Hand down, the FUNNIEST book I have ever read! I'm hoping they make a movie out if it because it would be freaking spectacular!

Forget The Hangover, there needs to be a movie based off of this book. Absolutely hilarious! I could not put this book down. I wanted to see what was going to happen next with out of control bachelorette Helen, and her (not so) uptight friends. Not to mention Zadie and the forbidden hottie. This book is a must read for any chick lit fan!

Read something so hilarious after such a long time. Way too witty and filled with sarcasm, this book is surely going to be one of your favorite books!
It's about a left-at-the-alter-bride, Zadie, a high school teacher, who was assigned by her bff, Grey, to loosen up his uptight to-be-bride, Helen(sadly, Zadie's way too perfect cousin) on her bachelorette party. Zadie was too against the idea of love and marriage. But the twists and turns of that bachelorette party changes her life forever, it makes her realize there is indeed room for someone special in her life and that she is too in need of that someone special. Although she was quite successful in turning that bachelorette party into a wild one!

So if you want a good laugh, go for this book, because you're going to enjoy a lot and also learn how Zadie lusted for a 17-year old guy, Trevor from her school. The author has surely managed to make this plot seriously into a funny and witty chick-lit novel. Pick this book and you're sure going to laugh out, until your stomach hurts!!

Crass, vulgar, unrealistic and offensive. Why did I finish reading it? I don't know. I'm a sucker for a story, I guess. The end turned out alright and the story was some what humorous at times, if you can get past the vulgarity. I really wouldn't recommend this book to anyone.

Someone suggested this to me as the funniest book they'd ever read. I now have to question that woman's sense of humor.

I appreciated the premise. Even the chapters devoted to the Bachelorette Party itself. But to find any shred of sympathy for the main character felt virtually impossible. This woman is a bi tch. Judgemental, mean, crude. A reader would assume the author is, as well. I've always noticed the overuse of words in books - "coquettish" in 50 Shades of Grey, "gilded" in The Starless Sea, etc, but nothing was more off putting than an author, even in 2005, using the word "retarded" THREE TIMES in a book. Throw in her use of "homo" and "short bus" and I was just about done with this author. Those are mean girl words. I've never, in my life, called anyone a homo, let alone read it in a book by girls out for a Bachelorette night.

Hard pass on recommending this one. You are all better than this author and this book.

Maybe I was biased by the 980-page historical fiction book I had just finished, but this book is rubbish. There wasn't an intriguing page in the book, and some of the story line was actually disgusting. I don't know an adult woman alive who would condone sex with a student, even if he WAS of age!! Don't bother with this one.

The Bachelorette Party is a standalone novel written by author and screenwriter Karen McCullah Lutz. The book centers around a group of women throwing a bachelorette party for the seemingly perfect, virgin bride: Helen. The agenda is very structured and filled with tea, spa, and shopping, but the groom asks his best friend Zadie to make sure Helen loosens up a bit and has a good time. Well, to make this happen, the agenda gets a detour and alcohol is introduced. Apparently Helen is a TOTALLY different person once she gets some drinks in her bloodstream. OMG, some parts of this book were so inappropriately funny, I was dying! There is some storyline in this book apart from the bachelorette party theme so it's not all raunchy humor. In my opinion, it is 5-star worthy but I knocked a star off due to The Bachelorette Party is a quick read, approximately 250 pages. I would recommend this for a genuine laugh, and a story about unlikely friendships.

Karen McCullah Lutz co-wrote movies: Legally Blonde, 10 Things I Hate About You, Ella Enchanted, She's The Man, The House Bunny, and The Ugly Truth. The Bachelorette Party was slated to be adapted to film as well but it never came to pass for some reason, but I do hope it comes to the screen at some point. It would be hilarious!

