High Octane
Feeling delicate after the breakdown of a long-term relationship, Frankie Williams - a self-professed petrolhead - is persuaded to attend a local car meet, despite fear of crossing paths with her ex-boyfriend. Instead, she meets handsome, funny and kind-hearted Chris Parker.
Chris' home life is complicated to say the least - a full-time carer for his disabled father. After relocating from the opposite end of the country for his dad's care, his speedy Ford Focus RS and the local car enthusiast meets provide a much-needed escape.
The attraction between Frankie and Chris is instant, intense and passionate. They soon discover they are the perfect match, but their circumstances are certainly less than. Standing in their way is a mutual friend with an unrequited crush, a jealous ex-boyfriend who will stop at absolutely nothing to rip them apart and a plethora of misunderstandings that leave Frankie wondering if Chris really is too good to be true after all.

I haven't really read any 'car enthusiasts romance' before. This will not be my last! I fell in love with each of the characters, described so perfectly that you can picture them in your head easily. Tim made me giggle every time he said a word. The MMC is just pure husband material, but quite the dark horse! I couldn't put this book down at all. It was so, so easy to read. I really want to hear more stories about Chris and Frankie after this sweet yet spicy romance.

Fast and furious who??
I absolutely loved this book. There’s street racing, love at first sight, a little bit of drama mixed in and let me tell ya, the spice🥵 Chris races hard but he loves harder, he’s everything Frankie has wanted and deserves! K.L. Thorn’s writing style was easy to follow and I fell in love with the characters just about as quickly as they were introduced! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A high-speed, emotionally charged street racing romance
High Octane delivers an adrenaline-pumping mix of street racing action and heartfelt romance, perfect for fans of the Fast and Furious franchise. The vivid race scenes and underground racing culture set a thrilling backdrop for a love story that’s anything but smooth.
Frankie and Chris's relationship kicks off with instant chemistry—there’s a spark between them from the very beginning. But their road to love is anything but easy. Complications arise, particularly in the form of Frankie’s relentless ex, who seems determined to sabotage her happiness. Misunderstandings, emotional baggage, and a few crossed wires test their growing bond.
Chris stands out as a genuinely likable and selfless character. His devotion to helping his father through a difficult time is touching and speaks volumes about his values. However, this same selflessness leads to tension between him and Frankie, especially when assumptions are made that cut deep. While Frankie eventually realizes her mistake and regrets her accusations, some words are hard to take back—and forgiveness doesn’t always come easy.
As the story progresses, Chris faces a life-altering decision that brings major consequences—not just for himself, but for his relationship with Frankie. Through heartbreak, growth, and a few bumps in the road, the couple’s journey evolves into something deeper and more meaningful.
High Octane is more than just a romance—it’s a story of emotional growth, resilience, and the fiery chemistry between two people learning to trust each other in a high-stakes world. Fans of intense, character-driven romance with a splash of speed and danger will find this a gripping read.

I didn't realize at first that this was a UK based book, so the British spellings and British slang threw me off at first.
Frankie and Chris were a cute couple, but outside of fast cars and Formula One, it didn't seem like they had any interests or personality. They definitely didn't have anything else in common. The relationship and their personalities felt flat because of it.
The main conflict between the couple was due to both not wanting to have an honest conversation about their circumstances. I hate the miscommunication trope, and I hate when the conflict could be solved completely by a 30-second conversation.
Graeme, the gay best friend, felt like he was written to be the stereotypical overly sexual twink while also being "manly" enough to enjoy fast cars. He was one of my favorite parts of the book, but he wasn't well-written. The only thing we really know about him is that he loves dick, fast cars, and Frankie. But this isn't unique to him. None of the characters were fleshed out or given real personalities.
The blurb also references "a jealous ex-boyfriend who will stop at absolutely nothing to rip them apart," and I found this aspect to be completely lacking. A few nasty comments, a pitiful fist fight, and a crash that may or may not have been on purpose... It just didn't nothing to add suspense, conflict, or danger. It was just a little disappointing.
Overall, despite my issues with the book, I had fun reading it, and there were sweet moments that made me giggle and kick my feet.

