With their ten-month-old daughter in tow, Amy and Mark are ready for their first, much-anticipated backcountry hiking adventure. But their carefully planned journey turns into a nightmare when they encounter a dangerous bear. As the huge predator stalks their small family, tensions mount and tempers flare. Soon Amy is forced to come to terms with the that she has lost sight of who she is, and that her partner is not the man she believed he was.

BackCountry is a quick-paced, suspenseful read that’s perfect for readers who love adventure in the wild outdoors—but it also examines how easy it is to fall into abusive relationships, and how hard it can be to return to ourselves in the aftermath. With high-adrenaline chases, thoughtful flashbacks, and meaty interpersonal revelations, this novel is sure to appeal to readers who want to set off into the backcountry of the human psyche.

As soon as this book was available I ordered it and as soon as I got it I couldn’t put it down. Ms. Swan describes the scenes and events with such skill that I could hear, smell, and feel what was going on as if I was there ! Backcountry has it all - suspense, thrill, love, emotional rollercoasters and humor along with an incredible storyline.
I can’t wait to read what SL Swan writes next !!!

I devoured this book. Back Country is an incredibly fast paced and yet deliciously subtle story that follows Amy and Mark with a baby in tow as they embark on their dream adventure that turns into a nightmare as they stalked by a bear. Or maybe the skies soured for them long before as on the journey Amy examines what she had Choose in her life before The Bear.
