You know why? Kasi, finally, no one can say an excuse before Him na wala siyang time na magbasa ng Bible.

Totoo naman ‘di ba? We can spend countless hours checking out notifications and comments sa wall natin at sa ating mga friends sa Fb, pero we can hardly find time to finish even a chapter of the Bible per day.

Ano nga bang meron sa Bible at bakit parang ang hirap nitong basahin much less tapusin?

Kaya’t kapag naririnig mo ang challenge to read the Bible “from cover to cover” nasasabi mo na lang sa sarili mo, ‘seriously’?! Sa totoo lang, is that even humanly possible? Ewan ko ba, pero sa tingin ng marami, you will need superhuman strength to do it.

Being a voracious reader myself, I grew up reading portions, here and there, of the Bible. Tumindig naman ang balahibo ko while reading the Book of Revelation sa New Testament. I can also remember being fascinated with the parables of Jesus. He talked about birds, flowers, and lost coin, and other details of life. But I have a confession to make, for the most part of my time as a youth leader sa church namin, nakuntento na ako sa weekly Bible reading bago ang sermon sa church. Never did I finished reading the entire Bible until I enrolled in a theology program. Dream come true.

And the moment I was finally able to read it all, naiisip ko na I deserve some sort of bragging rights. I must now be a saint or something. Na narating ko na ang ‘nirvana’ for being able to read in full God’s Book. But little did I know that it will be the beginning of a nightmare I was would never be able to wake up from. Bakit kamo?

Kasi naman I found in the Bible something really remarkable. Something unique from any other book in this world. But how would I convince others to read it as well? Alam ko ang mala-Hercules na power na kailangan para makatawid ka from the book of Leviticus to the book of Joshua. I know how it can be so boring to read about numerous sin offerings, about family trees with really weird names, and about prophecies, poetries, and other prose that do not make sense.

So, ever since, ipinangako ko sa sarili ko na someday I will try to write a book and find a way for other people to also set themselves on a journey to read the Bible. Kahit na gaano pa ito ka-boring. Kahit na gaano pa ito ka-intimidating.

Call me crazy. But here is a book that may actually change your mind about the Bible. Boring ba ang Bible mo? Think again. Or, better, read it again. I’ll join the party. You and me. Get. Set. Go.

This book is written in conversational Taglish and is available at OMF Lit Bookshops and OMF Lit E-shop (print) and through Amazon, Buqo, Flipreads and Kobo (ebook).

Most of have read hundreds/thousands of pages. But only a few have finished reading the Bible. Why? Because it's intimidating. And because you know that if you read it, it's more than just reading through the words. If you wanted a straightforward read, the Bible is straightforward. And if you wanted metaphors, the Bible has them as well.

RLC's Boring Ba Ang Bible Mo? is good way to catch the interest of those who are always aloof to read/finish the Bible. The book shares of the different interesting characters in the Bible. Characters who you think you've heard a lot already, but RLC references them to the actual books in the Bible so you'd know the real deal, not just hearsay.

I think this was a good way for RLC to entice readers to read the Bible more. It gives you a glimpse of the people living in the olden times, and then you realize that you're not really that much different from them. Your circumstances now are actually quite similar.

And so you learn how to deal. You learn what you ought to do. You learn what would happen eventually.

And the way that RLC talks about these characters is so swak that you don't even feel too intimidated. For example, Hopeless romantic ang lolo mo.

I'm not always a fan of Taglish reads, because they're too informal. But in this case, I think it is very effective.

This is a short read, about 100 pages, and you could finish it in one sitting. I would really recommend this to the ever-curious. And also to the not-so curious. : )

This is a good book if you’re considering reading the Bible and you can understand Taglish! I gained a lot of insight on the different stories in the Bible. Some I already know, some that I may want to read and some I may consider re-reading.

This is sometimes fun and hilarious to read. Some of the asides I find distracting but I guess those are not written for the kind of a reader like me :D But what I liked most in this book is the concluding chapter and the tips on reading the Bible at the end. Those definitely made me more likely to pick up and schedule a regular Bible reading time for a week.