Frankie Williams is a self-professed petrohead and is feeling rather delicate after her latest long-term relationship ends. But, one night, her best friend persuades her to attend a local car meet, even though she is scared of seeing her ex-boyfriend again. But, instead of seeing her ex again, she ends up meeting handsome, funny, and kind-hearted Chris Parker.
Chris Parker's home life is complicated and one he doesn't talk about publicly. He's a full-time caregiver for his disabled father. Something he became after he relocated from the opposite end of the country, just so he could take care of his dad. Now his speedy Ford Focus RS and the local car enthusiast meet-ups are his one and only escapes, his one respite.
Neither Frankie nor Chris can deny the attraction they feel for the other from the moment they meet. It's intense, instant, and oh so passionate. It's not very much later that they realize that they are the perfect match in every way. It's their circumstances that are less than.
A mutual friend with an unrequited crush is standing in their way, a jealous ex-boyfriend will do what ever he has to to rip them apart and a multitude of misunderstandings leave Frankie wondering if Chris really is too good to be true after all.
If you are a fan of Fast & the Furious franchise and other smutty romance's, you're not going to want to miss this one!
I absolutely loved High Octane by K.L. Thorne. This book was a sweet blend of sweet romance, but it also had the element that was able to keep you on the edge of your seat, and the drama was oh so perfect.
I love how Frankie wasn't looking for love. She was just looking to go out and have fun and a great night out with her best guy friend. But fate had other plans and planted Chris Parker in her path with his charm and mystery. And the chemistry they had between them, oh my god, that chemistry was just too good. And when I read this book I was in need of a good insta-love. And I love how they tried to face their hurdles, including Chris's big huge secret together, although there were times when you had to wonder if they were going to get through it together.
I loved the other couple of this book, Graeme and Tim. They were the dynamic duo that had me laughing with their comedic chaos. Together, they kept the book feeling light.
But, then Chris had to go and make his big “Decision” and yes, it nearly cost him everything and it cost him a lot of stress, heartbreak and he had a very long slow climb back into the trust and love that he had previously earned.
I am so glad that Chris had the patience and the deep and real feelings to fight to win Frankie back, and this fight turned them into the perfect adorable couple that I have ever seen. I wish that everyone could find their own Chris Parker.
High Octane is such a delightful roller-coaster ride of emotions that's packed with so much charm, humor, and drama that's going to keep you hooked from start to frinish.
I highly recommend this book, and honestly, I would recommend any book written by K.L. Throrne.

High Octane is a thrill seeking street racing romance.
This really gives off some Fast and Furious vibes with the street racing scenes.
Frankie and Chris meet and try to have a bit of a relationship together, but Frankie's ex keeps popping up and trying to ruin things for them. They go through a few misunderstandings about each of their circumstances.
Chris was a great character. He does everything he can to support and help his father with what he is going through. He does it out of the goodness of his heart. But then Frankie gets some wires crossed and accuses him of things which he is not happy about. So him being selfless for his father does cause some problems between the two. When Frankie finds out her mistake she is remorseful, but sometimes you can't take back things which have been said and they can't be forgiven.
Then Chris makes a major decision which has some disastrous consequences and it almost costs him his relationship with Frankie. They go through a few snags in their relationship, but we really get to see these two mature together and make a solid relationship.
These two have an amazingly instant spark between them. You can tell from the get go there is a lot of chemistry between them.

When I seen this book had a reference to fast & furious, I knew I needed it in my life and jumped on it. I would have been a fool not too. K.L Thorne never disappoints in anything she writes, she always sucks us in and captivates us from the beginning. And she's done the exact same with this one..
It's such an emotional rollercoaster ride with ups and downs, I couldn't put it down once I started it, I was hooked from start to finish. I was obsessed. It's filled with banter, drama, love, secrets, action, deliciousness, heart break and so much more...
Their chemistry is crazy and instant , their attraction is undeniable. I instantly fell in love with Frankie and Chris, they slotted their place in my heart. Aswell as Graeme and Tim, they are two very hilarious people. That I truly need to see more off...
The characters, side characters, storyline was fucking phenomenal!!!! Wonderfully written as always.
Frankie has been burned and just wants to live here life and have fun with her besties. Living life to it's fullest. She isn't and wasn't looking for love but the universe had a different plan for her, in the form of a sexy, charming, mysterious hunk called Chris. What's a girl to do with that? She can't pass it up? Right! There's some bumps in the road , but it's one hell of a read. A must read.
Highly recommend 💯. Can't wait to see what she comes up with next. I'm a fan for life!!

Best friend Graeme finally convinces Frankie to attend a cruise after recently dumping David… a jerk street racer who was all wrong for her. At the meetup, Frankie meets Chris, a hunk of a man with an amazing car. He’s way too good to be true… until he isn’t. Frankie assumes the worst and Chris hasn’t been straight up with her from the start worrying about what she might think. On top of that, jerk David is so jealous it makes him reckless. Will this just be too much for them?
If you love cars and racing then this is the story for you. If you’re blissfully unaware of the street racing scene like I am, the story pulls you in anyway with the ups, downs and ste@my bits. So many scenes that made me smile and actually laugh out loud and the inevitable scary bit had me on the edge of my seat. Won’t give away the ending but it had me happy and annoyed all at once. It’s a must read!

This was the most adorable love story. And I loved every minute of Frankie and Chris’s journey. With shout to the animated sidekicks Graeme and Tim.
We meet Frankie who was just out of a relationship and not looking for anything when she spots the handsome Chris Parker from afar at a car cruise. When the exchange of numbers and flirting began, I knew it would be a budding romance but first Frankie had to overcome the secret Chris held. As with any relationships, there’s ups and downs but communication and honesty is key.
However Chris makes a critical decision at a cruise that almost costs him his life. But with patience and love, they grow into the most adorable couple. P.S. where can I find me a Mr. Parker??

