A.K. Evans is a contemporary romance author of over twenty published novels. While she enjoys writing a good romantic suspense novel, Andrea’s favorite books to write have been her extreme sports romances. That might have something to do with the fact that she, along with her husband and two sons, can’t get enough of extreme sports.

Before becoming a writer, Andrea did a brief stint in the insurance and financial services industry and managed her husband’s performance automotive business. That love of extreme sports? She used to drive race cars!

When Andrea isn’t writing, she can be found homeschooling her two sons, doing yoga, snowboarding, reading, or traveling with her family. She and her husband are currently taking road trips throughout the country to visit all 50 states with their boys.

I found myself having to fight from skipping to the end to solve this mystery because there were SEVERAL possibilities. Is it Walter, who seems lonely but maybe is something more? Is it Eleni, who is super bitter and biting now? Or even Flora, or Eleni and Flora? Is it a “friend” who is truly anything but?

I refrained from skipping ahead, though, because I still needed all do the details. And as one person was marked safe, another side-eye or snarky comment erased half of that mark, just to have me at the beginning again. Landen is Iris’s rock through it all. First as acquaintances, then friends, then finally something more. For a slow burn, you find yourself forgetting that it’s slow since there is so much swirling around them, but it’s all worth the misery in the end.

Even if I’m a little sad to say goodbye to this series, I know that something else is coming our way. And I know that the last man standing didn’t want to be; he was just waiting for Iris.

This is the 21st book in this series. I have read all but a few. I think they are better read in order but can be read as stand alone books. Iris's world is crumbling around her. Iris and Landon know each other from the gym. Landon is the last single guy at Harper Security. He would love to have what the guys at work have but he hasn't meet the right person yet. Iris comes to Landon's work not knowing that he works there. She needs help. Something is happening and she has no idea what. All of a sudden things are going wrong at work she thinks someone maybe messing with her but she isn't sure. Just when things between Iris and Landon begin getting good everything else in her life begins to fall apart. Her friends don't want to talk to her anymore, things at work at falling apart, and her sister is upset with her. She feels so along. Landon is trying to help and support her but he can't find anything wrong. All his coworkers are telling him to watch for the other shoe to fall. After all, all of them ran into trouble when they found their women. This book was a great read. I loved that I couldn't guess who was behind things. I am sad to see the series end but loved it all the same. Fantastic job once again A.K. Evans.

Great ending to the series, but…

I loved Landon. The story was great, but a little anti-climatic for the end of a series. Especially when there was no big drama. It was a small matter that Iris went through - in comparison to some of the other violent or life threatening situations in most of the previous books in the series. Not that it was not important to Iris - but it was not dramatic enough.

I had really hoped for an epilogue to this specific book. And I had also hoped for a series recap. I like the way Claire Kingsley did the recap on the Bailey Brothers giving us a glimpse of their lives many years later. I like the way TL Swan did the same with her Miles High series - again taking us Into the future of each of the families. And other authors have done it as well. And I really always enjoy that at the end of a series.

I like epilogues that reach a distance into the future of the characters. Not the last chapter they got engaged, and then the epilogue is their wedding. I want to see a few years down the road when they have children. This book kind of did - but the ending felt rushed.

And what about her sisters? Are we gonna ever find out what happened with Flora’s and Eleni’s lives? The rushed ending hinted at Iris’ sisters possibly having spouses at the gender reveal/family dinner. It very briefly mentioned her parents and grandparents were there, but we never got to experience when Landen met her parents.

So while I felt the book was a little slow moving at the beginning, it was too rushed at the end. The thing that kept me invested in this was that I have loved the whole series for the most part, and I did love Landen‘s character.

So, all in all, and despite some of my less than positive comments here, it is definitely worth reading.

A twisty mystery throws Iris and Landen together and makes a great end to the series.