My favorite quote:
"Grey was blinded the moment he saw her. Zadie remembered the moment well. They were sitting in the church at Denise's wedding. Fifth row from the front. Helen was the maid of honor, last one down the aisle before the bride. Grey's whole body stiffened when he caught sight of her. He's grabbed Zadie's hand and, without dragging his eyes away from Helen, asked, 'Who's that?' From that moment on, he was smitten. Everything Helen did or said convinced Grey that he'd met the woman of his dreams. And six months later, Zadie was standing in a loud bar watching Helen publicly hump a blow-up doll on the back of a fake bull in celebration of her pending nuptials. Love was grand."

The Bachelorette Party will hook you from the first page and will never disappoint! What should have been a wonderful weekend party, turns into a weekend from hell with a dead body added to the mix. The animosity the group feels towards each other is palpable. The reasons, unknown. And when the secrets are exposed well, the explosions can be heard all around New Orleans! But who is killed and why is frustratingly saved for the reader until the jaw dropping ending!

Rosalee is marrying Asher Beake, who she feels is the love of her life. A lawyer, he comes from a very wealthy family. Rosalee can’t help but wonder, why her? So as a group of family and friends organize a bachelorette party, to The Big Easy, with most of them not really wanting to be there it seems to go downhill beginning at the airport. The cast of characters, one of which will be dead by the end include:

Rosalee, the bride to be. A bit insecure due to the fact she knows her soon to be husband’s mother and sister don’t care for her thinking he could do much better. She has no family other than a cousin named Tinsley as her parents died when she was young in a car accident. She hopes everybody can just get along. But she is a bit concerned about one thing. She thinks perhaps Asher is cheating on her with one of the wedding party. And that is only one of Rosalee’s secrets.

Elizabeth Beake is Asher’s mother. She cannot particularly stand Rosalee and does not understand why her son would pick this mouse. She had always hoped he and his best friend from childhood, Georgia would finally see they were made for each other. Something Elizabeth continually says! She is still recovering from losing her husband last year and between this wedding and her daughter Bri’s antics she just wants the weekend to go quickly. Although Elizabeth herself does not share everything with her family.

Bri, the soon to be sister-in-law, does not care for Rosalee and tries to embarrass her whenever she can. She too doesn’t want her as a member of their family and will perhaps attempt to make some waves. But Bri is a drinker and sometimes is an embarrassment to herself. Why does she drink so much? We will find out!

Mara, the best friend, does not like either of Rosalee’s soon to be family. And she plans on showing them just how much on this trip. She wants to make their lives miserable. Yes, she’s a bit jealous and yes even though she planned the trip she has no money, but she adores Rosalee and knows how they have been treating her.

Georgia is Asher’s childhood best friend and doesn’t really know why she is here. She can’t imagine Rosalee wanting her here, but Elizabeth insisted she come. She was a nurse but left her position to start a yoga studio. She feels Rosalee has the wrong impression of her. Worst of all, someone is threatening her and could ruin what is left of her new career.

Tinsley is Rosalee’s only relative, the cousin she went to live with when her parent died. At first Tinsley resented Rosalee’s presence as she and her mother had always been best friends. Tinsley, a bookworm who kept to herself always had to work hard for what she had whereas Rosalee was the life of the party and was able to go to college because of the money she was left when her parents died. She still lives paycheck to paycheck and oh, by the way, she’s paying for everything because Mara is waiting for her “windfall”.

Just remember this…they all have secrets and bitterness towards each other. Anyone of them could be pushed to the limit and accidentally, intentionally kill! And the anticipation of the who, what, where how and why will kill you!

Zadie's fiancé never showed up to her wedding day, so she is kind of disillusioned by love. Then her best guy friend get's engaged to Zadie's least favorite cousin. Helen, Zadie's cousin, has presented herself as the perfect person. She always remembers to send birthday presents, doesn't drink, is a virgin, and works hard on her public image. Grey is Zadie's best friend and the one who has gotten her through her break up. Zadie has to stand up in their wedding party now and at the Bachelorette party the gloves come off on it all.

Things start to happen in Zadie's love life, everyone has told her to get back out their and the position that she needs to get her confidence in that department just might present it's self. But, when it comes around will Zadie be able to follow through. Helen loosens up a little, but with that secrets come out and secretes that people may not have wanted to know and now they have to decide what to do with that information. Especially since what happens at a Bachelorette Party stays at the party right.

