Parker the old as heck Vampire and Allie, miss perfect. I did enjoy this, the story is clunky and the characters don't stay in character. But it's yummy HP-like entertaining cheese. This one reads like two books. In book one, Parker is a douche nozzle who harps on about his beloved first mate. There's very little said about Liz except that she lived in a small village with a Chief??? A Chief? and her name is 'Liz'?? I have no clue where, when, why, how??. Anyways just ignore strange large holes in the plot and story... But Parker clings to fading memory of Liz with mindless self pity. You don't feel the love for Liz that makes him cling so hard to her memory. He's been listening to Allie's night time radio show for months and everyone suspects she is his mate long before he does. Even when he does he still refuses to accept it for first one reason and then another. In the meantime, Allie is being stalked by a crazed human psycho and Parker's sister is her new bodyguard/bff. The second part of the story is after Parker 'wakes and smells the coffee'. Parker's character changes from the old bad ass moody Vampire to a kinda lovelorn man-child. Not a good look, but some good grovelling. Hence the 3 stars. I did like that Allie wasn't ready to trust his 180 reversal. For me it was too much telling and not enough showing. Why do they love each other? Is it just instinctual or because she's such a perfect goody two shoes? Is it just sex? What's to like about him other than his hot body? All she's seen of him is from flat on her back or him getting PO'd about something. Still a satisfyingly predictable and mildly angsty read.
I needed this fluffy little mindless read after the monstrosity of my last depressing read, so I might have enjoyed it more than it deserves, but it hit the spot. Trashy pnr smut with a hint of rejected mate, but it isn’t a masterpiece by any means. I mean his ex-mate died over 300 years earlier, was a Native American, and her name was Liz. And the H is a 500-year-old vampire named, Parker.🤷♀️
Allie is a 27 yr-old radio host that has a stalker. Parker is a 500+ yr-old vampire that is drawn to her voice. His sister notices and suspects she might be his second chance mate (his mate was murdered years earlier) and decides to intervene. Stuff happens, they meet, and Parker realizes she’s his mate, but he’s only interested in sex.
The book is basically divided into two parts with two different Parkers. The first ½ Parker is a jerk that is constantly pushing Allie away, Then the second he’s super-duper into her.
Bottom Line- This is a quick fluffy smutty read. It sort of reads like those Howls romances.
After reading Reclaiming his discarded mate I thought I will like reading other similar books by Emma Anderson and since this one was a vampire one, I gave it a go. I thought since the first one was good with mild angst and the H wasn't a an asshole with good grovelling, I thought this one would be too. Oh boy! How wrong I was. Not only this H was much much much worse than the first one, but his whole family was pathetic. The sister and mother not only manipulated the h into their lives and into their home, but pushed her to his bed quite literally without giving her any proper explanation..okay they thought he will explain everything to her and they'll sort it out, but even after knowing how he treated her, they still manipulated her into coming to him a second time. Like she was a paid whore whose sole purpose was to please the H. I can't believe what a bunch of selfish pricks they were. They knew he doesn't treat her well and they knew Allie is a sweet and kind girl who'll not dissappoint them and can't refuse him because of the mating bond, still they told her to come to Him because he was devasted. Nobody cared that she would treated badly like a whore AGAIN. Allie didn't deserve this. I hated the H and his family with my core. I wanted to dnf it but since it's already such a short book I kept going. The only good thing about Emma Anderson books is that they don't have a virgin heroine. It's such a breath of fresh air after reading all the sexist and misogynistic female writers write about manwhore asshole H and virgin untouched or terribly inexperienced h. It was becoming so annoying. so one extra star for that.
Not impressed by this one. The hero is a vampire who lost his wife and kid, she was his mate. The heroine is his second chance mate but he refuses to have anything to do with her because he’s hung up on his dead wife. He only uses her for sex and she accepts. She’s a human. In the end he realizes he can love her and his dead wife both. Oh the romanticism. A book with zero impact on me, I will soon forget it.
I loved it. I loved the storyline and the characters. Parker, is the head of the vampires in his area. His been through alot in his five hundred and fourty three years and he has no room in his heart for anyone else even when he meets his second chance of having a mate, a family. When he does meet her he is arrogant and a real arse. Allie, is just your everday girl, she's sweet, compassionate and warm. Allie drops everything, her job, her life and moves back to live and look after her dying mother. This journey takes us through two peoples lives who are as different as night and day and both their lives are spiralling out of control. A little bit of interference from a loved one causes all sorts of agitation, anxiety and heartache for both Parker & Allie. When Parker's best friend opens his eyes to what he has been given, a second chance, Parker realises what his done but will he get that chance as Allie has a stalker and her days are limited. I loved it and it's a credit to Emma!!!
