Sean Curley has accepted that his newfound powers cannot be denied. With that new confidence, he makes the decision to pursue the woman he loves, Breena of the Tuatha De Danann, to her homeland in order to free her from apparent captivity. His companions, however, have decisions to make. With Sullivan Nichols injured from their last violent encounter, he and others will seek healing on an island they've been told about.
The Grumbles, the core group of friends from New York, must part ways. As some pursue healing and others pursue their foes. Both paths lead them to the state of Maine before Sean will seek to find his was through the Otherworld to the realm of The Peripherals, the beings who exist on the edges of human perception.
Nothing is as it seems, which is business as usual for Sean and his friends lately. New friends and new enemies emerge as their journey continues and more than once, all seems lost.It will require selflessness and sacrifice to accomplish what must be done, and the world of the Peripherals proves to hide many surprises for the companions.
Healing in one direction, and violence in the other. The friends, both human and Peripheral, will be tested as never before.
Another fabulous thrill ride with the Grumbles and their otherworldly friends, The Peripherals! The action has moved to coastal Maine including a favorite place of mine, Monhegan Island. The monsters are familiar and as treacherous as ever; new Fae friends are delightful, and the gang is (mostly) back together. This group of Broadway theater actors again find action around a favorite summer theater in the quiet off-season. This series is a true joy written with such love and talent by an actor who talents on stage equal his creative writing talents. Thanks, Mark Aldrich.
Mr. Aldrich has done it again! Beyond Darkness is the fourth book in this series and each one is a gem. In this one, he has skillfully captured the true essence of Maine, my favorite state. His expert descriptions make you feel like you are there and part of the adventure. The Grumbles continue to find their powers and the Peripherals, old and new, continue to amaze. This book delves into the heart and soul of the characters and their relationships with each other. It has soul and compassion and love and nail-biting adventure all rolled into one. Mr. Aldrich has certainly done his research into the Fae world to find the most appropriate mythical characters, both good and evil, to propel the action to staggering heights. It keeps you on the edge of your seat. I heartily recommend this book and eagerly await the next in the series.