Iris is the woman who always sees good in everyone, she thrives on a challenge, she goes out and grabs what she wants, she's never met a stranger. But it would appear that someone has it in for our Iris. Just as she gets the promotion of a lifetime her professional life comes crashing down around her.

With nowhere else to go for help she turns to Landon, her gym buddy (and star of far too many smexy dreams) and private investigator. Landon and the HSO team pull out all the stops to help Iris figure out who wants her to crash and burn.

There's a good amount of matchmaking going on amongst the HSO guys and their other halves. Poor Landon didn't stand a chance once they started interfering! But along with the drama and the romance there is also the mystery of Walter, the elderly neighbour of Iris who has taken a paternal interest in her.

I felt so bad for Iris as her life unravelled and everyone who should have supported her drifted away without a backwards glance. The strained relationship with her sister is also weighing her down and she really struggles with why anyone would hate her this much. As the story unravels we get to eliminate suspects for one reason or another but it isn't until the final few chapters that the saboteur is revealed and it was a doozy!

Landon is the book boyfriend we all want. Strong, dependable, protective but willing to back us up and watch us take charge of our own life and give back up when it's needed. A worthy ending to a great series!

After 21 happy endings, the Harper Security Ops series comes to a close with Isolated. All stories are standalones with interconnected characters.

Iris is riding a high in her life and things keep going her way. The only thing she's missing is that special someone. Her crush at the gym seems to have put her squarely in the friend zone so in the meantime, she's focused on her wonderful career. That is until the most bizarre things start happening at work threatening to wreck all her hard work.

Landen is the last single guy standing at HSO and frankly, it's getting a little old. The best part of his day is seeing his "gym buddy" Iris but he's always been afraid to be the creepy gym guy who hits on her despite his overwhelming attraction. When she drops a subtle hint, he decides to take a chance and he's never been so glad for that 30 seconds of bravery. He never expects her to show up crying in his office but now he's determined to find the person making her cry.

This was a sweet couple. Once Landen stepped in, he was all the way in. I'm glad he was there as Iris' life hit the skids; we all need someone like Landen to have our backs and support us no matter what. The drama with the sisters drove me crazy (Eleni was straight bitchy) and went on a little too long IMO but I was sad for what she'd been through in the end. It was fun to see some of the other HSO couples and bring it full circle. Great ending to the series.

I write this with such a heavy heart because I can’t quite believe we’ve reached the end of the magnificent Harper Security Ops series. A.K. Evans has wrapped it up with Isolated, a brilliant slow-burn romantic suspense that delivers everything this genre promises—an engaging couple, a pulse-racing suspense thread, and a romance that builds with perfect tension and heart.

Iris is a heroine you can’t help but like. She arrived in Steel Ridge two years ago for a job and has always found her place among her colleagues. But recently, something has been happening that slowly isolates her from the people she once called friends at work. Feeling cut off and uncertain, she turns to the one person she knows she can trust—Landen, the steady and determined private investigator at Harper Security.

The two have been gym buddies for the past year, and though neither admitted it outright, their mutual attraction has always lingered between the lines. Now, as Iris finds herself in the middle of something far bigger than she expected, Landen becomes not just her confidant but her protector. She may feel isolated at work, but never with him. And when the truth finally comes to light, Landen is right by her side—strong, unwavering, and proving that sometimes love is the safest place to land.

The suspense element is gripping without overshadowing the romance, instead working in perfect balance with Iris and Landen’s emotional journey. Their connection grows stronger with every twist and turn, making the payoff all the more rewarding.

For longtime readers, Isolated is a bittersweet farewell to a series that has kept us hooked through heart-pounding action and swoon-worthy love stories. For new readers, it’s the perfect excuse to start at the beginning and binge the entire Harper Security Ops world.

Ms Evans couldn’t have ended on a higher note. Gripping, emotional, and deeply satisfying, Isolated is the kind of romance that stays with you long after the final page.

