another influencer, but Sawyer Bennett completely won me over. Lucky is funny, charming, relevant, and one of the most feel-good romances I’ve listened to in a while.

I love how Sawyer Bennett followed the darker, emotional Penn with this lighthearted romcom. This is only the third book I’ve read in the Pittsburgh Titans series, but I never felt lost. In fact, meeting some of the players and their WAGs made me want to go back and binge the whole series.

Winnie is a kindergarten teacher with a judgmental bunny who moonlights as her TikTok sidekick. Her channel went viral after she shared a bad date story, and people stuck around for her “average girl, real life” content. When Lucky stumbles across her dating challenge video, he’s instantly hooked. But since she doesn’t think he’s “average enough,” Lucky tries to tone down the pro-hockey charm—though there’s no hiding how irresistible he is.

Of course, fame has its downsides. When Lucky’s fans get involved, Winnie faces the darker side of social media bullying.

I loved how relevant and timely this book felt, blending hockey romance with today’s influencer culture. Both characters were well-adjusted, sweet, and supportive, with no over-the-top trauma dragging them down. Lucky’s Italian mom stole every scene she was in, and Winnie’s parents were just as lovable. The wives and girlfriends welcomed Winnie instantly, which made the book even warmer and more heart-melting. Lucky was charming, Winnie was relatable, and I honestly wished the book was longer, I wasn't ready for it to end.
“This has all the makings of a comedy, yes. But also? Disaster. A beautiful, marble-sculpted, viral train wreck disaster.”

Likes:

•Winnie was so cute, and her bunny is even cuter.
•Lucky can charm the pants off anyone.
•Lucky can stand alone perfectly well but will be even better if you read previous books (especially Foster).
•I loved Lucky’s mom so much!
•Catching up with the previous characters that I knew and getting to know others better.
•I love the team and WAG camaraderie.
•The TikTok angle was so trendy and relevant.
•It was a light and charming read.
•A unique storyline for a hockey romance.
•I smiled the whole time.
•I highlighted a ridiculous amount of amazing quotes.
•The setup for Atlas, which I think will rip my heart out.
•Her bunny had such character with its little thumps.

Dislikes:

•The school security where Winnie works was concerning, and realistically, she wouldn’t be able to film her students or probably even her classroom for TikTok.
•A few too many repeated tiktoks: We read them when they are recorded, then again when they are watched by the other character.

The Narration:
Connor Crais and CJ Bloom were absolute perfection for these characters. CJ Bloom’s voice was made for romcoms (and kindergarten teachers), and Connor nailed the charming player vibe. The narration made the story even more fun and addictive.

The Down & Dirty:
"You're not average. You're electric."

I was almost giddy while listening to Lucky, I just loved it so much! I appreciate how Sawyer doesn’t stick to just one style in this series. Penn was more of a suspense, Lucky was a light romcom, and I can tell Atlas will rip my heart out. After I listened to the audiobook, I asked for a copy of the ebook so I could pull my quotes correctly, and I ended up getting sucked back in and re-reading the whole thing on Kindle—and I loved it just as much the second time through. Lucky is pure charm, pure fun, and one of the most unique hockey romances I’ve read.  This is my third book in the series, and now I just want to go back and read them all.

Rating: 4.75 Stars, 3 Heat, 4.5 Narration

Love this Hockey family. Lincoln is an outgoing and funny hockey star. When he sees a TikTok video online, he decides to jump in and ask for a date.

Winnie Shaw is a kindergarten teacher who does TikTok on the side for extra money. When she throws a dating challenge out there for average girls and lucky contacts her she has no idea what she is in for.

When he was way insecure and this, and it started to get on my nerves, but I can only imagine how much online bullying normal people get when they start dating someone famous.

I enjoyed the social media take on this story. It was a fun way to have the characters start dating.

Social media is such a huge presence in our lives these days and I liked the connection. Just like in real life the characters went through the highs and lows of what it means to be on social media. Whether or not you are trying to be an influencer or just having fun with it, unfortunately people are always there to judge. People all of the sudden grow a lot of confidence when they are only typing behind a screen.
With Lucky being a professional hockey player and Winnie having a larger following they experienced all the highs and lows. It even got tricky when people came from behind the screen and said things while they were in the same room.

These two were able to overcome the obstacles and find a good balance for them.

