Aliens have destroyed the Earth. They left behind eighteen million survivors who will never forget what has been done to their world. They turn to Mason Randle, who will do everything in his power to see that the Human race survives.
Earth can no longer support life. The Moon, Mars, and the asteroids now provide safe havens for the stunned survivors. They find a protector in Major Wade Nelson. A dedicated marine who is willing to take the fight to the enemy.
Marken is a Kivean. He is part of an alien race that helped Major Nelson and the other kidnapped military personnel escape from the Kleese. Because of his actions, his home world is now in danger.
How can eighteen million survivors bring down an Empire that controls thousands of worlds and is totally merciless? Find out in Galactic Empire Wars: Emergence the second book in this new military science fiction series.
I live in Clinton Oklahoma with my wife of 40 years and our cat. I attended college at SWOSU in Weatherford Oklahoma, majoring in Math with minors in Creative Writing and History.
My hobbies include watching soccer, reading, camping, and of course writing. I coached youth soccer for twelve years before moving on and becoming a high school soccer coach for thirteen more. I also enjoy playing with my five grandchildren. I have a very vivid imagination, which sometimes worries my friends. They never know what I am going to say or what I am going to do.
I am an avid reader and have a science fiction / fantasy collection of over two thousand paperbacks. The space program has always fascinated me and I've followed it since its inception. When I was a teenager, I wanted to be an astronaut. Now, I just write about it.
I have been reading a bunch of books by this author. I will tell you right now, he is a very, very good author. Both of the series I am reading (the other is “Slaver Wars”) are just fantastic books with superb story lines.
In this book we continue on after the Earth has been nearly destroyed by the Kleese. We are slowly but steadily trying to re-build our civilization using a stolen Kleese space station, the moon and several large asteroids. This is Mason Randle’s handy work. As the builder of this new civilization had done wonders in the few short years since he oversaw the evacuation of the Earth after the Kleese’s first destructive visit. The Humans along with their new friends, the Kiveans, are building not only a place for Humanity to live and survive but a place where we can eventually take the war back to the Kleese and get revenge for their destruction of Earth.
The Kiean’s are primarily non-aggressive but they have scientific capabilities far in advanced of Earth scientist which with the destruction of Earth are fewer than would hoped. Slowly, with a mixture of Human and Kivean technology, Mason is building a mighty war fighting force. They have already built two significant star fleets and are working on more simultaneously. They do not know when the next attack by the Kleese will happen but this time they will be ready!
The Kleese are getting pretty mad at this upstart Humans. They are preparing to send a Kleese fleet to destroy the Humans once and for all. They have already destroyed most of the Kievean’s home world except for one major city. I wonder if the Humans should try to recuse the surviving Kieveans?
You need to continue reading this series. There is a lot of action, numerous characters that are developed and a lot of down-right good reading. This is science fiction again at it’s best. We even get to read about the Kleese and their reactions to this Human annoyance. There’s still more to come in the next book. I can’t wait.
I had high hopes for this author and series, I struggled through the first book coping with the many issues, and hoping the author would find his stride and I would actually start to enjoy this, but this never happened. These books read like a video game, complete with a 13 year old's perspective and narrative. The science is laughable, and the characters totally one dimensional and unbelievable, the "aliens" are anthropomorphised to use human expressions, beliefs and culture. They simply look different. This series offers a thrilling story with very poor thought and execution. This series is not for anyone with an ounce of intelligence, avoid this at all costs.
To begin, please realize this is the second book in the series - you need to start with book 1, Galactic Empire Wars: Destruction (The Galactic Empire Wars Book 1), or this one may not make too much sense to you.
The author does a good job of picking right back up where he left off with book one. I like science fiction with a futuristic military bent, especially if it involves future tech that I am able to wrap my head around conceptually and the author delivers on this front. The battle scenes are a little more involved and plotted between the good guys and the bad guys and I found myself staying up late in an effort to finish it.
Similar to the first book in the series, there are a few typos here and there in the Kindle version that are annoying and make you stop reading, and I would recommend a proofer of the Kindle version.
I originally picked this up for free with my one monthly borrow as an Amazon Prime member vs. its normal price of $3.99: if you liked the first book in the series, I would recommend this one as you will get a heck of a lot more in entertainment value than your $3.99 purchase price.
This review covers the whole series. The premise and the story is great, give ir take a few McGuffins. The @jut” is this is a Juvenal, and is so written. It is full of Tom Swiftys (if you don’t know what that is, look up Victor Appleton Pere and Fils) I still liked the books, a lot actually, but you should be aware what you’re in for when you read it. I’m looking forward to our author continuing the story, but with a more adult style. That way I won’t be snorting every three pages.

The great Heinline wrote for Juvies and adults. So can our author, and I look forward to the next edition.
Not nearly as good as the first in this series, Emergence still holds to the fast paced story telling and grand battles. The dialog and day to day progression tends to be a bit clunky and can drag. All in all still looking forward to the third installment in this series.
Intergalactic war on a massive scale, with the humans as the plucky underdogs. Great characters with realistic situations and lots of action. I look forward to the next one 😀
Well another great read looking forward to the next one in the series Rebellion. Well thought out storylines. Also like the art on the book covers. Well done
I have to say that I really liked this book. It is definitely my type of book. Big bad guys comes and wrecks havoc with the human civilization thinking we are little more than cattle that can be disposed of how and when they feel like it. Big bad guys are about to learn that they might be bigger but the humans sure as hell are “badder”. There are plenty of action in this book and it is a nice mix between marine ground action and fleet action in space. I truly enjoyed this.
