Star Enders The Last 18

Rate this book
Enter a world of young adult science fiction, where ancient prophecies intersect with a dystopian future.

From a Shabby hammock in his backyard in rural Oklahoma, to the darkside of the Moon seemed an unrealistic journey to Jett, yet that's exactly what happens to the young gamer who reluctantly chooses to follow his destiny. Jett's inner conflicts often collide head-on with his outward ones, especially regarding his blood quantum. Half Pawnee and half Welsh, he often struggles to understand himself and the significance of the Indigenous bloodline that he comes from. His confliction about his identity only intensifies as he is chosen to be one of the last eighteen people who will walk on planet Earth.

Chase, who is full blooded Navajo and raised on the Reservation, is also chosen. He is ever ready to remind Jett of his half-blood status and the lack of connection to the Star gods that the Pawnee people believe they come from.

The Phoenix Phenomenon is approaching and Earth's destruction is unavoidable. Nibiru has entered our solar system and there will be no stopping the planet ending collision that is heading our way. The last eighteen are brought together from around the world with the goal of awakening mankind before Earth's annihilation and stopping the Master, who has has been manipulating the masses for centuries in his quest to overtake the Universe.

Wow, what a ride!

If you love stories that mix magic, myths, space adventures, and a little bit of soul-searching, you’ll really enjoy "The End Of The World Is Coming." I found myself hooked from the very beginning—about a young guy named Jett from Oklahoma, who’s just a regular gamer, but suddenly gets caught up in a crazy prophecy about the end of the world.

What really pulled me in was how the story dives into themes of identity and heritage. Jett struggles with who he is—half Pawnee and half Welsh—and it made me think about how important it is to embrace your roots, even when everything around you feels chaotic. Plus, his friendship with Chase, a proud Navajo man, really adds depth and heart to the story.

There’s so much cool stuff—mythical creatures, ancient prophecies, space travel, and magic rooted in Indigenous traditions. It’s a fresh take on the end-of-the-world story, and I loved how it shows that sometimes, the answers are hidden in our past, waiting to be rediscovered.

If you’re into stories about culture, adventure, and a little bit of magic with a modern twist, this book is a great choice. I couldn’t put it down!

I enjoyed the story and I think the plot has potential, as does the author as a whole! The story takes from various real-world conspiracy theories, a little too on the nose at times, but culminating them into an intriguing narrative nonetheless!

It should be noted that the pace of this first book is a little slower and focuses more on the characters and the world building more than much else, but it has it's moments of action packed scenes and galactic politics!

The main thing that makes this book a four out of five instead of a five out of five for me is the fact that I felt the dialogue could have used a little help in some areas. I know most of the key characters are supposed to be younger, but not all modern young adults use the term "bro," in every other sentence and other elements of the dialogue made it feel a little overdramatized. And as a writer myself it's really hard to fully appreciate a story if the dialogue isn't more articulate, formal or at least unique to each character.

Other than that I enjoyed the story and I look forward to the next installment of this series!

A prophecy in the stars. A gamer on the Moon. And a countdown to doomsday.

If you’re looking for dystopian sci-fi with heart, look no further!

This incredible story was entertaining and engaging and had me hooked all the way through! A fascinating blend of sci-fi and indigenous culture, Star Enders: The Last 18 touches on real-world issues while staying true to the story - an ancient prophecy, a shadowy Master set on domination, and a last-chance mission to save the world.

The main character, Jett, was relatable and I was so invested in his struggles as he came to terms with his mission, but also his identity. I loved the dynamic between Jett and Chase as they explored their heritage and found their places in the team, accepting the weight of responsibility that comes with being humanity’s last hope.

I’m all in and can’t wait to find out what happens to Jett and the crew in the rest of the series!

Bren Hobbs is a true storyteller and I am eagerly anticipating her next book, and will be reading anything else she publishes.

I have bought the book Star Enders. It was hard to put it down. So that I would not get interrupted the day before yesterday, I took the book to Starbucks and binge read. This book captured my imagination! It is entertaining, exciting, and emotional! You feel as if you are one of the 18 going on the journey to save Earth and mankind. I highly recommend this book. This trilogy will end up as a TV series or, better yet, up on the big screen!

Really good Scifi epic that blends bits of different cultures specifically Native American Culture into the plotline of the story. This has a bit of YA feel, so for young adult readers and fans of the genre I think this would be a great read.