I struggled with this one a bit. The main couple "Lucky" and Winnie I find on how they met a bit unbelievable to me. I just didn't feel the connection between the main couple. I don't have Tiktok so I didn't know what a "stitch" meant. So I was initially confused with those terms, but it was eventually explained. But the social media influence as the plot is not really my favorite topic to read about. I felt the Pittsburgh Titans Hockey team took a backseat and wasn't mentioned enough.

Narrated by CJ Bloom and Connor Crais in Dual POV's.

I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

The first thing I did when I finished this story was bring up my IMs with Lisa Kuhne (that’s Sawyer’s assistant) and scream “MOTHER FUCKER! That was a fucking great story! K,bye”! Now, if you know me, you know that when I bring out the ”fucks”, whatever I was listening/reading is beyond any scale/rating. In a perfect world, that should be my review in total, but these vendors can be assholes about using profanity so I gotta pretty it up for you.

The level of happiness this story carries is immeasurable. Even when the story went thru conflict, there was positivity surrounding it. It’s authentic and real and very relatable, especially because of how much social media has taken over society’s form of communication in today’s world. It was genius for Sawyer to take this theme and put together two characters who are complete opposites in all manner of speaking, even down to how they handle/use social media and have them bond and journey to the ❤️sweet spot❤️. No detail of today’s “online crazy” was missed or glossed over in this story and every one of those aspects was represented very true to life. It was so easy to get lost in this story because of its realism, both the good and bad that society brings to the table when it comes to social media. Sawyer didn’t miss a single beat in Lucky & Winnie’s story!

🎧Narration by Connor Crais & CJ Bloom was utter perfection! Connor’s performance as Lucky was very on point and CJ performed Winnie exactly as I’d expect Winnie to be. It was perfect casting! Listening to this story made me very happy and while I didn’t sit and read the story and did more of a read/listen along, I get the feeling that whichever your preferred format might be, this is going to be an excellent experience for you! #betme

I’ve been reading/listening to Sawyer’s work for over a decade and while there are a lot of stories I could scream from the rooftops about, these last two Pittsburg Titan stories (Penn & Lucky) are two stories that stand above the best of the best. #trust

This book is perhaps my favorite of the series yet! Lucky is definitely the book boyfriend of the year and I adored Winnie. Buttermilk, the judgmental rabbit was a hoot!

Matthew “Lucky” Branson is the ultimate star on the ice and is known for his thirst trap social media presence on TikTok. He is cheeky, charming, and at times appears egocentric, but he is truly down to earth. Seriously, this man will melt many readers’ hearts and have them swooning!

Winnie is a breath of fresh air and is the type of girl that many will be able to relate to. I truly loved her character! A social media influencer by accident, her TikTok videos show how an everyday girl can be quite extraordinary.

These two are the ultimate couple and I couldn’t help by find myself rooting for them throughout the entire book. The emotional and physical connection was beautifully and realistically written. As with all of this author’s prior works, the character development and evolution of their relationship was well done.

While at times it felt that this book had a lot more humor and levity than the previous books in the series, it does have its heavier moments. The author addresses subject matter that is true and relevant in our society today and she handled it with great care and sensitivity. Witty banter, humorous inner musings, steam, and very thought provoking moments made this hockey sports romance an enjoyable read.

I listened to the audiobook version of this book and I just love Lucky. That man is the perfect combination of confidence without the arrogance, romance, and golden retriever energy. I love everything about this man, from how he went after what he wanted to how he called his mom for advise often. I love that mother son relationship. I also loved how Lucky and Winnie met. I will say Winnie is not my favorite FMC. Her obsession with social media and how much importance she gave to it was not something I could connect with. I had a hard time with her talking about how bad her date was and all the things the guy did wrong but when others talked about her she couldn't handle it. That being said the chemistry between Lucky and Winnie was off the charts. The other thing I loved is how Lucky's teammates and their partners rallied behind Winnie and Lucky to speak against social media bullying. The narration by Connor Crais & CJ Bloom was spectacular. These two make a great combination!

This was my first Sawyer Bennett book and definitely won't be my last. Thank you Sawyer for the Advance Listener Copy!

Audio is narrated by Connor Crais and CJ Bloom. Both Connor and CJ are two of my favorite narrators, and they did a fabulous job with Lucky and Winnie.

Lucky is a pro hockey player known as a playboy and is a serial TikTok poster. Winnie is a kindergarten teacher who has a large following on TikTok and is known for being "average." Winnie posts a video looking for an "average" date. Lucky stitches her post and the two of them connect and start dating.