𝐈𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 is the 21th and final book in the Harper Security Ops series by A.K. Evans, featuring an entertaining romantic suspense story for Iris and Landen! Iris thinks things are finally falling into place when she scores a second promotion at work, until weird glitches and hard stares clue her in that something or someone is not on the up and up at work. Add that to some unusual sibling tension, and the only bright spot she’s left with on most days is her time with Landen Fox, her part-time gym buddy, full-time crush. She hoped his private investigating skills could help uncover the mystery at work, but they just might find a more important and lasting connection between the two of them.

It’s hard to believe we’ve reached the end of the HSO series, but what a journey it has been! I think I found this author around book 6 and was hooked and have been here ever since. She has somehow kept each story fresh, yet connected with the found family vibe and camaraderie. The suspense really stood out to me in this one. It was more of business focused plot, rather than the action-packed kidnapping type, but I was suspecting everyone at some point. As far as the friends to lovers romance, Landen and Iris were so sweet together! He was so supportive, and exactly what she needed. He was the perfect guy to fill the role of “the last man standing.” His woman was well worth the wait! It is, indeed, the end of an era, and I will miss these characters and their banter and friendships with each other.

I received an ARC for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Isolated is a sweet, slow burn romance with a side of mystery. Landen and Iris are so gorgeous together—I love that they build their friendship over time, and watching them open their hearts to each other is absolutely beautiful. Iris is an intense woman with serious drive and a loving and kind heart. The drama she is having with her sisters is an interesting part of the story, as is her neighbor Walter. Compounding those pieces with the mystery happening at her workplace, and it’s no wonder Iris turns to the one port in her perfect storm. Landen is cool, calm, collected, and the epitome of the alpha protector who will stand by your side through it all. I adore that his is the last love story of the series, and the tone and content fit his personality perfectly. As the last installment of the Harper Security Ops series, it is a quiet closing—there is no action or suspense, which readers familiar with the series have come to expect. However, the interpersonal relationships and the drama within those circumstances definitely brings it! This is more of an emotional read with complex situations, and the resolution is both satisfying and surprising.

The narrators deliver fantastic performances—I particularly enjoyed how each narrator voiced their oppositional characters’ roles in this one. The various voices and the energy and enthusiasm they put into each moment of the storytelling experience kept the pace moving and my ears fully engaged. Brava to AK Evans for a wonderfully built series!

I knew this day would come.

I have read the last book in the HSO series, and I’m upset.

This entire series is amazing, and if you don’t already have these books, you need to get them - today!! I am so very sad that this series has concluded, but, best believe, I will be binge re-reading this, ASAP!

This series has 21 happy endings, but each couple faces significant drama and danger on their way, and while this story isn’t as emotionally intense as Reagan and Hart’s, it’s still pretty relatable.

For the most part, Iris has everything in her life as she wants it. Working at a marketing company with a possible promotion on the horizon, supportive colleagues, and a loving family, life is good. That is, until things go wrong for no apparent reason. We’ve all been there, right? Living your “best life”, skipping along, only to trip and fall? I easily connected with her feelings, and with the difficulty of feeling lonely and lost on where to look for support. Been there, done that.

Landen is the only single HSO guy left, and witnessing everyone’s happy relationships daily is hard. Wanting something others have and not having it is frustrating, and while his friends are kind about it, it’s hard to be the only one single.

He was, as one might expect, very willing to hear Iris out and support her, employing his investigative talents to try and determine why she felt alienated and rejected by virtually everyone she knew. Once again, this is relatable, since feeling excluded is something nobody wants to experience, because it’s painful, and having no clear answers about why it’s happening makes the situation even worse. Sometimes you just need that one person who has your back, one different way of looking at something, that makes all the difference - and I love that Landen was the one to help Iris!! The pages turned themselves as the pieces of what happened pulled together, and I was done before I knew it.

