This story, was simply absolutely beautiful. I cried from the very first page, to the very last page, but it was such a beautiful journey. Watching Lia mourn and grow, with the help of her friends, make mistakes, learn from said mistakes- was a journey that had me in awe. I simply cannot recommend this book enough
My enjoyment as an almost 30 year old was a 3 star. But I can recognize good writing and the fact I would’ve ate this up in middle school so for moral reasons this rating had to be a 4 lol.
Everything I promised you reminded me of if he had been with me
I wish there was more details on becks death not just that he died after taking to Millie hours before coming home
Two families are stationed together in the military. Beck’s mother gets a psychic reading in it all ends up true she ends up becoming a teacher, falling in love with a military man and having a child. Beck and Millie are the kids of these families. Millie and Beck end up dating. But Beck passes away their senior year of high school right before they move to North Carolina. (Millie - Amelia. )
Story is told in a back and forth manner.
Hannah (Millie’s mother) feel pregnant again and lost the baby - Millie through it was because the fortune teller always said she would only bare one kid. Hannah’s best friend is becks mom Bernie
At the new school she makes friends easily with Megan and Sophia they are dating and Paloma who moved from cali the year before is dating Liam
She applies at the school beck went too.
Isaiah is the new boy she’s been kinda flirting with
Isaiah was raised in foster care and had a horrible home life
When her parents find out about Millie and Isiah they can’t believe it because of beck duing
Millie is now going back to Virginia dir Connor (beck’s ) dads retirement and taking Isiah
The parents end up wanting to meet Isaiah. Millie does not take him to Connor‘s retirement party, but she shows him around Washington DC. And the epilogue you learned that Millie also went to a tarot reader like her mother did. That is where she learned shortly after she lost back that she would find love again

I think I hate myself because I went from an emotional romance to an emotional YA romance. This was so good too! The chapters were short and it kept my attention so easily. But it was so beautifully told too. It is a YA but I personally think it’s the perfect YA. I’m so happy I did pick it up because it was so good and the storyline was so good and recommend it to everyone to read it if you like YA!
Lia's fate was determined before she was even born. Her soulmate would be her Mom's best friend's son. It worked out perfectly since Lia and Beck grew up together, becoming best friends, moving from city to city because of their Army-brat life and falling in love in the process. What did NOT go well was Beck dying.
Lia's entire life is flipped senior year of high school.
What I LOVED about this book was going through this incredibly difficult moment and seeing the other side. Lia IS flawed. And she is going through every emotion a very young age but seeing her relationship with her family change, her friends and then eventually starting to have feelings for Isiah at school, can she do that to Beck?? Nothing is perfect here, it's messy and that's life. A beautiful story.
I think this will be the next big YA hit so mark your calendars for 1/28/25.
For fans of Laura Nowlin's, If He Had Been With Me.
everything I promised you follows teenage Lia after the death of her boyfriend, the boy she grew up with and was told was her soulmate way long before they both were even born.
after the death of her boyfriend, Lia and her family move to Tennessee to start fresh. Lia has completely isolated herself from the people in her life before her boyfriend died. now, she is in a new town with new people. Lia finds herself friends she can open up to, and even a possible new romance which she never thought would have ever happened.
this book is overall very beautiful. it’s a coming of age story filled with grief, lessons, new friendships, and learning life as if is and where our place is in this world. this book was so so good but hit the heart so incredibly much..
and thank you so much Sourcebooks Fire for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!
What a heartbreaking read. This is a book about grief, and the steps and support needed to overcome it. Lia's mom visits a fortune teller when she is only 17. The fortune teller informs her she will lose her father before she graduates high school, meet her soulmate (her best friend.) and meet the love of her life. She will have only one child. A girl with her fathers eyes who will marry her best friends son. Lia has been told this story over and over as a child. By the time she is 10 year old, she has already determined that Becks heart belongs to her. When tragedy strikes Lia is left heartbroken and angry. Angry at the fortuneteller, angry , at her mother, and angry at the world. Beckett loved Lia and we get to see that in the flashbacks of them growing up together and slowly falling. In the present day Lia is struggling there are little reminders of Beckett everywhere , sometimes in little details like his favorite food, and sometimes in big days like his birthday. As Lia and Becketts mom fight to overcome their overwhelming grief, Lia makes new friends that help her along the way in taking baby steps towards healing. I loved this book. It was well written and realistic. I highly recommend for those who can handle an emotional read. It was heavy and I did have to set it aside at time for fear of crying. But that just shows what a great job this author has done.

What happens when the life you were destined to live is no longer possible? Lia and Beck had been told since birth that they were supposed to fall in love, get married, and live happily ever after. This was the path that they found themselves taking until the unfathomable happens and Beck dies. This is such a beautiful story about climbing out of the depths of grief and discovering that you are capable of loving someone else. My favorite line in the book is when Lia learns that instead of treasuring her past, she had let it control her. You will fall in love with the characters in this book. They have so much depth that you feel that they are a part of your life. This is one of the best books that I have read in quite some time. I recommend it highly to anyone who loves a story full of hope and overcoming grief.
A beautiful story of love & loss that I will forever and always recommend First 5 star read of 2025! This book was absolutely beautiful in every way. It made me cry, made me laugh & kick my feet, then made me stare at a wall with hundreds of thoughts running through my mind. (Full review will be posted on publication date!)
Thank you@sourcebooksfire and @katyupperman for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC.
This was like the continuation of If he had been with me that I have always wanted. The characters, the story, Isaiah, all 10/10. I really liked how she explained being a child of a military member and having to move a lot. It was also cool to see the cities that they lived in, it really gave a sense of reality with this book. Katy Upperman has truly written an absolutely amazing story and I can't wait for it to be released so I can recommend it to my friends.
Thank you so much to Sourcebooks Fire and Katy Upperman for giving me an arc!
She’s known Beck all her life and was basically in love with him her whole life but is open to start dating someone new a little less than a year after his death??? Eighteen months after his death she’s in love with Isaiah??? Isaiah wants her to say she’s over Beck eighteen months after his death??? He assumes he’s going to Beck’s dad’s ceremony??? and then gets mad when she says no??? she should’ve just stayed single.