All is not love and roses though and it seems the world is out to get Winnie for dating Lucky. Winnie starts getting bullied by TikTok influencers. Not just Lucky, but the entire Pittsburg Titans and their significant others get behind Winnie to protect her and show the world that bullying is wrong.

I really enjoyed the story and will definitely pick up the others.

Lucky is without word of a lie, highly entertaining but also swoonworthy!
Ive never felt so incredibly warm while reading a story! Thats how Ms Bennets words have made me feel!
This is without a doubt the most heartfelt beautiful and inspiring story Ive read this year!
The way Lucky and Winnie meet, the way their journey unfolds and then the tears that stream down my face, made this a book I could Not put down. This book also highlights bullying, be it in person or online, its NEVER OK, what Lucky does to combat it, stole my breath away. We all need someone like him at our side. He is fictional book boyfriend goals for sure and is now my favourite character!
If I could give it 10 stars I would. Exceptional, inspirational and full of heart!

After three Titans releases in a row that left me wanting, I’m thrilled that Lucky broke that streak. Lucky felt like a return to what I’ve loved about this series: characters that I connect with, the team camaraderie, and swoony romance. Winnie was down-to-earth and so relatable. And Lucky was top tier book boyfriend material. The aspect of social media and its downsides of bullying and cancel culture were timely and played out in a realistic way. Seeing Lucky, his teammates, and their significant others use social media to rally for something positive gave all the good feels. Loved this entry in the Pittsburgh Titans series.

Audio-Fantastic narrators. Loved the story, characters and supporting cast but it was the judgy rabbit named Buttermilk that I really loved. This was a 4.5-5 for me but had to knock it down to a 4 because the ending needed a little more follow through. It just ended too abruptly. Overall these Titans do not disappoint!

Matteo "Lucky" Branson completely stole my heart in this latest offering of the Pittsburgh Titans series. As the team's fun loving, superstitious left winger, Lucky's charm, humour and swagger make him instantly irresistible. But it's the depth beneath all that confidence that truly shines in this story.

When a viral dating challenge throws him together with Winifred "Winnie" Shaw, sparks fly in all the best ways. Winnie's wit, independence and no nonsense attitude make her a perfect match for Lucky's personality, and their chemistry is immense. I laughed, swooned and even teared up as these two navigated the difference between luck and love, and learned that some things are worth fighting for.

Sawyer never fails to deliver fresh, engaging romances with heart, humour & unforgettable characters. I love the variety in her stories and how they form part of a connected world. I'm excited to continue this series..

Honestly? This one might be my favorite so far.

Lucky was such a fun secondary character, and he did not disappoint in his own book! It was so much fun watching him try to convince Winnie that he could be a "normal" guy (as if, LOL) before finally just leaning in to who he really is and asking her to give him a chance. And when she really needed him to step up? (WHY are people such jerks on the internet???) He absolutely did, and it was fabulous.

And Winnie? I mean, who doesn't love a kindergarten teacher whose closest companion is a rabbit named Buttermilk? No one. (Except for those beforementioned jerks on the internet. But they can kick rocks.) She is a very relatable heroine, and when she crashed out I felt it hard. But again, Lucky managed to wrangle the troops to help make things better and brought us to the HEA that everyone deserved.

#BeKindLikeWinnie, people!

I listened to the audio version, and the narrators did a terrific job, as always. Definitely recommend, if you are an audio listener.

Atlas's book is next, and after the snippets we got for it here, I am ready for it!

Rating: 4 1/2 stars / A

Awesome Story & Narration🎧Captivating & Swoony!

Lucky
Pittsburgh Titans, Book 18
By: Sawyer Bennett
Narrated by: C.J. Bloom, Connor Crais

