Ian's undertaken a herculean task of distilling the width, breadth, depth, and encompassing roots of how co-operatives reflect what it means to be a human, and living in this world alongside other people, businesses, and institutions.
Whilst one book would never be able to contain all the answers and stories, it's the primer that I wish I'd had access to, when I first starting working in/with co-ops 30 years ago - and his distilling of hundreds of existing works and materials (the bibliography runs to over 80 pages alone!), is a testament to how important this book should be for anyone wanting to better navigate the wider sector.
It was also really encouraging to see a whole chapter devoted to the topics that many co-ops and the wider sector seem to usually shy away from (god and politics) - publicly recognising the relationships that have seen these movements influence each other was refreshingly welcome and is long overdue.