I received an Advanced Reader Copy and am voluntarily reviewing it. Frankie Williams was getting over a break up with the help of her best friend, Graeme. Frankie was finally ready to get out again. Going to car cruises had been something she did with her ex-boyfriend, David. Frankie loved cars and refused to let David take that away from her. While there, Frankie meets Chris Parker. Chris Parker is THAT guy. Chris has a lot going on in his life. Somehow Frankie finds a way to fit right in. This is a love story with fast cars as the background. Ms. Thorne gives readers a lot in this fast paced story. I really enjoyed Frankie and Chris’ relationship from beginning to end. This is a fast read that all readers will enjoy.

If there is ever a day I don't like one of K. L. Thorne's books will be the day I'm six feet under.
As always, a complete masterpiece. I absolutely adored this. The plot was intense and interesting. It's fun to read about a fast and furious type of world for a change. I truly enjoyed the plot and romance in this one. There were twists, and there were turns. I held my breath plenty.
The MMC... gives off golden retriever come bad boy vibes. I love how caring he is as well as super mega protective of his girl.
The FMC was also impeccably written. I loved how outspoken and intense she is just super awesome.

Please check CW and TW before reading this one. I really enjoyed the racing and car stuff lol that was in the book definitely had my heart pounding. I liked Chris's character I think his back story was super interesting. Definitely can see this potentially happening. There was just something about Frankie that I can't put my finger on that I just didn't care for in the beginning. she did grow on me and I cared about her character at the end.

I really liked this contemporary romance about street racing and petrolheads. Frankie is a fun character with a little bit of everything that makes a main character enjoyable. Chris is a resilient guy who finds more to love than his suped up ride at a car meet one night. The two have a whirlwind romance and quickly go from interested to involved. His dad was a nice addition to the story, as well as their friends who are super supportive and a constant supply of comedy. I felt a bit lost in parts where things were not explained well to those unfamiliar with UK-specific rules, but I was able to move past it and not miss the major storyline.

This was adorable! A perfect meet cute moment when the characters needed it most.
Frankie, she’s just ended a long term relationship (well a few months prior) and if finally ready to get back to the things she enjoys.
Chris, has spent the last few years caring for his dad. He’s new in town and happy to enter the car scene.
When they meet sparks fly. They like any couple have their moments of emotional reactions before logic. But they work it out. They’re a great couple. I enjoyed falling in love with them.

Thank you Book Sirens for the ARC of this book to read and review early.
This book was okay. The premise was different from most romances i’ve read before and that’s mostly what intrigued me. The relationship between the MMC and FMC seemed a little juvenile for my taste. Despite the smut parts of the book, it was mostly juvenile. Pretty easy read but not something i’d recommend for my circle of readers.

From a girl who grew up during the original hype for Fast and Furious, I was excited for this book. Frankie and Chris have an amazing story. Chris seems like a guy anyone could fall for, especially with how he loves, and if he loves you, he will do whatever it takes. Frankie feels like a girl you know who just wants someone to pick them, and she, also, will spoil you with her love, too.
Great twists and turns in the book. Fast read.

I freaking love everything of KL’s that I have read, but this might just be my favorite. And that’s saying something considering I’ve read her Hestaesia series three times!!!
This book is in her racing series and it is 🥵🥵🥵. Steamy, fast paced, and I mean who doesn’t love a badass FMC?? Frankie and Chris are totally meant to be together and I love their character development. I was rooting for them the whole book!!! I absolutely devoured this and I need more like ASAP!!!!!! Well done KL!!

High Octane by K.L. Thorne
This book arrived from the UK and I was very excited to read it. The story of Frankie and Chris as they navigate some of lives curveballs as they learn to trust and love each other. This book does include a good helping of spice, but nothing outrageous. The book is soooo relateable and threw me back to the late teen years hanging in parking lots. This story wraps up nice and neat, and the epiloge is the perfect unintentional slap in the ex’s face.

I want more of Chris and Frankie!
I loved this street racing read! Chris and Frankie are the perfect couple and their relationship felt real. I found this was an emotional read and I loved every minute of it. I laughed, I cried and I fanned myself several time during this read. I highly recommend this and all of KL’s books!

Straight away, this book had me hooked! It was easy to read and just flowed! I loved the characters (even the annoyingly funny Tim!) I was so glad there was an epilogue 5yrs later! I loved every minute!

Chris and Frankie
The relationship between these two starts kinda hot and heavy. There's instant attraction, lust, and love. Unfortunately, forces try to interfere, sow doubts, and cause turmoil. The ex, David is a real piece of work. Hang onto your hats for this one.

Frankie is a girl once scorned and Chris is the main caregiver for his dad after an accident. They meet at a car race and Frankie falls for Chris’s car. They continue to meet at different car races. Will it just be a one night stand or do they stand a chance at love?
I couldn’t put down the book. The chemistry between Frankie and Chris was off the charts. I enjoyed the playful banter and the depth of the main characters. I would’ve liked to have seen a bit more to the prologue and add a bit more finishing touches to the story but overall it was really good and engaging.