Sawyer Bennett never ceases to amaze me, with her incredible writing style and ability to create stories that not only captivate your attention the entire time, but ones that tug at your heartstrings too. I can not get enough of this series, and with her eighteenth book of her wonderful “Pittsburgh Titans” series, we get Lucky, that is Matteo “Lucky” Branson! I adored Lucky from the moment I first met him and have been looking forward to his story and knowing more about him. Lucky is a personable, swoon-worthy man with a heart of gold, and always had luck on his side, that was until he met her, Winifred “Winnie” Shaw, the social media influencer who captured his attention, but does not want to give him the time of day. For the first time, Lucky needs to work to get what he wants, and it was great to watch his heart of gold melt for her. Winnie is a schoolteacher and earns extra money with her social media posts, and tired of dates that fall flat, she posts a dating challenge on her feed, looking to date an ordinary man, except she gets a date request with someone out of her league, one from the professional hockey league. Lucky is determined to prove he is that man, an ordinary man who wants a date or two or four, with her. I thought these two were great together and for each other, and it is great watching him step up his game and then getting to know each other. I liked how Ms. Bennett kept it real, showing the cruelty of social media and the effect it has on a person’s confidence. Kudos to Lucky for having his girl’s back and win for him in my book. I loved all the layers of this story and how it all played out, with the perfect balance of drama, angst, charming and heartwarming moments, heartfelt emotions and a swoony romance. A shout out to Winnie’s adorable Buttermilk, too! Sawyer Bennett, thank you for another fabulous story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Sawyer Bennett always casts the perfect narrators to bring her characters to life, and CJ Bloom and Connor Crais were just that, perfect in every way, from their character voices to their portrayal of each. I loved how they took each role and owned it, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters to sound. Both nailed it in the lead roles, completely embodying their personalities, and were naturals in their roles. Crais’s Lucky was swoon-worthy, perfectly playful and even humble, and Bloom captured Winnie’s fierceness, wittiness, and even her insecurities. They set the ideal tone for the story, handled the banter and witty dialogue with ease, landing the humor effortlessly. You could hear the passion in their performance, expressing every character’s feelings and making you feel them. These two are a perfect pairing, with voices and talent that complement each other and a captivating performance that hooks you to the story.

LUCKY is the eighteenth instalment in Sawyer Bennett’s contemporary, adult PITTSBURGH TITANS erotic, hockey romance series. This is hockey player Matteo ‘Lucky’ Branson, and twenty-seven year old, primary school teacher Winifred ‘Winnie’ Shaw’s story line. LUCKY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

SOME BACKGROUND: A couple of years earlier, a devastating plane crashed claimed all but three members of the Pittsburgh Titans hockey team including owners, coaches and staff. Rebuilding the team, owner Brienne Norcross, offered positions to one-time professional and semi-pro players. These are their stories.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Winnie and Lucky) LUCKY focuses on the building romance and relationship between our story line couple. Winnie Shaw is in a dating slump, and has been posting about her less than positive dating experiences but a self-imposed thirty day dating challenge finds Winnie coming face to face with professional hockey player Lucky Branson, a man who is willing to play the challenge with our story heroine heroine. Winnie Shaw is struggling with a low sense of self -esteem and in this is battling not only her inner voice but the trolls on TikTok who are determined to take her down.Wanting a normal life with a normal guy, Lucky is everything Winnie wasn’t looking for but as their relationship quickly grows into something more, our heroine finds herself the target of bullies and internet bashers, believing she is unworthy of a professional such as Lucky.

The world building focuses on the world of internet trolls; the need to be liked and popular in a disorderly world; and the growing love between two people who have posted their love-life online for the world to see.

The relationship between Lucky and Winnie begins as a challenge. Winnie claims to want to find a normal guy with normal desires but Lucky is more than she had bargained. As they continue to post about their love-life online, Winnie is quickly pulled down with the vitriol and hate directed towards our story line heroine. The $ex scenes are passionate and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

Once again, several of the Pittsburgh Titan team members and their significant others return as secondary and supporting characters. We are introduced to both Lucky and Winnie’s immediate families, including Lucky’s mother who continues to give her son some sage words of advice.

LUCKY is a story of family and friendships, relationships and love. The fast paced, character driven premise is edgy and emotional; the romance is fated and impassioned; the characters are determined and dynamic.

Lucky is book 18 of the Pittsburgh Titans series and follows Tik Tok King, Lucky, as he embarks on a relationship with Tik Tok Average Girl, Winnie.

Lucky was recently signed to the Pittsburgh Titans. No one, and I mean no one, expected his kind of crazy in the locker room. We met Lucky in Penn's book and quickly learned he is the king of social media, Tik Tok especially. But he also brings Mama Branson with him. And she is a gem to all of his teammates.

Winnie is a kindergarten teacher who started posting on Tik Tok about her dates gone wrong. She has a judgemental bunny that shares her screen time. She issues a dating challenge on Tik Tok that results in Lucky stitching her. And so their story begins.

