A little boy dreams about finding a dinosaur, but instead discovers many even more fantastical creatures! Young readers will be charmed by this heartwarming picture book.
Marty is crazy about dinosaurs. His mother explains to him why they no longer exist, but Marty thinks they're just good at hiding--and he sets off, determined to find one! On his journey, Marty discovers all sorts of other weird and wonderful creatures--from aliens to unicorns to giants--but Marty isn't interested in them. He won't give up until he finds a dinosaur...no matter HOW long it takes!
Fantastic illustrations and a fun story. Marty is looking for one thing and discovers others but it also teaches kids to never grow up and always believe in the "unimaginable".
Marty's mom tells him about dinosaurs one day. He decides he would like to spend some time with a dinosaur so he sets out to look for one. He looks everywhere, but only finds a monster, elves, a unicorn, a dragon, and other non-dinosaur type creatures. Marty's mom tries to convince him that dinosaurs no longer exist. But Marty is not convinced. He determines to look even harder since the dinosaurs are hiding so well.
The illustrations are highly textured. They are very colorful and detailed, but not overly so. Occasionally the lettering of the words is too dark for the picture making it difficult to see. I could have done without the elves parachuting with mom's bra in this children's book as well.
This story is pure fantasy, but it is full of surprises. You have no idea what fantasy creature is going to show up on the next page. I love the fold out pages of what looks like a dinosaur at first, but ends up as something else when you open the flaps. This story encourages imagination and thinking in the realm of the impossible. It is not really a book about dinosaurs.
This book is advertized for ages 3-5. I think 6 and 7 year olds will enjoy it as well.
This book talks about a little boy named Marty who was very interested in finding these dinosaurs. His mother tries to explain to him that dinosaurs were from a very long time ago and they are not around anymore, but Marty insisted on finding one lying around the house somewhere. After searching and searching and finding everything but dinosaurs he finally gave up and told how dinosaurs were GREAT at hiding.
A sweet story about a boy looking for dinosaurs. This is a good book for a storytime. Pictures are big and bright, not too busy. Early literacy ideas such as vocabulary and narration work well with this book.
I found this book was very educational and fun for children to read. I enjoyed reading this book because it gave me clues on where to find the saurus. Its a good way for children to explore their imagination and think of what could happen each time you turn the page.
My kids loved looking for the dinosaurs through out the story. They thought it was a funny book. I thought it was clever and unique. It was fun to read over and over.
