The knife still fits her hand like a promise, and the blood still hits like a drug she doesn’t want to quit.
But now she has an immortal shadow—gorgeous, brooding, and utterly obsessed. As far as he’s concerned, that edge belongs in his chest—buried to the hilt, wringing heat from every raw, trembling nerve.
So when she drives it into someone else, the fragile thing they’ve been pretending is normal shatters on impact. And before they can even try to put it back together, the copycat starts staging kills in Vera’s style, ending with a bloody offering left on her doorstep.
Now, the Goddess’s past is clawing its way into the present, something ancient is watching from the dark, and if they can’t get their shit together fast…well. Love won’t be the only thing that ends in blood.
If you want my full, long-winded thoughts, go lurk on my review for episode one—because guess what? Nothing’s changed, darling. I’m still feral for this series.
Episode two picks up right where we left off—sorry… no time to breathe, no time to recover. We dive straight into more of that wickedly mysterious magic system (love, obsessed, give me more 😮💨), and the push-and-pull between Vera and Nikolai? Chef’s kiss 🤌 Their tension is practically dripping off the page, all sharp edges and dark promises. And the reveal…followed by that cliffhanger? Yeah, I’m already side-eyeing my schedule because episode three is calling, and I will answer.
Oh, and Vera? Our girl is serving gruesome, take-no-prisoners realness in this one, and I was living for every bloody second.
That’s all you’re getting from me. No spoilers, no crumbs. It’s short, it’s dark, it’s twisted, and it will eat you alive— in the most delicious way. Go read it. No need thank me later 😌
I am loving these episodes for this story. It is refreshing to have short little novellas that really pack a punch. More answers were revealed in this one, yet more mysteries were also created. Can’t wait for episode three!
Episode 2 picks up right where we left off and doesn’t slow down for a second. The stakes are even higher this time, and the push-and-pull between Vera and Nikolai is absolutely addictive. Their dynamic is so good, it leaves me craving more with every chapter. The story keeps getting more intense, and now I’m desperate for the next installment. That cliffhanger was delicious—even though I don’t usually like them, this one worked perfectly and makes me need to know what happens next. Plus, Vera continues to dish out justice in her own fierce way, which I loved seeing.
Thank you, Kristen, for the advance copy to leave an honest review.
Oh the story is picking up and getting good! This one was less spicy and more thriller-y? That’s not a word but it’s fine. Episode 1 was definitely more introductory but in this Episode we’re getting a lot more movement in the story. Things are starting to come to light and unravel. We’re still left with questions at the end making us want more so I can’t want to see what Episodes 3 and 4 give us!
Thanks Kristen for this ARC and I can't wait to see what happens next!
I am really enjoying these. It really is like watching a mini series. It has a badass fmc, obsessive mmc, murder, funny banter and spice. This one picks right up where the first one left off and you get to find out who has been murdering women who are very similar to the fmc. The question is tho who or what is it that is possessing him and who is he going to possess next just to try to get what wasn’t his from the start.
I already fell in love with Vera in episode one and now finding out there’s another serial unaliver leaving little “gifts” for Vera in the form of body parts at her door and her man Nik isn’t playing around . He’s laying it on thick and they both think maybe it’s love ? So much crazy spicy murdery goodness . I will be continuing this saga because excuse me I need to know how the goddess know so much about Nik . ….. so perfect for a quick and delicious read .
I freaking knew it was going to happen. You get some answers then leave with more questions. Very intrigued to find out more. Loving Vera and Nikolai’s relationship.
Oh my gods—this episode ripped me apart and stitched me back together just to do it all over again 😭🖤 I’m still reeling. I didn’t think it could get more intense after Episode One—but Kristen Coar said “bet” and absolutely delivered.
In this episode, Vera and Nikolas’s fragile, fiery bond was pushed to its breaking point 🔥💔. The blade she carries still fits her hand like a promise, but now there’s someone watching her—immortal, obsessed, beautiful, and utterly feral when it comes to her. And when Vera drives that blade into someone else, Nik feels that betrayal like a knife to the soul. But there’s no time to recover from heartbreak when a copycat starts murdering in her signature style… and leaves a bloodied message on her doorstep 😨🩸.
Every interaction between Vera and Nik crackled with tension and need. They need each other in the most dangerous way. She’s fire and fury and secrets. He’s cold rage barely contained, chained only by his want for her. They both carry darkness—but in this episode, that darkness begins to bite back 😈🩶.