Winnie just wants an average man to date. Lucky is anything but average. When she tells him as much, he decides to prove her wrong. But is this even possible?

I loved watching them get to know each other. They actually talked about what it is that they each wanted in a relationship and significant other. They shared about their family histories. They talked about their jobs. Considering these two are both influencers, it was refreshing to see them communicate.

Yes, they continue to post on Tik Tok. Both jointly and independently. I loved watching Winnie be real. Being vulnerable in her videos. But what I really hated was the haters. After awhile it started to take a toll on Winnie. Haters are going to be haters, but it is still hard to deal with day in and day out.

I loved watching the WAGs step up and envelop Winnie as one of theirs. They included her. They supported her. They treated her like family. Lucky's teammates also included her as one of their own and treated her like family.

There were a few funny moments in this story. The jar spaghetti sauce made me laugh out loud. But killing the tulip was just classic. As a plant killer myself, I was laughing since this is something I would do.

Winnie is so down to earth. And she settles Lucky. They need each other. They challenge each other. They can be themselves with each other. But they also force each other to step out of their comfort zones. Everyone should take a lesson from these two.

Connor Crais and CJ Bloom narrate this story. I have been listening to quite a few books narrated by CJ and have truly enjoyed her voice. It is soothing and vulnerable. Connor brings out the fun and flirty with his voice. Such a joy listening to these two.

**Audiobook Review**

Oh my goodness, I knew this goofy guy would be a swoony romantic. “Lucky” is a swoony, romantic and so sweet hockey romance that was a great addition to the “Pittsburgh Titans” series.

Matteo “Lucky” Branson is loving life right now. He’s elite when he’s on the ice, a massive fanbase when he’s on the ice and from the viral video he posts on TikTok and the nickname that matches that energy. And the last thing he was expecting was to come across Winnie Shaw on his algorithm. Winnie is a kindergarten teacher who shows her average life on TikTok and after a disastrous date, she makes a video just wanting to date an average guy. That gets Lucky’s attention and he stitches a video saying he’s game and wants a date. Lucky is anything but average with his high profile career and flashy car but Winnie eventually agrees. It was supposed to be one date but it’s clear from that first night, that any dates won’t be for social media.

I loved Lucky in the previous books, he has a personality that you can’t help but be drawn to. He’s confident, charismatic, and so genuine. He loves posting to TikTok and keeps it fun and light by doing any dance trends that are hot and showing some behind the scenes with the team. It was kismet for him to see Winnie’s video and I loved how these two met, it’s one of my favorite meet cutes. Winnie is just so sweet, caring and real. She posts things about being a kindergarten teacher and normal things in her everyday life. And I loved her judgy but loving rabbit, Buttermilk. The two had amazing chemistry from the beginning and I loved their banter when they were dating for the videos. Lucky is quick to realize that Winnie is something special and will do anything to prove that they have a real, genuine relationship. This story shows the good and the bad of social media. People sure are fearless behind a screen and keyboard and don’t blink twice about being a bully. Lucky and the rest of Titans show up for Winnie to let them know hate will never win. I loved the ending and I will be counting down the days until the next book.

Connor Crais and CJ Bloom narrated as Lucky and Winnie and they did an amazing job bringing this story to life. Connor’s narration was fun, flirty and protective just like Lucky. And CJ was amazing as Winnie. Her narration was genuine, caring and she was the perfect choice to bring Winnie to life.

Matteo “Lucky” Branson has leaned on social media to grow his popularity on and off the ice, following and creating videos sharing his charm and charisma. He is big into lucky charms and superstitions and looks for the lighter side of any encounter he can. But he is serious on the ice, and his hockey career is going strong.

Winnie is a kindergarten teacher who had a video go viral and has spent the time since building a caring supportive following on social media. She posts her average life, bad dates, and her judgemental pet rabbit. After a particularly bad date, she issues a challenge to her followers: she wants to find an average guy for her next date. A normal, average guy. But the attention she attracts includes a stitch from a hockey star promising laughs and snacks.

What started as a social media spotlight, shifts to real feelings. But when the ugly side of social media begins to encroach on their happiness, they both have to decide what they are willing to put out in the world, and what they choose to keep private.

