Being the last surviving charter member of the Voodoo Troops MC, Duncan “Judge” Makay lives a life on the road, attempting to outrun demons that haunt his nights. No matter where he ventures, guilt lies around every curve, guiding him back to the clubhouse.
Second-grade teacher, Leana Murphy, is a strong, independent woman whose world revolves around the only family she has, her daughter, leaving little time for herself or relationships. But when she meets the rugged-looking older biker in the park, a spark ignites that she’s powerless to ignore. She longs for family. He craves peace.
What will it take for Judge and Leana to cast away their fears and realize love is all they need?
Jewelz Baxter lives with her husband in Louisiana near their children and grandchildren. She values her family and loves supporting their grandchildren's sports and hobbies.
Over the years Jewelz filled notebook after notebook with stories in her spare time. With her husband's encouragement, she shared those stories and received positive responses from others; prompting her to follow her dream and take the plunge of publishing.
When not writing or spending time with family she can be found on a Harley exploring the backroads with her husband. Jewelz has her own bike but confirms there is nothing like being on the back seat wrapped around her man.
This is another addition to the VooDoo Troops MC series and it followed Nomad Judge. Judge was one of the originals of the MC who now lived life on the road. Leana was a school teacher who had the cutest daughter and was the first to gain Judge’s attention.
This revolves around an older couple with an age gap storyline. This book was more of a sweet MC book. I did like the interaction between Judge and Natalie.
3.75stars-JUDGE SENTENCED TO LIFE is the twelfth (and final?) instalment in Jewelz Baxter’s contemporary, adult VOODOO TROOPS MC romance series. This is sixty year old, OG/ rogue Duncan ‘Judge’ Makay, and second grade teacher, forty-one year old, single mother Leana Murphy’s story line. JUDGE SENTENCED TO LIFE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for mores sensitive readers.
Told from dual omniscient third person perspectives (Judge and Leana), using present day and memories from the past, JUDGE SENTENCED TO LIFE follows Duncan ‘Judge’ Makay as he reconsiders his future going forward. As the only surviving charter member of the Voodoo Troops MC, Judge prefers the open road, without commitments, and only his nightmares and memories as a reminder of everything he has lost but meeting single mother Leana Murphy and her precocious daughter Natalie at the local Easter egg hunt, gave Duncan MacKay pause. His attraction to Leana was immediate but Leana having been hurt in the past, kept her distance from the man who had stolen her daughter’s heart. When Leana’s past returns, Judge is determined to become guardian and protector of the woman with whom he is falling in love but fate had other plans for the surviving OG.
The world building follows Judge as he journeys between clubs, helping set into motion a non-profit for women struggling. With Leana by his side, Judge sees a future for the first time in his life.
The relationship between Judge and Leana is one of immediate attraction but Leana continues to struggle with issues of trust, and the inherent belief pertaining to any MC. Judge finds himself falling for a woman who is battling her own demons, until a perceived betrayal pushed Leana out of his life. The $ex scenes are passionate but limited, and mostly implied.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, energetic and familiar secondary and supporting characters including all of the previous story line couples. We get a quick overview of their lives, how they met, and the possibilities for the future.
JUDGE SENTENCED TO LIFE is a story of new beginnings, family and friendships, acceptance and love. The character driven premise is heart warming and captivating; the romance is subtle and impassioned; the characters are numerous, determined and dynamic.
I really liked this story. I haven’t read any of the others in this series, but this made me want to read them and see how the couples came to be. Judge and Leanna’s story was so good. It is an age gap, but with an older couple. Leana is a single mom and a school teacher and Judge is a nomad who has been on the road for years. A chance encounter with a cute little girl and her mom. They captivated him from their first meeting. Natalie is just the cutest girl and I loved her interaction with Judge. Leana and Natalie give Judge ideas of staying home and not being on the road as a nomad. Is he ready to put the past to rest and build a future with these two? There’s some drama and angst and an instant connection between both characters.
This is the first book of this series that I have read. I fell in love with all the characters, especially Blue, she breaths life into it as only a precocious child can. Leana and Judge are both different, he is running from a tragedy so bad that he can’t stay at the home club and goes Nomad. Leana is trying to raise her daughter on her own with no help and doing a great job, but when she meets Judge and he takes the time to make her little girls dreams come true by sending her poker chips from different places, she starts to lose her heart. During their times together, they form a tight bond and start the healing for them both, and Leana is accepted into the club as an Old lady and a friend to the club. Judge finally feels like coming home and staying for Leana and Blue.
Judge Sentenced To Life is book 12 in the VooDoo Troops MC and is Leana and Judges story. I love this story! It's a fantastic age gap read! The dynamics between these characters is the very definition of family. Having each other's back, in good times and bad. Judge and Leana are utterly perfect for each other and completing the little family is sweet little Natalie. This story is heartwarming and beautiful in every way.
Judge is one of the original Voodoo Troops MC, but unable to come to terms with a traumatic event, he sentenced himself to life as a Nomad. He becomes enchanted by a little girl he meets in the park and the pair’s friendship blossoms. Before long Natalie’s mum is constantly in Judge’s thoughts too.
A sweet story of an age-gap, single parent romance with a good twist of angst and drama. It is light on spice but heavy with MC family.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Raw, rugged, and full of heart. Jewelz Baxter delivers an emotional ride with Judge Sentenced to Life. Judge is the kind of broken, brooding biker you can’t help but root for, and Leana brings a warmth and strength that balances him beautifully. Their story is equal parts grit and tenderness, and the emotional payoff is so worth it. A perfect blend of MC romance and real, heartfelt connection. Loved every minute!
I typically prefer books to be at a minimum of 200 pages. Otherwise I feel the storyline suffers from not enough details. I was pleasantly surprised that this short book was able to capture my attention and still deliver on a strong story. Loved reading Judge and Leanna’s age gap story. This was a very sweet story and worth the read!
Leana and judge are relationship goals for sure. I adore all of the books in this series but oh boy this one got to me. This story has so much drama, action and steam. If you never have read a book in this series you don’t know what your missing.
Coming home, one person finding a family they didn't know they needed, the other realizing they could come home to the one that was always there. Two souls that come together giving each other what they not only want but need to complete a full circle.
Love the characters and the club. Great storyline and an amazing read. Love the drama and the banter. Natalie aka Blue is funny. I love the kids in single parent books. They are always hilarious. Couldn't put it down. I now have to go back and read the other 11 books in this series.
