Rafe Savaryn is happy. He's in Venice writing a novel on the Renaissance, enjoying being alone after a devastating divorce. He's trying to answer the question, what makes societies fail? Then a stunningly beautiful woman walks into his life and leads him on a horrifying journey back to the Dark Ages where the answer to his question is revealed. He is shocked as he must make a choice no one should have to make. I won't give away any more of the plot but I will say, "Fasten your seat belt! It's a roller coaster ride of history, suspense, and thrills!" The answer to the question is right in front of you.

L. Todd Wood graduated from U.S. Air Force Academy in 1986 and chose helicopter flight training. An assignment to the 20th Special Operations Squadron flying MH-53J Pave Low helicopters saw him deployed globally in support of counter terrorism. His customers included SEAL Team 6 and Delta Force under control of the National Command Authority. In 1994, he left the Air Force as a Captain and joined an investment bank which eventually brought him to Wall Street trading emerging market debt. He has conducted business in over forty countries. His first novel, " Currency", was published in December of 2011. Although historical fiction, it jumps to the future to deal with the national debt and its security implications. " Currency" has been endorsed by the Hon. David M. Walker, former Comptroller General of the U.S. The book has received national press and extraordinary reviews.

He is a national security columnist for the Washington Times and has contributed to Fox Business, NY Post, The Moscow Times, Zero Hedge, Breitbart, Jerusalem Post, and others.

(This is NOT a Connor Murray story, BTW. On Amazon, it lists this book as part of that series.)

What this is, is a book I had difficulty putting down. Mostly because I was waiting for the good guys to show up. I kept waiting. 3.5 stars because of the depressing nature of the book.

"Currency" is still my favorite L. Todd Wood book to date. We'll see how "Motherland" pans out.

I really liked this one-up until the end. To me, the end was kind of hokey. I loved the fast paced-ness of the book, LOVED all the historical information and the kidnapping kept you in a desperate way, wanting to not put the book down to see what happened.

L. Todd Wood's is back with a marvelous new thriller and in my opinion it is his best so far! True to his distinctive style of smooth and intelligent storytelling, he sends the new protagonist Rafe Savaryn on a fast-paced journey across modern day Europe, Russia and the USA. As usual for L.Todd Wood, the action-laden narrative takes many twist and turns that are spun around well researched historical events reaching from ancient Persia through the Roman Empire and the heyday of the Kievan Rus to our time. At least as provocative and insightful as 'Currency' and 'Sugar' that turned out to be rather clairvoyant over the last months' world events, 'Delta' pleasantly seduces the thinking reader to look and see beyond the obvious.

This is the second time Todd has sent me a book to review and I was amazed at how much he's grown as an author. Once I dug into Delta, I couldn't put it down. Wood delivers a relentlessy fast-paced historical novel that takes the reader for one hell of a ride. Meticuously researched this book will not disapoint.

Overall a good rad. There are some plot holes that leave you wondering, but overall not too bad. It's obvious the author's opinion on the current state of our society. Lots of historical background information which helps fill in some of the holes.

The books written by L. Todd Wood are very interesting and throughly thought through. There is history tied in along the way, they make you stop and think. I really enjoy his writing.