This couple was very sweet together. Landen is exactly what we want in a HSO guy, and I really appreciated the purposeful intent of his actions and feelings towards Iris. Their undeniable chemistry and genuine attraction made the storyline’s satisfying conclusion all the more impactful. Ultimately, this is a great way to bring this series to a close.

Although I would normally recommend reading a series in order, this author makes it simple to read her books as stand-alone stories and later return to her catalog to explore the rest. Her series are addictive, original, interesting, and draw you effortlessly into the characters’ lives. I recommend this author’s entire catalog without reservation and look forward to seeing what she creates in the future!

Fortunate to have received and ARC (thank you) I happily leave my thoughts.

While reading this book, I was torn between taking my time reading Isolate and rushing to find out why and who was targeting Iris. Isolated is the final book in the exciting, brilliantly written Harper Security Ops series. Ms. Evans had my head spinning trying to figure out who would want to target the sweet and ambitious Iris. She worked hard for what she accomplished, but it seemed like everything in her life was not all sunshine and roses.
Iris and Landen were gym buddies, but who knew that he would end up being so much more in her life. He was there when she needed a true friend. Working at Harper, he offered to look into what happened at her work, but hit a dead end. As her life seemed to be spinning out of control, he was the one who held her and made her feel loved. I love how their relationship gradually went from friends to lovers, but it was a slow process.
The curves that Ms. Evans threw at us had my list of suspects growing, and it even included family members. Yes, I know that sounds weird, but when you read Isolated, you will understand.
Sorry to see this series come to an end, as I have enjoyed every book in it.

I've been a fan of this series since book 1 and I'm a little sad to see it come to an end. The final book brings us the story of Landen and Iris. Landen is the last of the Harper Security Ops men who haven't found their person. Although he is happy for all his friends he just wasn't sure love was in the cards for him. Iris moved to Steel Ridge a couple years ago and thought she had her life sorted out. Professionally yes. Personally-no. She met Landen at the gym and they hit it off but both thought the other person wasn't interested. This book is a little bit of a slow burn but it was worth the wait. When things happen that Iris can't explain she turns to Landen to help. Landen is ready to help and they both begin to realize that what they were looking for might have been right in front of them the whole time. Throughout this series the men of Harper Security have always been ready to step I. And step by when needed and Landen is no exception. This story was a great way to end the series and I'm ready for the next adventure that A.K. Evans wants to share with us! This book can be read as a stand alone but if you haven't read them it's a great series to give it a try.

Iris is ecstatic when her boss tells her she's on the short list for an promotion. But then things start happening that she can't explain. Missed meetings. Emails she never received. While this mystery is surrounding her work life, she starts interacting more with her gym partner Landen. They begin on friendly terms, talking more about things other than their workouts. When she's perplexed about what's going on with work, she turns to Landen for a listening ear and some help. He and his friends at Harper Security Ops do their best to get to the bottom of what can only be described as sabotage. Issues at work, budding relationship with Landen, something going on with one of her sisters, and her neighbor Walter acting strange all of a sudden, it's a lot for one person to handle. But Iris handles it all with grace. I loved how Iris made sure to check in with Walter, to be persistent with her sister, and to take Landen's help with solving the puzzle of work.

Melissa Moran and Aaron Shedlock were stellar narrators for these characters. They brought out each character's personalities and gave the story life.

I received a complimentary copy of the audiobook at my request and voluntarily left this review.

So bittersweet, the ending of the Harper Security Series Ops Series by AK Evans is here, book 21, Isolated.

Landen has been there and watched all of his co-workers find happiness by finding love and now he is feeling like he is really missing out.
Iris is enjoying her life and her job but she feels like something is missing! She loves going to gym not just to work out but because she has a massive crush on Landen but he has friend zoned her.

Wow, how can two people get their signals crossed so much, they each feel like the other has friend zoned them but that doesn’t last long.

Let me just say, I have not only read each one of these 21 books but I have had the opportunity to listen to them as well and this is one series that you just need to pick up and start! You don’t have to read them in order but it helps to keep the characters straight.