The book is as well written as most of the other books that I have read from this author (which is most of the books that he has written). This means that the science is plausible in a science fiction kind of way, the characters are nice and the story is a good one. The story might be a bit light compared to some books but I rather have a light adventure story with a good mix of action, character development and bits and pieces that rounds off the scenario than a deep story that spends way too much time on character interaction and political nonsense.
Speaking of political nonsense. I really like how they are dealing with the surviving career politicians. I whish we could do that right now. Especially when it comes to the useless money wasters in the European Union.
I also quite like how the humans constantly manages to repeatedly either outgun or outsmart the overconfident Kleese. Sometimes they do both at the same time. I really do not like stories where the humans are the constant underdogs that are simply overrun all the time and just hangs on by some chain of bizarre events or by the mercy of some aliens.
If I would complain about something it would be this business with the Strell empire. Obviously I am not going into any details since that would be a huge spoiler but I am not entirely comfortable with that bit. Apart from not feeling entirely right morally it also feels like a very dangerous course of action that I am pretty sure would backfire in a real situation.
Well, I am eagerly looking forward to the next instalment in this book series. From the ending of this book it looks like there will be some “interesting” times ahead for the human survivors and their allies.
This is a good continuation of the Galactic Empire Wars series. Lots of action as the Humans bring the war to the Kleese. There is a lot going on in this book and I won't give it away but will mention that the Humans are instigating war between the Kleese and one of the other empire building races. This has great potential to backfire because the Kleese have a secret weapon held in reserve they are about to deploy and things well get messy.
My only problem with this series is the way women are depicted. True, some are leaders in the military but when not fighting women are depicted as being domestic homebodies, more concerned with baking, cooking, family, and shopping than I would expect. It's so 1950's in tone. In fact, relations between the sexes are remarkably 1950's and early 1960's, certainly pre sexual revolution, in nature. There's also an emotional flatness between characters as if they are puppets who exist to simply move the plot along.
Despite that, I am enjoying the series and look forward to reading the next book.
Nice balance of action, light politics, and character growth. It gets to slow in places but otherwise I liked it. Really enjoy the parts where perspective changes to the alien empire and the leaders talk about things. The humans also have parts where their leaders discuss actions and strategy. These parts are brief and go into some detail but not to much thus why I say light politics. Plenty of action with variety of space battles and ground mech based combat. Scattered around between action and more political parts the book takes some time with each main character. Telling us of their worries and personal fears along with their triumphs and how war is effecting their mindsets and relationships. This book shows the peoples of Earth and their alien allies stating to prep for war, building ships and defenses. They have won some important battles but to win the war they will have to develop and rely on a controversial and dangerous technology. Earths power is growing but will it grow fast enough to counter a dangerous new side of the alien empire? I'm reading book 3 to find out.
A lot of activity is crammed into this short book. The characters are still pretty two dimensional but at least they are more like card board cut-outs instead of paper... There was a great deal that transpired in this story and I was worried that Weil would leave us hanging until the next book came out to finish this off. I was surprised to see that all the loose ends were tied off, maybe it was a little rushed in the finish, but it all came together more or less.
While still mostly predictable, it is a fun read and I will wait for the next book this winter.
I enjoyed this book it was a nice sequel to the first, the character from the first one are back and they are expanded making them even more interesting to read about. I really enjoy that the humans are finally taking the first to the Kleese instead of just being on the defense of attack after attack. I think the author did a good job showing the consequences of their actions from the first book which is something not all authors take into account. Overall a good book and a worth while read. Also for some reason i am liking Marken more and more.
Great continuation of Galactic Empire Wars series. Love the character developments and interactions between main characters. The battles was easy to follow and nicely paced. This is one series I hope continues because I know I'm waiting for the next installment already! Great writing Mr. Weil, hope to see more of this great series soon!
So easy to relate with the characters. I love the multitude of fronts and action. These books haven't disappointed with the exception that the next book isn't ready yet! Absolutely looking forward to the next installment of this series!! Very well done and very enjoyable reads!
As usual Raymond Weil has written a winner again. Galactic Empire Wars: Emergence is an excellent read, well edited and filled with both combat and human interest. I recommend it to all.
I have to admit I'm a fan of the serious, very enjoyable book, can't recommend enough. I suggest you read the series in order though, so you have a better understanding of what's happening.
Excellent chapter in the saga. Ready for the third book. Well written and well edited, continues the tale of the human war against the Kleese Empire. The characters are well developed and the storyline sets a fast pace and keeps the action going.
I do like the story line behind this book. The thought of an alien race destroying earth and the majority of the human race is interesting. With the humans on the verge of extinction what do they do? The humans fight back and fight back hard. I do enjoy this book. Looking forward to number 3.
It took a moment to get thoroughly engrossed but the final out was more than satisfying. The characters and the action in the book drive the story. I am stoked to the read this series.
Plenty of editing errors and continuity mistakes. No suspense or character progression at all. This series is like candy, sweet and mildly enjoyable. And like candy, I await the next installment.
Rarely do I skim a book. I did this one. I'll continue to read the saga because the story line although predictable, does hold my interest. But I'll do it from free libraries.
