Captured by the Rogue Fae

Rate this book
I’m the last Keeper of an ancient relic.

So of course fate chained me to a ruthless rogue fae who wants to use me.

Arion Veydris is cold, calculating, and fae—everything I was raised to fear.
He didn’t rescue me. He captured me.

Now we’re tethered by ancient magic.
Turns out, I’m the key to unlocking a relic that could rewrite the future and his past.

I don’t trust him.
He doesn’t care.

But when we’re attacked by monsters, he shields me with his body.
When I can’t read the runes, he murmurs the translation in my ear.
When I cry in my sleep, he pretends not to notice, but keeps watch all night anyway.

I shouldn’t feel anything for him.
But I do.

I’ve fallen for the enemy.
And the Wheel of Solstice is waking.

The problem?
The Wheel doesn’t just need my blood. It needs our bond.

Love was never the plan—
but it might be the only way to survive what's coming.

After loving Court of the Orphan and Her Fae, I wanted to read anything else by Claire Larkin! I added this to my TBR and then also added Redemption of the Cursed Fae when I saw it was releasing just a few months later.

What I was excited about, after choosing to wait to read them together, is that the villianous brother of Captured by the Rogue Fae's MMC Arion is Redemption of the Cursed Fae's MMC Eryndor. ❤️ and the first book's FMC Elara is mentioned in the third book, bringing it all together as I had hoped.

So, for those commenting that it reads like it should be a series.. I haven't found a series name (I call it Wheel of Solstice), though I'd recommend reading all 3 of Larkin's books in publishing order for full enjoyment since they are connected. I snagged my copy of the short story Court of the Orphan and Her Fae from one of many author emails with links to free romantasy books and the other two books released this year are both available through KU. Happy reading!

These books have: ancient magic, runes, fate, secret Queen, reincarnated lovers, fae brothers, bringing life back to the lands, betrayal & exile, leylines, elders, shadows, prophecy, humans & fae uniting, sorceress, cursed prince, and definite spice 🌶

What a great story that is an absolute quick read. I haven’t read anything by Claire Larkin and this was a great book to start out on. There is a good amount of information packed into this book, but nothing ever feels forced or unrealistic for their world.

Our MCs are definitely put through a lot in this story. Danea (FMC) is strong and fierce, while Arion (MMC) is charming and hard to resist. These two have so much heat between the two of them and Claire spares us no details when it comes to these two igniting the pages.

I definitely will be reading more of Claire and catching up to her other books. Claire introduced me to a beautiful world that I can’t wait to go back to and learn more about it, these amazing characters, and meet more characters in her other books.

As always, review any author notes before reading.

3/5 Spicy. 🌶️🌶️🌶️

I am so confused, I don't think I've ever been MORE confused about how to review something ever before in my life. Because, 10/10, I LOVED THIS. Loved the characters, loved the world, loved the story.

However I feel like I just read the shortened condensed version of a trilogy in the span of a novella and I feel fucking weird about it. This entire thing- the intro to the characters, the journey, the build up and the explanation of power, could EASILY be stretched into a TRILOGY. There is so much here and it's given just enough to make it good and have just enough context when I feel like I got the SparkNotes Version of it instead of the Tolkien High-Fantasy version it should be.

This is the first novel I have read by Claire Larkin and I really enjoyed it.

The storyline draws you straight in from the very first pages. I love the development of the characters throughout the book. This book has a duel POV which I love, and I like the way that the spice is added into the storyline.

I don’t like giving plotlines away or spoilers, so I recommend this paranormal/supernatural romance.
Go ahead and give it a read. You will enjoy it.

This book was fast paced from chapter 1. Having read court of the orphan and her fae first helped me understand their world and how things worked. Arion is looking for the keeper of the wheel of solstice but he hasn’t a clue who it is. He meets Danae and his world spirals out of control as their bond deepens. I’m hoping the next book ties in with this as I really want to learn more about their lives and world.

Did Not Finish

DNF at 41%. I hate to do this but something about the writing and story just could not keep my interest. I wasn’t attached to either MC, I was wildly confused about what was going on, and even though the writing was a bit verbose and detailed, none of the details felt relevant. I didn’t have a clear picture of what anyone looked like, I didn’t have enough details about what was going on, and the tension between the MCs felt forced. No rating since I didn’t finish it.

What a tale ! I was entangled in the story of capture, love and the power of love in time! Danae and Arion incase you in a tale that show how time has no baring.
🌶️🌶️🌶️ was descriptive and captivating.
I highly recommend

Action packed from start to finish. A lil spice drizzled in. Dual POV.
This was a quick read that also allows us a glimpse into the future, which is something I love from authors. I recommend reading this if you like fae adventures and are in between reads. Definitely a great palate cleanser 😀

Arion and Danae. Hes Fae. Shes from the village. Their worlds are about to collide.
Theres humor. Action. Banter. Betrayal. Gets a little angsy. Prophesy. Fast easy read.

Interesting But Something Is Missing

At its heart, this is a love story. I struggled to care about Danae and Arions destiny. There were intriguing moments and the characters are well developed. I think the attempt to be mysterious left gaps in the story arc.

I liked the start but not the rest too much. I did like the writing style.

I think in a longer romantasy book it would’ve been easier but the premise was good. The only bit that confused me is the FMC suddenly seems to know him out of nowhere and know stuff she wouldn’t know? But they may have just been me😂 like maybe it’s just like a fated mates thing because I feel that’s what it was.

The spice was good

‘Captured By The Rogue Fae’ started with action, giving us a great look into the mindset and personalities of the MCs. The story ends on a sigh, giving us keen insight into what their life has become, after all the trauma, near misses, and understandings they’ve experienced. This is a great little book. It is recommended.

I loved the storyline. It has good build-up and character development. I like that Danae the FMC, isn't a damsel in distress. I enjoyed the banter and the spice level was just right.
