The night before my wedding, I walked into my Vegas hotel suite and found my fiancé in bed with my best friend.
Yeah. I know. World’s biggest cliché.
But maybe I should’ve seen it coming. He’s a runway god—the son of a fashion mogul. And me? I’m just the people-pleasing, insecure girl from the wrong side of town, hiding behind a designer dress and a dream.
I ran. Out of the suite. Out of my own life. And straight into the arms of Roman Marinelli—NHL superstar, my high school friend, and the Buck’s biggest player... on and off the ice.
Roman dried my tears and reminded me what it feels like to be seen. While I lost everything I thought I wanted—my fiancé, my dream fashion internship, my picture-perfect future—with Roman, I found something I never expected.
Because with him, I don’t have to pretend. Not even a little.
But just when I start to believe in second chances, Roman does something that breaks me all over again.
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Cathryn Fox is a wife, mom, sister, daughter, aunt and friend. She loves dogs, sunny weather, anything chocolate (she never says no to a brownie) pizza and red wine. Cathryn lives in beautiful Nova Scotia with her husband, who is convinced he can turn her into a mixed martial arts fan. When not writing, Cathryn can be found Skyping with her son living in Seattle (could he have moved any farther away?) shopping with her daughter in the city, watching a big action flick with her husband, or hanging out and laughing with friends.
These two were a lot of fun, and then they brought all the heart! They needed that fun though, to grow closer, to know life can be carefree, to truly weave happiness into every day life. While she figures out who she is and where she wants to go with life, he is readjusting everything he has held true as his life’s mantra. It is all good until it isn’t, and even then, it is a blip until they get it all together, and this time forever, again <3
What suppose to be a wonderful day turned into a nightmare for Gabby when she walked in on her fiancé in bed with her best guy friend. Part of her knew she shouldn’t be surprised because she had seen some signs but it wasn’t like she could just walk away from him. I mean after all his father wasn’t just anyone, he was a fashion mogul and she was trying to make her way in fashion design. He could end her possible career before she even made it. But then magic happened, Gabby ran into someone, not just anyone, but a friend from the past, who would go out of his way to help her. What she wasn’t planning though was to fall in love with him, even though he said right from the start it couldn’t happen.
Roman Marinelli, aka Romeo by his teammates has a life plan, play hockey until it was no longer possible and never, ever, ever get in a relationship let alone get married. Which was becoming more difficult to follow as here he was at another Boston Bucks teammates weddings. Then he noticed someone from his past, his high school friend Gabby, who was running away from her own wedding day fiasco. In true knight in hockey armor fashion Roman gave Gabby an option, sneak out of Vegas with him, hide at his place for awhile and decide what she wanted to do with her life. But then with the definite connection between them, Roman realized what he planned for his life and what would happen are two very different things. His only hope now is he hasn’t ruined it all.
This is supposed to be the final book in the Boston Bucks series but part of me is really hoping it isn’t. I want to see all these characters together again and find out the good, the bad, the ugly and if someone is still using Mrs Roper’s dress as a disguise. Another great book by Cathryn Fox that is definitely one to add to your TBR list.
Roman, known as Romeo by his teammates, has a rock-solid plan never to get married. Clothing designer Gabby is on the rebound after catching her fiancé sleeping with her best friend the night before her wedding. Despite the cliché, I found this friends-to-lovers, sports romance a fun one. I really liked the clothing designs Gabby was designing by the end of the book. I also enjoyed the references to a "Mrs. Roper" convention in Las Vegas with women dressed in hideous house dresses and wigs. I imagine that this will have younger readers Googling who Mrs. Roper is as they read the book. I look forward to reading the next in the series.