The goddess inside Vera? She’s keeping secrets. BIG ones. Ones that could change everything. And just when Vera thinks she’s pieced together who the enemy is… the trap closes in. And she never got to say how she really feels 🥺
📚 Tropes You’ll Love: 💀 Dark Romance 🖤 Morally Grey x Morally Grey 🥀 Obsession (like, the immortal kind) 🧿 Possessive Love Interest ⚔️ Enemies Close, Lovers Closer 👁 Secret Identity / Hidden Past 🩸 Copycat Killer Chaos 🌌 Mythology & Ancient Secrets 🩶 Hurt/Comfort (in the most devastatingly hot way) 💬 Silent Treatment (and the yearning underneath it)
This novella may be short, but it packs a hell of a punch. Vera isn’t someone to be manipulated—not by a monster, not by a man, not even by the goddess within her. But what do you do when the person who might destroy you… is the one you want to be destroyed by?
This is perfect for fans of dark fantasy with teeth, romances where the chemistry is lethal, and plots where you trust no one—not even the divine 🖤🌑.
I am OBSESSED. Vera and Nikolas own me. The ending? It left me screaming silently into the void. I need Episode Three right now.
Thank you so much to Kristen Coar for the ARC 🖤 It’s always an honor to dive into the twisted, beautiful, bloody worlds you create.
Ink, Blood, and Other Afflictions: Episode Two delivers another wickedly addictive dose of dark romance, supernatural danger, and delicious chaos. Kristen Coar proves again that she can pack one hell of a punch in under 100 pages—and I devoured every word.
This episode peels back more layers of Vera’s world and psyche, introducing fresh twists, eerie threats, and a stalker situation that somehow got even hotter. Vera remains a slightly unhinged queen in the best way, and Nikolai? Still dangerously obsessed, still feral and broody, and somehow both the sharp knife and the soft place to land. Their dynamic hits even harder here—messier, more volatile, and crackling with tension.
Just when things seem like they might settle (well, as much as a relationship with a cinnamon roll demon can), Kristen throws Vera and Nikolai into the deep end. The pacing is quick but effective, and the reveals hit hard. I especially loved the new mystery thread with the copycat—it adds just the right amount of dread to the already volatile mix.
This series is such a fun, sharp little palate-cleanser between heavier reads. It’s chaotic, sexy, and addictive as hell. Episode Two left me cackling, gasping, and once again counting down the minutes until I can get my hands on Episode Three.
I am so incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have received an advanced copy of Ink, Blood, and Other Affections Episode Two from the author! 🫶
I thought Ink, Blood, and Other Affections Episode One was unhinged but this one was unhinged times infinity and I am so obsessed! 🖤☠️ This is getting better and better and the plot twists that happen in this novella had me screaming! 😱🤯🙊
This novella brought me on such a rollercoaster ride and built up on everything that was introduced in episode one. There are four episodes total in this novella series and I am so excited to see what is to come in the remaining two parts because the cliffhanger at the end has me immediately wanting to dive into episode three right now! 😍 There were so many moments during this one that made me laugh because I couldn’t believe what was happening was actually happening! 😂😂😂 I love the alternating POVs as well between the FMC and the MMC and I love how it allows the reader to understand their motives and their inner thoughts! 🫶
If you love a 30+ year old FMC who loves books, morally grey characters, dark romance, he falls first, spice, and a novella series that will bring you on a crazy ride then be sure to start with episode one! 🫶
I need episode 3 and 4 because if I dont find out what happens next, I'll go mad.
A morally gray FMC who finds ecstasy in bloodshed, check! An immortal warrior who craves pain like a drug, check! A deadly game of obsession, desire, and secrets, check! Spice, tension, and a love that walks the line between passion and ruin, check!
What more could I possibly ask for? There's darkness, murder, stalkers, serial killers, potentially demonic gods, and Goddesses... its delicious and all wrapped up in a bite size piece.
continuing on from where we left Vera and Nikolai, there relationship is developing but there is tension and secrets that need to be shared. The pace is at a nice mid range so it is easy to follow and not get lost.
Book 2 starts delving deeper into the Goddess inside Vera and whatever immortal entity has kept Nik alive for over 800 years. I want more, I need to know more about the supernatural side of these characters and how they came to be.
The spice isn't overpowering in the 84 pages but is the right level of smutty to keep that part of the brain tingly.
Definitely recommend this series to anyone who likes their dark romance to have a supernatural element with a strong and sassy female lead.
First off I am loving the way this is being set up like a series? Building the story up in each episode and then leaving you with the breadcrumbs just anticipating want comes next? This author knows what she is doing.
