WITH THIS RING is a very nice straight forward contemporary romance. The story flows smoothly and the characters are very realistic. Finn has had feelings for Dustin since they were young but was never able to show him how she felt about him. After being bullied as a young person Finn has left her home town and made a career as a farrier which I loved! Burke creating a strong female character who has a unique career that is not traditionally one that women participate in was a nice bonus to Finn's character. The whole setting of the book was a bonus for me. Ranching in Texas that seemed believable is a nice change from high powered business tycoons and whip wielding Doms. Not that there's anything wrong with those stories because I enjoy those too, however this was a nice break from what is flooding the IR market right now.
Dustin is a rancher who walks away from his fiance on his wedding day for a VERY good reason. At a low moment on his wedding day Finn stumbles across him and their cautious dance begins. There is physical attraction immediately but neither Finn nor Dustin are in a place where they are willing to take a chance on another person. Caution is the theme of their romance. However, an over abundance of caution on both their parts can end up keeping them both from getting what they want.
WITH THIS RING is a quick and satisfying read and I am so glad that I finally got around to reading it. I will definitely be diving into more Aliyah Burke books in the near future.
when a book is so good that you'd risk having blurred vision for ..that definitely tells you something.lol..that and the fact I read from a kindle ...much too long. But I couldn't put it down.It is story of young girl who maintained a childhood crush that grew into something more. I love Aliyah Burke's books. And you'll enjoy reading this one too.
I truly enjoyed the story of Finn and Dustin. The story was well written with relatable characters. There was a very good amount of drama that kept me engaged to the end. The characters were passionate and true to each other throughout. Aliyah touched on several topics such as bullying and racism. This added solid depth to the story. This is a series I look forward to reading in the future. Great job, Aliyah Burke!!! Great story well deserving of 5 stars!!! Great writer with many great reads to come.
- Nice romance - Liked that the heroine was a farrier (I had to look that up, always cool when I learn something new while reading a romance) - Hero's ex fiancee was a cartoon - Not sure what the romantic conflict was other than the H/h not really talking to each other and it ended when they decided to say 'I Love You.'
There are a few things that are a given for me when getting an Aliyah Burke book; one, it's gonna be sexy and two, it's going in my to be read again pile. This book had both criteria for me....oozing sexiness and I will definitely be reading it again!
Story was good, characters very likable, only thing to put me off this book was that Dustin took too long to go after Samantha.
I also did not like how she insisted that everyone call her Finn when she was introduced as Samantha. Something about it made me not very fond of her after that.
I LOVED that Samantha refused to let that slutty, racist, mean girl Charlotte, block her from achieving her goals. I HATED that Dustin totally slowed the story down by not telling Samantha what she so desperately needed to hear from him. Great story!
Aliyah has done it again. This story will keep you hooked until the end . I enjoyed all the characters and have to say the story itself is relatable just like the characters. Ready for the next one in the series. Great read!!!
This book has all the elements of a good romance in my opinion a heroine who has loved the hero almost all her life and a hero who is oblivious until he notices her and can't stop noticing. It's every girls dream to have her crush feel the same way she does. This heroine gets her wish and oh is reality so much better than her dreams.
This was such a sweet romantic tale of two people thrown back into each other's life after Dustin called off his wedding to Charlotte Beaumonde, who had been a bully to Finn. Dustin Kane did not think he would ever find love again after he caught his bride in flagrante delicto with four of his groomsmen. When Samantha Mallory Finley came back to town to help her father after an injury and took on his work as a farrier, he became enamored with Finn. Finn had always had a crush on him from school but he never really paid attention to the little tomboy back then. She was his little pixie and he just loved everything about her, the way she smelled, the sound of her voice, how her jeans hugged her body. She in turn loved the timbre of his voice, his hypnotizing cobalt blue eyes and his own personal smell that was all Dustin. She did not were lace and frilly things but an was all woman
Finn knew that she was only to be only Branchwater, Texas until her father was well and she'd be on her way back to Maryland and did not want to start anything with Dustin, but, they just could not resist each other. Everything was going well until Charlotte came along to throw a brick in their relationship. Dustin had to fight like he'll to get his Samantha back in his life again. He was even willing to let her go so she would be happy. but she realized, she only wanted her HEA to be with Dustin.
I just love Aliyah's way with words. She made these characters so real. Their flirtatious back and forth with each other was so sweet. And Finn's father Evan Finley was portrayed as a strong father who loved his only child and did not hesitate to let Dustin know he would not tolerate his hurting her. I also saw an untold back story about his housekeeper Mrs. Pendle. There's more there between her and Evan. I just loved this story.
I forgot to leave a review the first time I read it so leaving one now. When you find that special someone you want to lock them in right away. I can understand Dustin hesitant on telling Samatha that he loves her. He thought he live Charolette but that there was a real lucky break. If he would have found out after they had married then he would have had to go through a messy, crazy divorce. But it was a great story.
Dustin ends his soon to be marriage on the wedding day. Samantha (Finn) is a guest at the event. After everyone had left she return to look for her bracelet there she encounters Dustin. He finally remembered they went to school together and she is someone he can talk to. Later Dustin hires her to work with his horses. Their relationship grows. Nice story.
4.5 Stars. I’m surprised by how much I like this story. It’s a feel good romance that developed at a believable pace.
I normally go for the dark romances, or the storyline with lots of twists and shocks. I always look for a major conflict or problematic circumstances. This book had none of that but still managed to make my heart smile. Great writing.
I really enjoy Aliyah Burke’s stories I love the independent, strong, feisty at times but love’s hard heroine. And I wanted to really get behind Finn in this story but at time’s I felt like she was to standoffish towards Dustin almost like he had to jump through hoops just to prove himself. Their coming together was bumpy from the start with betrayal from Dustins fiancé/ Finn’s nemesis to misunderstandings, lack of communication and listening. I’m glad they got their HEA I didn’t think that they would. Overall a good read.
I really enjoyed this slow burn book. Finn has loved Dustin since she was in the fourth grade. When he cancels his wedding to his Uber cheating fiance Finn offers words of comfort. The story and characters were amazing....however, I thought the couple wasted several opportunities to express their feelings.
I loved both characters. Finally decided that they belonged with each other. Lots of drama from the old girl friend but kicked her nasty behind to the curb, way over due.
The read was enjoyable. Not sure I really liked Dustin. He was too possessive and didn't really listen. He was too quick to react to Finn as he did to his ex fiance. Finn had her share of problems also. Glad they worked them out.
