Berylka’s healing journey begins the moment she tumbles into the river. When she washes up in Silverfern Hollow, all she wants is to be left alone with her cozy cottage, her battered tools, and the territorial baby dragon who’s claimed her sock drawer as its den. But the town has other plans. Starting with raspberry wine, a witch, and a mysterious creature at her doorstep who insist on becoming her friends. There's also Brannic, the local a broad-shouldered brute with a secret artistic streak and a soft spot for Berylka. They start off as rivals and clash like iron on anvil... until sparks fly. As Berylka rediscovers her dream of goldsmithing, she finds herself drawn into the warmth of a town that doesn’t care about her past. But when river pirates threaten everything she’s come to love, she must decide if she’s ready to fight—not just for the Hollow, but for a future forged with her own hands. A Goblin's Guide to Goldsmithing is a cozy fantasy of found family, healing journey, grumpy rivals-to-lovers romance, and baby dragons. It weaves in serious themes like recovering from domestic abuse with warmth, humor, and heart. It's book 2 of the Tales of Silverfern Hollow series. Each book can be read as a standalone.
As amazing as the first novel! A delectable tale of friendship, overcoming one's past hardships, and learning to trust again, all wrapped in the beautiful package that is Silverfern Hollow. ❤️ It was such a treat to be able to come back to this magical place and follow the newcomer Berylka's steps while sipping on a hot chocolate and indulging in sweet treats, wrapped in a blanket ! If you love all things cosy and magical, look no further. I have discovered a new genre thanks to R.S.S. Rodriguez and never going back !
From the very first page, A Goblin's Guide to Goldsmithing pulls you into an emotional and uplifting story about what it means to be different — and how those very differences can become your greatest strengths.
Berylka’s journey is both full of past hurts, tender and empowering. Faced with challenges that would cause many to retreat inward, she instead learns to face the world with quiet resilience and growing confidence. The story beautifully illustrates how strength isn’t always loud or forceful — sometimes, it’s found in showing up, in accepting other's kindness and in being kind when it’s hard, and in choosing to stand tall even when you feel small.
The author’s writing is heartfelt. The emotional moments hit with authenticity, and the triumphs feel genuinely earned. The supporting cast also shines, offering meaningful relationships that emphasize the importance of connection, understanding, and acceptance.
Whether you're someone who has ever felt out of place, or simply a reader looking for a moving story with emotional depth, this books offers a warm, hopeful reminder that being different is not something to overcome — it’s something to embrace.
This is more than a story about overcoming adversity; it’s a celebration of the human spirit, and a tribute to the quiet power we all carry within us.
Thank you Ressena, for giving me the chance to be one of your ARC readers for this second book too. I can't wait for the next one!
I absolutely devoured this book and the story, such a cute cosy read. Main character is a female goblin refinding herself after escaping an abusive husband (very briefly mentioned), everyone's mum the tavern owner, the towns healing witch, a guarded blacksmith with a very hidden talent, and a very welcoming helpful cosy little river town.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ for magical world weaving and story creation
⭐⭐ Because there was simply was not enough of this book, and I wanted more Forgesinger smithing and becoming a jewellery maker and selling her wears through bluebells shop
I loved this book. Like I inhaled this book. Rodrigues really has a knack for creating worlds that readers can really get lost in. This book is the second in the Tales of Silverfern Hallow series but could be read as a standalone. You would miss the details and backgrounds of certain characters if you didn't read the first book, but it doesn't take away the enjoyment of this one.
The characters in this book are all memorable and you really feel like you are a part of this small, magical town. While this is a cozy book, I appreciate that the author didn't gloss over the FMC's past trauma or any of the traumas experienced by other characters in this realm. Things can be cozy and sparkly on the outside, but there are still shadows. Also, I literally would fight the world for Piepkin and Barghest. Can't wait for book three to come out. Will re read book one while I wait.