This is nothing like anything I have read before but I am here for it! And the way Vera taunted nik when he was stalking her by giving him the middle finger? Was priceless.
Again yes, this may be just a small quick read but oh wow does it pack a freaking punch!! The story line flows seamlessly, the spice is incredible and the characters? Unhinged!!
All the characters, whether it’s our MCs, the goddess or any other characters we are meeting on the way just all tie in so well that I want more already!
Kristen honestly leaves you wanting more and more after each episode so being on episode 3!!!
This episode improves on the first in a lot of ways. The pacing is better, the story starts unfolding, with more tension, more answers (and still more questions), and it genuinely kept me engaged the whole time. The tone is darker and more thriller-focused, which I actually preferred over the spice-heavy vibe in Episode 1. There’s still intimacy, but it’s not the main focus, and that shift works in favor of the plot. (excitinggggg) Vera is still as chaotic and as badass, if not more (love her), and the back-and-forth with the goddess in her head? love it! makes me wanna know everything about the goddess, but i think that's for the next episode (excitinggggg 2.0). And Nikolai… he’s intense. Like, quiet-obsessive, might-follow-you-into-a-warehouse intense (swoon). Their tension is still there, and it hits every time!
Thank u Kristen for sending me the e-arc for this! i cannot wait for what's coming!!!
Wow, Kristen has absolutely nailed it again! There’s so much tension, drama, and delicious angst packed into this episode that it’s impossible to put down.
Here's what you can expect: 🔪 Stabby FMC 🔪 MMC Who Likes Pain 🔪 Morally Black 🔪 Touch her/him and ☠ 🔪 Possessed by a Goddess 🔪 30+ and Curvy Rep
While episode two dials down the spice just a notch, it cranks up the thrills and suspense. I was hanging on to every page as the mystery deepens and Vera and Nikolai’s stories intertwine even more, with secrets swirling around the mysterious Goddess inside Vera and a serial killer obsessed with her.
What really makes this episode shine is how it builds on the last, keeping the pace fast and the stakes high. New threats emerge at every turn, making the mystery even more irresistible. It’s dark, twisted, and absolutely gripping… and I’m officially obsessed!
ink, blood, and other afflictions: episode two by kristen coar ★★★★★
episode two takes everything i loved about the first installment and cranks it up a notch. it’s darker, sharper, and even more addictive, with tension that practically drips off the page. vera and nikolai continue to be that perfectly unhinged duo—chaotic, dangerous, and impossible to look away from.
what i loved most here is how tight the pacing feels. every scene counts, and there’s this constant pull that keeps you flipping pages like your life depends on it. the vibes are equal parts seductive and sinister, which makes it the exact kind of dark romance i can’t get enough of.
honestly, my only “complaint” is that i need more. this series is pure obsession fuel, and episode two proves it’s not slowing down anytime soon.
Episode Two turns everything up a notch—darker, bloodier, and even more addictive than the first installment. Vera continues to be a chaotic, morally gray force of nature, and Nikolai’s obsessive, feral devotion makes their chemistry impossible to ignore. The tension between them is sharp and constant, especially as new mysteries emerge and old ones deepen. This episode leans harder into suspense and supernatural intrigue, with a copycat killer, escalating danger, and hints of Vera’s goddess-linked past beginning to surface. It’s fast-paced, intense, and packed with cliffhanger energy that makes it nearly impossible not to jump straight into the next part. Overall: A short but gripping continuation that heightens the stakes and deepens the obsession, ending on a cliffhanger that leaves you desperate for Episode Three
Without giving any spoilers away (I will NEVER!!). Here’s what I can tell ya about this one… This story just keeps getting better!! I feel like I’m watching a Netflix mini series unravel right before my eyes.
This book picks up where episode one left off & the plot packs more of a punch in this one (pun intended)😉 There’s a little spice too, so don’t get ya panties in a wad! (Or do...If that’s what you’re into 😝)
Vera & Nik find themselves in a very unsettling predicament & I’m anxious to see how it’s going to play out. Kristen has really peaked my interest with this one & I’m invested in this story now. She leaves you wanting more at the end of each episode & I can’t wait to see what happens next. Thank you Kristen for the free arc, I’m actually enjoy this series. ☺️
Tropes: * Serial unaliver- maybe 2? Or 3? Idk. * Strangers to lovers * Goddesses * Stalker * Touch him and d*e
Favorite quotes: “I wasn’t stalking not really. Not when she was mine.” Best first two lines of a book!!?! 😍🤤
“No, my Vera didn’t flinch. She smiled.”