This is a hilarious book. Girls getting close to going out of control, with free flowing booze and amusement resumes. Karen really has a way with words and is great in her descriptions. She is a screen writer on some great chick flicks and I just really recommend this book, but be prepared for walking the line on some issues, it doesn't shy away from sex that is for sure.

I definitely picked this up based on the blurb about "Legally Blonde" on the cover. That being said, it really tainted my impression of the novel, because what I ended up reading was essentially a bad version of The Hangover.

Zadie has been left at the altar by her soap-opera-star fiance. Her best friend is now marrying her cousin. And her life is spiraling out of control. But she becomes a bridesmaid and the party starts when Zadie encourages the bride-to-be to drink. Things get out of hand. Zadie makes some very, very poor choices. Let me be very specific here:

Not funny. Just kind of crass and not in a great way. Zadie is also an awful person (see spoiler above if you dare) and I cannot recommend this book.

I picked this book up by accident at the bookstore and am so SO glad I did!

I really loved this book. I found myself laughing so hard I had tears running down my face. Sadie is a great character to follow and I'm glad I got to be in her head for the duration of the book. The smart and snarky remarks she makes, the nicknames she gives some of the other girls at the party, and her interactions with the people around her really make this one a gem.

I was glad that the book got a little bit more serious at the end and addressed some of the more pressing issues like

I would recommend this book to anyone who has a bit of a dirty and twisted sense of humor and can take things with a grain of salt.

A hysterical page-turner I was able to breeze thru in 1.5 days of reading. All profanities aside (probably the most hysterical part of the book itself), the characters are exaggerated, making them all the more entertaining.

The plot line is simple. your best friend, the groom, is marrying your angelic-absolutely-perfect-in-every-way cousin, who you quietly hate due to her perfection. When your best friend asks you to make sure his bride-to-be loosens up at her bachelorette party and has a good time, no one could have guessed how much of a "good time" could have been accomplished. (not to mention how many skeletons come out of the closet).

Girls really do just want to have fun! But is there a line between fun and too much fun?

I haven’t read a book that made me laugh out loud in a minute, but this book did not disappoint! I won’t lie, this book is very raunchy but that’s what makes it so good. This book is based on a bachelorette party(obviously) that begins to go wrong when the goody-goody bride has some secrets from the past. The main character Zadie, is an amazing narrator of the book with real life feelings. If you’re not a fan open-door romance or age gap romance this book is not for you but if you like a little sprinkle of sex scenes then you’ll really enjoy this book!

So many of the reviews say this is so good and funny but I couldn't do it. I got 31 pages in and I put it down.

I couldn't get over the FMC lusting over her high school student. It mentioned he was 18, legal or not, he's your student, too icky and weird for me.

So I slammed'er shut and picked up an entirely different book.

This book was a little slow at the beginning. The main character is self loathing and kind of annoying. but stick with it. it becomes witty and entertaining. (there are some raunchy parts that could have been left out)

I didn't laugh once. It was a fast and entertaining read. Raunchier than the chick lit I read. Example on page 15:Jack had proposed to her while they were sixty-nining. She couldn't even see his face-obviously she just took his dick out of her mouth and said,"Yes."

Knjiga zavšava ponovnim zarukama Graya i Helen.

It feels like I am seeing and watching a riot comedy movie. A combination of the Bridesmaids and The Hangover . Though I can definitely say that this is not for everyone, especially if you’re not comfortable reading a raunchy, vulgar, kinky and crude story.

One of the things that I really like about the story is the platonic friendship between a male and a female characters. We need more of this kind of representation in media. Then, we have this set of unlikely bridesmaids who’s having their bachelorette wherein everything went wrong and messy.

The Bachelorette Party is definitely top tier funny and hilarious, a LOL worthy. And there’s a lot of scenes that make me dumbfounded by just reading it, especially how open and vulgar the main character about the things that people normally avoid to talk about - sex, fantasies, kinky stuff, masturbating and some genitalias topic. It’s interesting to read these kind of things on a woman’s perspective.

