Maude thought her life couldn’t get any better: her first music album is a hit, she’s about to meet her extended family and she’s looking forward to her first date with teen pop star, Matt. But when scandal strikes Maude must part ways with Matt, and watch Soulville Records fall into the hands of an ambitious Alan Lewis, who will stop at nothing to turn Maude into an unparalleled star.
Between glamorous parties, an unauthorized tell-all book, a web of lies, new revelations about her French past and her rivalry with Lindsey Linton attaining a whole new level, Maude must fight for her voice to be heard and decide if being a star is more important than her love for music.
Born in France, raised partly in the United States and in France, Anna grew up loving stories in French and English.
Anna is the author of “A French Girl in New York” that garnered millions of reads on Wattpad. She currently lives in the beautiful city of Paris. And when not in France, Anna enjoys writing in libraries all over the world.
You know that moment when the sequel of a book you really hearted turns out to be a flop? Yeah well this is NOT one of those moments!
Oh God, where do I start? I thought I couldn't love Anna Adams any more than I did after reading A French Girl in New York, but whoo man was I wrong! I mean, it was so good my butt was just glued to my hair for 3 hours straight reading this. But I dont really want to give anything away because I want all of you lucky readers to have the pleasure of unwrapping this jewel. Anywhores, I'm still going to address my favorite parts of this book.
1. Character development! [insert angelic choir here] God, I felt like I knew Maude personally, as if she was my own friend the way this panned out (which is really strange considering this was in 3rd person POV). Just, the way she reacted to the different twists and turns really surprised me because I thought I had her all figured out; I mean Maude IS a fictional character after all! But Adams gave her depth, she transformed Maude from 2D to 3D. Oh and Maude of course was not the only one with character development, its just that she's my favorite (duh because she's amazeballs!) Adams further explored Mrs. Wicked Stepmother (I really can't remember her last name because thats what I called her in my head), Victoria, Cynthia and even Lindsey! But man, the most memorable scene had to be Jazmine during a certain prick's wedding
2. Twists and turns! [upbeat dun dun dun] Man, my stomach was all in knots at some parts of the book. I thought it was gonna go right, but instead it goes backwards! There were also some surprises that truly added depth to the story, and explored some psychological aspects that I'm not going to talk about because I'm no expert haha.
3. REVENGE [mwahahaha] No further comment. I'm telling you, you have to read it to figure out which jerkface got Karma's slap in the face
4. Cliffhanger! [yeah I got no sound for this one] Yes yes, I know what you're thinking. "ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND? DID YOU DRINK YOUR PILLS THIS MORNING?! HOW COULD YOU POSSIBLY LIKE A CLIFFHANGER?!?" Calm, young grasshopper. I too, was once like you, until I hit my 2000th book mark. I've come to realize that cliffhangers are not only beneficial for the author as it forces you to go out to Barnes and Nobles to get the sequel, but it also benefits you, the reader. The excitement, and anticipation, well its quite healthy for you. And, for me personally, I enjoy the next book more because of the drama the previous book left off at. When everything is fine and dandy at an ending, I start assuming that the series is done! (and so sequels really confuse me). Good drama at the end helps me to remember and jump more easily into reading the next book
Thank you to Anna Adams for providing me with an ARC of this series that I am just obsessed with. You da best doll face! And y'all should follow her on Wattpad! She has a couple of sneak peeks for the series to whet your appetite!
Matt doesn't move. He stays for Maude, There is awards ceremony, Lindsay, Thomas, Maude, and others are nominated. Maude is nominated for two awards but only wins one. Lindsay wins one, and the other ones goes to Maude. The 2 girls made a bet and Lindsay won, so the dare was Kiss Thomas, Maude did so, and Matt moved on after that. Later he dated Rebecca (Maude's friend, and she is also famous). Maude went on date with Thomas. Oh I forgot to mention Mrs. ruchet died. A play happens (that's where Rebecca and Maude became friends, and still are) Maude and Matt made up, but are friends now, and Maude doesn't continue dating Thomas and is now single, and after the play she was accepted to two schools and chose to got to the French one, Alan had taken over in begging (sorry forgot to mention) but now James is back. Harriet marries Peter. And that how it ends, and so on... The End. Hope you enjoyed my spoiler.