“Then I looked up at the woman in my lap—the monster I’d kneel to, the one I’d tear the world apart to protect.”
My thoughts: The suspense and bit of mystery in this mixed with the immaculate smut = 🤌🏽 i loved this episode so much!! The plot was amazing and captivating. The first episode was mostly introducing the characters and this episode was causing all sorts of questions and new aspects to this world that Vera and Nikalai. I cannot wait to read the next episode!!!
If I thought episode one was unhinged… episode two said “hold my dagger.” This one is bloodier, twistier, and somehow even more chaotic and I loved every second of it. It’s a wild, stabby ride that grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go.
I adore that the story is divided into four short episodes you can binge them all in one sitting or savor them slowly like dark chocolates 👀 but let me warn you, this is definitely not a cozy read 😂 Expect blades, consequences, and jaw-drop twists that will have you whisper-screaming “just one more page” until it’s suddenly over.
I don’t want to leave this world, and honestly… why would I when it’s this deliciously feral?
wow, just wow. These episodes and their endings just leave you hanging, wanting for more. I loved this second episode even more!!!! Have to say, I had a suspicion about that character (not gonna spoil it, heh), especially after how he behaved when Vera said no (ugh, men). But the sassiness of Vera and her companion is delicious and the hate for obnoxious men is top tier. And again Nikolai - that sweet sweet soul, would do anything for Vera. LOVED this episode, and am soooo excited to see what's gonna happen next, cause right now I'm being kept on my toes with everything that's happening, new storylines revealing and past lives, mistakes coming forth now.
These book episodes have me absolutely hooked and impatiently waiting for the next one to come out! The way the author leaves the endings in each episode has you dying for more.
Vera is a goddess even without the one riding along inside her, between her sass and the way she carries herself. She's a perfect FMC.
Nikolai, he's everything a man should be. Mysterious, but the way he loves and wants to protect Vera with giving her some room to be herself is everything she needs.
The killer in Vera comes back as well as the killer on the streets, and this time, he's not just after her, but the Goddess inside.
I can't wait to see where the next episode takes us!
These episodes are KILLING ME. The character development, the relationship development is all chefs kiss! I just wish they were longer! Although I am unbelievably grateful I got my hands on these episodes before their publishing day. I need more!
Vera is such a bad*ss woman. Loving, caring, and curvy. She’s smart and cunning and has a great sense of humor.
Nik is everything you could ever want in a man.. little bit of a stalker (hot), caring, thoughtful, and determined to get what he wants. And most importantly protective. Love love love.
And the villain is making me so uneasy! I need the next episode asap.
“I still wanted to d*e with her thighs locked around my ribs, her mouth on my throat, and my c*ck buried inside her while everything else came undone.”
Ahhh I love Vera and Nikolai so so much and was excited to dive back in! I love their dynamic so much! This part really took an interesting turn, and I love the unhinged version of Vera towards the end. I will say I was a bit confused about the conflict because it didn't quite make sense to me. Overall, this was really good, and I can't wait for part three!
I received this book as an ARC from the author. I am providing my honest opinion and leaving a review voluntarily.
It was my pleasure of receiving this as an e-ARC to read!! Kristen Coar did it again with Episode Two!! This book ripped me apart just like the first one and left me wanting more!! This book will leaving you wanting more and wanting to know what happens next!! Chefs kiss Kristen!!
Both episodes have me absolutely hooked and impatiently! The endings in each episode have you dying for more. Vera is a goddess between her sass and the way she carries herself. She's a perfect FMC. Nikolai, he's everything a man should be. I love how he’s mysterious, but loves and wants to protect Vera with giving her some room to be herself .The killer in Vera comes back as well as the killer on the streets, and this time, he's not just after her, but the Goddess inside. I can't wait to see where the next episode takes us!
In Episode 1, we were introduced to the characters and learned a bit about Vera and the goddess inhabiting her. We also learn a bit about Nikolas, I would love to learn more about his past, but this story adds another character to the mix. Someone that we have already met. There is so much suspense and danger in this episode. I wonder where Kristen Coar will take these two, okay, three, next and can’t wait to find out.
I received an advanced reader’s copy and am voluntarily leaving this review.
Thank you to the author for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a fantastic part two. We move into the mystery aspect of the story, introducing more questions about Vera's connection with the goddess. There are some big thrills and higher stakes in this episode that had me devouring it in one evening. One reveal had me shocked, and I am dying to know more. I am really excited to see where the story goes--loving it so much!
