After reading 20 pages at 9 pm, my stomach was growling while my browsers full of many French cuisine names.
The story was told by the eyes of Takatsuki, the staff in 'Bistro Pas Mal', cosy french restaurant in Japan. Each chapter was about their customers and their unique problems or stories which, as in Deru Cafe (คาเฟ่ลูส), always related to food. So these are described as Cozy Mystery.
For the mystery part, I think this one is lighter than what happened in Deru Cafe book. But how to solve the mystery cases were very thoroughly and beautiful.
Overall, I like this book just like the other two. But Deru Cafe is my most favourite book of Fumie Kondo still.
Really cute book. I read this one in Japan, bought it from a shop in Osaka in a small book store at the Minoh falls. A place you should visit in autumn when you are in Japan. I did not read it for a long time, also because my japanese level was not as good as I wanted it to be. The book consists of short stories, based on customers coming into the French restaurant in Japan. Often about solving a mistery the book is written in a interesting and sometimes thrilling way. Every story has his right to be there and has a message it wants to convey. It means a lot to me now. Talking also often about love, I really connect this book to my girlfriend who I met here in Japan. She always wanted to read it, so I gave it to her and we talked a lot about it, after she finished reading it. Her message she wrote me, when she gave it back to me, is still in the book.
Kondo Fumie did it again. タルト・タタンの夢 is a perfect blend between cozy and mysterious. It's kind and clever, but never pompous. The kind of book that makes you feel good no matter what. I don't have much to say because this is a book that needs first-hand experience in order to properly understand its warmth, but I do recommend everyone to give at least one of her books a try.
It was quite interesting to read and food description was like so delicious! It is categorised as mystery novel, but no one is killed and there is no blood. Food related mystery was so exquisite plot.