I think I would have liked this book more if I was younger. Just a bit too young and immature for me. A 3 star story for me but the writing was good so bumped to a 4.
"I once read that falling for a new person after the death of someone you love means the first relationship was truly special. Otherwise, why would your heart risk trying again?"
Actual rating: 4.5 As someone who loved If He Had Been With Me, A Thousand Boy Kisses, and You’ve Reached Sam, I’d highly recommend this to anyone else who did too. Similar to the former, Everything I Promised You was written with short chapters in different timelines across Lia’s entire childhood with Beck and her now.
This story was simply beautiful. It follows Lia along her healing journey after her boyfriend, her best friend, her childhood, her entire life: Beck, died. In a new place a year later, she meets someone new but she’s scared to admit there might be a second chance for her. All the friends she gained helped her in every way they could, both lightening and deepening her situations. There’s no comparing Beck and Isaiah, each played a different role in her life and would do anything for her. The sudden timeline jumps through the chapters never once confused me because it was so obvious of how different she felt, how different her life was at each stage. This book was about hurting and healing and everything in between.
This was so super sweet. It was such a beautiful and emotional story of love, loss and grief. The emotions were heavy. Watching Lia come back to life after such a dreadful loss throughout the story is uplifting. I can’t imagine going through what she went through and I admire her strength. Isaiah seems so perfect for her. He’s so understanding of her circumstances and was hesitant to be completely honest about how he felt about Lia. He took care of her, treated her with respect and is overall a perfect match for her. I loved how this story ended. The Epilogue was a really nice touch to add to the story.
I read it in one night, so it’s a super quick read, if that’s what you’re looking for. It was an extremely well written YA novel about grief and love, but it just didn’t do it for me. Too predictable, too fast paced, too many loose ends.
me ha gustado mucho esta historia estaban predestinados a acabar juntos . cuando una tragedia acaba con la vida de el . Podrá recuperarse su corazón de la pérdida y encontrar un nuevo amor 💘
The writing was good but I think my dislike for it may be because I wasn’t really in the mood for a tearful read/downer type of read. Maybe I’ll re-read it at another time when I need an emotional cleanse.
***Trigger warnings: Loss of a loved one, and miscarriage***
Everything I promised you follows Lisa whose best friend Beck passes away/ She does not know how to move on without him. She is trying to do her best to live a life without him.
I did not like this. I am sorry I just didn't. This book was way too deep to be a YA book in my opinion. It also is listed as a romance book but I didn't really get that vibe at all. This book was pretty onenote. I found myself pretty bored. I wanted to like this one but I just didn't. If I did not get sent this book I know I would not have read it. I don't think this is an author for me. But I do think that this book would have worked better for an adult book.
Thank you Sourebooks Fire of the copy of this one.
4.5⭐️ oh I loved this book🥹 I read it within a couple of hours! if you loved a thousand boy kisses you’ll love this book too✨ it’s about the journey and story of grief from a 17 year old girl who had grown up being best friends and lovers with a boy, who then tragically passed away. her journey through grief, their love story together and her trying to move forward with her life after the passing🩵 so beautiful, well written and such an emotional story that I just couldn’t put down.✨🤍
quotes I loved: - “a nurtures heart beats within you. you were born to love.”
-“I care because she’s my best friend.” beck said. “and if you touch her again, I’ll fxking end you.”
-“I once read that falling for a new person after the death of someone you love means the first relationship was truly special. otherwise, why would your heart risk trying again?”
-if loving beck was was a serene snow dusting, falling for isaiah is a blizzard: fierce, disorienting, thrilling. I shiver, burrowing into his hug, committed to riding out the storm.
-“I’m happy to be your person.” I whisper. He smiles forlornly, reaching over to comb his fingers through my hair. “Someday, I hope you’ll let me be yours.”
-so what if you’re vanilla? Vanillas my favourite. I’ll always choose you.
-beck and I shared sixteen amazing years. He taught me to live with compassion. With zeal. He showed me how to find humour in the direst of situations. Thanks to him, I learned to bloom where I’m planted.
This was ok. A lot of the reviews talk about how emotional and what a tearjerker it was but I didn’t really feel any of that. I didn’t even find it a little sad and I’m a crybaby. I don’t think I was invested enough in Lia and Beck’s relationship to care much about his death (not a spoiler, it’s in the blurb). We know going in Beck is going to die and it’s talked about constantly before it actually happens on-page (in a flashback) so I never really cared about their relationship since I knew it wasn’t endgame. I started skimming the Beck chapters at some point and really only cared about what was happening in the present with Lia and Isaiah.
I really wish the ending was more of an HEA and less of an HFN and we got to see more of Lia and Isaiah’s future together but alas we did not.
