I read this book because I know the author. And while it isn’t my usual genre, it was a very important read for me. The book is in two distinct parts, his life and the growth of his faith and departure from the controlling aspects of the cult. It’s a very good insight into what it’s like to be abused, life after it, how real people interact with their abusers long term, and how faith is shaped in modern society.
If you read it, know that this is a bio by a person who isn’t a professional writer. Its pacing and style is differnt than most books that it’s categorized next to. The point is the story and for people to read it. Not that he can or should be compared to a professional author or a major production like “Educated.” Etc.
