A heart-pounding thriller exploring the ongoing connections we have with our past lives and the reasons we keep coming back to this world ... After arriving at his ex-wife's East Village apartment to ID her body, Sonny Clark vows to make sure whoever killed her pays. When the cops tell him they don't want him hanging around, playing vigilante, while they're busy working the case, Sonny heads for the Colorado Rockies to plan what he'll do if they come up short. Camped in the mountains near the town of Redemption, Sonny is haunted by visions of people being murdered, and images of a mysterious woman. The other campers tell him a tale of two drifters and the killing spree they went on over a century ago, right there in Redemption, suggesting he meet Nora, owner of the town store. Turns out she's the woman in his visions and he feels an overpowering attraction to her. She says she's been waiting for him, telling him they were lovers in that other life and now have another chance to be together. She goes on, giving him details of the tragic day and showing him photos she's collected of the victims. They look a lot like Sonny, Nora, the campers, and Sonny's ex-wife. When Sonny tells Nora about his ex-wife's murder, Nora is certain the drifters have also come back, intent on killing them all over again. Soon bodies are piling up, and Sonny and Nora's chances of being together become much slimmer when an unearthly conspiracy comes to light, putting Sonny and Nora's lives at even greater risk and turning their notions of reality upside down as they fight for survival while trapped in an illusionary world filled with strange creatures, and where only bad things can happen.