The narrators do an incredible job with Landen and Iris! Aaron Shedlock never disappoints with his character, and he does Landen flawlessly! Melissa Moran is a new narrator for me and she was perfect as Iris, refreshing and enjoyable!

Iris’s career is unfolding the way she wanted as she is about to receive her second promotion from her employer however it does take up a large portion of her life which doesn’t leave her much time for romance or friends. The only thing she always makes time for is working out at the gym and part of that is Landen, the man who has been her fitness buddy.

Landen has never wanted to make Iris feel uncomfortable, so he has never considered anything beyond their time together at the gym. When he realizes that she may want more he is all in especially when he realizes the stress she is under when it comes to her personal and professional life.

Both Iris and Landen are ready for love and relationship, but both were uncertain how the other felt. Once they give in to their feelings there was never any doubt they were meant to be together, and he is so supportive when Iris’s life becomes complicated and they need to find out why.

This is the 21st book in this phenomenal series, and this is Iris and Landen’s story.
Iris is sweet, ambitious, and hardworking, and she is happy with her life, with her family, friends, and a job to which she is devoted. Landen works for Harper Security, and he and Iris are gym buddies. When Iris’s life spirals out of control, she is left with the most important people in her life turning their backs on her. Landen if determined to help Iris and find out who is sabotaging her.
This is a well written story, which has family dynamics, friendships, emotions, challenges, mystery, drama, intrigue, suspense, tension, matchmaking, humor, witty banter, romance, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, and unpredictable addictive page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

This latest and last audiobook in the Harper Security Ops series belongs to Landen Fox.
Landen is the last single operative in the office. Though thrilled for his colleagues, he’s also a little jealous.
Meanwhile, Iris, works at a marketing agency . She love her job, one which she is doing great. she also loves her family and her mornings at the gym where she gets to spend some time with her gym buddie, Landen.
When Iris’s life is turned upside down, and her life starts to spiral, it’s Landen whom she turns to.
For this listener, the story was a little slow and with less action than the previous ones.
That said, it was entertaining. Even though the Harper group will be greatly missed.
Narrators Aaaron Shedlock and Melissa Moran bring the stories to life.
I was entrusted a copy of this audiobook. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

The last man of HSO has fallen and closed out the series perfectly. Iris and Landen had been dancing around each other at the gym for almost 2 years, neither giving into the attraction, until they do. They were the most delicious slow burn, and as the HSO men do, Landen fell fast and hard for Iris. Just as Iris' life is going better than she could have imagined, things start to fall apart with her family and her career. Landen jumps in to do what he can to make things better and helps unravel the mystery surrounding Iris' work drama. I particularly loved the epilogue as it wrapped up their HEA and left a smile on my face to know all the HSO men found their forever.

Melissa Moran and Aaron Shedlock gave a fantastic performance as Iris and Landen. They brought the story and couple to life with the perfect amount of sweet and suspense.

Isolated drew me in right away with Iris Gibson’s warmth and optimism. She’s easy to root for, which makes it all the more heartbreaking when her world starts to unravel. Landen Fox is the kind of protective, steady hero that balances Iris perfectly, and their chemistry builds in a way that feels both natural and rewarding.

The mystery element kept me turning the pages, and I liked how it gave depth to the romance without overshadowing it. A few moments felt a little drawn out, but overall this was an engaging, emotional read with just the right mix of suspense and love. A.K. Evans delivers another heartfelt story that leaves you believing in resilience, hope, and finding love when you least expect it.

A.K. Evans wraps up the Harper Security Ops series with a heartfelt finale. Isolated follows Iris, a driven marketing exec with little time for love, and Landen, the last single man at HSO who’s been quietly drawn to her for over a year.

When Iris’s career is threatened by strange and unsettling incidents, Landen steps in—offering protection, support, and ultimately his heart. Their slow-burn attraction finally sparks into something more, just as the stakes in both Iris’s work and personal life intensify.