The first half of book attacked me like it really home. Wherein people in your life keep pushing and forcing you to go dating because they think that you’re sad and lonely and unhappy. Like being single is a bad thing. Like they are thinking that you have defects that's why you're single. Like they are thinking that you still cannot move on from your ex. That’s why I relate so hard with the main character in the first part of the story.

My only concern about this book is the teacher-student affair. I am completely condemning it or will not justify that actions. We should not romanticize those kind of acts. It’s bothering and gross. But I know it’s really happens in real life, and this story is an example of that. But I didn’t like how it handles in this book. Though, I think they only use that as a plot device to show how chaotic and convoluted the main character’s life. But still, not a big fan of it.

Overall. I really enjoyed this book unexpectedly like I picked this up on a whim since I need a clean slate for reading a mediocre YA fantasy series.

Was excited to pick this one up, looking for something lighthearted and fun...not exactly what I was looking for. The main character was kinda irritating for my taste, more of the “woe is me” type than anything else, a character that felt really immature. There wasn’t a lot of character development afforded to any of the characters in the book, you were just supposed to get on board with conflict without any backstory. The premise in general was fun, but the addition of Zadie’s classroom dilemma was a bit too much for me; especially when the character herself had a long internal monologue throughout the book discussing how immoral her actions were. While it’s certainly not the worst book I’ve read, I wouldn’t recommend it to a friend

Very raunchy, humorous and unapologetic, The Bachelorette Party is pretty much a compilation of the worst bridal showers/bachelorette parties you have ever attended. The lead character Zadie’s storyline is the least realistic while her reactions to those around her (save her student) are perfectly understandable. Many of those women were very unlikeable & much like characters you may have seen in bachelorette movies, if not dealt with in real life wedding parties. I was halfway through the book before I really wanted to know what was going to happen next & then I couldn’t put it down. Everything wrapped up neatly enough but it just wasn’t as fun as I had hoped for based on reviews & the author having co-written Legally Blonde.

This is what I call a beach read- quick and easy, like some of the girls in the story. Zadie got left at the alter, and now her best male friend and conspirator is engages to her perfect and uptight cousin. He tasks Zadie with loosening up his fiancée at the bachelorette party and Zadie obliges. Things get out of hand and mayhem ensues.

I’m not a fan of snarky, spoiled women, so the “humor” other people saw in this book was somewhat lost on me. The author wrote Legally Blonde, which felt less “sad” to me. Still, for a beach read, not a bad way to spend some time.

I’ll be honest, this book was a pleasure! It’s 100% a guilty pleasure read and shows signs of aging poorly (early 2000s moments and some harsh lingo), but overall I couldn’t stop reading!!

I think the dialogue was really lyric in a conversational way. Every moment between characters felt super honest and at times I wondered if the author was writing about her experiences. I’m really stoked that the MC did NOT end up with her male bff, and I was pretty happy with the growth of the MC from start to finish.

I’d recommend for something to make you laugh and really make you grit your teeth.

It’s taken me quite a while to write a review because I can’t seem to give this a good review and I’m reluctant to give it a bad rating. Reading the description gave me hope that this would be an intriguing book. I didn’t find it to be a “wickedly compelling and compulsively page-turning thriller” as described. It was a duel time line 10 years apart. I found it was too easy to figure out the current day “who done it” but the motive was far from obvious. This ARC was provided by St Martin’s Press via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I couldn’t vibe with this book with the teacher/student fantasy and sex scenes. Doesn’t matter that Trevor was 19 he was still in high school and a student. I would still get the ick if the book had a college professor and a college student. And none of Zadie’s friends were like that’s messed up they were encouraging her and also making sure it happened, for instance Jane giving her the hotel room. The bachelorette party was an eclectic group of women with secrets of their own along with the bride. Grey seemed like a great guy and even at the end too good for Helen.