I loved watching Lucky romance Winnie while also trying to convince her he is just a regular guy, despite the hockey. Seeing glimpses of this fun-loving guy with his mom and his friends had me rooting for him early on. I felt for Winnie, as she knew the brutal side of social media and faced its wrath more often than not. But it also kind of frustrated me that Lucky didn’t see it until things were pointed out to him. Regardless, they had to figure out how to navigate their feelings while also deciding how much of their dates to publicize.

Overall, this was a fun story, with great chemistry and fun cameos by Lucky's teammates. I am interested in the breadcrumbs about Atlas that are included as teasers for his book, coming next in the series. I think he is going to find himself in a situation that will break his heart and build it back together again.

Lucky Branson is one of the newer Titan hockey stars and a TikTok sensation. He is easy-going, hot, cocky, charming, and a bit over the top. And when he’s scrolling social media and sees a down-to-earth, honest, funny woman, throwing out a dating challenge, he decides to offer his services.

Winnie is smart, honest, sassy, practical, teacher and social media influencer. She just wants a decent, average guy who is smart and interesting. She feels like Lucky is way out of her league, but he’s determined to prove that he’s not and take her on some dates. And they’re bringing along their social media following for the ride.

Neither of them is looking for serious right away. It’s just supposed to be some fun dates. She’s supposed to be dating around and testing out the waters of the dating pool for her challenge. But Lucky finds himself wanting to get more of her attention for himself, and they have online people and a whole group of nosy hockey guys and their significant others pushing it along. It begins to feel more real and significant than it was supposed to.

I actually really liked these too. They’re just fun, honest, entertaining, and have great chemistry. It’s like every time they were together. It was just positive and surprising even to them, and they just wanted more of it. But they live different lives and have various pressures on them. It also illustrates the effect of social media these days on our lives, thoughts, and even self-worth. It can either be good and helpful or it can be bad and toxic.

This brings back many of the teammates and their significant others. I love how Lucky, as one of the new members of the team, is feeling so supported and that he’s found a home in his hockey family. I am excited for Atlas's story now, too.

Read if you like: hockey romance · social media challenges · opposites attract · grumpy/sunshine · found family vibes

📚 Matteo “Lucky” Branson has built his life on charm, rituals, and a lucky streak that’s never let him down. As a rising star on the Pittsburgh Titans and a TikTok sensation, he thrives on the spotlight—until a viral dating challenge pairs him with Winnie Shaw, a witty teacher and influencer who couldn’t care less about hockey fame. What begins as a fun experiment starts feeling a lot like fate.

👨‍👧 Lucky is cocky, charismatic, and just the right amount of ridiculous, while Winnie is grounded, smart, and refreshingly real. Their chemistry is undeniable from the moment they meet, even if she’s convinced he’s out of her league. Watching them banter, challenge each other, and slowly tear down their walls is pure joy.

💞 This romance is sweet, playful, and heartfelt. What starts as “just a few dates” quickly turns into something deeper, with both of them questioning what they truly want. The tension between fame and normalcy, public image and private feelings, adds an extra layer to their relationship.

👧 Fans of the Titans series will love the cameos from teammates and partners—Lucky’s new hockey family is loud, nosy, and impossible not to love. Their presence brings warmth and humor to every scene.

✍️ Sawyer Bennett’s writing is breezy and engaging, perfectly capturing the humor and heart behind a romance born in the age of social media. She also explores how online life shapes our self-worth and relationships without losing the fun, flirty tone.

🌟 Lucky is a feel-good, slow-build romance about taking risks and finding something real in a world obsessed with appearances. It’s charming, light-hearted, and full of swoony moments that will leave you smiling long after the final page.

Lucky's a Charmer

Review for ebook & audio

Sawyer Bennett's LUCKY, Pittsburgh Titans #18, was a fun, heartfelt, and entertaining read. An opposites attract, hockey player/kindergarten teacher, friends to lovers romance which has humour, flirting, sass, romance, and a rabbit you won't forget.

Matteo "Lucky" Branson plays for the Titans, he's charming, humourous, cocky, superstitious, talented, and believes in his never-ending lucky streak. He's a viral TikTok sensation and when he comes across an "average guy" dating challenge he can't resist accepting it. Winnie Shaw is a kindergarten teacher and a TikTok influencer, she's fun. quirky, relatable, and a breath of fresh air. When her "average guy" challenge draws the attention of a hockey player she's in two minds as to whether to accept his offer.