This is a satisfying, emotional conclusion to the series—romantic, suspenseful, and full of heart. A must-read for fans of A.K. Evan's Harper Security Ops series.

Iris wants to find someone to share her life with and while she may not be actively looking, you just know she will find him. And could it be Ladon, the one from the gym? They both find themselves thinking it would be worth trying at least for a date. When Iris’ world comes crashing down on her she turns to Landon. Their romance and the danger she finds herself in keeps you turning the pages. Who is sabotaging her and the answer may surprise you.
And so it ends. This was a bittersweet read for me knowing that Harper Security is ending. Happy though because they have found their partners to carry on the legacy.

Harper Security Ops series is OUTSTANDING! I recommend all 21 of them 100%!
Iris and Landen after being gym buddies for almost 2 years their chemistry has only gotten stronger. Neither wants to ruin what they have if dating doesn't work out. Then strange things start to happen to Iris at work and she finally talks to Landen about it, he is a private investigator. A few mysterious things going on and even her sister stops talking to her! Can Landen and Harper Security Ops help her find out what's going on? Thank you Andrea for a tremendously surprising and sweet at the same time suspenseful romance! I received this book as an ARC reviewer and voluntarily leave my honest opinion.

Awesome action packed of drama and emotions as it was a steamy page turner and the suspense was so intense. I was on the verge of my seat and I couldn’t even put it down. It was like twisty mystery moment that had throws Iris and Landen together. One night with him will change her life forever and the chemistry between them was extremely explosive and spicy as the physical attraction was high level of intimacy and tension. Could this be love for the both of them in this magical moment of danger and chaos.
I definitely recommend this book and you won’t be disappointed. I received advance copy of this book via Bookfunnel and am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion. Trina Jones

Iris and Landon have been the bright spots in each other's mornings at the gym for almost two years. When Iris finally says something to indicate that she is interested in him, Landon has hope. Iris begins feeling isolated as weird things start happening at her work and she goes to Landon for comfort. Then other things happen at the same time, she and Landon grow closer. I loved their love story where Landon holds back wanting to enjoy the process, but communicates to Iris his intentions so she doesn't feel left out. The narrators did a marvelous job! I am sad to see this wonderful series end.

The end of a series is never fun, but I have absolutely loved each and every couple. Iris and Landen's friendship and gym relationship prior to it becoming more was fun to see unfold. This story is a sort of slow burn friends to lover's trope with a side of work drama, family issues, "who done it" vibe, and a grumpy neighbor who you just can't help but love.

As much as it stings to be finished with such a large group of characters and families, I can't wait to see what Evans brings for us next. Whatever it is, I'll be here for it!

Iris and Landon are just what I needed to end the Harper Security Ops series! They work so great as a couple before they can even see it for themselves. We’ve seen so many crises between the couples, some more extreme than others. Isolated had me a little more at ease with the suspense, but still enjoyed the mystery of “who is behind it all?”. I received an ARC of Isolated . I voluntarily read and reviewed it. All opinions are my own.

I loved returning to this series with a new book! This was another book that didn’t disappoint. Although it did not have the typical suspense elements this series has shown, it still had the great romance and a suspenseful situation that needed remedied. If only I could find Landon in real life but my age!!

If you enjoy happy ending romance stories, give it a read.

Good

I absolutely loved this while series. However, this was my least favorite for sure. One of my favorite aspects of this author's writing is the suspense... But this one didn't really have any. It started to pick up around 75% in. I will still always purchase her books because I love her writing, but this one just wasn't for me.

Audiobook Review

And the last man standing takes his shot and gets the girl!
Iris and Landen were the sweetest couple, having known each other for sometime but never taking the chance, until they do and it’s worth it. I liked that Landen was there for Iris when she needed someone.
Aaron Shedlock and Melissa Moran were great as Landen and Iris.
