Fresh out of divinity school, Rev. Samantha Evans is ready to conquer the world for Christ. She lands in Moose Creek, Maine, a tiny backwater town with more moose per square mile than men. Even worse, one of her new parishioners chews up new ministers for breakfast, and he’s hell-bent on sending her packing. Forest ranger Eric Palmer is done with women. Determined to live simply with no encumbrances, he’s moved to Northern Maine to study the moose population. With Christmas right around the corner, he runs into his buddy, Sammie, the girl who’d been his best friend when they were teenagers. Unlike most of the women in his life, he trusts her implicitly. But could she ever be more than a friend? When Samantha’s career is on the line, Eric must save her job and rescue his own shattered heart in the process. But how does Matilda the town moose factor in?

Jan Elder is a Christian romance writer with a zeal for telling relatable stories. She strives to write the kind of book that will strengthen the reader’s faith, while also providing an entertaining and engrossing love story.

Besides writing romance, she enjoys the occasional caramel cappuccino while watching Turner Classic Movies. Always an avid reader, she devours books voraciously, both Christian and secular. She was born an animal-lover and all books will, no doubt, feature a cat or dog in some way or another.

Happily married for over twenty years to loving (and supportive) best-in-the world-husband, Steve, the two live at the gateway to Western Maryland with Kassie Rae (a mini-black panther with an amazing sense of humor), and Looney Tunes (a svelte and oh-so-silly black and white tuxedo cat.) On the weekends, Jan and Steve comb the countryside in search of fabulous ice cream flavors.

A Christmas joy to read!

Humor, love, great chemistry between the characters, this book has it all. And to top it off, it's a Christmas story that'll lighten your holiday spirit. Jan Elder has done it again and hooked me from the first page with her witty writing style and kept me enthralled to the end. I can't wait to get the next book in the series.

What a fun Christmas, Christian romantic story! A moose named Matilda sure thinks she owns the town. The Ranger and the new lady Minister find themselves helping out whenever Matilda causes trouble and finding themselves renewing a childhood friendship too. Some fun, laugh out loud situations and a sweet romance, what more could you want?

Tis the season for Christmas romances! Isn’t any time of year Christmas romance season? “Moostletoe” would be fun to read anytime.

Jan Elder has given us holiday fans a light-hearted and wholesome story. She bases it firmly on faith, and decorates with the north woods of Maine, a lively and lovely little town, and a bewildered moose. Her Maine characters (see what I did there?) are Samantha, a fresh-from-seminary pastor at her first church assignment, and Eric, a forest ranger who knows almost everything there is to know about the moose population. Add some appealing supporting players and a church curmudgeon and a cat named Jezebel and an old flame, and you have all the trimmings for a sweet Christmas romance.

I read this in the collection Frosting and Flurries: Five Delicious Christmas Romances, and it was the first book I had read from this author. This is part of my review from them: This was just a FUN book to read, in addition to learning little tidbits about moose. Themes of trust and forgiveness are woven through the story. My favorite quote is: “Why was he still lounging in the nest?” At the end is another yummy recipe: Janice Bittner’s Chocolate Moostletoe Cake.

I read this delightful novella in Frosting and Flurries: Five Delicious Christmas Romances (boxed set). As a retired pastor's wife, I identified with Rev. Samantha Evans. Jan Elder understands the expectations that modern day parishioners often place on pastors in small communities, especially during the Christmas season. As a reader and retired English teacher, I enjoy reading stories with an expected twist - insightful moose behavioral details. A Chocolate MOOSTLETOE Cake recipe is included. Christmas, moose, and chocolate makes an inspirational read.

I thoroughly enjoyed this nicely written delightful story. Samantha and Eric have a few ups and downs as they get to know each other. Matilda is a perfect choice for getting them together in the first place. How it all works out is a truly fun and enjoyable read. Highly recommend.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The characters are believable, and the humor is done just right. Also, since I'm a Free Methodist, it was fun to have that church be in the book.