Lucky and Winnie are incredible together. They have sizzling chemistry, are fun and flirtatious, and share terrific banter. I enjoyed watching their friendship evolve, and how Winnie began to realise her was more than just a hockey player. I loved their "dates" and the reels they made for social media, but it's not long before the internet trolls start attacking Winnie, which leads her to question the relationship she's building with Lucky. He's steadfast in his feelings, but will he be able to convince Winnie?

🎧Audio Review🎧

CJ Bloom and Connor Crais excelled in bringing Lucky and Winnie to life. Their voices brought the humour, passion, flirtation, and quirkiness this story demanded. CJ's portrayal of Winnie was divine, her characteristics on full display whether she was a kindergarten teacher or a passionate woman, while Connor ensured Lucky's charm and protectiveness captured everyone's heart. They made listening, while reading, an enjoyable experience.

Sawyer Bennett never fails with her hockey stories, they are emotional, engaging and always have relatable characters. Lucky is a story of relationships, passion, found family, and support. I devoured this one quickly, it has definitely become my favorite of the series. I can't wait for the next book.

Lucky Branson has it all—an elite hockey career, a massive fanbase, and the kind of charm that trends effortlessly on TikTok.

Until I meet Winnie.

Sawyer Bennett hit it out of the park with this one! Lighthearted, entertaining, so cute and approachable! Who hasn’t watched and been entertained by TikTok? I usually cringe, laugh, and love the reels posted there, and it turns out that Lucky and Winnie are stars in the app. Lucky’s posts are cocky, funny, sometimes ridiculous, he doesn’t have any shame on showing his dance moves, and he has a huge following. Winnie is more like the average girl, showing her vulnerabilities and her desires of finding a decent, average man to date. Best of all, her posts include Buttermilk, her judgy pet, a rabbit who thumps his disapproval quite frequently, especially about his meal times.

When Winnie starts a challenge, thirty days of dating a nice, average man, and asks her followers for recommendations, Lucky chances on it, and offers himself as a date. And he’s struck dumb when Winnie doesn’t want him because he’s not average; he’s a famous pro hockey player!

It’s so cute when Lucky strives to be average, he couldn’t even if he wore a disguise. At least he carries great snacks all the time!

It took some convincing but Winnie gives in and dates the guy. He’s a great date, hits all the bookmarks of what an average date would do, follows her guidance, and they’re having a blast. Until the media, which was positive up to now, starts to turn dark and bullying.

I loved many things about the story, but what I loved the most was Winnie’s vulnerability and Lucky’s goodheartedness. He may be over the top, but underneath is a genuine guy who greatly appreciates a woman who is real, and it not afraid to be seen without makeup. Together they are dynamite, but the public was not kind.

I perceived the message about social media, that it’s not all positive and to be aware of the pitfalls. Cyber bullying is real and dangerous, and I love that the author addressed this issue. Apart from that, I loved the love story, the team mates who are always there wanting to know what’s going on, willing to help out, the girlfriends who embrace Winnie, and the steamy times. Oh, and Lucky’s calls to his momma asking for love advice!

This is book eighteen in the Pittsburgh Titans series. While I am new to the series and haven’t had the chance to read them all, this hockey world is exactly what I am here for.

Lucky is a famous hockey player who caters to his fans by constantly sharing everyday moments on social media. When he sees a sweet, average girl post about wanting normal guys to participate in her dating experiment, he cannot resist the challenge. Determined to prove that he can be just a regular guy despite his fame, he sets his sights on her.

Winnie is a kindergarten teacher who stumbled into social media influencing by accident. She shares her daily life in an authentic way and is open about her hilariously bad dating experiences. What she wants most is to find a decent guy she can date without it turning into a disaster. When she issues her online challenge, the last thing she expects is Lucky. He is far from average, but as he keeps showing up, it becomes harder and harder to keep her guard up.

This story was both sweet and heartfelt. I loved watching Lucky fall head over heels for Winnie, even before he realized what was happening. Winnie was used to her small online world with her adorable pet bunny, so she wasn’t ready for the fallout of dating a celebrity. The way the book handled the very real issue of cyberbullying was thoughtful and moving. By the end I had tears in my eyes, which is exactly what I love when an unlikely pair finds their way to love despite every obstacle.

Connor Crais is one of my favorite narrators, and he was perfect as Lucky. CJ Bloom was a wonderful Winnie, and together they brought the story to life in a way that made me feel like I was right there with the characters.

If you love hockey romances with opposites attract vibes that are both flirty and fun, this one definitely belongs on your list.