Praise for "A French Star in New York"! (Isn't that how these usually start?) What can I say that the book doesn't say for itself? It was witty, cleverly romantic (but not too mushy), and sure as heck entertaining. Without revealing too much, in this sequel, Maude battles a lying reporter who seems to cause a few scandals that Maude does not like, the crazy family on her biological father's side, she finds her inner jealous Egyptian princess, eases some of the tension that comes from her rivalry with Lindsey Linton (another famous pop singer), and must save the good intentions of Soulville from Alan Lewis, a conniving Glitter-wannabe. Meanwhile, Jaz becomes a scandal herself (which may or may not involve a hunky teenage vampire actor [not the one you're probably thinking of though]) and Cynthia pursues a career as a lawyer. "A French Star in New York" will have you reading at wee hours of the night until it's finished (not to mention, the countless hours of missing sleep that is totally worth it). I have to say, I'm not a big reader of the Young-Adult genre anymore, but from the moment I read Maude's story, I was hooked like a fish on a line. Five stars, three cheers, and two thumbs up, Anna Adam's story should be wildly popular in only a matter of time. Hip, hip, hooray! —Victoria A. Hinojosa
Still loving this series. I didn't like Maude as much in this book because she was so high and mighty. Everything was very her way or the highway with her. I was not a fan of her attitude.
That being said, I still found this really enjoyable and cute! I really enjoy this series. I'm excited to continue on with the series.
Book 2 continues the story of Maude, an orphaned French girl who can sing and is discovered by her Uncle. She has now become famous and this book further explores her relationship with her new family, with Matt, with Thomas and with Lindsey. There are several other people in her life that pop in and out. This book has a lot of characters and Anna does a great job blending them all in, covering their different stories individually and with Maude while not taking away from Maude.
The kindle edition I had, there were words missing which slowed me down in my reading but still I really enjoyed the continuation of Maude's story that included a few revelations. I look forward to finding out what happens next for Maude and her people.
Maude Laurent is a pop star in New York. Maude Laurent thinks her life couldn't get any better. But then her life goes all down hill. Maude and Matt want to go out on a date but Maude has to pretend she has a relationship with Thomas Bradfield. Maude finds her dad's side of her family and gets to know them. In the end Muade is offered to go to a musical school in France.
I would recommend this to all my friends especially if they like musical books.
pre-read: um, so why are there so many of these? i honestly thought there were only going to be like 2 or 3, but there's like 7 and now that i started the series, i have to finish it (not sure if i'm excited or not 🫤)
Well, another great book from anna adams and it was everything that I thought it would be, if not more!
I loved the characters but I have to say my favorite was Matt. It was funny and lovely seeing Matt and Maude together. They made the book lively with their constant bickering and loved hate relationship.
Then there was Maudes new family! I loved them, they were so funny! I loved the way her meeting with them wasn't all gooey and happy. It was realistic and made you want to know so much more about them
I know I keep using the word funny, but thats because I laughed the whole way through....thats in a good way!
The book was also very memorable, even as I right this review'; scenes from the book are flashing through my mind!
I definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a good book to read!
I cant wait to read the next book in the series, keep up the good work!
I loved this book, just like I loved the first. I loved every minute of it. I actually caught myself slowly reading just to savor it. The first one felt like I read it in one day. The only problem with the second, I was really hoping for it to have more chapters then the first. But honestly the story makes up for it. GAHH I can't wait for the third! Anyone have a Time Machine? WAIT! There is gonna be a third, right?! It felt like this book took forever to get! (Because I had to buy it on iBooks and It wasn't available right away.) And I know it'll feel the same to way for the third. I Absolutely love this series. Great Book. Great Writing. Great Author. Five Star Definitely.
Cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!A French Star in New York7]
This was a huge let down for me. I enjoyed the first book and this was just bad. I guess I'm getting to old to deal with all the petty drama. Plus Maude had no balls to stand up for herself until the very end. By then it was too late. Sadly, I will not be continuing this series. If it's this bad already I can only imagine how worse for her it will be. She is surrounded by awful people.
This book is a definate must read! Most AMAZING book!! The chemistry between maude & matt is incredible!! Best book ever! Cant wait for sequel #3 (which i hope will be out soooonnnn!!!!!)
I've had this one in my library for a while & am just now getting to it. The story is about an orphaned girl sent to live with relatives in a small town to the North of France as a 3 year old. She is a talented singer/songwriter/pianist, and loves to read, and hides from bullies, including her foster family, as long as possible in the library. At some point, she is discovered by an American musician/record company owner who turns out to be her uncle. She has a secret passion for opera as well as a budding talent for it, but when things go wrong at her uncle's record company, everything gets a lot worse in her life. Ordinary teen missteps (she's 17) become instant scandals in gossip rags and via paparazzi. An orphan whose extended family has found her, there is a lot going on in her life, from music to getting acquainted to relations with other artists. The book has too many characters and too many backstories and is too complex to track easily. Too much gossip, jealousy. backbiting, and puerile behavior altogether. I kept at it to try to sort the POV of a young group of celebrities suddenly forced to do and say things they don't really want to do or say. But "War and Peace," as well as several other Russian novels from the 19th & early 20th centuries, with all their patronymics and politics, were easier to track, and that's scary. The first book is already out of print, not sure about the sequel, but I have more enjoyable things to read.
Aguardemos.
Heart wrenching. No, DO NOT READ THIS BOOK first, because o was hooked on this book, I literally could NOT put it down. I don’t say this often. At all. Second, I CANNOT bear the problems with Matt and Maude. When Matt searched for Maude to give her the yellow flower, and found Maude kissing Thomas, I was CRUSHED. JEEZ GIRL, LINDSEY DID NOT FORCE YOU TO DO IT THAT INSTANT. You SHOULD have waited to tell Matt. GOSH. Why? I was depressed for DAYS. Thanks for the heart break, Maude! Oh, my poor heart. They belong together. But I am somewhat recovering. Sniff sniff.
PLUS SIDES!
Love the research! You had so much info to give us about so many of the instruments. The grammar. AMAZING(though I confess, I just skimmed that mostly). The Characters are really deep. The emotions are clearly understandable. Heck, it even taught me how to sing better! Meaning with emotion. I never would have guessed. Maude’s Character is tough. She doesn’t break easy, Like some other book characters I’ve read. And, she’s got a heck of a temper!(reminds me of....me!). I love this book! Ignore what I said at the beginning. Read this book RIGHT NOW!!!

The book was a L-O-N-G and B-O-R-I-N-G ride...well the starting and middle was anyways...it got better in the end.
So in the starting our MC is happy girl with everything that she wants, but we can't have that, can we? So this comes the MC's best *Fiend* forever and ruins her life....with the help of Alan Lewis. And now her life's ruined.
The book was a total disaster, there were no strong sentiments or anything that made me feel anything at all, and the things that were supposed to be long were cut short and the things that were supposed to be short were long...What is wrong with u!?
Don't even get me starting on the main writing... I have a very important question R u a part time nun? Ur writing sure shows it..
There was no, absolutely not one STRONG WORD, anything to make the book interesting..
I think I've been pretty generous with giving it 2 stars...only coz of the last book and the ending of this book...
This is one of the worst #2 books I've read...and I thought I had already reached mark when I read World Before..
This surely was a disaster after the awesome first book
Again a good book from The French Girl Series. Every book should give you the feeling that you are not part of the work while reading. I experienced the same. As I said already for the previous book "The French Girl in New York", I can feel the music for this book too. I like very much the last part especially. Even I can't imagine Maude can do Amneris, but the author has given a very good plot for that, and also she save Maude from realising it. The connectivity of the story I admired most in this.
Ready for the next one.

I enjoyed the first book more, but this one was worth reading. I was pleased that the book ended with Maude finally getting the truth out there.
There were some editing errors. Enough that I found them frustrating, but still easy enough to read through.
This series is definitely a lighter read, which is nice on occasion. I’ve enjoyed getting to know the characters and I might read more of the series just to see what happens with them.
Loved how she has grown from where she was to where is going and the life changes she went through, from pianist to an amazing singer, to become a leader actor, her life has progressed and its such an encouragement to never give up on what you want as long as your are prepared to work for what you want!!!
This was an okay story. It wasn't as entertaining as the first book. I think it was all of the drama. I thought most of it was unneeded. I still like Matt, but he wasn't involved in much of the story. Maude was likeable most of the time. The opera scenes were the most pleasing to read. It's too bad that wasn't the whole book.
5 stars for this book because it is an absolute page-turner and absolutely unputdownable . I love the unexpected drama that keeps erupting from page to page making each page a climax .Anyone in love with music , romance and drraammaaa is perfect for this amazing book.
I loved this book too. It was amazing. I could relate to Maude easily. The author wrote amazingly. It was an easy read and I loved the style of writing. If you want to read it, you shouldn't wait. go for it👍
I really enjoy these stories. Seeing people from a different world experiencing the same things that every teenager experiences: disappointments, heartache, and trouble.
